This is 1000% BS. Unless you live in East Asia where Anime has always been huge. This episode dropped in like what? 2009-2010? Way before Anime exploded onto the mainstream in the U.S./Europe. Hell, even in Latin America it has never been big enough for an entire high school to need an assembly.
@lennyjenkins9931 Anime was already very popular in Europe, Asia and other parts of the world in 2010, hell i live in North Africa and i was in high school in 2010 and i remember half of my classmates used to watch Naruto

I literally stopped reading the manga for like 5 months when this came out. It was so rough. It also shows how despite being a goofball, Jiraiya was truly one of the smartest and resourceful ninja in that world. Pain literally took out entire villages and was on his heels with Jiraiya who had to figure out his abilities on the fly. Even in death he was only thinking of others.
I had the same reaction I think 10 years ago when I watched it, crazy to see what anime characters can do to you, you start to love them like real people in your life and realise once they're gone.
Honestly what destroyed me was tsunade's POV in all of this. When she sat on the bench with him before he goes, and when she found out the message that he died. My tear glands just exploded
I commented on one of your previous Naruto watches that Asuma's death was one of 5 of my "will always make me cry" episodes, Jiraiya's death is also one of them. Jiraiya is one of my top 5 Naruto characters. He reminds me of my grandpa who was more of a dad to me than my real dad. I remember years ago when i was watching Naruto with a girl i liked, we were face timing each other while watching these episodes, she was beyond devastated. Jiraiya was her favorite. She was so mad at ME lol. Like, i didn't kill him?? We legit didn't watch Naruto together for a month afterwards cuz she was so upset about his death. RIP to the Pervy Sage. A ninja among ninja.
So the Pain begins… I can still remember the sadness when the chapter came out… me and my best friend were in university and we were both sobbing uncontrollably… thank you, those are sad but precious emotions and memories, thank you for the memory lane 🤍
okay I just finished watching your introduction girl...I just kind of found your channel as I've been rekindling my love for this show with a creator named soloraiju, who funny enough is pretty much right where you are at in terms of releasing youtube content. I've been a fan of this show since it's conception, I read all the manga volumes at my local library when I ran out of subbed content at like 11 or 12 years old. I just want to say, oh my god. Just, the substantial response you've had with this show is truly... well, truly validating for young me in a way. I cried with these characters, sat in suspense about them for weeks at a time sometimes. As a young girl I never really had that with conventional media, and knowing that these reactions were rather justified in a way is really comforting. That being said, I completely understand your reaction here, and you are definitely not alone. I still get teary eyed if these episodes find me at the right time- and I'm 24 freaking years old! it's been god knows how long since I first reacted to this, and it still holds weight all this time later, and for damn good reason! love the content keep it up 😅
You would not believe how this effected the community when these chapters dropped. I’m talking fan translation days …..everyone was in denial and then everyone was really , REALLY ANGRY. Then we all came together and grieved as a community…..it’s was one of the most painful things I’ve gone through as a fan but also one of the most beautiful. Then a few years later we had to experience again in animation form, but this time we were prepared and we had the proper state of mind. Really one of the most unique experiences of my life as a fan of any IP. Jiraiya IS THE GOAT! His actions here lead to every successful operation in the future, and he knew they would, take pride in that and always show him the proper respect. He knew what needed to be done and he did it for the sake of everyone else, especially naruto. That’s why he’s the goat 🫡
NGL when I watched it I hold on to my tears even after his death but the moment Naruto feels that hand on hi shoulder, My God I cried like hell. The sheer emotions in Naruto and how we feel it irl is what makes it our fav ❤. You are on a journey of greatest MC in anime verse and we are with you ❤
At the time, some Naruto fans in Japan were shocked by what happened to Jiraiya. He was a very loved character. It's been 10 years since Naruto ended, but I'm still sad 😢
