I know why you are at 20k. It is because you are down to earth. You do very good work without fancy cnc machines or multi dollar machinery. You also give good clear instructions when building or doing jobs. I don't know why you are not at 100k,but am sure you will get there. Really enjoy watching keep up the good work.
Not just a "random bloke" a handy man who is down to earth and interesting. Just gave you a mention on Peter Millards "10 minute Workshop'. Love you both; your methods are both key to keeping me watching and of course learning. I use those lightweight safety glasses for .... you guessed it, not sanding. I use those when sawing I use the full sized safety glasses for sanding; especially mdf.
Aw, thank you so much Deanne - don't get to do much handyman work these days. Between my joinery business and UA-cam there's not enough hours in the day! 😀👍
I've been looking for a decent pair of safety glasses for a while. Just placed an order. Thanks for the review and congratulations on your 20k milestone, it's well deserved 👍👍
216k subs now! Well done, deserved. I jjst received my glasses (via your link) and they're perfect. Will be interested to see if the fog on me as I'm a sweaty fat lad.
Thanks for the video. Many years ago I was hit in the eye with a squash ball. I had to spend a week in hospital and it was the most painful and boring week of my life. I was very lucky as my eye fully recovered. I strongly recommend that anyone who plays squash should wear good safety glasses.
If you ever need to fix those sharp ends, or anything you need rubberising really, have a look at Sugru! I've done all sorts of cool things with it and its probably perfect for that use. Other good ideas are making buttons stand out from others such as the power button on my helmet camera, of the volume buttons on the tv remote e.t.c.
I've recently been diagnosed with occular rosacea and due to my line of work I always get cold air striking my eyes when using mhe which plays my eyes up a lot. Just recently purchased a pair of these which are slightly different now with regards to how you can attach and release the arms and strap on the glasses. I'm hoping they'll help my eyes out at work and save me a lot of money compared to the windproof glasses the web is asking for occular rosacea sufferers! Fingers crossed. If they do work it could potentially save people who suffer with occular rosacea a lot of money.
20k...well done. I am a glasses wearer, and I don't think these would work for me. Do you have any advice on what safety glasses I could wear (without misting up)..?
Congratulations on the 20k. How are these glasses for fogging up? looking at some of the other comments, that seems to be the main question? all the safety glasses i have including Site and Dewalt all seem to fog up, and it's annoying to stop what you are doing and wipe them. Cheers. Barry (Wirral, ENG)
They're defo better than other ones I've used - thinking about it, I think the foam around the lenses helps too. I think any anti-fog wears off after a while though - I think you can get a spray to re-apply it though? Never tried tbh. 👍
Hi guys .. I had a retinal detachment due to trauma 2 years ago. Fortunately, the surgery went well .. I see better but not as before. Can anyone tell me if these glasses are suitable for all sports as protection? Thanks so much
Good looking glasses and good value too. I am still on the lookout for a good pair of glasses that work with ear defenders, a fruitless search so far and I am having to settle for goggles which is not ideal.
Never tried these but will certainly bare in mind for future. Though I'm fine with a clear lens, I personally favour an 'Amber' lens....not a fan of the smoked. I like the filter differential as with clear glasses I've forgotten I'm not wearing them and gone and made a cut..... Where the Amber gives me a different filter mental trigger between glasses on and glasses off. I also feel the Amber brightens things up a smidgen in less than flooded daylight conditions.
I was expecting them to be more than 15 quid to be honest, what are they like for fogging up? I've yet to find a pair that doesn't, especially when wearing a mask.
Channelling your inner Norm there at the end :) I used to wear a set of plano safety glasses all the time but they changed the design and that stopped working for me. I have switched to wearing Oakley glasses for everything now. They were a pair of bike riding glasses so they contoured to your face nicely and they have changeable lenses so i have shades for outside and clear or yellow for indoor work. It is a bit more of an expensive route to go down but I find that mine are about 8 years old now and still going strong. Was going to ask, with the foam around the glasses, how is that in the hot weather? Anything I use like that tends to fill with sweat and then no amount of anti fog is enough to stop them steaming over.
Good Stuff... For over thirty five years I have been frustrated with safety squints....The main reason is ...from being a youngster in the trade I developed the habit of putting my pencil on top of my ear...for ease of use. Now bring on the specks...and my pencil is in my pocket ..sticking in me when I move and the majority of specks fog up in use (as, has been mentioned)....Someone needs to add a pencil holder to the side of a none fogging pair of specks...and when they do...you heard it here first...ha... I did once tell a young Health and Safety officer I had safety contact lenses......hence not wearing my safety glasses....I think I may have got away with it if my workmates hadn't of laughed.
Barneys Workshop to be honest they look a bit close-fitting to be able to wear them with prescription glasses. The only alternatives are those awful over-glasses or if you visit your optician you can have some safety glasses made to your prescription. Last time I looked Specsavers did some for about £80. Might sound a bit pricey, but when you've seen someone with a screwdriver stuck in their eyeball, they're worth every penny.
Getting safety glasses to be anti fog is dead easy you just need a drop of dish washing liquid spread it around the inside of the lens until you cannot see it. Old motorcyclist trick.
Sweet, I've been looking for a good pair of sealed safety glasses for a while now, these look like they are a winner. 👍 Great review mate👌 🎉Congrats on 20K sub's🎉 Wooohooo
Congratulations on 20k. My biggest issue is lens scratches at the slightest contact. Since you have been using for six months how scratched up are the lenses? Are they holding up?
I never thought i could get excited about safety glasses until i saw your presentation! Well done. I where specs so i would be interested in safety glasses that i can wear over my specs. Any thoughts?
Another great video. I can offer two answers to the follow on questions, my employer gives vouchers for prescription safety glasses that come from Specsavers, current range is brand JCB, I went for the plastic framed ones rather that the metal "Joe 90/ I do science, me" look ...mine are in bifocal with a big close lens area, turn around about two weeks. Sorry can't say how much. Came with similar case used everyday, durable and the plastic frames seem to cope better that metal as they don't get bent. Upside of instore, is you can try the empty frames in store to see if the suit your face shape. The fogging question...there is a US product called "Cat Crap" (yes REALLY!) ,{NOT to be confused with the waste product of the same name} that in a past role, 😂we sold for ski goggles, binoculars and camera filters, doubted at first but it always sold well. Lasted well.
Thanks but how do they feel like when worm together with 3M ear muffs and a heavy duty dust mask? I always find the combination to be less than comfortable.
I'm rarely disciplined enough to do all 3 at once - it's normally any two of those... but they seem pretty comfortable with ear defenders over the top. 👍
Good video Andy. Try a quick dip in a tin of PlastiDip for the tips of your glasses. Quick rub down with sand paper, dip in the PlasiDip and then left to hang over night...will save those head scratches. Great for hand tool grips too. I have no affiliation to said company btw but they should be sponsoring me by now for the amount of shoutouts I give them ;)

