If it's a no wake zone everyone should be ticketed.
Yeah maybe if the marine police would actually be out there doing their job
Ticket valued at 10% of the boat for the first offence.
A heavy fine is in order !!! The Captain with the lady on the bow of the Robalo should be fined also.
Cigarette Boats Throws The No Wake Zone Out Of The Window
Every boat I see is going just fast enough to create the biggest possible wake. Given the current and the sea state in the canal, I doubt that it makes a difference.
Boats and babies,
A lot of the people that have l
them,
probably shouldnt
People see the wake and want to hit it without slowing down
Police boat should patrol the canal.....Regularly....
Someone should have called the police on that Cigarette boat. Absolutely he should be ticketed.
No wake zones are total BS because most boaters equate speed to wake and will come down in speed and just plow water at a slower speed but actually make a bigger wake but they think they’re in compliance by going slower. My cat at 80 mph makes a wake of a couple inches and doesn’t cause any harm to shoreline meanwhile Joe knucklehead boater on his bayliner is plowing water and making a huge wake. In this canal you absolutely have to maintain a higher speed going with the tide to maintain safe bare steerage way and you’re going to make a wake.
To be fair, a lot of boats fast enough to be up on a plane are actually throwing less wake than some "tail dragger" just slow enough to be off plane and pulling a huge stern wave. Instead of "No Wake" they should have "5 mph MAX". Still no excuse for acting like an complete Axxhole in a confined space like that narrow channel.
Should report the boat to the coast guard and get his license revoked although they are probably drug runners and don't have any credentials.
you don't need to call them a cigarette. we all know what you mean by it
A No Wake Zone is a crock of s - - t. It is a meaningless, unenforceabie term. It takes LESS THAN 2 knots, *close to an idle* , not to make any bow wave or stern wash. "No Wash" is technically no more than a ripple from the 2 corners of the transom. Try it sometime.
In Australia we have some 4 knot, 5 knot, 8 knot zones, all of which make FAR MORE than "no wash".
And no Maritime Officer can ever objectively, legitimately ticket any skipper for speeding unless it is a recorded radar readout, just like on the highway. Their verbal assessment from mere observation on the water would never stand up in court. A No Wash Zone is a totally bogus concept and water police know it. Thus it gets ignored.