Jiraiya was 54 when he died, so he had spent decades! - an entire lifetime of cumulatively internalizing his many losses, his personal failures, all the guilt and self-doubt he carried over his self-proclaimed "bad" judgement over the years. His "wrong" choice of Child of Prophecy - the supposed death of Nagato et al. -, Orochimaru's defection and Jiraiya's failure to stop it, Tsunade's rejection, his Master's death, his impotence to change the Ninja World at all...He had grown callous, despondent, so disenchanted with the Ninja World to the point he couldn't even totally place his faith on Naruto's Ninja Way, afraid to raise another Nagato, not wanting Naruto to make the same mistakes he himself did (regarding Sasuke/Orochimaru, Sakura/Tsunade, [not] being Hokage, saving/dying for the Village), not wanting Naruto to become a "failure" of his own right. So, Jiraiya did not only decide to devote his life to what he considered to be his maximum Shinobi purpose in order to make up for his "failures" in life and give his human existence value and overall merit and dignity but ironically, in a contradictory way, he also felt the necessity to build his whole social identity around his Shinobi persona - a sort of superhero caricature that constantly parodies himself and tries to project all his failures as quirks and comedic intrinsic properties. He begrudgingly embraced the "failure" persona, the clown gig, the Pervy Sage title and job, for that was what and how he truly thought of himself as, nothing more. On his deathbed, he finally understood that Naruto's Ninja Way was and is precisely to embrace those "failures" and to be a "failure" if he has to, to refuse to win a rigged game but instead insist on breaking the rules (Obito: «Those who break the rules are trash, but those who abandon their comrades are worse than trash! If I'm going to be called trash either way either way, I'd rather BREAK THE RULES! And if that somehow makes me anything less than a real shinobi, then I'll crush all of the so-called "real" shinobi!»). Naruto had slowly reconverted him to his lost childish naivety, to what had always been his own Ninja Way. He gave Jiraiya an opportunity to fulfil the roles life had once denied him: parent, hero*, teacher, friend. (Also, in these later chapters, Tsunade seems to match his enthusiasm for her when finally exposed to his true nature as a Shinobi Hero, so...+Lover?). *Yes, because in the end, he DID try to play the Hero (especially after Nagato's death) instead of the parody, he tried to stop PAIN himself and save the Village forfeiting his own life, he tried to be The Child of Prophecy. But by failing to accomplish that role, he realized his minor but crucial role in the greater scheme of things, he realized his own part in the Prophecy and finally acknowledged his own value inside his own great narrative. He died crowning/electing the Child of Prophecy, just like he was meant to - he had accomplished his Destiny, he had not failed. And so he smiled, as if revisioning his entire life in that moment and finally seeing himself as a hero worthy of dying with a smile.
I completed Naruto 5 years ago but till now when i see this scene it makes me cry 😭 😭 but best thing is - now Naruto's best Arc is coming ❤❤ you will enjoy this but you need to become strong coz Naruto shippuden is very dengerous and broken 😔😔
Hi Flexie, a simple message from a shadow viewer to tell you that you have entered the peak of the prime of Naruto Shippuden and of the entire Naruto work from my humble point of view. Of course there will be other incredible moments until the end, but this part of the work from episodes 120 to the end of episode 141 (yes precisely, you will understand why when you have seen everything) is for me the heart of the best of what Kishimoto-Sensei was able to offer us. I hope you will appreciate it as much as we were able to do at the time, because after finishing Naruto you will only have one desire: to rediscover the work as if it were the first time. Thank you for all these reactions and these videos, you are one of the best react channels that I have seen and god knows that I have watched a lot! Wish you the best!
This one episode is what has subconsciously stopped me from watching Naruto reactions all the way....i can't bare to watch other people grow to like Jiraiya and then watch him die,,,,AGAIN! Many of us were in the age range of Naruto when Jiraiya passed, it felt like losing a friend, a dad, that cool uncle/vet grandpa, your best teacher, all at once !! This was the first time i experienced grief !! After this death, no anime death had much of an effect, it's like my brain developed a defense mechanism where every new anime i start, i just assume the person i care about will die and i subconsciously start preparing for it! What makes it worse is the moment Jiraiya infiltrated that village, there was this constant looming dread. The atmosphere, something was off but i remember me and my friends never mentioning it, we felt it but we all just kind of ignored it thinking "there's no way, not now" but that feeling never left! You know when an anime makes the effort to not disclose the villains abilities during a crucial fight, someone is gonna die! I held on to the hope that Jiraiya will at worst end up escaping badly injured and put out of commission! But to die, no way! This just made every consecutive injury so anxiety inducing! I remember i kept shouting at the screen, "just leave already!!"
