Edit: this comment is very confusing to some. So basically in the 2000s when you were close and sentimental, showing love, it was called "gay" in a joking/mocking manner. Now when you show such level of friendship some people take it as a sign that you are literally gay.

To the woman asking why God doesn't write his own book... I have kids. I give my kids chores. I don't do that because it makes my life so much easier. Most of the time, it makes it harder because I have to ask them to do it multiple times and then I have to walk through it with them to help them learn to do the chores better. Because the chores aren't for me, the chores are to teach them how to work and how to do things the way I would like them done.
Right but this books is the instructions god wants people to follow. Using your analogy this would be like you telling one of your kids some of the bits and pieces you want them all to do, then expecting them to fill in the blanks and do the rest themselves.
Ultimately one of the reasons why the bible fails is because even scholars cannot agree on what elements are from god or considered to be ok with god, and what elements are the sole opinions, actions and responsibilities of certain individuals.

I always hated that they make it seem like Mary didn't consent to being pregnant with Jesus when she literally gave consent and sang a song of praise after. She knew EXACTLY what she was signed up for. She said it was okay.
The people who keep saying Mary was impregnated without her consent need to reread. The angel came to her and told her she'd been seen and chosen to bear the Messiah, and then answered her questions about how she would conceive, clearly showing that she had not yet conceived and had the the choice to reject the role. Nothing was set in stone until she verbally accepted the role offered.

The parents took him to the elders to be judged, and they decided he should be stoned to death. That was HIS punishment, not THE punishment. It was a story of what could happen if one does not honor their parents. Of course, we also have different social norms and values from more than 2,000 years ago. And for the 2 fabrics, the Israelites couldn't mix wood and linen because of the priesthood and tabernacle system god has put in place. Priestly garments were the only clothing allowed to be made of linen and wood.

My mom's a Christian who never read and doesn't believe in the Bible and my dad's an ex-christian pastor atheist. They made it pretty easy to fall down the rabbit hole. Started reading the Bible at the second darkest point in my life. I barely made it out the first time and God's word is the only reason I'm still here. All the arguments I've heard against Christianity have been disolved to me, I see all the nonsensical lies I've been told. God help these people, they've all been lied to and are so deep inside that lie they'll never give you a chance.
@Isayuki01 I have always been partial to Christianity. Though I didn't live by it for so long. I lost my best friend just after the birth of my last child. My post partium and depression was more than I could bare. I tried to just lay down and die. I wouldn't eat and wouldn't interact with my kids. I don't know my Bible was out in plain sight but it was. I grabbed it and a highlighter. The bread of life brought me back. Not that my problems went away but I learned to deal with it. Sadly, it’s Christians that are guilty of creating atheists. I threw the baby out with the bathwater when my parents were “Catholics,” but they were abusive and did drugs all day. Not Christlike. As a Christian, i never find any contradiction in the Bible. Every time some people present contradiction turns out to be just them being ignorant of the whole story about. Most of the time, these people didn’t really spend time to read and understand the bible.
The bible is so open for anyone to read and to see what is written. I know theres so many translation but the more you read the more you understand. And if you happen to to understand the original language then it’s even better for you because the original language was preserved for you to read.
These people seem to think that if God does not let them do what ever their natural desires dictate, that somehow He does not love them. On the contrary, if you tell your children not to poke themselves in the eye with a stick, does that mean you don't love them?

Satanists don't actually believe in God, therefore do not believe in the devil. Satanism is actually the rejection of organized religion and more of a philosophy-- that being that we, humans, are actually our own God. Really ironic that right after the death of Anton LaVey (basically the father of the Satanist movement started in 1966) that the 'Church of Satan' and the 'Satanic Temple' both eventually became organized religions. Actual happy people don't spend time telling other people why they're worse. My reaction at the 1:18 mark is PRECISELY the same as Ben's. This lie is told and retold about David and Jonathan, and there is nothing at all about a sexual relationship between the two. They were friends. They were not lovers.
Kissing was a common greeting, just as it is still in various countries. It is not lustful/sexual. Leviticus is pretty specific on this: a man shall not lie with another man as he would with a woman; it is abhorrent.
I think you would have to have been in the military in combat to understand the brotherhood that exists among those who have fought side by side placing their lives in each others hands. It's extremely close and lasts a long time.

@@kallelellacevej2234 also in Romans 1:26-27 of KJV. It doesn't directly say "homosexuality" because I don't think there was an exact word for that in their time(tell me if I'm wrong) but it basically describes what homosexuality is in those verses.

