Freddie was absolutely a gift from God. He gave him the extraordinary talent to sing, and he used it to his fullest….and it’s that voice & showmanship with Queen that we all love.
Every British person ovrer the age of 20 knows every word of this epic masterpiece. Welcome to Freddie Mercury's rabbit hole...there's a huge catalog to discover.
Check out Queen’s performance at Live Aid, 1985. It’s ‘only’ a 20 minute set and it will give you a good sampling of the range of Queen’s songs (which is huge). But their Live Aid performance is considered by many to be historic for how good it is, so it’s as good a place as any for your next step in the Queen journey. Enjoy! And thanks for your reaction to BoRhap!!
I love the videos that put the Live Aid scene from Bohemian Rhapsody side by side with the original Live Aid concert. They did a PHENOMENAL job reproducing the performance.
Dasha, If you love the slow movements of this song, I suggest you listen to "Love of my Life" by Queen. one of the most beautiful , romantic songs ever!
Hi Dasha, I've been a fan of Queen for 50 years & feel so lucky to have been part of their journey. I still enjoy their music to this day & it will never die while ever youth such as yourself keep it alive.
My favorites are Thirty Nine and the Prophet's Song. And I must respect Death on Two Legs, the harshed dis track of all time. "Do you feel like? Suicide? (I think you should)"
Dasha ur not dumb it's okay to not be familiar to this particular song before, and im happy that u enjoyed the video and i love the work that u do for UA-cam keep it up girl.
I am glad that you have heard them at an early time of your life.... I was 17 when I saw them perform this song in a small auditorium in 1976. To hear that quality before letting all other performers gave me a very high standard to what I listened to. RIP Freddy (1991)
It was a joy sharing your reaction, Dasha. I was around your age when my big brother first played this song for me on the record player. Since then it has not lost much of it's impact for me, but it knocks me out to hear someone young hearing it for the first time and being so affected. It really is something of an opera piece with so many overlapping styles. The amazing video was made years before most musicians made videos of their music, and had a great influence on the start of MTV. The beautiful lead vocals and piano that you loved so much is the work of the man who wrote Bohemian Rhapsody, Freddy Mercury. With the band Queen, Freddy Mercury recorded many wonderful songs, and you should look for them. He was an amazing presence on stage when performing live. He mastered so many styles of music. Sadly, he died, from AIDS, just 16 years after this song was released, but his music is still influencing today's artists.
This is my favourite song of all time and I love seeing reactions to it. If your now hooked on Queen, then you have tons of classics to look out for. Hope to hear more Queen from you in the future. Keep up the awesome work. 👍
It is now November 7, 2021 and 10 minutes ago all the clocks just stepped back an hour to 1AM. I have been trying to go to bed for the last 2 hours but have been totally caught up watching all the young folks of all races and nationalities watching Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody video for the first time. I've commented on many of them but I want to interject something different here....Dasha's reaction to this fabulous song is absolutely priceless and it made me realize that music is truly a pathway to international peace and communication. As of this moment there are more than 1,500 thumbs up to her video. Though there are a total of 11 thumbs down there will always be a few Neanderthals walking the earth but we can just pat them on the head and offer assisted living. As a white guy from the 60's I am heartened by the reactions of all the rappers, boy banders, Kpopers and others thus far isolated from Rock & Roll to Queen and this song. Again, we all love music. What if all the countries on earth elected a musician to lead their country? And then instead of several World Summit conferences a year the new leaders could all meet once a year for a Live Aids type concert.
I’m a old lady, 69 next month, and this is one of my all time favorite songs. It’s so wonderful watching people be introduced to it. It’s the one song that I always wait and listen to till the end. Even if I’m in my car.
Absolutely one of the greatest of all time! Rhapsody is a series of small songs combined to tell a story, this band was simply genius, the industry said this song would never sell , was they ever wrong, 😆
It isn't your fault that this song is what, at least twice as old as you are? The fact that you have found it now, and the original music video (it was too long for most radio play and had too many layers over-dubbed to make a full live performance possible, so they made this video to go with it). is enough. Of course, being ancient and British, I know it well and remember it being released, and the trouble it had getting radio play. But it was undoubtedly one of Freddies masterpieces - maybe the earliest of his songs to really achieve that status. All that from just four guys. but every one a genius.
