Since I'm an introvert, I did bond with Connor really well and I like him a lot. Perhaps not as much as Ezio, but I would put him in my top 5 characters. I also think the worst thing about brotherhood is that if you fail full synch, you must restart the whole mission. We must also note that Ubisoft Sofia (AC Rogue's developers) didn't make a main AC game before and had only 8 months to create AC Rogue.

I did as well. Plus he's from a warrior society which gave him a different approach than most assassin's in the series. Of all the game AC4 is the only one where I found myself mostly bored with the story and checking out of it. Besides a few scenes here and there not much is memorable. The trailer made me think it was also going to bring back assassin recruits in some way, like Arno was going to work his way up the ran and maybe recruit allied assassin's to the revolution and more,, but if you're a single player gamer like me you're pretty much screwed. Instead you mostly get a love story and the revolution is primarily in the background. Ac Brotherhood did the love story better with the side missions related to it, being both tragic and compelling enough not to overshadow the overall conflict of the story.

It would have been cool if Jacob used gang members and Evie recruited and used assassin's. Would have added more to the game.

I'm a Connor defender, he's probably got the drippiest default robes in the whole franchise and his fighting style with the tomahawk is iconic. He's not the charismatic ladies man like Ezio was, he's much more introverted and thoughtful.
His arguments with Achilles over action vs inaction, and his interactions with Haytham and the other Templars were the deepest we've seen the protagonist or the games themselves actually discuss the ideologies of the two factions.

I know this was posted a while ago, but I really wanted to add something. About Assassin's Creed 3 and Connors story, I fully understand your view point on him. And him being nothing like Ezio, but Connor is a character who suffered a terrible experience and most likely had some kind of child hood trauma (But which assassin doesn't have that?) Connor wanted justice and maybe he was dull or maybe even selfish or naive but then again he was still young and never really knew a way to go about things. Connor is entirely a character seen with a introverted and philosophical personally, which he is but is also a person with heart even expressing discomfort after killing William Johnson. He wanted to believe in the Templars and Assassins working together even if it was impossible. We do get to understand Connor more as a person in the homestead mission which really show what Connor is really like outside of battle and away from everything, we can see him be funny, shy, happy, humble, worried and all of the above. It's kinda like when you enter a classroom and your friend isn't there so you become quiet and don't say much,, but when they are there it's a total change up. Connor reminds me of Charles Smith from Red Dead Redemption 2 with their personally. Connor can be dull but it's more of a cover up to how he really is. This probably makes no sense but thats my take anyway Bye!

I also loved that you could be either a lone wolf, or grow yourself some other Assassins by your side to match the Squad Haytham gathered. Connor had a much different upbringing with watching almost his entire tribe (including his mother) die. That's quite a bit different from Ezio. So of course Connor would have a totally separate attitude. People seemed to me to want more of the same which they did not get. I found Connor to be a step in the right direction. I not agree with Unity. I think one of the problems with AC3 is that the story centers too much in the american revolution. Is a game about the revolution with an Assassin, not a game about an Assassin in the american revolution. That is one of the reasons Connor failed as a protagonist, he was not the important thing in the story, the revolution was.
Unity do that thing perfectly in my opinion, is the story of an assassin in the french revolution, the time period is relevant in the story but the game centers in Arno. Not liking the story is a completely valid opinion, but wanting that the story centered more in the revolution story for me is a mistake.

I got bored with Unity. But decided to give it a try in the first place because people were telling me it had a good story and good parkour. But i found the story and france to be boring as hell and depressing honestly. I played Syndicate and honestly my favourite thing about it was in the Jack the ripper dlc, short as it was. But you're on point, that game was repetitive as hell.
My problem with Brotherhood however, despite being one of my favourite, is how that is when the series started to get really easy with its combat.
You felt like a master Assassin sure, but there was no challenge anymore.
Same with revelations, but that one just felt so off. I didn't like Constantinople, and i hated how they just jumped ahead so many years, having Ezio just leave Italy behind all of a sudden.
Rogue had an amazing story in my opinion, but gameplay wise it did mostly feel like Black Flag, except that now you kill Assassin's instead and some can ambush you. I loved seeing more of Haytham, but Shay felt like i character i could connect to, as i've been ostracized and treated poorly in the past for pointing out how wrong some peoples behaviors are in places like a martial arts club where there often is an arrogant cult like mentality going on.
The last one i've played was Odyssey. It's a fun game if you ignore the historical inaccuracies, and how ridiculous the powers you can get are.
But it took me about 20 hours or so to actually enjoy the story and gameplay. A game should never be like that.

I can fully agree with you regarding Unity. Ubisoft had great potential to make a great game during the French Revolution, but the storyline was just hopeless. Instead of focusing on the Revolution or the fight against the Templars, Arno was chasing a girl who, in addition, was the daughter of a Templar. For me, the plot based on a love story was terrible. Having seen the Unity teaser myself, I thought the French Revolution would be the 'theme' of the game, but as you can see it became just a background.

