Hands down, the best Korn cover I've heard.
Korny Wong (and the Korn Nuts)
HAHAHA 😂🤣
Instantly thought of Korn when I first read the title too hahaha!
@@jujaka77 TOO FUNNY
🤣🤣🤣
It’s great to see Larry playing his signature Sire guitar on stage and not the ES335
You're a fan of Larry great
I can only imagine the thrill of Cory and the band to have a giant like Larry Carlton playing with them considering the work he's done on so many classic albums. For me, his work with Joni Mitchell was a gamechanger.
Larry’s work with Steely Dan from 1975 to 1978 including Katy Lied, The Royal Scam, Aja especially and Gaucho was rich in diversification as was his input into Donald Fagens fabulous album The Nightfly. Whilst not mentioned in the forum with with Coryand Mark I’m sure when Larry said but my music is 45 years old and they replied they love that stuff they would have been thinking Fagen and Becker. In fact Larry’s influence on SD was huge. And don’t get me wrong I’m a Joni fan.
His work with the Crusaders was groundbreaking as well. Check out Those Southern Nights of you haven’t already. Some of his best work.
@@dmljones2550 Rick Beato did an awesome deconstruction of Larry's solo on Kid Charlemagne. He's a tremendous soloist.
With Steely Dan too
@@dmljones2550 His little fills and outro on “Help Me” is the most emotive and badass playing I’ve ever experienced and I’ve listened to it 10,000 times. What a genius deal to pair him with Joni Mitchell and Steely Dan, his work sort of defines those artists for me.
I love the fact that Larry Carlton uses his own signature guitars.
I appreciate that 81 years old genius still
These guitars are top notch mate
@@blake4460 i know. I own the s7 and the a4.
Something about Larry’s playing scratches the “just right” itch in your brain. It’s so fluid and smooth but also right in the pocket, and grasps the feeling of the tune perfectly. Long live Larry Carlton🙌
This is perfectly described. It never feels overkill.
2:45 to 2:48 is so so sick. I'm stealing that.
Hats off to Mark who could solo the heck out of this progression but plays support in service of the song!
He's alongside Luke when playing rhythm. Unobtrusive but you just know that what they're doing supports the groove.
Man, that look in Cory's face watching the master do his thing
Larry playing his Sire is cool to see
2:34 perfection in the pocket begins 🤩 oh Larry you owned it!
Larry rocking his signature Sire guitar
Not sure how or why but this song is full of HOPE. Like being assured that there is always a sunrise waiting for us, regardless of the hard life we've gone through. Kinda cheesy but that's really how this made me feel. Thank you and never stop Cory and the Wongnotes! ❤🎵
The song is awesome because it makes me smile and want to dance! Yes, it’s full of HOPE!
To me it brings happiness
3:02 crazy about that lick
Edit: actually that whole line from 2:56 is awesome
Edit : actually that whole song from 00:00 is awesome ;)
Man Mr. Carlton sound is forever golden one of my favorite guitarist indeed!
Great song! Larry's minimal playing shows that you don't need a lot of notes to communicate a feeling. Such a great series you all are doing. Thanks!
It’s also nice to see both Larry and Cory playing their signature guitars (Sire & Fender respectively).
Joyous to see the smile move from bandmember to bandmember as Larry relaxes into his groove. Joyous!
Smiles all round!
this song just fires on every cylinder-- going to make this my summer vibe
This is just so lovely. So happy to have this in our generation, and still the records of legends before.
Look at Cory on stage with his greatest influences! Smiling.
Love Larry's play, always makes me feel positive about life! The whole band enjoys the moment, too, and that is the power of good music. Thank you all!
Wowww...Larry is a legend and Cory and the band got that point. What fun must it be to play with your hero. The chemistry is totally perfect and for me as an old LC fan right from the beginnings so nice to see, that the flame is still burning especially here between the old and young cats. GREAT!
You know when Mark is in the background there's a heavy hitter on stage. That tone! I know why Cory is shaking head and smiling...Just like I am.
"The Great Larry Carlton". What a serious Master Guitarist.
Awesome! Love the fact that nobody stepped on Larry's solos. Kudos to the pros!
The universe aligned beautifully this moment!
