I got this same email, love how positive you are and UA-cam is a platform formatted for review & sharing experiences. So much of this information is widely available & our bodies do not lie, but this industry is heavily motivated by money 💰 if it wasn’t, our experiences would be listened to for possible alternatives rather than ingredients aggressively defended

Bri Hall I love that Bri is standing by her video and personal experiences! 👏🏾👏🏾 that says a lot about her character. All too often, youtubers and other people, get swayed to back track on statements they felt strongly about due to feeling pressured by money and corporations. So many people in the natural hair community is standing behind this company that never sponsored any videos, yet reached out now that so many of us are no longer using their products! SHAME! Eco is still cancelled!

They are TERRIFIED about the millions (maybe even billions) of dollars they stand to lose if black women stop buying their product. I don't trust a single word they say. THANK YOU for getting the word out there and protecting your fellow sisters!

Both of you are 💯% correct. Ecostyler could care less about us. I will no longer use any products with harmful chemicals rather sticking to DIY. 5-10-20 years when there is an epidemic of cancers in black women due to these chemicals, these company executives will disappear. Me personally will not take any chances.

Thanks for the update. Sorry they put the muscle on you. But fact is these companies use chemicals and as consumers we have to be informed on how they affect us. You didn't do anything wrong. I do believe you were only trying to help. You have had success in regrowing your hair & only want the same for your viewers. Hopefully this will get them to make their products better for us.

WHY ARE THEY ONLY SENDING OUT THE INFORMATION ON THE INGREDIENTS ONE AT A TIME???? It’s as if they have to go research and test it NOW and as they get the results they give it to you. Shouldn’t they already have all of this information as they already put it in their products. 🤨

A good reputable company who is confident about their ingredients in their products would have addressed all of the ingredients in one email...why the piece-meal emails. They also need to add a letter addressing the concerns to their website instead of just sending emails to certain youtubers, anyway sounds kinda fishy to me.

It sounds like they are using some scare tactics to get you to retract what you said. YOU are entitled to say why YOU don’t use a particular product anymore. You didn’t tell anyone to stop using the product you only provided the info for people to do as they please. I can’t believe these companies .. they should have contacted you to say we are continuing to improve on our products and will look at other ways to make it better instead of sending that kind of response.

I can tell you for a fact they're not being honest! This gel has so many chemicals, harmful dyes and ingredients is that it is in no way healthy for you to be using. Its cancer-causing, respiratory system, auto immune system, endocrine system, and your brain and that's just listing a few. I could go on to your thyroid and your reproductive system but I'll stop there. If people don't believe it they can do their own research ingredient by ingredient butt this is what I do for a living so I already know and I post this information on my social media pages and website. There too many Alternatives that work and that guy make a really good alternative that works it's a Pomade and I also make my own flaxseed gel. I'm not trying to push my product I'm only giving you examples. Be blessed be healthy be wise.

I had no hair in my crown, I wanted to stay in bed all day, ate anything that moved. Lol. Wow. Thanks again for taking the time out to help. Read an article a week ago talking about the money black women send on hair products and related health issue. Ok, I had to change my mind set and everything else fell into place. THISSSSS! 👏🏽 thank youuuu! I battled back and forth with alopecia and your videos have helped me be more educated. Eco seems mad because the masses are shaking things up. If they’re so concerned as a brand, then 1. Dont drag other products in it as if to say “why yall pickin on us?” and 2. if other brands can make gel without TEA, why cant yall? 👀😐

If they are trying to justify something it’s obvious they are fully aware. There are actual real people who have had adverse reactions to those ingredients not just from one brand. I personally haven’t mused eco gel but the aunt Jackie’s flaxseed and my eczema flared up turns out it’s got some of the same ingredients. So for those of us that has had an adverse reaction this tells me No Bueno. Others aren’t having issues and wish to continue using them Do You. But those of us suffering and couldn’t put our fingers on the culprits are glad for the posts. Information is golden after all that’s what I’m here for. Thank you for sharing.