I at first didn't like the default control scheme on PC for AC either usin right mouse for HP but i got used to it and it actually feels pretty nice and makes sense to me. I feel like the reason they made this decision is because they didn't want to clog the keyboard with too many inputs the puppeteer system is complex with many different actions and u can alter ur profile to have even more options so having it all on the keyboard might end up cumbersome so they moveed armed hand and high profile to the mouse
imagine if instead of on the mouse u had to hold a button on the keyboard to be in HP while also having to press many different inputs at the same time on the keyboard. try it yourself rebind the controls and set HP to something on the keyboard anything and see how it feels to hold that to HP run while pressing other buttons to do high profile inputs... it just doesn't feel good and the RMB for HP ends up feeling quite logical. This video is just mainly about AC Unity but it really applies to each AC: ua-cam.com/video/lTOqjjad6t4/v-deo.html
you may think "ya ok i get u but what about just having HP as a toggle? that would surely make it easier to manage right?" for some maybe it would as its really preference but for me its not easier. that was actually an option in the menus of AC1 and when i used it to see what it was like it ended up feeling very cumbersome and harder to precise than having it as a hold input that way u can hold it and slightly or fully release and have that direct sense of analog control.
A valid critique of the PC controls scheme is how the whole high profile thing is designed around controllers and being able to have a trigger that can be lightly or fully pressed down allowing a very strong sense of manual control over u being in hp and the different ways holding down the trigger can affect it if u want just a quick little jog and then slow back down to walk speed u only have to lightly press the trigger and release and it happens so seamlessly with toggle u have to press it down then u are in the HP state then u do ur inputs and movements then u have to press it again it's very binary u either are in it or not similarly to how with HP on mouse u don't have the ability to as smoothly shift in and out of HP

The one thing I hate about Valhalla is the overuse of puzzle. For example boss chest/boss drop item, in any other game they will present to you right after you defeat the boss of just drop it. For some godly reason, ubisoft decide to lock it away and we have to figure out how to get into the boss chest after we figure out how to defeat the boss. Second example one of the view point, on any other AC game you just climb up then activate view point. For some holy reason ubisoft think they need to lock the view point (not all), then we have to figure out how to get in, turns out we have to find a cave.
Puzzle is good, but I don't want puzzle on every single thing. You want a piece of armor? Find it inside locked church. Hoho still not found it yet? It is above you, you need to find a way up there. What? Can't take it yet? Well didn't we mention you have to find a key from a guard? Good luck!
About tanky enemy on RPG AC, I think I like it. Because I have to figure out a way to take them out without alerting the other, or just let the tank live without them realizing their friends were killed.

For me they were a positive and logical quests, since you try to pry out the information on templar/assasin ordeal, since you are an outsider. These missions let you explore routes to parkour through city or even maneuver on ship in one of the best missions imo. Its fun to see routes to parkour, while keeping track on your targets (i try this without eagle vision, because otherwise its too easy)

THERE IS NO WAY TO BOARD A SHIP NEAR, SO YOU HAVE TO SWIM AWKWARDLY... And you have to look out for islands, because they are not marked on your map... Its time consuming and actually painful.

If you replay the fight clubs and work your way up to level 10, the gang territories are a breeze. The Ancients were each unique characters with entire chapters dedicated to taking them down and they actually felt important when you encountered them. Most of the cultists are randos that you can just track down and unceremoniously kill. They aren't even characters, they're just hostile NPCs. And I could have accepted that if the Sages of the Cult were treated more like the Order of Ancients, but out of the 8 of them, 5 were given the same NPC treatment. That just made taking down the cult that much less rewarding for me. And I agree about Aspasia. They really could've done better at hiding who she was, or gone with a different character altogether. I explored the world through and through, and ended up killing some big enemies at random moments, because I was attacking a spot that was part of the story, without knowing it lol. I remember particularly circling around Siwa at the beginning of the game, and killing the "main enemy" at Siwa just jumping from a roof, thinking I was assassinating some random guard. They fixed it on Odyssey, that much was clear when exploring, you wouldn't stumble upon a member of the Order just like that, which at least drove the story more clearly.
If I were to find a complain about Odyssey, would be how some perks made the game too easy, like assassination "en masse" literally teleporting. Seems that Mirage will have a similar one, which is worrying to me because as fun as this perk is here and there, it literally made everything so easy. But taking the game again after long breaks and all, it all falls really easily back in hand, and the parkour, even tho called unrealistic by a lot of people, runs very smooth. And you know, as much as I liked lingering in the world of Valhalla because I loved the mood and atmosphere, I kinda agree with the story dragging. Like, they could have done more and yeah I agree, even tho when playing, I did enjoy the parts that were there and I do like Eivor as a character. I also didn't like Layla on this game, like she became stupid during the Odyssey DLCs and she kept being stupid on Valhalla, to the point of dying and ressuscitating the "big bad" you had finally killed in the main story, only seconds earlier, ugh. Unity and Syndicate, I can't really pick stuff not to like for what they were, except the fact that when you 100% the story, there is nothing left to do, you can just abruptly drop the game and never come back to it. Black Flag lol I *hated* the parts outside the Animus, really some of the worst memories of playing the AC games.
Now I feel sad about your appreciation of Connor, to me he was a compelling protagonist to a game, and I really liked that they dared straying from Ezio's personality. It wouldn't have worked to create a character similar to Ezio, and when they did, they did it well considering Connor's story and literal oppression all of his life. And as someone who has started the AC saga with Black Flag, so some open-worldish stuff, I really struggled appreciating AC1 to end of Ezio's era because of how you lack the freedom of exploring stuff on your own.

