Many times you'll get people contacting you because they want to sell their car. It's your job to prep the car so the selling process can be easier for the owner.
My typical recommendations to someone would be to clean their engine, interior, and a wash. These will be the most important parts that someone will pay attention too.
Also, if their headlights are foggy/hazy, then that's also a great service to recommend. Remember, you're there to add value to the vehicle by making it look better.
The better you can make it look, the easier or more money the owner can ask for.

Detail Groove will you do a small detail handbook manual for download for free?
About what, specifically?
Detail Groove like how to start your own business I think you made one....
Hm.. I've made plenty. Not sure which one you're referring too
Do you have a Snapchat?
Lol I think I’m addicted to watching your videos. 😂☠️
Haha- glad you're really enjoying them Danielle!
Love your videos man. Great to see someone who does detailing right. Had my own business before joining the military and still do side jobs for friends and locals.
Thanks for the kind words Nico! Always fun to keep a side hustle :)
Tip for the cover... fold the sides up over the top of the car. Then starting at the hood, roll the cover up over the roof all the way to the trunk. Then you can put the smaller cover somewhere safe. When ready to install...Put it back on the trunk and unroll to the hood and let the sides down. Minimizes movement on the paint! 👍🏻. Great video!
Good tips!
Just want to say keep it up! One of the best on UA-cam no doubt 👌 definitely an inspiration for us new guys. I know UA-cam comment wouldn't mean much but your channel has helped me in many ways. Thank you
I really appreciate that David!
Another great video bro! Like the way you talk through out your video step by step. Much respect from Ft Worth!
Thanks for watching Gilbert :)
That engine bay looks awesome man! Nice work.
Thanks Jarrod!
How did I get this far on UA-cam. I’ve been binge watching your videos. OMG! You make me want to bring my car from Arizona to Houston just for you detail it. Maybe I’ll plan that in general. But you gave so many great tips. I actually cleaned my yesterday. Especially seeing those other vehicles lol.
haha- thanks a lot. Glad you enjoyed
Great video man! Very informational and you make it very simple for beginners .
Glad you found is useful!
I finally did a Full Cleaning of my Interior of my Obs 2000 Tahoe Limited. I used up 12 microFiber Clothes, it took forever. Never cleaned the interior, so you can imagine how dirty it was especially on the panels. Still need to clean the leather seats and carpet. I used SUDZBox Absolute, diluted it 20:1 for interior/plastic. What is your input on using products like Sudzbox or Chemical Guys?? Do you think it makes a difference then buying simple green? I'm not a pro at detailing as you are, this was my first time. Is it with the money to use cleaning products or can you get good results with decent store brands? Thank you for going into detail with your videos and walking us with your cleaning steps. Sure gave me a push to clean my truck.
To be honest, you can great results with most of those products. You have to be frequent before you get good. I buy Super Clean locally and dilute it 10:1 and I get amazing resultsl
I was wondering how to clean the engine bay and you helped me out with this video and all so just subscribed, Thanks for the videos and information very helpful and informative. Have a Great Day.
Hi from North Carolina your a great teacher ima start detailing
Thanks Victor!
Oscar is the man! 👍 even informs his audience what min to skip to on his video.
haha- glad you enjoyed!
Hey dude, love your vids!! Quick question: where do you stand on ceramic coating? And do you offer it as a service?
I offer them and they're worth the money when done right
Enzokid... Never stand on a ceramic coating :-)
Loved the video man! But two questions did you do the seats and carpet too? Or did you not want to include it ? Also how much did you charge for this?
I did but wasn't much done to them other than a few stain removals. So didn't record
Great channel, great work, good descriptions... I only have 1 question before starting my buisness, what do you do with all your dirty microfiber towels?
The small brush you’re using in the engine bay is the same brush you use for the interior? Or do you purchase separate brushes for interior?
Separate brushes. I'll use that brush for wheels/engine and then I have other interior brushes
Another great videoi Oscar. I love these videos and get some great ideas and tips from watching your methods. Such a great YT channel.
Woohoo! Thanks Patrick
Awesome job keep up the great work you really inspire me to detail my parents car
Good to hear Sean!