I see what you are saying. Hair products like food or even medicine we can be allergic to or have a bad reaction due to some of the compounds within that item. It's important to be aware of these things. It may not be that the product is bad, but certain components(natural or unnatural) can trigger an existing problem or make it worse. Other times the primary cause may just chemicals (unnatural). Like scented soaps, some deodorants, and lotions to skin the purfum can be the cause of irritation. Some products only say "natural fragrance" or give a purfum #, you want to know all fragrance used. You know it's artificial when you see a purfum#. Be informed, be aware, and know your body.

I truely thank you for enlightening me on the ingredients/chemicals in so called "natural" hair products. Your video has sent me on a 2 day research project on all of my products. I was NOT happy with what I found out. I basically took every product I own and researched what was in each ingredient. Word to the wise...... these companies are selling products that are sooo bad for people!! I have products from so many different companies( Cantu, Mielle Organics,Not your Mother's Natural, Cream of Nature,Eden Body Works, Jane Carter, Silk Elements, I could go on and on...I'm a product junkie, all of those brands had bad ingredients! The only company that had good, safe ingredients was Shea Moisture. People were cancelling them a while back but at least I can give them credit for not trying to kill us! My advise to every nature out there...please do your own research. I will be returning 80% of my products to the stores I got them from!

Thank you so much for sharing. I have been using eco styler gel since the start of natural hair journey in 2014 and even more after I got rid of the relaxed ends in 2016. I believe with continual use my edges became thinner and thinner. So the thinning wasn't immediate but over a period of time and the eco styler gel may not be the main contributing factor to this however I believe I need an alternative method to get my edges not necessarily laid but a neater look. I know this is not everyone's experience some people have used the gel for much longer than I have and didn't experience any thinning at all.

of course, they will make out that what they're using is best, and been approved by whatever company to be a good ingredient.. so forth and so on. How do we supposed to know that they use a "not so harsh" kind of TEA ( whatever that is). You still are the judge of what you consume or use. If people saying when they use the gel they experience some bad effects from it or health issues I don't care what they say I wouldn't be using it again.

I'm relaxed now. When I was natural, I used eco styler gel and it made me itch and thined out my hair in the top. I got tired of using gel since that was the only way I could do anything with my natural hair. My hair has since grown out and is thriving

Thank you for your videos. I have been natural for 5 years and my hair was doing so well before started using eco styler. My eyes burned the first time I used it a year ago so I just started wearing my hair in updos (because it had such good reviews and it gave me such good definition I didn't want anything to put me off it) I also got a tingling sensation on my scalp. After a few months developed an eczema-like rash on the back of my head, my hair began shedding terribly. That was when I stopped using it on my whole head, but I continued to use it as an edge control. My edges eventually began to thin out noticeably. I also developed anxiety issues and thyroid problems about 6 months after I first started using the gel (I am someone who has NEVER suffered from any sort of anxiety or thyroid issues.) The only lifestyle change I made in that time was adding eco styler gel to my hair regimen. After seeing your first video, I cut it out of my routine. I don't know if the gel is to blame, but I'll have to wait and see if there are any changes to my health and hair health.

Today I used Naptural85’s flaxseed gel in place of eco because I’ve had inexplainable and extensive hair loss, itchy scalp, and a purple skin rash on my shoulder. I had no idea it could be gel before I saw the Eco ingredient videos. Today for the first time since I can remember my scalp doesn’t itch and my hair is already dry and looks great. I’m amazed and grateful for the information from UA-camrs and feel betrayed by Eco even though I should’ve been more discerning about what I put in my hair.

I have a very healthy scalp and I have rarely had any issues so it was very noticeable when I experienced the scalp itch. That's my take on this uproar.

