Since my wife and I are older retired people, we love the simplicity of power, water and tank dumping with our Travato. Our last motor home hid everything up under the coach so it on your knees pal to do any of these tasks. Love our Travato!
Really enjoy your no-nonsense analysis of things with the occasional emotional values that u you add, Scott. We had a Winnebago Indian growing up (yep, I'm that old!). Folks almost bought your model of the Travato a couple of years ago but ended up with a Trend, instead. Your vids inspire me to even consider a Travato after retirement. I'm not sure how well we'd fare being a full-time RVer. Might just have to live vicariously through your vids. Thx for sharing.
It is always helpful to see what you do and don't want. Each to their own, and I appreciate you providing the opportunity to see the differences in the RV's, Thank you for sharing.
Thor Sequence 20K with the large pull out couch is my girlfriend and I's favorite B class so far. We love the large couch area for watching TV/ eating and it converts to the largest bed that we have found. We don't mind making the bed daily because it is so easy.
The Boldt, with twin back beds, extra front bed, great size galley (though if fridge was bigger, even better) and its all-season capability is the winner in my book out of these four. Last year we purchased a Winnebago Era 70B 4x4 and love it, especially after heating/covering tanks, pipes, and connectors to make it 4-season.
I like your tour videos. The Travato GL is an intriguing vehicle and i would consider. I went to a local dealer and experienced one in person. Unfortunately, any 6'2/3" body won't fit too well in it. My head goes into the ceiling and everything is a tight fit. So, it's a B+ for me. Leisure Travel Van is what I want.
Boldt-NO. REVEL-YES. SOLIS-Interesting, see a market. TRAVATO--YES YES YES!! And Scott, if you want stripes, go for it! Whatever you want. ;) Thanks for the vlog. 😊
I like the layout. Length is a "tweener" between the short 19' such as a Revel, and 21' Travato. I noticed no mention of inverter for 110 off of batteries. I went onto the Lichtsinn site and they did quickly mention that you can upgrade to Lithium, but no details provided.
Like the Revel, but it's tight. Haven't seen the Solis in person yet, but I LOVE it. Great Price, Great weekender or Family Camper. Love the storage in the back. the outdoor showers, the pop-top. 2 big beds (both bigger than the Travato). I've had a Travato for 4 years and 70K miles. I've used the AC maybe 4 times - so I wouldn't miss it.
The Revel started my journey into the RV world. Love the 4WD and Mercedes chassis, cassette toilet, and the bed but no storage and NO Volta lithium (why??). The Boldt intrigued me but that cost--WOW. It's hard to beat the Travato GL. They just need to add a 4WD version for it. The Solis is for people who live in the north with no AC. Thanks for tour
Scott, Just ordered the Travato NP. I get your reasons for the G layout, but the very things you need are what I things I found difficult to deal with. I wanted open space with light so the cubby “rooms” didn’t do it for me. As you’ve stated so often, know yourself and think it through. I travel with friends or family so one bed is no good. With the KL NP I have power, open sight lines, and space for companions.
Go Small. Live Large! This is my second. Had the Thor Axis 24.1 which drove like a dream , except for the thumping slide, but the overall quality was poor. I decided to take a gamble on the Travato now because time is an issue: at 75 I don’t feel I have any to spare.
Scott. I was there too and happy to have been able to look at all the offerings the the big "W" has to offer. I keep coming back to the Travato 59GL. Keep doing your thing. Sorry I was not able to meet you at the show. Travel on.
Do you not think you get equal or better storagability with the bathroom in back where you can just pile supplies in there from the back door? I love the idea of the Revel that on the road the bathroom is just another useful closet. A large bathroom is never wasted by someone who doesn’t choose to waste it. After a year do you still prefer your choice of the G plan over the K, or is it really just a coin flip with little if any practical difference?
Not a “K” owner, but piling in supplies would make accessing the wardrobe cabinet, and toilet difficult I think. NO COIN TOSS needed.. for my needs the G floor plan continues to exceed my lofty expectations. Thanks for watching, subscribing, and taking time to comment
Not a fan of pop top Campervan because of insulation. Plus, definitely need an AC. Liked the outside of new Revel (hated the lime green scheme). Wish the Revels were longer. They are too small, but love the 4 season capability. Thanks for showing us the new models. Love ur honest feedback.