Let the tears flow. We all felt your pain when we first watched it. I cried like a baby for days and I didn’t even like Jiriya as a character I cried cuz of how bad I felt for Naruto losing the one person who truly was like a father to him.
anyone like me who watched this in real time when the anime was running know that this hurt even more. This was the most painful death in all of anime for me. As a kid it shook me to the core and even to this day when I watch it back it still hits hard
Jiraiya is by far my favorite manga/anime character (not just Naruto) , he is so well written and he is so interesting. His death was a painful masterpiece.
the part where Tsunade was sitting on the ledge and saw the frog then looked away for a sec then it jumped down into the water signified Jiraiya's death of him going down into the ocean...😢
It's been almost 8 years since I watched these episodes, and watching him die, and then the intro of the following episode.... it still gets me to watch it.
no scene in anime or somewhere else in life made me cry ever again like i did in the exact moment jiraiya got up one last time to leave his final message. my hero academia came close in seasons 4, 6 and 7 but this scene right here will probably remain the most emotional moment i ever went through for the rest of my life
This is the episode where people first KNOW PAIN in Naruto Universe. Jiraiya was a very huge character in the series, sure there are a lot of Death that happened like Azuma but Jiraiya is just different. Jiraiya has been there since OG NARUTO and has been a huge part of Naruto's life so we pretty much saw a lot of interactions between them. We watched their bonds unfold from Teacher-Student to a Grandpa-Grandson dynamic. the Opening of this Arc's intro just hit deep more. "I realize the screaming pain. Hearing loud in my brain. But I'm going straight ahead with the scar"
You did much better than me when i watched it for the first time! haha even the second time round I was sobbing to no end. Something about this show and the characters will always have a special place in my heart.

For a mentor and student to get to a point which one would wish to kill the other is such a form of sadness.
Somehow Pain doing this is still done with the intent of following his master dream.

@CasualVideoGamer I've heard of Ryu, do y'all do full contact sparring a la Kyokushin?
Like a sadist, I was waiting for this moment. For me, this is one of those big moments for reactors. I'm so sorry you went through this.
But now we got to... know Pain.
This is the best arc of the franchise imo. It's what made me love the Naruto series so much. The gravitas of what Pain brings to the story really helps set the franchise apart from other shonen series.
My heart does break for you, but welcome to the family, my friend. Thank you for being such a genuine reactor and caring about the series.
I remember ppl took off SCHOOL after this dropped. (High school).
My school actually had to call an assembly just to make sure something did not happen lol (alot of people watched naruto during after school club, like 40+ kids at once.) because we were moping around for 2 days. This HURT.

I was recommended this channel and after watching your reactions and how you cried during Jaraiya’s death I had to like, comment, and subscribe. I watch Naruto years ago I think around 2013 or 2014 but it’s so nice to see new comers enjoying what I enjoyed. It’s like watching it all over again through you guys eyes.
AMAZING
The tears, the crying, the agony. It was soooooo fucking sweet!
Love it
I literally stopped reading the manga for like 5 months when this came out. It was so rough. It also shows how despite being a goofball, Jiraiya was truly one of the smartest and resourceful ninja in that world. Pain literally took out entire villages and was on his heels with Jiraiya who had to figure out his abilities on the fly. Even in death he was only thinking of others.
The frog in the ocean is symbolism but also the last chapter of "the book of Jiraya the Gallant." He says it as he is sinking
Jiraya sensei ❤❤❤
You did the most important thing, You are one of those who showed Naruto what a real Shinobi should be
Kids who have never seen peace and kids who have never seen wars have different values - One Piece
his death is one of the saddest in all anime. I can never not cry with this scene.
It's amazing how many jutsus Jiraiya used during this fight, truly legendary!
Jiraya's spirit laying a hand on Naruto's shoulder is what gets me.
This episode gets us all....i don't think there's anyone that doesn't love Jiraiya
Still crying.. and it's been 11 years that I still cry to the scene... Naruto make me a better man in life, but also scarred it for life! XD
41:12 The crack in her voice, i felt that 🤧 😭😭😭
Watching Naruto made me feel like I was experiencing real loss. It was so painful
I think I saw this ten years ago. I cried so badly because, for me, I related to Jiraiya as I did with my grandfather. It gets me every time.