Hi Jess! Let me start out by saying that I really appreciate you & your channel. I am also battling alopecia & working fulltime to keep the hair I have on my head. I've recently started using an app called Think Dirty which allows users to scan the UPC of a product to find out ratings of ingredients contained in the product. The app database doesn't currently have a lot of the natural haircare products I use, but ECO Styler gel IS in it. The app's "dirty meter" rating is an 8 for the gel, which aligns with your original video that sparked this whole "Cancel ECO Styler movement". Everything is a personal choice, but I believe in making informed choices. So KUDOS to you and Bri Hall for sparking the conversation & the search for clean products!

I’m so glad you did this video. I’m one who never gets headaches & is always healthy but recently I’ve been getting severe headaches, having eye irritations along w / a few other things happening, now I know it’s the Eco styler gel. As soon as I watched ur first video, I washed that stuff out of my hair & started to feel a little better. I had just recently started to have these symptoms since I recently started to use the gel. Eco gel is a NO🚫 for me.

OOHH!! THEY ARE FULL OF IT!! I was using ecostyler gel for yearss and I was wondering why my scalp was itching like crazy. I stopped using it because I was trying to grow my edges back and I noticed my hair wasn't as itch as before. Then once my edges grew back in I started back using it because, I liked the hold of the gel. But, not too long after returning to the use of it my scalped became itchy and my edges began to disapppear. I saw your video and just stopped again. LOL my edges came back. I'm glad to say me and ecostyler gel are no longer friends LOL. This company needs a reality check. I thank you for posting about it and caring enough to educate and share. I pray all is well in 2019. May you and your family continue to be blessed

It’s a definite cancellation product for me. Not just because I have experience some of the symptoms you and Bri spoke of, but the fact they reached out to you and in my opinion, from reading what they sent you, it’s more like an intimidation letter than education on their ingredients. Too many options out here and if a company has an issue with someone speaking on their experience, than I’m giving that company the side eye and moving on. I don’t owe them my little coins.

I just think that it's a shame that your video was released a YEAR ago and these so called natural hair UA-cam hair "gurus" have run out of substantive content to talk about and scoured UA-cam videos for a topic to discuss and they found your video about warnings of potentially harmful ingredients in products to watch out for!! With your (year old) content they decided to film a video that totally strayed away from your initial message and just took it to another level! Not to mention not giving credit to your initial message at all! Now (a year later) you're getting emails from a certain "company" "hair-splaining" themselves because of the content that these so called UA-cam hair "gurus" released. This is just WRONG! These natural hair UA-camrs need to stop and get it together! Now there is a trend of videos about finding "alternatives" to using gel for wash n gos, which was apparently enough to make this "company" nervous about losses to their bottom line. Just shameful!!

Andrea L I definitely agree with you. It seems like the natural hair care community is just like the music industry. Full of puppets chasing a check. These people will do and say anything for some views. It would be more convincing if they were talking about all the harmful chemicals in their make up,body products, and hair products in general. The fact that it’s this one brand really says a lot. It would’ve seemed more sincere if she said she wanted to transition to a more natural lifestyle. These gurus ain’t giving up those sponsorships, make up, nails etc. Jass seems like she really cares about helping people and is in tune with living a natural lifestyle. These gurus are just trying to keep the money coming in and don’t have their health or ours in their best interest because of the way they’ve been programmed.

ahmaya edwards RIGHT, AHMAYA! It's really hypocritical because we don't see any UA-cam hair (or otherwise) "gurus" making natural DIY videos for make up do we?!?!? I just feel like viewers and subscribers need to start their own movement with calling out these UA-camrs on their content because this one takes the cake, child! I'm natural and dont even use gel and I can even see the wrong turn this issue has taken. I think it's just shameful.

dina McIntosh For one ,I don’t use eco products because they irritate my scalp thank you very much. Actually I don’t use most of the products gurus promote because of allergies and protein sensitivities. Thank you very much.
And evidently you’re eyes aren’t open to the propaganda of the natural hair community. You’re the one with a slave mindset and just go along with what people tell you with out researching and understanding motives. It’s not all peaches and cream. It’s a business that is exploiting our ladies and ruining our health. Why would I look up to a person that gets paid by companies to recommended me to use products that are unhealthy to me? Most gurus are scapegoats for these companies. They know all they have to do is pay us and give is free things and we will bring our own people down.

