You have to have the most relaxing videos on UA-cam... I could fall asleep to all those birdsounds! You talking about fishing is just extra gravy on the biscuits! 😁
Ha! : ) Maybe i need to spice it up a little : )
I fished my bellezza ux and 23 legalis tonight. Caught some big bulls the night before the May full moon on the bg1 and larvaZ. I agree the harder the cast that the distance isn’t as impressive. I love the bend of the rod. I shaped some Eva foam to fill those hollows in the handle and that fixed the discomfort for me. It was an excellent suggestion. You had a great day!
Thanks for another Great video
Beautiful BG's! That rod looks amazing paired with the Vanquish. Hopefully it'll be back in stock again
Always enjoy the very nice colors of those bluegills and the bank greeneries filling in. Not to mention rod and reel break down. Thanks Victor!
thanks Dave, always good to see u around!
Just starting back into fishing. I have heard you mention using flourocarbon leader. Which one would recommend for 2lb test mono. Using the SOS line. I think I heard you say about 3 foot of leader or is that to much?
if u use 2 lb SOS line u don't need very much leader. Just put 2 pounds of clear color fluorocarbon, but something not so fat. SOS line is very fat. The 2 lb SOS line is 0.16mm diameter, and that diameter is usually used for 6 pound japanese line. For float 0.16mm is good, but if u just cast a jig without float, 0.16mm is too much. Find a line with diameter 0.12-0.14 mm and u will cast farther and get more sensitivity. The SOS line is not sensitive either. Its kind of a fishing line for floats..
It is Trout Area rod, just standart good area type rod. Nothink special in Trout Area fishing. Allmost all area type rods is like that.
well.. u say that but i have seen a lot of area trout rods and the actions are never like that. Also its crazy that there is virtually no loss in sensitivity for half the price
Ok Victor I went to the web site for that rod , whats the diff. between super and extra ultra light action . Your advice is always spot on for me .
Super and Extra Ultralight is POWER. Not Action. Action is Fast and Medium, and the more Medium, the better, because it means more parabolic.
But lets say Ultralight rod casts best 1.5 gram jigs.
Super Ultralight rod casts best 1.0 gram jigs
and Extra Ultralight rod casts best 0.75 gram jigs.
Get it?
Another great video,, thank you,, as a recent subscriber, I'm working on your back catalogue, 😊,, this is a great follow up to the video on how to set up your drag, 👌,, (perfect example,,)
don't know if you've done a video about them, but what's your opinion on barbless hooks,? All the very best from across the pond,, 👍🐟
I think its an overreaction from old people who have those big barbs in their minds seared. Try my jigs with micro barb, and tell me whats the point of removing the micro barb? None.
If you could only buy one Ultralight which one would you recommend?
Not cheap but not $500😂
thank god i don't have to pick. I love them all : ). This one is staying with me also, not going to be sold.
I'm on a video watching frenzy to figure out what I'm going to buy.
It's a tuff choice for anyone there first time. I always thought I would only bye one ultralight intell I bought my first nice one and know my wife asks me why there is 18 rods on the celling in are bedroom. Then I ask her why she has 4 horses If she can only ride one.

What do you think of the Shakespeare ugly stick ultralite rod?
Any one have a good oil or something to put in the bag with plastic baits to keep them fresh and not stick together . Thanks for yet another great video .
its best to keep baits in original packaging. Or check my videos where i glue my baits and put them in the fly box. in the fly box they never touch each other
What do you think of the Shakespeare ugly stick ultralite rods?
i think they make great catfish rods
Really liked this video. That's the exact rod I'm getting for fathers day. Nice to see a video of you using it. But it will be paired with a Regal or Legalis reel. Maybe one day I will see you around Nick or Chick to say hello and thanks for the vids in person
2023 Legalis would be just fine. The old ones are a big heavy. This rod well deserves a Vanquish, so do your best with the reel
@@ifishcatfish would love a vanquish but too much atm. I could go up to probably 140-150ish on reel. Anything in that price range thats a big upgrade over legalis?