It’s amazing to watch this video two years later. I am searching for a used 2020 Revel and $135k seems to be the average market price for a two year old Revel and yet two years ago, at this show, they were selling brand new for $126k (sure - plus tax but still!) I’m wondering when prices will ever adjust back to normal and you can buy a used Revel for less than what it sold brand new?!😂
I like the solis! Most of these class b’s don’t have a permanent table so I wouldn’t expect it. I mention this because you keep mentioning this. What class b do you know of that has a permanent table?
Scott (or anyone), I’m looking at the Travato, and I want more energy than the std 59G, but I consider the 59GL as overkill for my needs. Considering upgrading to two “drop-in” Battleborn batteries and a bigger inverter (maybe 2000W). How do you think that would work? Think a dealer would take out the AGM batteries and 1000W inverter and give me credit for them? P.S. for your stealth camping, you should get a magnetic sign made that says “Scott’s Plumbing” :)
I doubt you'd get any credit for that but you should definitely try to haggle it out. Alternatively, use the rig as-purchased for at least a year before upgrading. You might spend more time plugged in to shore power than you initially think. My magnetic signs will be purple and orange and say "FredEx."
I was able to see the 59g today and I was surprised how small the bathroom was, also I think they should use a Lagun table. It was hard to get my feet pass the pole. The seat was comfortable once I got in. I found getting from the coach to the driver seat very narrow too. I think my Travato 59gl bubble got bursted, oh sniffle. Have you had trouble with those cabinet buttons? This was a new rig and I found two of them very loose. How are they for you? I may need to take another look at the PW Lexor FL.
Thanks for giving the 59G floorplan a thorough look. Love how you used the rooms to determine they don’t work for you. The positive lock buttons to twist and just need to make sure that they stay screwed in. I have not had any trouble with loose knobs
Interesting that the special "show price" is higher than what at least two dealers are selling the Revel for. Goes to show that you need to shop around.
Show price is rarely the best around. Dealers are making big bucks at the show. But for someone who does not want to shop around and drive too far, the show price can be a nice discount, compared to the non-volume family owned dealerships.
@@myboyz02 LaMesa RV in Sacramento has them advertised for $116k - $118k. My understanding is that there are a number of dealerships around the country with posted prices under $120k.
In your opinion can the Revel be used for full-time use or is it better suited for short trips? I think having a Travato with an adjustable bed like the Revel with maybe a smaller bathroom would be perfect.
Hi Avery. My journey started with looking at the Revel. The floor plan makes all the difference. And that is determined by how you intend to use your rig. The Revel would not work out for me. Carefully examine your needs, use-case, and floor plans pros and cons carefully. Personally, I could not live in a Revel full-time. Thanks for commenting.
Solis wouldn’t work for us. I like the Boldt except for the Mercedes chassis. We love our K but wish we had the G fridge. We love our rear bath. We just open the back door that is on the side with the wall, not the side with the toilet. Breeze still comes in, I installed a magnetic screen door (the kind you use in a home), and between the screen and the shower curtain, I use the bathroom and the door on the wall side is open. (Don’t know if that made any sense....).
Thanks for the walkthroughs. Great info. Love the NPF Travato. Very intrigued by the Boldt, but out of our price range. I'm surprised the Solis has no AC. I wonder what was behind that decision?
Thanks for asking Austin. Have to admit to being a little behind on my RV models lately. Having seen RVs from both makes, I think Winnebago gets my thumb up on quality. Which one are you leaning towards?
Go Small. Live Large! I actually like the Tellaro sleeping space and the front living area a little better but have been reading MANY reviews on their lack of quality control and support which trouble me greatly. If the travato 59gl had a pop top, that would be my go to.
Advanced was not according to Owner Ed who has an advanced RV vehicle. I didn’t see sports Mobile but they may have been there I just may have missed them. It is a massive show
Scott, you GOTTA get stripes for Lily, she'll go faster! Loving your videos. Someday when you have nothing to do (!), google the Malibu 640LE by Cathargo. It's European but has everything you always highlight as the best parts of your Travato (except the Lithium of course). Very innovative bathroom, fixed table, garage storage below the rear bed, etc. If that layout was available here that would be the perfect one for us.