Andrea L I think it was revisited due to an article or news story by a blogger (not a youtuber). It stated how before her blog, it was said that products directed at black women were potentially harmful. I was watching it and that's how I found this channel. Idk how it blew up like this on YT though. It's kinda nice but, then it worries me because I wonder if SOME are just doing it as a bandwagon kinda thing.

It doesn't have a lot of black hair care BUT, you can add the info so it can be looked into.

I'm so glad I saw these two videos! I've read a few articles in the past about issues concerning the ingredients in this product, and some women experiencing itchy scalp, but I just thought maybe it was due to using an excessive amount. My Alopecia started as 3 small round spots, then 5yrs later turned into an all over diffuse thinning due to an autoimmune disorder. It sped up since I've used Eco styler... My scalp itched and I went from never having buildup on my scalp, to always having white residue even when I made sure not to apply directly to my scalp. I've stopped using it completely because my hair feels like straw as soon as I apply it. I'm at a loss on what to do as I've tried so many supplements over the years... my hair is no nowhere near as thick as it used to be.

The response from this company is motivated by their financial bottom line....PERIOD! This young lady's video has been up for over a year, but once Bri's video disseminated this channel's message to a wider audience and other UA-camrs started making videos on the subject, then the company responded. If the company wanted to search for videos, articles, posts and any other opinion forums on their product that they deemed to be negative or untrue, the would've been doing that, but not until it started to open the eyes of their consumers and affect the bottom line did they scramble to formulate a response. It's sad that certain companies don't do better until it's in their financial interest to do so. Great video and thank you for speaking up!

I have been a nurse for 14 years and the most common type of cancer I see in the hospital with patients (irrespective of race) is colon cancer. By the time these patients come to us with abdominal pains and/or constipation, it is usually too late in terms of prognosis. Ecostyler can say what they want, all I know is I...me....someone with NO allergies (aside from latex), NO skin or scalp issues just recently had a bad reaction from my first time using the gel for a wash n go. All I used was the gel and some sweet almond oil but my scalp started to tingle and itch, then it turned into a burning feeling. It continued until my hair completely dried, then it almost went away. Idc how cheap it is or how nice my hair looked, I’m never using it on my entire head ever again. Idc what they said, something ain’t stirring the kool aid.

Thanks for all the research & updates on the use of EcoStyler gel. I personally have experienced scalp issues when using it. I get dry, itchy patches on my hairline & scalp when I use it & the only way to stop it is washing my hair & scalp with an anti-itch shampoo. I personally have discontinued using it, and am now looking for different alternatives. We have to be careful because other gels for me also cause the same reaction. I can’t pin point what ingredient these companies are putting within the product, that causes this reaction, so I am clueless of what ingredient to look for, so that is my struggle. If I can’t find a gel that works for me, I will stop using gels altogether. Has anyone else experienced this when using EcoStyler gel? I am curious to know. Thanks so much for keeping us informed. Love u Sis! 💕

I still use it for my edges here and there, but not everyday. And I’m gonna look for NATURAL gels and edge control that hold just like Eco Gel or better because it would be safer for me and my hair.

As I listened to their statement read i thought ok nice to know but the truth is use of a "cosmetic grade" of a possible toxin is still not ok. I don't believe that one time use of any one thing is too harmful but it's the consistent use of it that can cause harmful settlements to travel within the body possibly causing harmful effects. I went back to my wash and go and started to noticed slowly but sure my face is flaring up again and is itch af. Now to think of it it was only when I apply gel. I’ve tested out all the eco style gels. So I noticed they either flake my hair up or get it too hard. The green and pink is the best for me at the time. Now I’m going to go a week to see if it was the eco styler gel or not. Cause I have sensitive skin. Wow. I love it too.