Do u flush the surface with water after using apc? I always do this just in case they are easily affected by chemicals and so there is no product residue left on the surface. Especially if they have kids
On the engine bay or concrete?
I noticed that you use Griots 6" polisher for cleaning. I have the Griots 3" inch polisher, will the same brushes you use work for mine? If not, what do you recommend?
You cannot remove the backing plate on the 3". You will either need a dual action polisher like the GG6 or even the PC. If not then, then perhaps a drill with a brush attachment
Hehe nice vid!! I wish we could see the expression on the owners face after seeing the car nice and tidy
Haha, I didn't even see the customer in person. Cleaned it, he payed online, and I left
Hi Bro!!! Did you use APC or MPC for the interior cleaning? Thank-you
Super Clean diluted 10:1
Hey Oscar! Awesome videos, great info, just wanted to ask an important question. What are the laws you have to abide by? Specific for mobile detail. Is there any specific county or city regulation that i need to be aware of?
You should Google around for county/city laws or regulations. Don't go based off of what others are saying.
Ask a few questions at your local city hall and possibly P.D.
What product and brush did you use for the interior ?
- Super Clean: www.amazon.com/Super-Clean-Degreaser-1-Gallon/dp/B000CCM63K
- Detail Buddy brushes: www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_10?url=search-alias%3Dautomotive&field-keywords=detail+buddy&sprefix=detail+bud%2Cautomotive%2C163&crid=28NJH4LU3SNGW
- Upholstery brush: www.autogeek.net/natural-tampico-upholstery-carpet-scrub-brush.html
What do you use in the spray bottle for the interior?
Super Clean diluted 10:1
For the wheels and tires try west coast customs wheel and tire cleaner it's safe for all rims its melts brake dust like its butter
haha there's tons of options oyt there
What solution do you use please when cleaning the inside ?
Super Clean 10:1
Great video Oscar, I like to use APC on the door jams with an electric pressure washer and a spray gun . I just goose the gun a little .This blows all the junk out ,you have to have a towel or two to catch the over spray.I like to go back with some Meguairs spray wax for some shine and pop. What APC do you use on the engine bay please? I really like breaking down the engine into compartments ,smart!
Thanks Greg! I always use Super Clean 10:1 and 4:1
Hey, Do you know anyway to protect brand new headlights from hazing and oxidation?
Clear bra
Best bet would be to keep it garaged or under shade so the sun doesn't deteriorate the clear coat. Next would be apply a wax/sealant on it once a month
What product do you use to clean the carpert and the seats?
Super Clean diluted 10:1
hey, i have a question!! im starting my carwash and detailing business, if i have my business name has the word detail on it do i have have to provide every single thing to detail the car? i have the polisher and all the interior products i need to do the inside! but, i don’t know to clay, wax nor remove the scratches, but i do look forward to learn how to do those thing in the future!! *PLEASE RESPOND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE*
No, you can be selective of what you want to offer. As you said, you can add more services as you get more experience and confidence
Detail Groove thank you so much!!
You're welcome!
Your best tool for learning new processes testing new products without too much risk is to use your own vehicle.
If it ends up looking great you can show your customers.
Failing that go to a breakers yard a buy yourself a hood or trunk lid to practice on.
Groove, nice video! Question on the APC. If your using a degreaser diluted, have you notice (stiff carpet (when dry) after stain removal) vs a designated apc that has fabric softeners built in like d101.
I haven't used a Degreaser in years on carpet, but yes, I do believe it will stiffen up the carpets more
Hi,
You sayd your useing The steamer on The headliner...the heat from The steamer doesent affects the glue from The headliner???
Great video bro very informative. 👍🏼
Thanks for watching Tony!
Do you use Super clean on the engine? At full strength or you dillute it?
Froztinc From my personal use I only use it 4:1, if you don't like how it reacts at that dilution ratio try it full strength
I use it at 10:1
What is your favorite brand of APC to use or what do you use most often?
Marko Lumovic Meguaris APC
I mostly use Super Clean diluted 10:1. I buy it because it's local mostly
Any tips on cleaning suede ?
I need to make a video on that
do you use superclean APC on interior panels?