I too initially became interested in the Class B van because of the Revel. While I like the aggressive look but something is missing. The 59GL still has my ❤️
After seeing your rig, we are leaning towards the G plan as well. We thought the twin setup on the K was nice, but the fold up bed allows for some storage. Wife really liked the Revel concept, but I am not a fan of extra motors that can break down. And since the Revel doesn't seem to have a lithium option, it is probably off the table. That was the great thing about the RV show... it gave us our first opportunity to compare RV layouts at the same time. Not sure I agree with you on the "white" color scheme... wouldn't that show even the smallest amount of dust and always look kind of dirty? I think I would be constantly washing the RV! Now go get some sleep! Be seeing you!
IF i was to get a TRAVATO.....it would have to be the GL the OLD one as they changed the new one ???? Oh time to think about things.... CHAD AND PAUL’s current RV..... YES.
The 59gl is unbeatable for me and the NPF even more. The revel is close but the bathroom too little and no lithium. The bolt too big. When you were in the solis the camera make me kinda dizzy use the wide angle lens in the iphone 11 🙏
Does the Travato have a rear bed option that converts to sofa like I’ve seen in other class Bs? Have only seen twin option & the corner bed option with bathroom in back.
I'm happy that Travatos are now available in white, as should be anyone who lives south of the Mason-Dixon line. I used to have a black car and a dark blue car and you could have roasted a whole frozen turkey in about an hour inside them. One thing I'm told exists (yet have never seen) is the NPF 59GL. I'd love to see one. The bed & bath layouts and tables in the K models are pure crap. That stupid flip-out "desk" is barely deep enough for a phone.
The fridge is so small how can you bring enough food and have cold drinks for four people? No ac it’s a hot box other then that the Solis would be a nice van
My neighbor just purchased his 2020 Revel for $115,000, its VERY nice! Revel in my opinion is a great 4x4 option, love the sliding side door b remote, cant stop pressing the open.close remote...lol, Solis should MSRP for $45,000 IMO, Bolt overpriced,.................Travato, you should know uses paper bottoms under the cabinets and wall faces ANY water touches it like wet toilet tissue (you have been warned) at 60,000 miles the toilet water tube will need to be re clamped and sealed, overall NOW a solid build, the best is the Carado Axion PERIOD for the price and size!glad winnebago followed my suggestion to Stop using propane fridges from the 1800's:) Finally!
Thanks for all these reviews. I just discovered your channel a week or two ago because I’m tired of towing a little trailer. I’m a frustrated ‘60s hippie who never got her VW camper but Eurovans don’t have WCs and just don’t seem to be arranged very smartly. We thought a small trailer would be fun, but I just don’t like towing. The biggest advantage of towing is you can drop your vehicle and have a car to drive around in. Do you find it a problem having to drive your home everywhere? Or is the Travato small enough and maneuverable enough that you’re comfortable just driving it to head out to the store or sightseeing? Thanks.
Trish Benedict we own the K model Travato it’s perfect for getting up and going at the drop of a hat, to shop or site see. Park in most regular parking spots. We are in our mid 60’s and don’t sit still long in one spot. When we park, we plug in and that’s it. Don’t hook up to water or dump. Only use whats in the water tank, and dump when you need to. So plug in, do your thing, then unplug and roll in awning. Park, plug in, and live!
Martha Manigross Hey, thanks, Martha! So you have the base model and not the lithium? We would just be tourists and not full timers, so I was hoping we could occasionally boondock OK without the extra expense. Typically, we stay where we can plug in, but sometimes we go to NPs that don’t have power - Great Basin, Teddy Roosevelt… I’m thinking we would be OK with just the roof solar panels for that sort of use. I can live without my Nespresso machine for a couple of days. (Even though we’re in our 70s, we’re still tent campers at heart. Have never even used the sinks or showers in our two little trailers.)