No. Next reel up is the Shimano Complex XR, which is matching colors and much lighter than Legalis. Probably about 200$ right now
Hey Victor, I ordered the exact same reel along with some ester line 2.3 80 meter spool , I know you mentioned before I need a backing, what would you suggest & about how much backing. I think I have some 2lb & 4 lb maximum mono. I just don’t know how much backing to put? Thank you sir !
I honestly dont know. I eyeball it. Thats why i never buy 80 meter spools. The 150 meter spool fits about perfect so.. u figure. Keep in mind your 2 lb mono is mich thicker. It doesnt have to be perfect. Put some backing and then the line and it will be close enough
@@ifishcatfish awesome! Thank you sir for your helpful advice 👍
@@ifishcatfish uni to uni knot should be fine to join them ?
@@mitchgarcia4591 yes. Cut ends clean
@i_fish I just ordered some jig heads off you a few days ago. For years I have been using my stash of 1/32oz matzuo sickle #8 n #6 hooks on small plastics like the trout magnet and brewers and micro creatures.
Give me a couple recommendations of USA rods that you guys recommend for your “twitching”?
I have been using Diawa presso(6’ 6”), TFO trout/panfish(6’), and st croix avid(6’). Want a dedicated long casting rod for twitching. As I fish from the bank only. Bluegill and crappie. Thanks
watch this video : ua-cam.com/video/1vl6bym9Hl0/v-deo.htmlsi=Su7UKMRJWYJ6lfwk
The bass pro shops rod, i put link, is the best budget rod i know right now. The TFO is not too bad
I saw this rod, i was curious how it was for the price, is it pretty sensitive vibrationally? Bend looks good to me
its really sensitive. Maybe more so than the St. Croix LEP. Its still not up to par with the $300 crowd from japan, but it has length and tubular tip and comes in SUL power, and its hard to find all 3 of these in a $300 JDM rod
@ifishcatfish you make a good point, I was attracted to the pricetag. My dream rod is the new 2024 banshee, but don't think I can gut that price. Shimano also has their trout one series that came out this year!
@@12345B is there a new banshee? I haven't seen that on their website. Where did u see that?
@ifishcatfish I'm sorry, it keeps deleting my comments, for some odd reason, I've tried replying 5 times now lol, but search and you will find, just takes a bit of digging because it's new and came out 6 months ago, maybe less than that
Nice rod! It is something special about Olympic rods, that unique feeling of a well made sophisticated rod, i think i will buy this model too. Many thanks for reviews like this. All the best
They do have a specific feel. Maybe because they make their own boanks..
I know I sent you a couple pics of the of the ozark trail baby swimmer, I fished it 3 days and caught 150+ crappie bluegill and bass, I decided i preferred it full length instead of shortening bc it had better action and still got as many bites and hook ups. I need to try the charlie brewer and the other ones you mentioned. Thanks for sharing , i will be taking an inventory soon and making an order 💪
Thanks buddy
I bought some line roller bearings for my 23 Legalis and theres a noticeable noise when reeling line in now. The sound is similar to your last fish on the Presso/Legalis. Is the expected or do I need to open the line roller back up and reinstall?
high speed bearings do have a little noise. but its not really bad...its bearing noise. Ceramic bearings always have noise. You can open them and instead of oil, you can dip them in grease, but the grease adds resistance. This bearing spins at extremely high speeds because it is so tiny but every 3 seconds 30 feet of line has to go through it, so i just oil them and dont grease them. But u can try that and see if u prefer quieter with more resistance.
Yet another great video! Can't wait to get out of work Friday and go find some panfish!
u and me both. But now i got the deam kids out of school, so may have to drag them with me..
nice matching setup at the start. love the 23 vanquish on rods like that they just sit nicely
yeah, thats a 150$ rod but deserves a vanquish. Looks and feel perfect with it!
Do you know of any nice quiet lakes near chicago?
right now the powerplants have the best fishing. Full of bluegill.