I sure do Josh
Do you ever clean that fabric part on the top of the engine bay
I'll spray APC and lightly wipe it down. Don't want to get it to wet as it'll sag overtime
with all due respect... idk if u have children or not but i bet ur father skills are like at the 1 million level cause u have hella patience... for me to detail my car like that i have to think about doing it for a whole month and then when iam there i have no patience and just skip most of the process
Thanks for the kind words !
Is that car still for sale I'm in Oklahoma and been looking for that exact color combo. If so any way can get me the info from the owner
It is not up for sale anymore
Your videos are great man what camera you using ?
You using 10-1 super clean on this
I really like watching cleaning videos, kind of calms down my ocd, hahah. But your car cleaning vids are so good, definitely giving some good tips for when I want to do some cleaning of my own. Not particularly about to open a car detailing business. I only have one question, sorry if it might sound dumb - if I wanted to wash my own engine bay but I am not 100% familiar with everything that's in the engine bay, should I just not clean it myself and just let someone else do it?
As far as using actual water and some solutions. I am really terrified to go overboard or have water go on something or somewhere where it shouldn't lol.
Haha, thanks for the kind words. I would say if you're kind of worries or scared or hesitant, then litereally use like 9 towels, and wipe everthing down. That's it. It'll take a while, the results won't be as great, but it will help you break the ice
What’s your APC ratio?
80% of the time 98% of the time 4:1. 2% of the time straight
Whoops:
80% of time: 10:1
18% of time: 4:1
2% of time: straight
hey bro man oh man i love your videos man thank you bro you taught me alot and got me motivated.. from LA to Houston thanks. even tho i hate them astros lol Go Dodgers!
LMAO! hahahah thanks Martin.
what did you use to clean the engine bay?
Super Clean 10:1
It would have been better to cover that maf sensor. But other than that good job mate! :)
Thanks bud!
Did you do a video on that customer for the paint?
I did not.. I just didn't record lol
Great work what did something like that cost
$160 in total. Wasn't much work
Nice Video Sir. How to clean under the car?
I have never had to do that!
14:40 Engine Cleaning
How much did you charge for this one?
I think $200
I hate that...
How much is between Detail Groove and his customer
Northy huh
Where did you purchase those spray bottles?
My local auto parts store
I haven't been able to find bottles with those sprayers around me, I'll check some more local stores. Thank you! Keep the great videos coming!
Well, I bought the spray bottles locally. The nozzles were online. You can buy em on AutoGeek.net
Great work, but interestingly...Americans: all about the show.
In germany, a fresly cleaned engine in a car for sale usualy means: RUN!! That dude has something to hide, a good engine doesn't need any cleaning. ;)
Ahaha- very interesting!
Dumbest shit I've ever heard
Agreed zammap08. Its similar to the UK...
A freshly cleaned engine means he's hiding something... RUN
A reasonable level of road dirt for the year of the car is acceptable and preferred.
That is interesting for sure. I have 4 vehicles all over 250k miles and one is over 300k. I love keeping my engine bay clean. Makes working on them easier 😂
Hell yea love the videos !
Sweet, glad you dig em B!
Love your videos!
Thanks mayne :)
Lmao the battery in in the trunk
Muahha
Pointed at parking brake lever and says steering wheel lmaoooo
lmaoooo
I haven’t cleaned the engine in years, but please take my $180 dollars, do your magic and the next owner will think I took care of it
hahaha it's not that hard to do!
Hey bro I was wondering if u have any videos cleaning a older model type of truck like a 2001 silverado with that old type if dirt in engine bay and seats and if u ever get a chance to do one can u record it lol nice work tho and great tips
Haha sure thing Johnathan. Thanks for watching!
G'day from Adelaide South Australia fella. Love the video's and they're helping me develop a business plan for when my broken ankle heals properly, I think this work will actually be good therapy for me and make some money while I'm at it. My question is what is APC and what other products do you use? Have you done a video on this already you can point me too? Thanks in Advance mate.
Thanks for the kind words! Here's a list of some of the tools and products I use: detailgroove.co/resources/
Detail Groove cheers mate, appreciate that.
Yep!