Trish Benedict hey Trish! We are turning 64 this year and have only owned an RV for 2.5 years. We haven’t done a lot of traveling - yet - but that’s going to change this year! Woohoo! To answer your questions, yes, we have the base model, a 2018 K. No lithium. You can run anything off the generator. It runs on the gas from the engine gas tank. Full tank of gas, you don’t have to do without your coffee! You also have a propane stove,so full propane, coffee! 😁 We actually love driving our home everywhere. We live in VA and we use it to take the dogs to the vet, or if we will go somewhere local and know we will be gone more than three hours, we take the van and the dogs (dogs are older and have some issues and can’t be left mote than 3 hours). We have gone to Maine and parked wherever we needed to. Best advice I can give is to go to a dealer and sit in one, drive one, lay on the bed, see if you can reach inside the fridge (it’s small but deep and low to the ground). There are things he dealers have NO idea about, like the hidden storage under the passenger bed, or how to adjust the seats. There are two Travato pages on Facebook. The Travato Owners and Wannabees which has a ton of info, pics, modifications people make, and files with great info, and the Travato Base Camp (they are not tied to each other, just the opposite). The T can be a tad tight for 2 people but, if you learn the Travato Shuffle (haha), and you spend a lot of time outdoors, it’s great. Being able to pick up and go at a moments notice is the best part. Lock up the cabinets and secure the inside stuff, unplug, awning in, and zoom away. Like I said, fits in most parking spaces. Can it be tight? Yes, but so much easier than the ERA we had previously! If you have any more questions I’d be glad to answer them. 🤗
Martha Manigross The Travato Shuffle! I love it. We had a 12’ Flagstaff A-Frame for a couple of years. Only about a postage stamp’s worth of floor space, but oh so much headroom. But zero storage besides our Outback’s boot and no place to put a potty, let alone a dog. So we got a small 15’ RPod. Good floor plan, wet bath, functional, room for the pup, but just a little too top-heavy to tow with a 4-cylinder Outback. Sigh. So I’m looking seriously at a Travato G - or a possibly a Roadtrek Simplicity or Zion. They have the floor plans that looks like they would work best for us. I forgot that the Travato has a generator. That would work for us and our needs. We did OK without in the A frame because we have Luci rechargeable lights to supplement the trailer’s house battery, and after 2 days we just plugged into our Subaru and ran the engine on that for about 20 minutes to recharge the battery. A car engine is kind of overkill for a generator, but it worked for one use. One nuts and bolts question: how would the headroom do with a 6’2” husband? I know the specs say 6‘2“, but Often specs fudge, so I’m wondering what it feels like. He tends to be the limiter in downsizing. I looked at a couple of little teardrops like the T@B 320 with the bathroom, but my husband just sort of took up the entire interior. He’s not fat, but he’s just rangy. Long arms, big feet... Plus he had to hunch down to the 5‘9“ interior height! It was sad.:( (I know I need to go and try one out, but we’re in the SF Bay Area and I have to drive at least 50-70 mi to find a dealership that carries them. And I want to get my ducks lined up first before I present the option to him. I know he’s going to squawk at the price, but I think we’ll get our moneys worth out of it in comfort and increased travel.) Oh! What is real world gas mileage on them? Is 15 mpg realistic? Better than that? Our four-cylinder Outback, which normally gets somewhere in the 30 mpg, drops down to 16 or 17 towing, so I don’t want to get much worse mileage than that. The Solis was intriguing, but I just don’t think the headroom is there for him. And no A/C. THANKS!
Trish Benedict tall hubby might feel like it’s a bit tight. He would probably have to duck his head sideways under the AC unit cover but would probably be ok in the G. He may find it uncomfortable to drive as well though some taller guys say it’s not a big deal. It can be a bit small in a van. I’m 5’2” so can’t really say anymore about the height. Easily 17 mpg average but depends on how much weight you’re carrying and what type driving you’re doing. You should still join the groups on FB because you could search for hours to find comments and you wouldn’t have to post (they don’t love repetitive questions and tend to say use search). Plus there may be someone in your area willing to let you see theirs. Good luck!!
Hey color me. As often happens I did not make it to Austin. I’m leaving Houston driving directly to Dallas. Might drive down to Austin later in February. Appreciate your coffee offer
At this point I had to pass on Austin. I have been in Houston for a few days. Heading to Fort Worth for the next week for corporate job purposes. I love Texas
I don’t think the water fill ports need to be hidden but I do think they should be in a covered, locked compartment. I don’t like them being open to anyone putting anything in them. Cheers!!!
Go Small. Live Large! Purist here. Clean, uncluttered lines. (The ‘53 Studebaker is the most beautiful car ever designed, IMHO, but by 1955, it was so junked up with chrome as to be unrecognizable.)
Since my wife and I are older retired people, we love the simplicity of power, water and tank dumping with our Travato. Our last motor home hid everything up under the coach so it on your knees pal to do any of these tasks. Love our Travato!

Thank you for walkthrough Mr. Scott.
Really appreciate your tours. They just convinced me that the GL is still the best.
GL

Thanks Scott nice video 😁😎

Roger you have looked at the transit chassis? They are the tallest of the three chassis to my knowledge
Thanks for the review of the vans!
on the Solis I think I saw the old style exterior cabinet hinges. Expected to see invisible hinges.