Great to see the younger and older talent enjoy each others company this much :)
I play this tune most summers, it fits a sunny day. Infectious music 👍🏼
All those guitars yet the strings don’t feel crowded, absolute fire 🔥
I dont know why, but every time I watch this video I can't help but think of Silvers Rayleigh from One Piece stepping out of retirement to protect the new generation of pirates.
I also love how right from the start you can clearly hear why Larry Carlton spent over a decade as THE GUY in the world of session guitar playing. Fills that weave into the tapestry of the music In such a way that you can't imagine the song with out them.
And lastly I love the band, the vibe is mega! Everybody is grooving and having a great time slaying the fuck out of a killer song.
Anyway if you read all of this thank you and good by 😊
This sounds amazing. That dry strat tone matched with that warm 335 sound, and that amazing snappy bass plus mark's baritone and just the whole band. The horn section in the end with that pre-chorus or bridge key change thing, it is just amazing. I mean God damn everything is just so good is what I'm trying to say xD
Cory is lost in the mix
My god that solo just keeps getting better and better.
I love how Cory's and Larry's guitar solos meld a fresh sound with the band's awesome laid-back 70s(?) vibe.
Cory! Continuing to to push a genre to a new audience. In a world of guitar solos going by the wayside as electronic pop takes its place, what Cory is doing is so fresh, needed, and important. This duo is a fever dream come true
This song is absolutely beautiful 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Larrys solo was insane.
Man Cory, you are getting some absolute legends to play with you.
Pure dope groove. Sounds like a Georges Benson classic.
This is what pure joy looks like.
Cory Wong. Seriously becoming the king of my musical world.
Each time Larry plays that first licc in the chorus, he looks up, nods and smiles at the end of the phrase.. like; "yeah these are the notes and they really do sound this good".
The best about this is the camera angels and video-editing. Imagine live music with something other than facial close-ups of people singing and audience wide shots with the accompanying frantic screaming and judges saying «wow!».
Theres even shots of sections of the band following other musical cues than «vocals» and «short guitar solo internezzo». I am in shock.
nice to see someone talk about this lol i agree
Larry Carlton....melodic as ever. Wow
Corys´admiration for Larry showing in his face is pure gold and so well deserved!
Marry the person who looks at you like Corey does at Larry while soloing. It’s beautiful. He hangs on every phrase and is just openly along for the ride in a state of wonder and appreciation. Find a band leader and collaborator like Corey. Ego-less professionalism makes space for so much love and magic.
I grew up a kid loving Smiles and Smiles to Go. Saw Carlton with Fourplay. Fast forward to now, I'm a huge Vulfpeck and Snarky fan, to see THIS HAPPEN my heart is so incredibly full. Mr. 335 himself with the same crew that collaborated with Dirty Loops as well. There is so much frickin amazing music being made. What a gift.
Please stay healthy for a long time Larry , I love you my Greatest artist
Mark Littieri is the unsung genius in this track for so masterfully blending his baritone lines in between the guitars and bass. Cory and Larry are absolutely fantastic, but Mark is really enhancing the atmosphere without stepping on anyone.
This is definitely bringing back to that 90's fushion sound. So tasty...
I'm getting such heavy Japanese jazz vibes from this
Next episode, Takanaka
When you play in a good band its a joy...
Not only is this completely melting my mind that I can see something like that for free on UA-cam, but on top of that, the sound engineering is just off the damn charts. As a live sound engineer for a living, holyschnizzle! Wow.
I love the vibe when Larry plays, It reminds me of the 'feels so good' solo from Grant Geissman.
I would kill to have that vibe!
everything is so beautiful , Larry is also one of my favorite guitarists , thanks Cory Wong !!
活捉野生Josa老师😄
Larry Carlton is legendary...might I also suggest Jay Graydon? I'm sure that would be amazing.
Awww mark at the background. Thought I recognized that metronome-like palm mutes first tho
Good job Corey. I would have just trembled in awe in the presence of the great Larry Carlton. Thanks!
The playing and facial expressions are so good in this one that one cannot help but smile and groove along.
Cory you and your group are other worldly and adding Carlton is legendary
damn, larry sounds so fckn cool!!!
The Great Larry
Cheers...every day I have got to have my dose of Wong doings...