What’s the name of the dryer you have!😄
Metro Sidekick
Hey, I'm new to this channel but I can't be bothered not to comment on the quality of this job. You mentioned customer so I'm assuming you own a detailing business, but as long as I'm not missing something - this car isn't as clean as I'd expect as a customer. Looking through 12:10, the seat tracks are heavily contaminated, the rug on the right side is heavily dusted. Looking at 12:17, the cupholder still has stains on it and there are hidden dust particles inside the cracks under the gearbox. The seats at 12:26 still have stains on them and you even mentioned you missed a spot on the handbrake on 12:42.
I like your videos, but it seems like this job was done in a hurry and not super clean like you usually do. Would love an input from you. Cheers.
Wow- you really gave me timestamps, lol. It was a quick clean up
Detail Groove Bro, don't sweat it you said you were going to go back and touch some spots. Not like the interior is 100% completely done, no need to come back and I can now move on. You did a great job. 🤙🏻
Gangster Disciple he sounds like the type to criticize labor and complain to get a discount 😂
He's a amature leave him alone

Good video Bro 🤙🏼
Thanks Brian!
Great video bro , thankfully here in PA we do not have water restrictions I don't have to use ONR .
Thanks! Neither do we but I just don't like using much water
Dilute ONR is great for removing bird crap
What did u spray on the car
At what part?
I bought 3 from ur link from auto geek gray, aqua, and white
Ohh, you didn't have to do all that. I only use the gray one
I love your videos bro
Thanks man
Your welcome bro
Great job, did you protect yourself from the sun rays 🌞👍
Haha in this detail, I don't think I did
Water and spray you only use nothing else?
I used Super Clean diluted 10:1
I like this interesting I learn as u go along edit I'm finna sub dude I just started working for a company that does this kind of stuff nd in still new lol learning as I go along
Why don't you have a cheap, flexible hose and sprayer to use as a backup? I have two and wash shit akimbo and in half the time as normal people...
Because I don't
Really really good work man.
Thanks for watching!
Nice video! BTW. Did you ever announce who won the ultimate wheel giveaway?
Thanks! And not to everyone
Detail Groove Oh ok!
Is it strange that these videos have convinced me that an auto detail professional would make the perfect husband? 😍
hahah he would keep the car clean!
Well hello!!!
jasen ratnam there's good money in auto detailing, just that you got to have a good amount of clientele & pricing also you can invest with other companies or opening multiple detail shops.
Oscar! No mames! Awesome job on the detail! Questions around the APC you use? By the color I'm guessing you're using Meguiar's APC, correct? For the door jams, trunk jams, engine cowling, engine bay and interior, did you use the APC at 4:1 concentration? Excellent work!
Alex915 😂😂 No Mamesss
Thanks for the kind words Alex. I use Super Clean 10:1 throughout the entire detail (4:1 on wheels I believe)
Hey Oscar, how do you dilute product 3:1 or 4:1 and thing like that? You should make a video on how to dilute product
Use this handy calculator for that: www.enviro-one.com/dilution-calculator/
APC steaming off at 9:20 lol
I know lol. Dang heat
What city and state are you in ?
Houston TX
180 for 5 hours. I wouldn't pay that if the car is hardly dirty. If I had stains and a gritty carpet plus everything else, than, yes. Otherwise, no. BUT you are in the business to Serve Customers and Good Customers pay for Good Service, no matter the duration of the job, what's important is Trust & Value
yep- very true
Hey Oscar did anyone win that giveaway?
Yep! Did not announce it publicly :(
Detail Groove oh ok
I see the plugs on all videos. What's playing Oscar?
what's playing?
Que musica?
Ohhhh, haha: Hip hop (Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, Chance The Rapper), country (Chris Stapleton, Thomas Rhett, Blake Shelton), and anything else I like lol.. Alesana, Panic at the Disco, Aerosmith,
How did you come up with that badass name? I'm lost on finding a name that sticks
Haha probably less than 30 minutes. Didn't put much time into it
J.L Detailing... Nothing wrong with your own name or initials
Song at 15:13?
Dang, I'd have to find that song again. I get my YT music via Epedimic: player.epidemicsound.com/browse/
How many time did he say car cover hahaha
please let me know :) haha
Amigo no puedes aser unos videos en español gracias
Ajhhh!!
Como se dice auto detailing en espanol?
Saul Gutierrez detalle de carro
