Hey Bob, love how you are always re-inventing yourself! I love too, that you always provide an example for how anyone can live cheaply and make a simple build. I can't wait to see your build! I love the wisdom in how you put freedom as your top priority in life and you truly are living your best life!
Congratulations on your new Subaru and enjoying your freedom. You have helped alot of people and deserve to be happy. We love our Subaru has over 200k miles.
I live in Maine and there are a TON of Subaru owners here. I see them everywhere. Maine has some harsh winters, numerous unpaved gravel roads, farms, mountains, mostly two-lane winding roads, and lots of camping in the woods. Plus, most Mainers drive a lot because there's usually a fair bit of distance between towns and cities, so it says a lot that Subaru is popular here. I think you made a great choice!
So happy for you! I traveled this year for 3 months all over Alaska and Northern Canada in my RAV4. Absolutely loved it. So comfortable and cozy. My kids don’t understand why I want to live in it, but it is all about the freedom. ❤
I HAVE THE SAME Subaru; you are right; it goes through everything easily. I am in northern Minnesota, and it's amazing in both snow and mud. Great choice.
I dream of a schoolie. Not too big but the thought of freedom of being able to move my hole house as desired and no rent is very appealing. I need freedom after taking care of elderly parents for half my life. That gave me some major mental health issues. I feel you, follow your heart. ❤❤
Congratulations Bob - two magical words = Freedom and Happiness. Sounds like you are pursuing both with everything you've got - I say go for it! (I am almost 10 years your senior, take care of your health and wear that Subaru absolutely out!). 👍👍
Congratulations Bob, your happiness is obvious! After everything you've done for others, you deserve a change of pace. Thank you, I Love You, and I'll see you down the road!! ☮♥😎
I have a 2002 Ford E350 van that started life as an NBC Bay Area news van. When I'm not housesitting, it's my bedroom, and it's home for my stuff. But I don't "live in a van." I live in a city, and sleep in a van. My daily driver is a 2013 Honda Fit, as the van is too big and thirsty (6.8 liter V10 engine) to use as in-town transportation. Two very different vehicles together meet my needs. No rent, mortgage, utility bills and car payments allow a measure of financial freedom I never had as a renter or homeowner.
Fabulous Bob, I just turned 70 myself and like you I have been steadily downsizing my rigs. I currently have a van which I will be giving to my daughter. I am going to start living out of my Prius and tent. Pretty amazing. I've gone from travel trailers to motorhomes to vans and finally back to a car. Right back to where I started. Best wishes.
Hi Bob- kudos to you! At 69 you are very young at heart- and this video proves it. I’m 54, retired, in South Carolina and bought the Outback Wilderness’24. It’s amazing and I did the ceramic tint to keep heat out, skid plates to protect trans, engine, dif, fog lights, two Thule cargo roof boxes and a side awning. I don’t use a fridge- just a nice cooler that sits behind the passenger seat on the floor. I’d recommend the Exped MegaMat 10 which is durable and comfortable, the other half of the back I place Rubbermaid bins that are 5”tall and fit perfectly in height with the mattress. Walmart has a great table to pull out of the tail gate and stores perfectly under the half of the mattress and levels it out. If you would like more information or photos, please let me know. Love to show you my simple build. You are an inspiration to us all and enjoy your holiday season!
I’m so happy to hear you are car camping/living and loving it. I’ve been living out of a Prius for 4 years and I LOVE IT! 45/50 MPG and I drive anywhere anytime just because….true freedom. Enjoy!
I just came off 8 months in a Chevy traverse. Was great for a couple months but all the bending finally did my back in. I am still recovering. I ended up with two blown discs and two pinched nerves. Be careful.
That was a surprise! I have a 2018 Subaru Forester with almost 100,000 miles on it and it's been a great car. Have taken it places I probably should not have but it's always got me out.
6 years in my Chevy van and... I'll look forward to seeing what you do with that... I'd miss the space and privacy... but you've got things aligned. Congratulations and thanks for years of inspiration.