for ac2, there’s that one crypt where you gotta wall run to finish it. i play on console and that feels damn near impossible, i only beat it by pure luck

Im glad there isnt a complaints regarding revelation's tower defense lile in other videos, technically if you play the game right, you only do it once during the tutorial and wont need to do it anymore unless u intentionally try to get maximum notoriety

For me the worst thing about ACII is the combat. It was very rudimentary and pretty much the only thing not improved on from ACI. The defensive mechanics of having to wait for an attack and merely counter at the right time was OK at the time but after Brotherhood introduced chain attacks it just feels so stilted.

I played ac brotherhood and 2 on repeat for years as a child so even now replaying ac3 I find myself constantly aiming my gun instead of running

For so long I was under the impression that Rogue was a spin-off, kinda like Liberation. Solely because everyone was focused on Unity. All of which I never played.

I played black flag as my first ever assassin’s creed game but I was too young to have the money to buy any new games but since I had Xbox I saw origins on gamepass well after it’s release and I had such a blast that literally went back and filled out every single part of the map and even one of the dlcs too, origins will probably be an all time favorite since it got me back into the series I just wished the storyline could have lasted longer but I’m glad they didn’t drag it out because it would have left me with a dull impression from it being milked for cash

ACI: im gonna be honest, i got so used to Unity and post Unity mechanics that it would be really hard to be good at this game, especially given the already moderate pacing and copy pasted side content. it would be like chess and im bad at chess
ACII: lack of stealth tools and mechanics, i guess? besides, some story elements and plot holes
AC Brotherhood: rushed ending, the story is a bit bombastic
AC Revelations: animus stuff, setting is wasted potential, also lack of side content
ACIII: ending, pacing mid-game, also setting seems a bit liveless
    ACIV: tailing missions
AC Rogue: wasted potential - undeveloped themes, copy pasted assassin mechanics instead of ones more suitable for a templar
AC Unity: broken mechanics, faulty detection system and other game breaking stuff
AC Syndicate: the slapstick and infantile vibe
    AC Origins: grinding, rushed ending

yknow the right mouse button and stuff for the old assassin's creed games IS the way to play the game
it might be weird and inconvenient at first but some getting use to will make it so you'll always want to have it

Ezio was raised as a Italian noble who had a perfect childhood, giving him a happy and charming personality, then there’s Connor who grew up as a native (racism was common) and obviously his village got burned down, lost his mother and didn’t know his father. See what I mean? Obviously he isn’t gonna be a barrel of laughs; neitbejr was Altair

  • @Chineseisntalanguageapparently

A lot of story tailing missions in black flag are actually well made, the real problem is there’s too many of them, like everyone wanted to make a great story but there wasn’t that many ideas or that much time to make good mission variety for a pirate game. Tailing missions aren’t all bad there were just too many in 4

For me Syndicate was the hardest to get through. I liked Evie’s character arc and the grapple system, and the WW1 expansion but that’s about it. It was just very boring to me for some reason. I might give it another go, but ya. Unity, while its parkour was indeed pretty awesome was also a let down. The side missions were overly difficult to get full sync on. Of course that maybe because I had to play them alone. For some reason I also just found myself not liking the story. I can’t pinpoint why. It just wasn’t my cup of tea. I’m totally with you on Origins being the best and wishing that I could play as Aya/Amunet

The things I didn't like about each game
Ac1: losing all your skills even though it makes no sense
    Ac2:mission replay not existing
    Brotherhood: the bank system
    Rev: mini games
Ac3: hunting animals or not harvesting them causes desync
    Ac4: legendary ships were annoying
    Rogue:felt to similar
    OG:spongy enemies and level gating
    OD:spongey enemies level gating
Val: far too long and boring

I would love a game where we can play as a man-at-arms or something in the early to late 1400s
I just wanna play knight dress up like in odyssey :p
A parkouring knight wouldn't even be that far fetched as armor wasn't that heavy, In fact Greek armor was much heavier comparatively
Maybe its just my hyperfixation on armor in general but I would adore a game like this

i'd say for ac3 it's the long intro segment with connor and for black flag - the diving missions.
both of these severely hurt replayability in my eyes.

Right clicking to sprint in AC 2 is a fucking nightmare... I haven't bought a controller when I played that game, but I'm definitely using it whenever I decide to replay that stupid game.