It is presumably immutable because everyone seems to assume it is genetic even though we haven’t identified which gene(s) causes it. (We haven’t even narrowed down what chromosome it may possibly belong to.) Because of the postulate that it is immutable, it then can be argued that people labeled that way can’t help themselves but act that way.

Many religions actually worshipped humans. Most Egyptian rulers and many Roman rulers were worshipped. The god-king idea has even made itself into the modern age, with the Kim dynasty in North Korea.
A big issue is how the word "freedom" has been twisted over the last couple hundred years. Its now synonymous with the word "indulgence" or simply "to pursue what you wish regardless of consequence." However, "freedom" should be more accurately defined as "the ability to pursue what is good for your mind, body, and soul."

The majority of people do not need religion to be good people, BUT a large minority do.
Religion acts as a sort of police officer inside and individual's brain that, absent sufficient self restraint, prevents them from engaging acts which are harmful to society.
I think about 15-20% of individuals (more than enough people to ruin society for the 80% majority) simply don't have sufficient self restraint to be good without the fear of God in the back of their mind and it is those individuals that need to believe in a religion to be good people.

Like anything, food, sex, medicines, love, interest, we can desire something that is not good. Your desire alone does not make it good, but that it is a truly good thing. Sex is one where there are many many restrictions, for example I'm sure you'd agree that there is something wrong about paying someone to have sex, or it is wrong to have many partners, or it is wrong to have sex with a relative. If someone wants to have sex all day, or they are sexually attracted to their biological relative, they want something that may be good in some aspect (maybe one also loves the relative), but even though part of the desire is good and contains healthy desire, the desire still leads to in the first example an obsession and in the second incest. Many people have desires that push them to sin eggreiously. I myself used to masturbate, I still struggle to not be gluttonous with sugar, and I have to ask forgiveness. And I hurt others sometimes so I have to keep saying God forgive me, and I have to remember Him and to be caring and to be loving. I fail and ask forgiveness but God has transformed my life. Even in my sadness I am never desolate. Sin clouds everything and you just don't care anymore about the sin but you feel it's damage though you don't trace it. When I went through a truly despairing time, God reached out to me. I felt the call, and I felt desperate to really have Jesus in my life. My heart began to believe but my inner skeptic wanted proof, so I prayed to God and said I really needed Him to show me that He is real and that Jesus is really God for me to follow him. I went to Mass and kept watching things about Jesus, and probably a month later I got what I needed in evidence. When I went to confession, I doubted that God truly loved me. I had a thought for days that maybe God was not good and He just wanted to use me as a tool to serve those he really loved. But I said I know He's real now, I'm still going to confession. I met a woman in line and she told me how great God's love was for me, and I can't remember the words but I remember the doubt dissolving, as if I felt that God was using her to show me that he really did love me. I never told her I had any doubts, but I guess maybe I seemed like I was unaware of God's love or something. So I want you to know that God works in the heart and in persuasion. He loves you. Every single person needs to turn to Him, whether born going to Church and always a pretty good kid, or a judgemental seemingly good Christian, or a prostitute, or a thief, each of us on our own is impure without the blood of Christ. That's why Jesus said when the righteous man and the tax collector prayed, and the righteous said, "I thank you God for making me so upright and good and not like the tax collector", and thr tax collector was unable to even raise his eyes to heaven said, "God have pity on me, a sinner", Jesus's response was to say it was the humble sinner who God was pleased with, not with the "good" man. God loves you and will respond to you too, if you seek him in humility.

I was raised Christian and went through a phase of exploring other religions before firmly returning to Christianity. I understand the need to explore what else is out there. Unfortunately, we’ve lost our biblical foundation in the USA so I fear these young people may not have the resources or support needed to come to or return to biblical religion. Many people I know are nominally Jewish or Christian, but they teach their kids nothing about religion. No wonder so many young people are lost.

Spiritual agnostic here 👋 And I'd just like to say while I am not Christian, I believe in the power of faith; I do not believe in automatically dismissing someone else's beliefs based solely on the condition of those beliefs being dissimilar to my own.
That and even I can get that if God showed himself to every human, it would defeat the point of seeking God out, of believing even in the face of all the human doubts and questions, and would actually damage the depth and heft of the faith people uphold and uplift in God's name.
What's the point of doing the impossible if someone else makes it possible for you to do? Too many view religion as an impossible emotional connection, an impossible or improbable thought process to really describe as reasonable and logical; I don't need believers to prove God exists to me. When believers describe God, it's all over their body, their face, their language and expression-it's like they light up from the inside out.
I don't believe in God, but I am fully aware and present to the fact others do, and how ardently. Who am I to spit on that?