Thanks for the kind words John - getting there! 😀
2 years later in Oct 2020 119K subscribers,,,, well done GH
Andy, Congratulations on reaching 20K. Very well deserved my friend. All the best from North London UK.
Thank you Trev! 👍
Congratulations buddy on 20k, keep doing what your doing

Great stuff - hope you find them as comfy as I do! 👍
20k!! Well deserved and more! Next stop 50K and beyond.
Thank you Kevin! 👍
216k subs now! Well done, deserved. I jjst received my glasses (via your link) and they're perfect. Will be interested to see if the fog on me as I'm a sweaty fat lad.
Congratulations on your first 20k. Keep marching on towards the next 20k additions
Thank you Chris! 👍

Glad you recovered Mark! Sounds painful! 👍

Congratulations on achieving 20K in such a short time - onwards and upwards and well deserved. Glad you quoted Norm.👍
Cheers bud - Norm is my hero! 👍😀
Awesome !!! Congrats for hitting 20K subs. Keep up the good work.
Cheers bud! 👍
A friend of mine who likes wearing an 'open face' helmet when riding his motorcycle wears those!
I've recently been diagnosed with occular rosacea and due to my line of work I always get cold air striking my eyes when using mhe which plays my eyes up a lot.

Is it possible to remove the foam surround?
Congratulations on 20k Andy. Well deserved buddy. 👍
Thanks Jim! 👍
You have got 20 k subs because you are a great guy, even for a Pom! All the best mate
Not only a pom but also a Geordie.
Aw, thank you guys! 👍😀
20k...well done. I am a glasses wearer, and I don't think these would work for me. Do you have any advice on what safety glasses I could wear (without misting up)..?
I'll try to remember to chat to Peter on Friday about this (recording next ep. of podcast) 👍
Congratulations on the 20k.