Larry’s playing on Kid Charlemagne blew my mind the first time I heard it
It's not often, these days, that you see 13 really talented musicians grooving effortlessly on the same stage, which is why I love this video. It's far more rare that one of those 13 is Larry Carlton and another is Cory Wong! I've been a devoted fan of Larry's playing since the early '80s, when he was putting out albums like "Sleepwalk" and "Strikes Twice." He is a consummate professional who always delivers the goods, and has been a 'hired gun' on hundreds of sessions, ranging from several Steely Dan albums to the theme song for the television show "Hill Street Blues." I am also very fortunate to have seen him on his 1986 tour, which produced the Grammy Award-winning live album, "Last Nite." Jazz-rock guitarists don't come any cooler or more talented than Larry Carlton. Thank you.
Cory and the rest of the band have been blessed by the grace by Larry. Lifetime lesson !
So much talent on that stage, I would definitely be like Cory watching Larry Carlton play next to me. Love this
What a legend Larry is!!
Made me smile big time! My hero Larry Carlton grooving with the king of funk, Cory Wong and the wonderful Mark Lettieri on baritone and that great band! Man! Doesn't get any better!
Cory Wong you vindicate my long standing love of smooth jazz. Ever since Koz it's just been getting deeper and deeper it's great! The new better era of supermarket theme songs haha :)
I cannot understand why Cory does not have many more subscribers. Come on everyone, lets get this stuff out there! It is soooo good!
Add Donald Fagen's voice, and this could be a long-lost Steely Dan song from around 1978.
The mix is perfect! Props to you guy
This did not disappoint, what a killer vibe on stage. The smiles all around were contagious and I loved seeing Larry playing his Sire guitar. killer!
cory, thank you so much.... ... I'm so happy
Always pure pleasure to hear Mr. Carlton play!
Larry still has that old Sho-Bud, love it! Very tasty tune as well, Cory.
Killer playing from everyone! Cory and the band never disappoint!
Love Cory’s expression of satisfaction at the conclusion of the performance. Knocked it outside of the park guys!
Grazie.
Listening to this music it came from the bottom of my heart to make a contribution of support to these fabulous musicians ... Come on, come on, let's help beautiful and true music.
Ascoltando questa musica mi è venuto dal profondo del cuore dare un contributo di sostegno a questi favolosi musicisti... Dai, forza, aiutiamo la musica bella e vera.
F'n hell...All bow down to Larry Carlton. So good...
Everyone's enjoying the ride 🐱
Larry brought them sweets, hot damn!
I love the style of music you embellish. Great Ensemble of Raw Talent.
Simply outstanding. Larry the Legend and the gang!
LC, one of the true greats.
3:05 Mark's even got that Steve-Vai-hand-through-the-hair move and back to playing thing...what a legend.
Webster just change the definition of SMOOTH to this video link. Truly amazing!
Larry,
How fun! What joy it must be to play with such a great band. It's a little sad, but my hands gave out this year. I worked as a massage therapist for 8 years and unfortunately I overworked them and I now have "trigger fingers" on both hands and they cramp up. I can't make a fist with my left. A tip for other "old guys": Those "copper fit" gloves work miracles. I wear them every day and my hands are so much better than what they could be. They'd be crippled without them. I accept it as my fate, but thank God for You Tube. I've got all my songs I wrote for THE HARDY BOYS, THE GROOVIE GOOLIES, FAT ALBERT, and a bunch of singles I wrote for people like Glen Campbell, Helen Reddy, The Ashes, The Outsiders, The Knickerbockers, The Challengers and others. It's been a fun ride.
I still remember THE SANDBAGGERS bowling team we had some 60 years ago. Such great times!
3 masters of their craft together on one stage… magical!
Such elegance and finesse!
Living Legend vs Legend will be!! 🤩🤗🥰👍👍
Cory isn't about 'competition', he's about performance.
What an awesome collection of musicians and the great Larry Carlton, this is a beautiful track for summertime playing.
Every member of this band is fabulous!
Such a great groove!
Beautiful!!!
His solo is spectacular!
I’m absorbing this like a sponge. Love the inter generational vibe. Music brings us all together.
Just got a surprise in the form of Cory Wong's show tonight(!), a gift from my sister to me and my dad. I can hardly contain how excited I am. Looking forward to the jams! In case you see this Cory, tell Joe Dart his old high school alumni say "hi"!
Mark and Cory two great guitar players are playing with the legend
Wow! Some wonderful talent all over that stage. LC is brilliant.
Thank you Cory, only the best on your channel
everything I hoped it would be and more, love you guys
LC’s tone is so nice.
