    Thank you! I got the cane out with help from your video, no problems, no swearing. The vinegar injected into the little holes worked like a charm!

    Before I attempt to DIY this, can you tell me what a fair price for re-caning a chair like this would be?

    • @silverriverchairs3686
      @silverriverchairs3686  3 роки тому +1

      depends on where you live... and who is doing the work (are they hobbyists? do they pay rent on a shop or work from home). Short answer is $100 is exceedingly reasonable. The whole process takes about a day + materials. Materials are typically $25, the rest is labor. We charge $10/inch and are about double what people working out of their home are charging.

      We used vinegar for years until we fell in love with the steamer. The next trial will be a citrus solvent. Thanks for watching!

    What happens if the cane is impacted and stuck in the groove? Tried vinegar but it is impacted

    • @silverriverchairs3686
      @silverriverchairs3686  2 роки тому +3

      Your last resort is to let the inside of the groove dry completely and then use a chisel/blade to remove the material. It's not fun, but you'll get it done. Consider every inch a victory! Thanks for watching.

      @@nabindrasahadeo I'm unfamiliar with the term "paperback caning". Are you referring to NuKane webbing? That's a folded paper product with a string through the middle of each strand.

    This was a great video and demo but the audio is super hard to hear. May need to adjust where your mic is next time

      We are aware - have purchased more expensive mics and problem solved - same issue for installation, shaker tape and splint videos. But all the rest are good. It just takes so long to produce that we haven’t remade this one, and instead have focused on new videos…as well as an upcoming book.
