Yes! I will admit, the ending really did have me in flux for a few hours. I contemplated, thought to myself for a long time, and then came to the same conclusion. Furthermore, I read a couple articles about people talking about it, and helped me really wrap my brain behind what the Hell I had just experienced, lol. Ultimately, I cried. Just a little, but cried none the less. I cried because not only did I have my own revelation of what really just happened, but to me, Star Wars, The Matrix, and Final Fantasy VII are the ultimate story lines in my opinion, but something about 7 has always stood out to me more than the rest. It's something I have deeply loved since 1997, and to see the respect to the most minor details, the beyond updated graphics and fighting style, while honoring the style of Crisis Core, the in depth story to each individual, the much darker look at Shinra, the true emotions of the people around them, and over all bringing Midgar to life, even beyond what they did in Advent Children, while still! Giving us at the end, that fight we've all craved after watching Advent Children.... I could go on and on, but all around, yes! This was an enormous love letter to us fans that I have waited 15 years for! After all this time, and finally experiencing this game to its fullest, there is no telling what's going to happen next! I hated how certain people's....paths were changed, hoping not to reveal any spoilers, and are now in the air, but this is them setting up to later give us the greatest Final Fantasy VII game we've ever seen, because don't forget, this is just the beginning. Now that I've said my long peice, let me add the one Easter egg I was slightly sad not to see. I was hoping there would be a reference to the typo in the first batch of originals where Aerith says, "This guy are sick." It would have been funny to find that same guy, and for her to say that, then clear her throat, and say, "Sorry, I mean this guy's sick." Lmao
When fighting Reno for the first time in the church, and you step on the flowers Aerith makes comments. One of those comments is "your going to catch holy hell" which is an exact quote said in the original game by one of the grunts when Reno told them to not step on the flowers after he hypocritically does. It was a small thing that I was like "ohhhh that cool".
I love that both Crisis Core and Dirge or Cerberus get little nods, besides the Banora White. At one point, it is mentioned that there are G and S cells for SOLDIER candidates, these being part of Project Gillian and Sephiroth from Crisis Core. There is another nod to Dirge in the subterranean lab below Sector 7 - a subtle nod to Deepground being below Sector 0
I’m honestly still baffled how they got certain aspects of the original spot on without making it cringe or corny. I can’t wait to see how they do the dolphins 🐬 in junon
I kinda flipped out when they added Eligor in the Train Graveyard with a stealable staff weapon for Aerith just like the original game. I remember spending a good while to encounter and steal that weapon too
When you are escorting Aerith through the rooftops and shes is about to jump down she does the same silly animation she did in the original when she is jumping from a rooftop to the other
I'm 27 years old and played the OG FF7 on PS1 but I never knew that leveling up to level 7 at the begining was a nod to game being the 7th main game. It's the gift that keeps on giving lol. Also you could say the Seventh Heaven bar is also a nod too. Man Square Enix really has a hard on for the numbers 7 and 13 for some reason
This is crazy for me, so as I was playing today, I'm in the slums where after you sneak out of aerith house. So I remembered when I was a child playing ff7 I run into thee fucking hell house and they'd kick my ass to the point of discouragement... Fast forward today, I'm going through the slums preparing for the hell house... none to be found, get to the Colosseum... THE FUCKING HELL HOUSE IS A BOSS.....
I laughed my ass off! I too was wondering how in the hell they were going to add it in, and then when I heard them shout Hell House, I lost my marbles in laugher. I very much appreciated how much of a challenge it was too. I'm so impressed by their attention to detail with every monster, and using the full potential of some of the smaller less known ones.
I was the same I’d heard it was in the game but no idea where so tiptoeing around hoping I didn’t bump into it then it ends up being a boss and not as hard to beat as I remember
This is a small, *circular* reference, but Cloud's interaction with Aerith at the church also has some overlap with Zack's meeting with Aerith in Crisis Core. (Zack meets Aerith for the 1st time by falling through the church roof, very similar to the way Cloud would meet up with her years later.) It's a small touch, but the first faint *"Hell-llooo!"* that Aerith says moments before Cloud wakes from his fall is an exact replica of "Hell-llooo" she voices to wake Zack in Crisis Core. The Remake seems to have incorporated many of Aerith's mannerisms and auditory speech patterns from the Crisis Core installment as well. (For anyone wanting some fun comparing the two, Gamer's Little Playground has a video entitled "Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII All Cutscenes"; the church scene with Aerith & Zack can be found at the 1 hr, 16 min mark.) :) (Small unrelated sidenote: I'm both happy AND disappointed that Cloud doesn't have the option to call her the 'slum drunk' this time, lol.)
Wrong. Cloud meets her first in FF7. Then bad storytelling comes along, and the same plot device is recycled again in Crisis Core. Which is a pretty dumb game across the board. Dont get me started on how 1-dimensional Zack is, or how convoluted the science behind Sephiroth Clones became, or Angeal in his entirety.
Like the previous person said, that scene happened first in FF7 and was then used again in Crisis Core, except that I actually liked the game and Zack unlike the previous commenter lol
Aerith's kid flashback has her with the Pink Ribbon in her hair. It's not like there are no others ribbons, but the one she wears was giving to her by Zack
I still have my psp just so I can play this game. It would be good if they’d put it on the PlayStation though cause it’s such a good game and answers some of the questions from ff7.
Kunsel from Crisis Core gets a name drop, in the shinra HQ while looking for the informant, and there are a couple spots where you can find tonberrys outside of VR