Thx Doris

I think WBGO slid the Solis into the campervan market spot below Travato for families. There were already products above for Yuppies. Great strategy.

I like the solis! Most of these class b’s don’t have a permanent table so I wouldn’t expect it. I mention this because you keep mentioning this. What class b do you know of that has a permanent table?

Is that charcoal gray with the green strip Travato four wheel drive? I really don’t want a diesel and I like the twin beds.
No rx4 on the Promaster.

I like many aspects of the Solis but I dont need the pop top. Would rather have a non pop top and an A/C and of course the Lithium.
Hey Scott. I was wondering if you have had a chance to check out the Winnebago Solis 59px? If so which do you prefer that or the Tellaro 20AT? Thanks!

Advanced was not according to Owner Ed who has an advanced RV vehicle. I didn’t see sports Mobile but they may have been there I just may have missed them. It is a massive show
Thanks Scott, still like the GL best!
Will give that rig a look
I too initially became interested in the Class B van because of the Revel. While I like the aggressive look but something is missing. The 59GL still has my ❤️
GL!
Rob!! such a joy meeting you and your wife at the super show.
IF i was to get a TRAVATO.....it would have to be the GL the OLD one as they changed the new one ???? Oh time to think about things.... CHAD AND PAUL’s current RV..... YES.
Their Storyteller rig is pretty cool right?!
If you like the White, how about getting a wrap? That info would be an interesting video.
Funny you mention that. I have been thinking about a full vehicle wrap. I need a sponsor!!
@@gosmall.livelarge There's a company that brokers ad wraps for privately owned vehicles. Can't recall their name.
Are you still thinking about putting stripes on Lillie?
Hi Free… answering your question on this video ua-cam.com/video/Y3VMwNKHVtk/v-deo.html
Slow down your camera movements so we can see...awfully jerky on the Solis. Did the Solis maybe have a fold out sink? Thanks for the walk try.
Good point
At least we managed to be in the same state at the same time :-) Safe travels!
LOL 😂
I really like the Solis but no A/C is a deal breaker
I liked your video of the tellaro and Solis did you have any opinion on which is Better?
Tellaro was very compelling to me without the pop top
The 59gl is unbeatable for me and the NPF even more. The revel is close but the bathroom too little and no lithium. The bolt too big.
When you were in the solis the camera make me kinda dizzy use the wide angle lens in the iphone 11 🙏
Does the Travato have a rear bed option that converts to sofa like I’ve seen in other class Bs? Have only seen twin option & the corner bed option with bathroom in back.
Hi Sandra. Petrubiello does not have the rear bed option
Go Small. Live Large! Are Petrubiello & Travato the same thing? Thanks!
Thank you.
Carado? I wouldn't even consider buying a rig from an imploded company (Hymer NA)! You do you, though. :)
We actually love driving our home everywhere.
It was sad.:(
(I know I need to go and try one out, but we’re in the SF Bay Area and I have to drive at least 50-70 mi to find a dealership that carries them. And I want to get my ducks lined up first before I present the option to him. I know he’s going to squawk at the price, but I think we’ll get our moneys worth out of it in comfort and increased travel.)
Oh!
Good luck!!
How long will you be visiting Austin? I'll treat you to a fancy coffee before my stars expire! :)
Hey color me. As often happens I did not make it to Austin. I’m leaving Houston driving directly to Dallas. Might drive down to Austin later in February. Appreciate your coffee offer
What are you up to in Austin?
At this point I had to pass on Austin. I have been in Houston for a few days. Heading to Fort Worth for the next week for corporate job purposes. I love Texas
I'd like a Boldt on a Ford chasis, and for half that price!
Unicorn 🦄 can happen !
I don’t think the water fill ports need to be hidden but I do think they should be in a covered, locked compartment. I don’t like them being open to anyone putting anything in them. Cheers!!!
no A/C deal killer
I would like to see some stripes on Lily!
Stripes!!
I hate the stripes, but that’s just me.
Stripes!!
Go Small. Live Large! Purist here. Clean, uncluttered lines. (The ‘53 Studebaker is the most beautiful car ever designed, IMHO, but by 1955, it was so junked up with chrome as to be unrecognizable.)
I think the 50's produced some of the most beautiful cars ever @@trishbenedict6588
Looks like the Yanks are going the European way folks! Not before time.
Solis... More like Soulless.
LOL. Great observation
Over priced
