It makes perfect sense. Once you figure out that Tobi isn't Madara and consider the possiblity its someone else, all the clues if you notice them, start connecting. I figured out back during the Itachi vs Sasuke arc and the Pain Arc confirmed it for me. There's something very specifc revealed in the Pain Arc that convinced me and from then on I was waiting for the reveal. Now the coffin...shit, I didn't guess that at all. I never imagined the real Madara would appear in the present story. I honestly thought he was dead and we'd just get flashbacks to explain certain things. That reveal blew my mind but further confirmed my theory. After this episode I 100% knew who Tobi was. And there's still people who watched or read the story who were convinced it was someone else because it was "too obvious.". Like, that's the whole point of foreshadowing and set-up. A good twist is one you realize was there building throughout the background. A reveal or twist that's done to subvert your expectations isn't a good one.

He's mentioned a few times in Part 1 and then in Part 2 we finally get the backstory on who this guy is and after those episodes I was convinced Tobi was him. But I still had my suspicious. The biggest question I aksed was, "What happened to Rin? Is she dead or alive?". That moment with Kakashi in the Pain Arc where he revealed she died confirmed my theory it was Obito. He survived the crashing of the rocks because he phased through. He survived that because Madara found and saved him and then turned him. That was my theory from than on and I was 100% correct. It was a great feeling. I literally started reading the manga after watching this episode because that's when I finally caught up with the anime as well back. And seeing my theory turning out to be correct was amazing. Don't get me started on the Kaguya/Black Zetzu thing...I called that shit in advance as well. So many clues pretaining to that, that people ignored.

The reason is obvious because A) it wasn't Madara and B) its clearly someone else we've already seen. 2. Whenever Tobi appeared to Naruto early on in their interactions, Kakashi was always there. In fact, the first time the Heroes learn he has the Sharingan, Kakashi is the first one to notice. You can tell Kishimoto was trying to create some kind of connection there with that reveal. 3. Speaking of the eyes, Kakashi's Sharingan was one left. Tobi's was the on right. Of course they tried to trick us with the Konan fight after they revealed he did have a second Sharingan but as we saw with the aftermath of Danzo and Sasukes fight he had a whole stash of Sharingans at hand so one could assume his left Sharingan wasn't actually his. 4. The phasing ability. Tobi's ability was phasing through things. If he was Obito it would help explain how he survived getting crashed by rocks to death. 5. During his fight with Konan we see him lose his arm and its all creamy, white blood like as if its not a real arm and an artifical one instead. Again, if this was Obito, and we already know his whole left side was damaged, it would explain that aspect. 6. Kakashi confirming Rin died. Kakashi tells Sasuke in Part 1 that he's lost everyone he loved but we didn't know who Obito or Rin were. Once we got the Kakashi Chronicles, we knew Rin survived at the end of it. There was no confirmation that she specifically died and Obito did make Kakashi promise to protect her so there was this clear question in Part 2, "What exactly happened to Rin? Is she dead? And if she is dead...how? Why? When?" The Pain arc confirmed she indeed died but the story behind her death remained a utter mystery. This was an important character to both Kakashi and Obito and she just dies off-screen? Something obviously big happened and if her Death is indeed a big deal, than it stands to reason we'll have to learn about it eventually which is why Kakashi dying back than for me wasn't too upsetting because again, if you assume Tobi is Obito, than we have to the backstory on Rin's death eventually and confrontation with Obito and Kakashi, so Kakashi couldn't just die than. 7. This one is dumb but Obito and Tobi's haircuts were similar to me. I just remember seeing that in the anime and thinking, wait a second...it can't be that obvious surely? 8. Tobi's name. Tobi. obiTo. tOBI. Its a huge stretch but come on. 9. Him getting shit scared at whatever/whoever it was Kabuto showed him in the coffin. At the time I think I assumed it was Rin's body in the coffin. Again, real Madara coming back to life was not on my bingo card.
Nagato tried all his adult Life and shaped his entire Persona around being a God, yet this wasn't recognized by anyone Meaningful in the Show - only the Plebs in the Rain Village really believed it. Madara literally fights some Guys for ~10 minutes and pretty much all 5 Nations give him the Title unanimously :D What a G
I mean, he threw hands in the end of Waring states period with anyone willing, was a head of the Uchiha at the time of Konoha foundation, was the first to control Kurama, threw hands with Hashirama countless times, threw hands with Hashirama and Tobirama simultaneously, flexed on Onoki and Mu, and now he is present as a reanimation, which means he cannot die and have basically limitless chakra, requires no sustenance, and he simply stares an army down and comes at it without blinking. With such track record you ought to fear the man, because not many have such a profile to themselves.