This part of Naruto might just be my favourite in all of fiction. It's so well written
So the Pain begins…
I can still remember the sadness when the chapter came out… me and my best friend were in university and we were both sobbing uncontrollably… thank you, those are sad but precious emotions and memories, thank you for the memory lane 🤍
The shoulder-pat always gets me man.
I was there and holy shit the tears didnt stop 😅never seen someone cry so much for jiraya
okay I just finished watching your introduction girl...I just kind of found your channel as I've been rekindling my love for this show with a creator named soloraiju, who funny enough is pretty much right where you are at in terms of releasing youtube content.
Tbh I thought that you dropped this show for good after such a long time. I miss you and glad you decided to continue. You are the best!
I remember this had the community in shambles when it first happened. Still one of the saddest deaths in anime
I was in your stream and I was shocked about how you were crying :( I understand you for sure :)
I have watched these episodes several times and every time I cannot stop crying so Thank you for your reaction You made my tears flow more 😢
I see you aswell have mastered water style jutzu with those tears.
Rip pervy sage.
This is a great vid to drop on my birthday. I'm glad that you are sharing your reactions! This is peak content for such videos.
The Pain arc music is the best. Gives me chills whenever i hear it
I teared up with you! I remember specifically having a good cry right before a beautiful Saturday afternoon archery practice.
Imagine the people who have been watching the show for years... EVEN THE FILLER!
It's like loosing a close relative...
I have seen those few episode hundred times already, but still have to cry every time
Jiraiya was 54 when he died, so he had spent decades!
Great reaction Jay. The intro song still to this day reminds me of the sadness of loosing this uncle/father figure for Naruto
I completed Naruto 5 years ago but till now when i see this scene it makes me cry 😭 😭
but best thing is - now Naruto's best Arc is coming ❤❤
you will enjoy this but you need to become strong coz Naruto shippuden is very dengerous and broken 😔😔
The scene that he put his hand on Naruto's shoulder completely broke me and it was the very first time I cried watching anime
Imagine you withstand jiraya's death monologue with dry eyes, only to get punched in the face few seconds later at 46:19
Hi Flexie, a simple message from a shadow viewer to tell you that you have entered the peak of the prime of Naruto Shippuden and of the entire Naruto work from my humble point of view.
The best ep 135 is coming
anyone like me who watched this in real time when the anime was running know that this hurt even more. This was the most painful death in all of anime for me. As a kid it shook me to the core and even to this day when I watch it back it still hits hard
Best reactor. Stay strong Flexie, we’ve still got a ways to go 💪❤️
Jiraiya is by far my favorite manga/anime character (not just Naruto) , he is so well written and he is so interesting. His death was a painful masterpiece.
Dandadan Ep 7 and now this. Sis can’t catch a break 💀
the part where Tsunade was sitting on the ledge and saw the frog then looked away for a sec then it jumped down into the water signified Jiraiya's death of him going down into the ocean...😢
I think too many people overlook the part with tsunade. That frog that left was the one jiraya left to watch over her...
The frog symbolizes Jiraiya. Tsunade never notice the frog, and when she does the frog is gone. Sad as hell. 😭
It's been almost 8 years since I watched these episodes, and watching him die, and then the intro of the following episode.... it still gets me to watch it.
Yoo just wanna say you look very beautiful in that intro warning, love the hair❤
Bro, I really love your reactions
It's nice to relive these moments with others
What's up beautiful love you're channel ❤❤ your reaction are second to none keep up the great work
In total, adding up the score, Jiraiya took out 4/6 pains, all while alone, and in Pains home terf. What an absolute boss 💪💪
The best reaction on all of UA-cam❤
no scene in anime or somewhere else in life made me cry ever again like i did in the exact moment jiraiya got up one last time to leave his final message. my hero academia came close in seasons 4, 6 and 7 but this scene right here will probably remain the most emotional moment i ever went through for the rest of my life
RIP Jiraya. 😭
Jiraiya the Goat 😢
You did much better than me when i watched it for the first time! haha even the second time round I was sobbing to no end. Something about this show and the characters will always have a special place in my heart.
あなたの気持ちはすごく分かるよ!
私も悲しかったけど、美しいシーンでした😿
Jiraiya the GOAT
46:12 She felt the pain!
How many years and multiple reaction videos later and it still always gets me
Now she knows pain 😢
I've seen so much anime throughout my life. This is probably the death that has hit me the hardest. Jiraiya was a spectacular character.