Another great reaction video from you, Dasha! It is no surprise that you were blown away by it; this song is considered by many to be one of, if not THE greatest song of all time! Glad you enjoyed it.
When Floor was asked "If you could sing a duet with any singer, alive or dead, who would you choose?" With out hesitation, Floor said "Freddy Mercury."
Nice first reaction, welcome to the Queen's world! This was the first music video in history. These highly graduated guys were true pioneers in performing their stuff, in creating harmonies, in recording the songs and they have written their own material in about 15 genres. You never won't be disappointed choosing any of them. Please, listen to Somebody To Love Montreal 81. another masterpiece of Freddie Mercury.
@@eq1373 So did the Beatles, but Queen was one of the first - I remember seeing this video on one of the music TV shows (Midnight Special?) when the song was released, and thinking "why aren't they playing live on the show?"
Hurray!! Good for you for reacting to Bohemian Rhapsody the most streamed song in the 20th Century & the first pre1990s song to reach over 1 Billion views on UA-cam. All Queen members are in the Song Writer’s Hall of Fame & Rock n Roll Hall of Fame! Tho Freddie passed away in 1991 of AIDS related pneumonia … he is still considered the best rock vocalist & frontman in the world. Queen members are geniuses in the studio and masters of the live performance!! May I recommend Bohemian Rhapsody & Somebody To Love live in Montreal 1981. 👑Thank you for your reaction!!
Check out more songs from Queen you will not be disappointed, their style of music changes with the musical styles of the times, absolute Legends. Just a pity we lost Freddie at such a young age
Dasha if you loved it, you’ll love and be blown away by Pentatonix singing the Bohemian Rapsody using only their voices!!! I’d love to see your reaction!!!
Don't worry about never hearing it until now Dasha. I didn't hear the song until I saw the Wayne's World and they had that song in the movie. I fell instantly in love with that band. I only own Classic Queen and Queen's Greatest Hit's on CD, but it is enough for me. It was a sad, sad day when Freddy Mercury passed away. His vocal range and energy were unique.
Freddie was one of the top 3 best frontman/entertainers in rock along with diamond David Lee Roth and Steven Tyler. He was also one of the best vocalist. RIP Freddie. This was like combing heavy rock with opera and theatre together. Queen was very artistic and creative and always did their own thing. Another great band that did their own thing was Rush. If you haven't yet check out Rush the 2112 video.
What is so remarkable is,ALL the vocals on this video are Freddie's.They re~dubbed, and over~dubbed his voice,to get all the harmonies.A Great Man with a great voice
Came back after a while to watch a Dasha classic. Your reaction to this is great. A song that I have a hard time not singing along to. I find myself blaring it during road trips.
Queen is definitely old time rock and roll. I remember this song from my youth. Dasha, you should listen to a young lady from Russia. Her Name is Diana Ankudinova. She has a voice that is not like any other voice I have ever heard. And I have been listening to music since the 1960's. Her voice is described as a polyphone contralto. This is a young lady with a very deep voice. She also sings in at least six languages. She recently did her version of the Elvis Presley song called Can't Help Falling In Love. You will not regret listening to this young woman.
This is my favourite reaction to this song. Your face and expressions as you listened were beautiful. So pleased for you that you have found this masterpiece
1:25 Nobody was expecting that. I remember the first time I watch that video as a kid, when there were practically only 4 TV channels in Mexico, everyone was talking about this video the following day. And I don't mean young people only. Everybody! 2:40 Nobody dressed like that in the 70's. They were completely original, new and unexpected. (And great, of course) If you like their music, I would recommend you watching the movie of the same name (If you don't react to movies, it's OK, watch it anyway, you are going to enjoy it). But first watch their participation in the Live Aid concert. Watching it before watching the movie makes you enjoy it much more.
Queen is one of the best live groups. The operatic part of this song couldn't be reproduced live. If you want to see how good they were live, check out Somebody to Love (studio version) then the Live version from Montreal 1981. They couldn't do the studio harmonies live either but they made the song come alive.