I was born the same year as you, Bob, and we are very different. I do not crave travel and I really enjoy my little condo. That said, I am very grateful to you for your work. I take great comfort knowing that I would not have to live on a sidewalk if my finances took a big hit. The news reports about Medicare and Social Security being compromised with the new administration don't scare me nearly as much as they would if I hadn't seen your videos. I may not want to be a nomad, but I know that I could do it should the need arise. Thank you.
Bob, I have a wonderful idea for the old ambulance. Save it for your museum. You could include a place to play the videos, the ones showing the build and the lifestyle. Trust me you are THAT famous. WHO's with Me??
Wow Bob I am so happy for you! Truly!! Im sitting here audibly saying " wow thats great, wonderful job, that warranty brings security" Over the moon happy for you and that you listened to yourself and happiness. Thank you for being a consistent beacon of inspiration
I’ve been traveling part time in my Subaru Outback, and it works well. I’ve been thinking about getting a camper van, but you have literally changed my mind for now. I really look forward to what you do with your build!! You always lift me up to follow my dreams, thank you!
Congratulations, Bob! In my opinion you made an excellent choice. The only car I ever bought new was my 2003 Subaru Forester and I still have it. I couldn't afford a RAV4 either, so what I did was I sat in the Subaru dealership repairs waiting room where I figured people are generally the most pissed off at their car and I asked people questions about their Subarus. They gave me the most positive answers! So that pretty much sealed the deal for me. Enjoy your freedom.
Congrats! Freedom is important, but so is your work for the community! Thanks so much for your input in my personal choice in 2018 to sell everything and go live on my boat. Best thing ever!
Exciting News! I love that you are able to follow your heart!! I bought a Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness (love it) and I am chomping at the bit to build it out and hit the road!! Tied to my job still at the moment...but hoping to escape soon!!
Subaru Forester... tempting! Am 80, and just got back from a trip up the west coast in my little 2013 Ford Transit Connect van. Went offroad all over the place... 7.2" clearance, FWD goes through most anything except heavy sand. Only 3600 pounds, small and light. Am not comfortable way offroad in much larger, heavier vehicles. Your Subaru looks perfect... should even get you through the occasional sand trap. Space for sleeping? Hey, as long as you can sit up inside, no problem. And it looks like a generic car... perfect for stealth camping!
😮 Congratulations Bob! What a phenomenal commitment to minimalism and adventure! We all love your channel and please have every adventure that makes your heart sing.
I’m so happy for you. You are a treasure man ❤️ This is the commercial Subaru didn’t know they needed but it’s everything car commercials TRY to show but this is REAL So excited for your new adventures 😎
Hey Bob, I’m presently driving a ‘23 Rav 4 Hybrid AWD and getting 43.1 mpg no matter how I drive it. That’s pretty much in town. DoorDash miles. Perfect for dashing. Never gave it much thought about making it a home. Till now. Maybe I’ve got the perfect rig.
What!! When I think of an older ambulance, there are some great qualities. But some drawbacks. And sometimes, it's time for a big change. Going from sticks and bricks to a traveling nomatic life is a huge one that I've been trying very hard to start. And you have done that in Spades. So I pray that you will enjoy your transformation into a camping/ traveling car. With your small trailer, you will be cozy and happy. We will be following your build out videos. Thanks Bob
I have a 2006 Scion XB that I bought just last year. I love that little thing! The back seats fold down so it can easily be made into a camper. I’ve also considered getting a Forester when/if I replace the Scion. Congratulations on getting your perfect new home!!!
Bob I can “hear” your heart sing in every word you spoke. I laughed when you described the Subaru’s technology. May you have 100,000 miles of happy trails. 😊
Well, gotta say... totally did not see this coming! I'm loving your enthusiasm for this next home & hope it all works for you. Thanks for the video & I'll be anticipating the next one. Congratulations!
I part time in my RAV4 and LOVE it! Welcome back to the tiny of vanlife travel LOL! Glad to see you look so happy and enjoy following you on your travels!
