It turns into a different song completely at that point, kind of ruining it for me, won't put this in my funky/groovy playlist due to it. Both parts are pretty damn great but shouldn't have been merged (imo)
@@tomdijk5549 agreed. I really dislike that tone, and I think that shift detracts from the song. But hey I don’t know shit, Cory and co are wizards, and I still love them.
Ok so the music is *obviously* killer. But can we all please show some love for the camera work? That smooth pan at 0:55 from Cory and Sonny on the fill to Kenni shredding the flute was FLAWLESS!
You're perfectly right mate....as a musician myself i concentrated mainly on the music and then, after your comment, i noticed the quality of the camera work. These are the things one usually takes for granted...big mistake! And thank you for your comment!
Appropriate choice Aidan! I don't know if you're a newbie or an experienced musician but, in any case, studying such lines and licks can make anyone a better player!👍🏻
I could be wong, but these videos/music are going to age like wine. This IS it! This is music from our generation that will be remembered. Who am I kidding. I'm not Wong.
I know this is going to sound like a *massive* overstatement and will no doubt rile those who won’t quite understand where I’m coming from with this, but as a Prince fan since 1982, I never thought I’d see a new talent after his passing that would do his legacy justice. Cory Wong is that new talent. Listening to him and watching him and his band is a joy, and brings back the same uplifting vibe I used to get when listening to new music from Prince or going to a show. The fact that Sonny T. occasionally guests with the band is a huge acknowledgment in and of itself of Cory’s chops. Sonny is not only a lovely guy, but one of the greatest Bass Players that’s ever lived (He’s certainly my personal favorite). Cory can do no Wong in my eyes. It feels good knowing that the purple torch has been passed to someone who respects and understands its worth, and will ensure the Minneapolis Sound continues to grow and thrive. Long may he reign!
the funk with the flute reminds me of a random japanese concept album i found in a record shop which is meant to be like a sound track to a show that didn't exist of a real book. it was called The Adventure of Kohsuke Kindaichi. it had some really funky stuff
The first flute's solo I love that much, this is sooooo smooth omg ! The vibes are just wholeeesome! The guitar on point obviously ... everything's just perfect. Love it so much !
liked this 26 seconds in - Cory is just absolutely killing it with the new content, i think this might be the blueprint for what a modern guitarist looks like
Marvelous Song Arrangement! Very skilled players all working in perfect unison. This is great music 😊 - hard to not replay it. 11/10 best describes it.
Corey Wong is the hardest workin dude in the game. All kind of collaborations, Solo tours, this UA-cam show. And it's all high quality, productions are insane...
@@iamthemoneyj I didn't write this solo. I think kenni may have grabbed a few key phrases that he liked from a demo we might have done, or from his own practice sessions, and made a few reminder notes on his part. Definitely 100% Kenni
@@Bone2BWildMusic ahh ok, my mistake. Thanks for the info, and amazing work on this album sir! You crushed it, I especially love the horns on direct flyte 🙏🙏🙏
What an amazing Formation! That melodic stuff complements the groovy parts, which are always there with cory, incredibly well. Looking forward to what is still to come..!
Cory Wong is the complete package…an excellent songwriter, arranger, producer, band leader, entertainer and from all accounts…a really lovely guy.
i don't know, his music is just cool, yes it has a feeling, but it looks like forcefully made for a while now.
Yes, but can he dance New York style mambo on 2? Lol
@@mviz2299 “forcefully made”?
What?
@@OilCanHarry2U I understand "forcefully made" and sometimes feel the same way about Wong. But he is a tremendous guitar player and very hardworking.
Excellent music
Nate Smith instantly takes any song to a higher level
What a drummer. I am a guitarist yet I can't stop admiring his groove, it's insane.
This song puts me in a good mood. Never fails
Cory, this is incredible. Flute solo kicks ass! Kenni killed it.
Yes, that flute solo was insane! And it isn't even Kenni's "main" instrument...
Incredible fresh air with this solo !! Congrats !! « De l’audace, toujours de l’audace, encore de l’audace ! »
What did Kenni kill this time!?!
100% killed it
That distorted guitar solo was magic. Rarely see that with Cory. Distortion I mean, Magic is common.
Your boy has been taking notes from Satriani since that colab! As you say, it really is incredible.
@@TheDudeOnTheDrums Wait what? Have I missed a Satriani Cory colab? Where?

Yah buddy that was clean 👌
Sonny T on the bass at 3:40 is incredible! I'm going to try and learn the bassline by ear this week.
Appropriate choice Aidan! I don't know if you're a newbie or an experienced musician but, in any case, studying such lines and licks can make anyone a better player!👍🏻
I feel the Starsbourg Saint-Denis (Ray Hargrove) inspiration, with a modern funky touch, absolutely killed it !!!
Oh, and those solos, of course. Very soulful, absolutely love it
was wondering why I had Strasbourg stuck in my head yesterday lol
Now that you mention it, for sure! The bass line alone is giving it away, but the arangement and as you say solos have a similar yet very modern vibe
I came all the way down to the comment section to make this very remark!
thank you, I was so confused because it sounded so familiar yet so new :)
2:45 CORY!!! That freaking lead tone bro!!! 🔥

"Sonny T. occasionally guests with the band" is inaccurate. He's a regular member of the band.
@@satsukikorin maybe a homage to vulf narrative: all members are “guests”!?
