I have worked in nursing homes. They taught us what to do when old people panic and get confused and do the opposite of what they are supposed to be doing. For example, an old lady freaked out at the loud tv and kept pressing the volume button up instead of down so we had to turn the tv off to calm her down. Lots of old people get the gas and brake pedal confused all the time and that's why you see so many videos of the elderly driving their cars into stores. Dementia is very common too but they don't know they have it yet so they try to act like everything is normal but get frustrated when they get confused doing simple tasks and failing to complete them. I truly believe that our safety is at risk for letting old people drive without making them take driving tests every few years.
I completely agree. I'm a Retired Nurse. There should be a law stating until what age the old people can drive. And Dementia can happen even in an early age (at 50 or so). So there should be periodic driving test for older people not just an automatic renewal.
What is even more absurd is that everyone is offered a free health examination every two years on Korea; it would be easy and cost efficient to introduce some cognitive, stress and reaction tests when people reach a certain age - and make the health examinations a requirement for keeping your license.
@lucynyu333 I agree with you but still i feel that older people get a test to check their eye sigth and ability to actually drive the car.
if we get this test as you suggest with age would they start from?
what is dangerously old in our views?
dementia is not so age related can start in their 50s
so should all drivers get a check on their driving skills every so often? maybe so in my view
@@stefaniamessina5145Perhaps a standard chart based om data would show when the factors concerning age would be relevant? A study needs to be done before implementing it.
RIP the victims, truly shocking to see people going about their business and the next second, gone. I hope their families find peace and get justice for their loved ones.
Old people shouldn't drive
There are plenty of 90+ yr old in California driving
@@Iceyfire12and it’s not a good thing 😂
I’ve seen everything from elderly (and not even that old) shift lanes as they make turns in multi turn intersections, to those that run through 4 way stops, without even realizing what they did.
It’s scary
RIP to all the victims and deepest condolences to their families
Very sad - the families of the victims are far more important than getting a rushed statement from the driver. FULL investigation is very important. 💔
That was harsh questioning ! Its a tragedy x
I'll never understand why parade people in public before a court hearing.

He looks old…..why is an old man still driving?
He can barely walk, why was he driving? People above 65 shouldn’t drive. Government should introduce elderly taxi service so that these elderly people do not cause accidents.
Calm down 65 is not super old. What matters more is their health condition. Their cognitive abilities and hearing.
I know of some seniors who walk, talk and function better than 20 yr olds but others give me stress as they have Parkinson’s, had strokes, or even disregard stop signs.
@@yadiaag7771 Calm down? As if you saw me having a panic attack over this 😂 Most people these days have bad health including young ones so government should definitely test the elderly above 65 and only then issue driving license. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Those 9 lives were precious and this accident could have been avoided if the man had gone through the test.
@@yadiaag777160 year olds are not healthier than 20 year olds. I love my grandma but at some point she will be unable to drive.
this man is old, apparently, and confused gas and brake. There is a shopping street in a city in Germany, where you can back your car into parking spaces in front of the shops. Or pull in front first, and e v e r y year they have 4 or 5 cases of seniors breaking shop windows with their cars….
When panicking….drivers have been known to push the gas pedal instead of the brake and keep pressing because they think they are pressing the brake….which could have happened….or he did this intentionally….you just never know.
Sad and devastating. But the way they treat Yoongi's drunk accident is worse, which is very minor because he harmed no one but himself. And it's an electric scooter.

Was his alcohol level ever tested? Wonder if he was that frail before the accident or cuz of it? If he was this weak beforehand he shouldve given up driving like many other elders have...instead he'll sit in jail, while families continue to mourn
😢
Ya think?
He doesn't say mutch. He's only sorry, but is that enough?
explain !
that is the correct question to ask..
what on earth made him do that?
remorse is ok but don't bring lives back
I'm not believing his age , he looks at least 15 years old .
Life for life. This is murder !!!
He only sorry because his alibi fall apart.. There is 0 remorse here... People make mistakes and some of this mistake unfortunately cause lost of life.. If he really remorseful he will stait away take responsibility...