I wanted to wait to see him. I wanted to find out if he ever got promoted to first class since crisis core era. Why Square Enix got to toy with us like that?
@@chelseykate14 I was legit mad at Cloud for asking Tifa and Barret to keep going XD I was like CLOUD I HAVE BEEN WAITING YEARS TO SEE KUNSEL'S FACE YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND
I love how Jonny is telling everyone hes friend defeated a house and people just look at him as if hes mad. While on subject I'm saddened they did not have the rene stepping on the flower scene. I thought this was important. As a reminder in the original he tells the soldiers not too step in the flowers and then without realising he ends up walking all over them and the soldiers try to point this out too him. I loved this interaction in the original game I was gutted when it was not in the remake.
I agree now it's worth saying the point of that in the original was to show an element of connection between him and Airith. And in fairness they managed to show this connection another way. But like you said I kept expecting it too happen in 4 different parts of the scene so I built my self up even more. Never mind
It is in there...during the fight if you step on the flowers you get some fun dialogue. Also before that if you walk through the flowers as Cloud, Aerith says now she has start working all over again. :) by the ways you can make Reno step on the flowers in the fight too. It’s incredible how much thought and care went into this game
Donta Crowder following the goo scene annoyed me. I soooo prefer the original following the massive amount of corpses and blood. It really gave you a sense of terror to the power of this person that you’re chasing. This one did things in a different way, I’m not saying I don’t like it, I just think the original did that scene so much better.
What I liked about that interaction was that the shinra troops were on a more equal footing with Reno. Being able to speak up against him like that. Presumably because Reno doesnt care much for regulations and treats his colleagues like people. It shows a lot of character wich thankfully was reflected quite well in the remake. Im looking forward to seeing Elena and more of the Turks. Though I fear their involvement with Corneo will be replaced by Leslie.
In the original church u throw barrels at the enemies to save areis, in this game it's a chandelier but if u look in the attic u will see the barrels as a nod to the original 😉😉😉
@VerumRex you do realize that she's wearing a sports bra basically the entire game, right? Any woman with boobs will tell you how much they compress and with Tifa still having what looks to be a large D, that's saying a fucking lot considering she's wearing a skin tight sports bra and then a shirt over it. Tifa is still stacked to the rafters, you're literally bitching over titty pixels my dude
Small meta easter egg, on chapter 2 when Cloud boards the train and they are going through the crowds of people on board, you actually spot Kyrie, a character introduced later on, on board, pickpocketing.
@@mimuxx2764 It would be funny if Johnny and Kyrie end up together by the end of the Remake despite her stealing from him. Those two seem kind of like they would deserve one another.
I love everything about this game. if I had to pick my favorite moment in the game, I would say the first boss fight with Reno. in the OG game all you did was run. but this time...I mean I loved how hard that fight was as well as how fun it was. honestly I loved all the boss fights.
That was actually one of the few battles that seemed shoehorned in to me. I felt the scene leading up to it where Cloud wakes up and meets Aerith again was extremely rushed and didn't give you much of a breather between Airbuster and Reno.
I'm probably the only person that adored Edgelord Genesis and his constant quoting of not Shakespear. "Even in a morrow barren of promises, nothing shall forestall my return. To become the dew that spares the land, the seas, the skies. I offer thee this silent sacrifice." This ish is my jam!
@@JemXem Because they're just discount Sephiroth and Hojo wow so original and unique. They could have done so much more with a little bit of creativity and thought.
I enjoyed him as well and thought he added some real depth to the story and universe. Despite others seeing him as a 'discount so-and-so' I think he was very original. Besides, he emulated Sephiroth so its no wonder he seemed similar in some ways. Genesis added to Sephiroth's backstory more, giving him some more normality instead of him being this stoic, god-like man.
I think they did an amazing job with this remake so far. The attention to detail is absolutely ridiculous and on point! And boy oh boy did they nail the crossdressing segment of the game. I was questioning how they were going to pull it off but was surprised with how well it turned out. The whole experience has been really really good for me.
This caught me, too. 20+ years ago, that whole thing was kind of a big deal and unheard of in video games. I was wondering how they could possibly recreate Don Corneo's character and the whole cross dressing thing without making a complete joke of it but they absolutely nailed it.
When you finish with jessie's mission and parachute back to the slums when wedge takes you to his cats in my opinion is obviously a reference to the notorious big which may sound funny but "biggums" "Reggie" "smalls" just cant be overlooked
the level of detail that went into this whole game is frankly, insane, so much goes to the level of 'they didn't have to, but they did it anyway' and its honestly great to see.
@@recht_voor_zijn_raap5506 one thing that always confused me with Cait Sith, does he have an AI in there with his own personality, or is it always Reeve? Because in the scene in Remake, i am guessing it's Reeve using it to check out the damage, since he seems to be the one guy with a conscience at Shinra.
There is a nice nod to AC where Cloud meets Sephiroth in chapter 17, he holds his left arm where the geostigma is shown in AC. And how Hojo mentions S and G class to mate with Aerith, the G class is a CC nod
Seriously, you're not going to mention the 3 empty Magitek armors from FF6 in the Sector 5 Junkyard? They modified them a little to make the cockpit closed but I knew it was them as soon as I saw them!