Someone once asked Freddie Mercury what instrument he played and he responded 'the crowd'. He was an amazing performer. Brian May does some great guitar on this track, too. The biggest pop music show in the UK for many years was 'Top of the Pops' and its standard was to play three minutes of a live perfromances and two minutes for a music video, many songs fit inside this time limit. Because this is longer and changes so much they had to play the whole track. If you have not seen/heard it, I recommend Freddie's duet with opera singer Monrserrat Caballe, 'Barcelona'.
Your reactions were priceless. I heard this song when it came out in 1975. Think about this... This song came out before cell phones! Freddy died in 1992 I think! But Freddy will live forever in his music! I liked and subscribed. How could 11 people give a thumbs down!!! Crazy
I'm seconding the motion that you see/hear the largest, most exuberantly enthusiastic (frenzied, actually) crowd of Russians watching/listening to Metallica performing "Enter Sandman" at an enormous outdoor venue outside of Moscow in '91. They had come from all around the country to celebrate the demise of the brutally tyrannical rule of the Soviet Union by experiencing something (a rock concert) that had been denied them for their entire lives. No wonder they were "besides themselves".
Excellent reaction, and welcome to the musical extravaganza that is Queen. The operatic section in the middle of the song took nearly three weeks to record and features as many as 180 seperate tracks, to the point where they kept wearing out the tapes that they were using. Supposedly it was originally going to be much shorter, only a few seconds, but Freddie Mercury's love of opera led him to keep adding extra bits to the point where it stretches to over a minute. Towards the end of his life (Freddie sadly died in 1991), he was able to work with one of his great heroes, the operatic soprano Montserrat Caballé on an album, Barcelona, where their voices blend to remarkable effect. The album's title track was written as the official anthem of the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. The official video for it can be found on UA-cam and you really should check it out, because, with two singers who were at the absolute pinnacle of their respective fields, the resulting duet is truly extraordinary.

Yep, if i was not playing Queen, Marc Bolan or the Beatles everyday, seriously, my daughter would have no idea. Best buzz ever seeing young ones reactions when the penny drops at how friggin awesome music was back then. Wicked reaction girl, i be watching out for more Lol.
Great observation of it being a play. Classic plays contain three acts. That piece of music likewise combined three "acts". And, the build up in the second act climaxes with the third act.
I never heard a Russian ballad in English. No less from 1978. The beauty of music is resonance. When the night comes, I know I have to hide. Watching reactions to music played for you that I heard so long ago on American stations, makes me pause.
“This video is Really Old”. Now that’s a understatement if their ever was one. As most know, It’s the VERY FIRST music video (especially in regards to influencing music sales) their ever was. So you can’t get much older than that. Anyway, good reaction.
One of my favorite things about this song is the guitar solo. Brian May is not a guitar player. He is a singer who sings through his guitar. He intentionally plays his guitar to get the same expression as a human voice, and he absolutely nails it in this song! The guitar settings he is using are what he affectionately calls the “screamy settings”, because it sounds like a human voice crying or screaming out in despair. It’s a sound unique only to his guitar, which was custom built by him and his father when he was a teenager. In recent years, he was generous enough to manufacture and sell more or less exact copies of this guitar, so now fans can purchase them and imitate his iconic sounds with almost exact precision.
Freddy Mercury's voice is one of the most amazing male voices in the history of music.

I never heard a Russian ballad in English. No less from 1978. The beauty of music is resonance. When the night comes, I know I have to hide. Watching reactions to music played for you that I heard so long ago on American stations, makes me pause.
Great reaction, thank you
watching you, from Thailand
I'm not surprised u love it! It's a very emotional song. And I've been told that Russians love feeling sad!
“This video is Really Old”. Now that’s a understatement if their ever was one. As most know, It’s the VERY FIRST music video (especially in regards to influencing music sales) their ever was. So you can’t get much older than that. Anyway, good reaction.
You want to check out Queens final live concert at the 1985 Live Aid concert. Freddie Mercury has 72,000 people in his hand.
In recent years, he was generous enough to manufacture and sell more or less exact copies of this guitar, so now fans can purchase them and imitate his iconic sounds with almost exact precision.
does this mean your going down the queen rabbit hole as there is a world of amazingness
Greatest song of all time! If you could take a poll and ask everyone in the world if they have heard this song the overwhelming answer would be yes.
