    So much truth spoken for destroying beautiful trees and scenery. Happening faster and faster as the US grows and I hate it so much. Sad seeing huge forests wiped out for suburban homes

    Hello I've been visiting our summer cottage and the season for summer fishing has started, I have really enjoyed fishing this weekend so far. Even though I have modern rod/reel combos I ocasionally enjoy fishing with old gear and nylon (I use braid 99% of time) It's just more gentle with old glass/graphite rods and stretchy line. But I enjoy good drag and anti reverse of course. I also tried traditional pole fishing (float and no reel) and it was actually a lot of fun. Good summer for everyone 🎉😊

    We have a lot of inland lakes up here in Michigan. My Dad's best friend used to have a cottage just outside of Rose City on Norway lake that was very similar. A lot of great childhood memories came from that lake. There were no motors allowed, so it was rowboats or nothing!

    Here where I live. For the most part a big bluegill is 7.5-8 “ not many do I catch a 8.5”. Never got a 9” bluegill. And I hunted them.. I traveled across the state a researched biologist reports. Found a lake I knew had them hours away. When there and caught numerous 9” bluegills. It was amazing. Those big gills are something else. Wish we had that kind of fishery for bluegill locally.

    Unrelated question... I've been using the daiwa presso rod for a week now and it's been great, except the reel seat screw keeps loosening. Do you know how to keep that from happening?

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  4 місяці тому +1

      cut 1 inch of black tape and put it under or over the reel and then tighten. The tape makes it tight and kills the vibrations. I use this even on high end rods.

    Your thoughts about the excitement when you are fishing were spot on, more gear I have and the older I get the excitement is not the same 🤷🏻‍♂️. I also see more and more fishermen who spend more time buying new gear than fishing, they forget what fishing really is unfortunately

    There is something mystical about fishing with that cheap first setup as a kid with a cheap glass rod.
    I love expensive equiptment, but after a while there is just nothing the same as the first experiences we had fishing
    Something that reminds me of your story is the kids in mexico would catch small rockfish on glass coke bottles and nuts as weight a few months out of the year, they had such joy on their faces. One kid caught a huge dorado and had unreal joy.

    Great video Victor as always. Very true about the excitement about fishing back than when we're young and still exploring fishing and fishing gears. I probably did have the most fun fishing cheap gears back than as it was just a tool to catch fish without any other worries. There's so much that goes back to being a kid and having so much fun fishing. Don't get me wrong, fishing is still fun now, but there's so much happening just to have fun fishing as an adult. Our most cherished moments are during our childhoods.

    I agree with you on preserving the land around lakes. The natural beauty of the water and the trees. There has always been someting special to me about this that relaxes me.