Loveless is also a part of the OG Final Fantasy VII. Cid talks about it on the highwind in part 3 I believe(?). But still, if you talk to him on the highwind at some point, he mentions Loveless and about how he fell asleep during it, and how someone had to wake him up because he was snoring. He talks about how the ending was special. So it’s a bit of a reference to both games
Andrew Mendoza they can’t because it uses the likelihood of a real life person „GACK“ in this case and therefore its a legal minefield unless they pay him large amounts of money.
I'm a new fan, I'm playing the remake, but I already love how the story is telled and the fights are made. Never have seen this kind of 'beauty' in a game. I really love running around and just explore the slums or making side quests or even find all the music. May someone explains me, what it is up with those so called episodes of FF7? Will we get another game after this one but completely relayed to it? If so, I'm more than happy but will we also play with the things we achieved in this game now?

There is a nod to the Weapon Monsters in the sidequest "Corneo's Secret Stash", where you have to get a key to open some doors that hold Don Corneo's treasury. There are three doors, and in each one you'll find a tiara: Emerald Tiara, Ruby Tiara and Diamond Tiara. Upon close inspection, you'll notice that those tiaras are shaped like Emeral Weapon, Ruby Weapon and Diamond Weapon, which are bosses you can fight in the original Final Fantasy VII. 9:00 actually you can fight a normal Tonberry. There is a sidequest where Corneo's thugs puts a Tonberry to fight Cloud and his party. In the enemy intel it even mentions that he was bough by Corneo in the Black Market.
First cool thing I noticed: Yuffie is sitting on the train after the bombing mission telling some guy next to her to chill out. I would have walked right by her but I recognized her voice and took a second look!
Don't get me started on hell house, it was a wall for months in the original game and seeing it in the remake, when I was excited for the most part, it was downright frustrating and PTSD inducing
Yeah, it was a frustrating "regular" enemy in the original. When I was a teenager, my mom bought me a PS and FF7, but she didn't know she needed to buy a memory card. I played for several hours straight and lost to the Hell House. A couple of times.
I am new to FF games and loved this game, it wasn't so bad getting a 1st play-through but I missed a lot! I remember the theme and victory blaring from my brother room in 97-98. hearing Barret chant it is timeless to me
Disappointed that Elena doesn't make her debut at Shinra Tower. It would have fit to have her arrive with Rufus but I can understand not wanting to introduce another character so late in this story.
At the Shinra building, when an infantry man recognizes Cloud he says something like “Wait here, I’m going to get Kunsel” Clearly linking back to Crisis Core. Surprised not many people mentioned this. He was the guy always concerned about Zack and sending him messages throughout the game.
Did anyone notice if you choose the stairs in the Shinra HQ building, as you get farther up, and Cloud walks slower, the music starts getting really muffled and distorted, like they are having auditory hallucinations from being exhausted. lmao

So so good
I was waiting for that comment but it never came! Guess I should've stepped on the flowers 😂

You know back in the old days it was Square Soft not Square Enix.
7 and 13 are really special numbers to them
@Ro Bear In Aeriths house in the remake theres books with the same numbers.
9 literally has the number 9 referenced all the time
wait till you get 7777 hp on one of your characters.
I screamed.
I laughed my ass off! I too was wondering how in the hell they were going to add it in, and then when I heard them shout Hell House, I lost my marbles in laugher. I very much appreciated how much of a challenge it was too. I'm so impressed by their attention to detail with every monster, and using the full potential of some of the smaller less known ones.
i smiled and at the same time having goosebumps seeing it and fighting it, overall i really enjoyed the experience :)
honestly the hardest boss in the game thus far (I'm currently on chapter 17)
I was the same I’d heard it was in the game but no idea where so tiptoeing around hoping I didn’t bump into it then it ends up being a boss and not as hard to beat as I remember
i like the fact that every boss fight has its own variation of "those who fight further"
And that every boss fight was turned up to eleven. Not a single underwhelming one. Honestly can't imagine what they have in store for the Weapons.
@@CidGuerreiro1234 I'm a little scared tbh. The Bahamut fight cranked up to 13 is my guess.
The LOVELESS reference goes one level deeper - it's referring to the ending of the FF7R.
I won't spoil what.
I'm curious what you're referring to.
@Hu Kares I may know what you're referring to, but I'll rewatch what Genesis says.

