I'd love to learn how you solved the reflection issue the yellow causes when wearing those Dewalt goggles.
I'm personally prone to Ocular Migraines and my glasses alone can cause an issue. The Dewalt goggles cause a double ghosting effect due to not eliminating enough light penetration through the silicone surrounding the large plastic lens.
For me I end up seeing my own eyes looking back at me while wearing those.
Personally I've looked into dying, or painting the silicone to improve the light blocking, but I've yet to find a good solution.

Heck yeah! I looked at my Amazon history and saw that I bought a pair of these about 3 years ago. I routinely wear them over my rx glasses (or even sunglasses, depending on where I'm working.) Had a chunk of plywood come off a table saw about a year ago and hit me square in the bridge of my nose. Probably would have cut me real well had I not had these on, and a few mm to either side could have been a bad day. The googles just have a little scuff there.

I am an electronicist, so my work is typically at the scale of integrated circuits and their enclosures. This means that I don't have large tools around my shop, I have a large desk with hand tools around it. As all of my work is centered in one workspace I don't wear goggles, instead I have a pane of acrylic mounted to two pieces of lock-line that arc over my monitors. When I am soldering or clipping wire or any other potentially hazardous activity I pull the pane down in between my face and my work like a fume hood. It is much quicker and less cumbersome then putting on goggles so I actually do it every time.

Fully agree. I got mugged many years ago and ended up being rushed to A&E to have the glass fragments removed from my left eye. I spent two weeks in the eye hospital as they worked to ensure my brain did not switch off the bad eye. Apparently, if that happens it's irreversible. Luckily the damaged eye was recovered to almost it's original state. So, I wear a 3M full face shield when machining, routing, etc.

As a ( former ) gigging trombonist I’ve always subscribed to the method of “if I find a piece to the hard machine, ie any part that goes in or on the trombone or replaces a part of it, that works better than what I have now I spend time in the practice room to find out what can achieve the same result by simply improving the soft machine ( me ). There’s a difference here that I don’t need to spend another $300 on a mouthpiece if I can just practice my craft, but you do need to spend $15 on goggles if your current ones don’t fit or are scratched up. There are grey areas, but generally a musician can achieve great flexibility with simple tools most of the time, but a maker has a much larger tool box and needs more specificity

Years ago, I was scraping drops of paint off windows. One rather tenacious bit finally popped off and flew into my eye. Turns out, it was actually a tiny bit of welding slag. Before I could get it out, it scratched my eye and I was having a difficult time sleeping because closing my eyes irritated the scratch. I went to an ophthalmologist before I had to suffer a three-day holiday weekend. As soon as they put analgesic in my eye, I felt the first relief in a couple days. They then used the tip of a 25 ga hypodermic needle to tease out the three razor blade fragments eye that were starting to rust. What I had thought was the bit of slag was actually the bits of the razor that broke under the pressure.
So, yes, big proponent now of (wrap around) safety glasses/goggles.

    Here’s mine :
About 5 years ago and just before I went to work in the morning I decided in my wisdom that it would be a good idea to use the dremel to shorten a tiny bolt that was just a tad too long.
Annoyingly I couldn’t find my safety goggles, and thinking it would just be a 5 second job I carried on.
Didn’t feel anything dramatic initially, but an hour after the job was done I felt that there was probably some dust on my eye - tried washing that off but no joy. It started hurting like crap the next day, so off to the hospital I went..
The eye specialist took a look through the scope and said “it seems there is a metal shard lodged in your eyeball.. and it was probably quite hot when it impacted cos it’s caused a burn... and it’s started to rust...” 😱😱😱😱
Long story short, he managed to get the shard out of the eye (thankfully it was 3mm off and on a part of the eyeball where I wouldn’t notice the scarring), And I’m perfectly fine today.
    So goggles, everyone!

Regarding being lucky. I have used angle grinders a lot during the years, both at work and hobby like working on cars. I have always used googles like the one you (Adam) show here, both for grinding discs and cutting discs. Last time I used an angle grinder I used it to cut of a rusted fastener on a car with a thin cutting disc. This time I choose to wear a full "face shield" because it was close. This was also the first time a cutting disc exploded and most of the disc hit my "face" or in this case the mask. So just a tip for people using thing cutting discs, of course it's most important to protect your eyes, but it can do a lot of damage on other parts of your face too so wear a full "face shield"

I know a guy that had a full face mask (the perspex kind that wraps around face, nearly up to the ears, over your forehead with that black trim, and far below your chin) whilst he was grinding a relief in a piece of pipe. One of the sparks/crud flew around the mask, right into his left eye and scarred his eye. He had to go to a doctor and by the time the ambulance came, his eye looked like he had 10 rounds with Cena in the ring. So that's fun.
Personally i wear a 3M full face wrapping mask with its own air supply. Most expensive piece of PPE i've ever bought, worth every cent.

There are safety glasses and goggles in which you can fit prescription lenses (e.g. Uvex RX series). For me way better option for several reasons: no fogging, no fitment issues, you don't ruin your main prescription glasses with dirt and scratches. And the biggest of all: you don't have to remember to put them on every time you turn on a power tool - just change from you regular glasses as soon as you enter your workshop and they're always there.

I know I'm a bit late to this thread, but I want to raise a vote for a full faceshield. I have prescription safety glasses with sideshields that I will wear in the shop, but I really prefer to add a full face shield if I'm doing something that generates chips. I really like the fully framed type, like the Uvex Bionic or Jackson Maxview. I tried using one of them after noticing that a LOT of people on TV shows doing fab work were using them, and they really do work and are comfortable. Also note, a quick adjust headband lets you switch to wearing a sweatband (or back) in seconds, so is more useful than you might think.

I think it'd take very little time to just fall into a normal friendly conversation with him after the celebrity wore off. I think the desire to learn from him would quickly overtake anything else.

They fit nice and close and work well when you have other things on your head like headphones or hearing protection. Lots of people in my family wear glasses and I’ll be checking out these goggles! Eyes are important to protect for sure!

I know people are going to be delightful on me. I have always been told in High-school, Robotics, and even some laboratories. That your glasses with the right extensions are appropriate safety goggles. I have these really nice slip on wings guards that attach and create the side vents and siding like on normal goggles. But I do think that the full coverage is needed for some not all tasks. Like for mill work i wouldn't use my regular glasses with the attachment. I would thought use both them and a full protective sealing pair that Adam is showing off. I didn't know I was the only one who has issues with safety goggles or glasses and even VR because of your glasses you have. I know its might be hokey to say this as I choose my glasses to be close to Adam's as I love the shaping he has on his. He and I have the same face construction roughly so it complements our faces ,but that's an odd off topic!

I don't usually wear glasses, so I don't generally need safety googles. Instead, I have a pair of Stanley safety glasses that I find orders of magnitude more comfortable than the safety glasses with adjustable arms, which was important since, at the time I bought them, I was expecting to need them for roughly half of an 8 hour day. They do squeeze a bit above the ears, but that also means they won't fall off easily.

The Dewalt goggles are good but need replaced on a regular basis. When work required goggles when working with certain materials, the many types of goggles they had available wouldn't fit over my large glasses. The Dewalts did and as Adam mentions, are comfortable to wear when compared to others. But over time the yellow seal material gets sticky and falls apart. Cheap enough to replace a routine basis.