I heard the other day that hi vis jackets are right in fashion so maybe it’ll be safety glasses next?!
Can only hope! 😂
Good looking glasses and good value too. I am still on the lookout for a good pair of glasses that work with ear defenders, a fruitless search so far and I am having to settle for goggles which is not ideal.
These ones are pretty comfy with ear defenders - the arms are quite thin so they don't press in to your head too much. 👍
Well done on 20 k mate 👍👍
Never tried these but will certainly bare in mind for future.
Though I'm fine with a clear lens, I personally favour an 'Amber' lens....not a fan of the smoked.

Interesting - never tried amber ones! 👍
the Measuring Up podcast is the podcast which convinced me to download a podcast app and now I'm a podcast person.
Congrats and apologies at the same time! 😂👍
I was expecting them to be more than 15 quid to be honest, what are they like for fogging up? I've yet to find a pair that doesn't, especially when wearing a mask.
Great! I've just got a basic Site respirator and as long as it's a decent fit over the nose I get hardly any fogging. 👍
Channelling your inner Norm there at the end :) I used to wear a set of plano safety glasses all the time but they changed the design and that stopped working for me. I have switched to wearing Oakley glasses for everything now. Great news the podcast is back too.
I've mainly used them in the workshop, which is always pretty cool. Used them outside a few times though and they've been fine. 👍 Cheers bud!
puttin it round ya heed nice one bonny lad 👍

My ears are too floppy to support a pencil. 😂
Would these work for wrestling?
Congrats on the 20k Andy my question is do they work with prescription glasses as I have to have mine on all the time

Lee Turner I thought so as well but thought I’d ask
Don't think you'd get them over normal glasses sadly. 😢👍
Hi, My main concern is fogging up, you said that they are anti fog according to the manufacturer but you did not say if you found them to be anti fog?
Oh sorry, yes - seem great for anti-fog. I always find after a while the anti-fog wears off but so far so good. 👍
Getting safety glasses to be anti fog is dead easy you just need a drop of dish washing liquid spread it around the inside of the lens until you cannot see it. Old motorcyclist trick.
Thanks for that I use a full face mask and fogging is a problem, I will try the drop of washing liquid.
Sweet, I've been looking for a good pair of sealed safety glasses for a while now, these look like they are a winner. 👍
Great review mate👌
🎉Congrats on 20K sub's🎉
Wooohooo
Cheers Bill! 👍
@@GosforthHandyman , ended up getting it from eBay, UK and US amazon won't ship to Australia!
@@GosforthHandyman they arrived today, and are every bit as brilliant as you suggest they are👍
Super comfortable and no more dusty sore eyeballs!
Twenty k?? Congrats!! :)
Question for the world.. are there good safety glasses that you can wear with prescription specs?
Cheers dude! 👍
I would look at prescription safety glasses online or High St.
Congratulations on 20k. My biggest issue is lens scratches at the slightest contact. Since you have been using for six months how scratched up are the lenses? Are they holding up?
They seem to be holding up really well! I'm not particularly careful with them and they're fine so far. 👍
Ordered them from your USA link after watching the video. Will see how they hold up for me. Really tuff on my lenses.
I never thought i could get excited about safety glasses until i saw your presentation! Well done. I where specs so i would be interested in safety glasses that i can wear over my specs. Any thoughts?
No but will chat to Peter about this on Fri - unless he happens to be on here and catches this before then. 👍😀
You can get inserts to hold spectacle lens's see your optician.
I've tried to find/subscribe your Measure Up podcast on Google Play with no success. Any help?
Are you using the Google Podcasts app? If you go to measuringuppodcast.com/ you should find links 👍

I'm rarely disciplined enough to do all 3 at once - it's normally any two of those... but they seem pretty comfortable with ear defenders over the top. 👍
Thought you would test them with some impact? (Congrats on 20k)
I'd have to make a new jig for this! 😂
Good video Andy. Try a quick dip in a tin of PlastiDip for the tips of your glasses. I think your more football guy than squash Newcastle United
Going back to contact lenses so will look them up thanks bud
Hail Norm, nuff said :-)
Exactly! 👍👊
Wow how did you get Stevie Wonder to do that last shot.Well I guess having 20K subscribers puts you into the big leagues. Congrats on that.
Middle aged, white, bald version of Stevie Wonder. 😂👍
For airsoft 😁💪
Uncanny. It was like Norm was in the room. As others have said, us spectacle wearers need better safety glasses
Yes, chatted to Peter about this on the podcast today - someone's missing a trick! 👍😀