These are flashes of the future if .
(For anyone wanting some fun comparing the two, Gamer's Little Playground has a video entitled "Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII All Cutscenes"; the church scene with Aerith & Zack can be found at the 1 hr, 16 min mark.) :)
(Small unrelated sidenote: I'm both happy AND disappointed that Cloud doesn't have the option to call her the 'slum drunk' this time, lol.)
Yeah same and i liked Zack and CC too
I'm waiting for her to drop the line, "dilly dally shilly shally"... Chills man...
Aerith's kid flashback has her with the Pink Ribbon in her hair. It's not like there are no others ribbons, but the one she wears was giving to her by Zack
Singing the victory theme was something Prompto does in FFXV, too.
They do it in a few games.
The Crowd in the slaughter house in Lightning Returns did that as well. xD
Who? FFXV? Sorry I erased that game from my memory
@@RogueSeraph Square should release the next game labeled ff XV and just act as the original never existed...
Yes, but nobody likes Prompto.
And Zack's fighting style mimmicked Angeal's a lot. So in a way, Cloud's the third in line.
I’s settle for a remaster of crisis core. Even not a remake, a remaster of that game is good enough for me just to experience the tame ❤️

I still have my psp just so I can play this game. It would be good if they’d put it on the PlayStation though cause it’s such a good game and answers some of the questions from ff7.

Go beat FFVII Remake...you’ll be very surprised, we might be getting a lot more Zack Fair than we thought...
But how many episodes will it take to complete the whole game? 10 maybe?
Kunsel from Crisis Core gets a name drop, in the shinra HQ while looking for the informant, and there are a couple spots where you can find tonberrys outside of VR
A couple? Where only found 1 in a sidequest and that’s it.
I lost my shit when they referenced Kunsel lol
Same xD would've been cool if he actually showed up😂
I wanted to wait to see him.

OMG SAME!!!!! I went specifically looking for that scene.. sigh... makes me wonder what other funny/charming sequences they're gonna cut out..
To hell with you, Beret's singing happens to be my favorite part of the game. Xp

Don't get me started on hell house, it was a wall for months in the original game and seeing it in the remake, when I was excited for the most part, it was downright frustrating and PTSD inducing
A wall for months? It was a regular enemy.
@@ryancronin7897 was it? Maybe I'm thinking of something else then, regardless I have mixed feelings about seeing it again
Yeah, it was a frustrating "regular" enemy in the original. When I was a teenager, my mom bought me a PS and FF7, but she didn't know she needed to buy a memory card. I played for several hours straight and lost to the Hell House. A couple of times.
10:02 guy on the right side of the masked dude looks a lot like Hironobu Sakaguchi (FF's dad)
True ending lost to time? that feels kind of on the nose when you've completed the game.
It's not, if you beat the hidden boss in Crisis Core, you get the last act
I am new to FF games and loved this game, it wasn't so bad getting a 1st play-through but I missed a lot! I remember the theme and victory blaring from my brother room in 97-98. hearing Barret chant it is timeless to me
I may be looking too far into it, but the fact the Loveless play has a different ending may be a nod to how this FF7 remake has a different ending...
Whoever made this thumbnail needs a raise
I just love that they retained the identity of the Turks from the original game and then in Advent Children.
Disappointed that Elena doesn't make her debut at Shinra Tower. It would have fit to have her arrive with Rufus but I can understand not wanting to introduce another character so late in this story.
At the Shinra building, when an infantry man recognizes Cloud he says something like “Wait here, I’m going to get Kunsel”
Clearly linking back to Crisis Core. Surprised not many people mentioned this. He was the guy always concerned about Zack and sending him messages throughout the game.
I got excited when I saw hell house, it was one of them enemies I wanted them bring back!
Did anyone notice if you choose the stairs in the Shinra HQ building, as you get farther up, and Cloud walks slower, the music starts getting really muffled and distorted, like they are having auditory hallucinations from being exhausted. lmao
The score on the pinball machine to go to the ‘secret base’ downstairs is also 7,777,777 ;)
lucky 7's ftw! =D
I came here to drop a like bc i love the thumbnail :D