That is my next vehicle before seeing this. I can't wait to see how you build it out. Tacoma was my choice also as I have been driving a truck for 20 yrs. I hope you enjoy your new wheels!❤
What a fantastic choice you've made! My heart even sings to go out with an electric bike with a little trailer these days. Maybe I have an Itchy bottom.

Me too!😂

Wow Bob I am so happy for you! Truly!! Im sitting here audibly saying " wow thats great, wonderful job, that warranty brings security" Over the moon happy for you and that you listened to yourself and happiness. Thank you for being a consistent beacon of inspiration
So glad to see you happy you really inspire me and everyone else
I’ve been traveling part time in my Subaru Outback, and it works well. I’ve been thinking about getting a camper van, but you have literally changed my mind for now. I really look forward to what you do with your build!! You always lift me up to follow my dreams, thank you!
Good on you Bob. Wish I got better gas mileage, but I love my van!
I love love love my Ford Transit campervan. It's perfect for me.
Trailer with vehicle makes sense. Been full timing in an F150 and 25’ Airstream.
Fancy!
I’m 62. Started 40’ Class A. Now Subaru Crosstrek & it IS my home. It’s my happy place. There’s no way to express how freeing it is. Take Care!!
Gutted and built out my 2019 Forester this year. Absolutely love it
Congrats! Enjoy! Thanks so much for sharing 💜
Thank You Bob, Great Saturday Morning Video 👍
😮 Congratulations Bob!
What a phenomenal commitment to minimalism and adventure! We all love your channel and please have every adventure that makes your heart sing.
I’m so happy for you.
You are a treasure man ❤️
This is the commercial Subaru didn’t know they needed but it’s everything car commercials TRY to show but this is REAL
So excited for your new adventures
😎
Good for you!!! You are a role model for insight, self awareness and making change.
No ambulance 😮 Well I’m happy that your happy. How is Cody liking the car?
Hey Bob, I’m presently driving a ‘23 Rav 4 Hybrid AWD and getting 43.1 mpg no matter how I drive it. That’s pretty much in town. DoorDash miles. Perfect for dashing. Never gave it much thought about making it a home. Till now. Maybe I’ve got the perfect rig.
Congratulations Bob ! Happy Trails!
Love that you are listening to your heart. May you be blessed.
Thanks Bob
Hello Bob, Thanks for sharing ! I am so happy for you! ❤
Good video. I didn’t see this coming. You are doing you and are happy, that’s what it is about.
I have a 2006 Scion XB that I bought just last year. I love that little thing! The back seats fold down so it can easily be made into a camper. I’ve also considered getting a Forester when/if I replace the Scion. Congratulations on getting your perfect new home!!!
As someone who travels in a Versa Note, I love this! The gas mileage and low profile (no one notices me) can't be beat.
Congratulations Bob. Glad that you still follow your heart!
Looking forward to videos about the Subaru build…
Good for you Bob! Enjoy!
Btw we love our Subaru, 12 years old and going strong!
I bought a Forester this year. I'm excited to see what you do with yours!
You are so awesome and surprising..Good luck 🏕✌🏿
I part time in my RAV4 and LOVE it! Welcome back to the tiny of vanlife travel LOL! Glad to see you look so happy and enjoy following you on your travels!
Interesting how this all evolved. Wow. It’s still all about the heart
That is my next vehicle before seeing this. I can't wait to see how you build it out. Tacoma was my choice also as I have been driving a truck for 20 yrs. I hope you enjoy your new wheels!❤
Same! Currently have a Tacoma and I love it! I would like to get a Subaru eventually. Drove my in-laws and it is a great vehicle. Congrats Bob!
Wow...good for you Bob...wishing you safe and happy travels my friend.
So happy for you Bob 🥳🥳🥳🙌
Way to go Bob! You are an inspiration to all of us! Can't wait to see your build in your new car!

Love your enthusiasm! Freedom, happiness in following your heart! Looking forward to seeing your build.
What a fantastic choice you've made! My heart even sings to go out with an electric bike with a little trailer these days. Maybe I have an Itchy bottom.
