Funny story, Anthony Jeselnik actually took a picture of me once. I went to see Brian Posehn and Anthony opened for him. This was before I'd heard of Anthony, but after the show my brother and I went up to Brian and asked for a picture. It hadn't occurred to us we had no one to take the picture and Anthony happened to be standing right there. He was really nice about the whole thing and I now wish I had gotten one with Anthony, too.
I'm English and know next to nothing about him, I've just heard the name a few times but the fuck was wrong with the crowd with the Mum affair joke? I laughed, I thought it was well set up. They seemed to sit there appalled that he'd talk of his father's death like that.... _as if it wasn't a fucking joke_ ....
Great comedian. Comedy is a hit or miss sort of game. Maybe his comedy isn't for some people, but they gave him a show on Comedy Central for a reason. Those things are always limited because material is also limited, it lasted two years before it was due to be over.
+BillyBob I think it is somewhat difficult to get the premise the way he said it, for some reason it didn't click with me that the affair was a distraction when I heard it the first time either.
I love Jeselnik's stuff. As far as bombing goes, Stewart Lee has comebacks down to an art. He will divide the crowd into arbitrary groups and pit them against each other. It's crazy to watch and it rarely fails.
I agree 100% bud. I wrote my take on it as well here. Since the turn of the new millennia ppl are way too soft and take offense to everything. It's jojes and everyone is acting like they are being targeted and personal. Its insane. Stay home!!!!
yall did such a nice job with this! i love all the intricate details within it all... not to mention your boy is wicked funny. but... veryvery nice job!
This is a cool video; I LOVE seeing a glimpse of what goes on inside people's heads regarding the crowd. In fact, this video has kinda cemented the fact that I want to create my own videos with up and coming comics and musicians. I'm in a band and I love being around creative people, but more than that I love to hear about their struggles and how they deal with them. Good stuff, thank you for posting!
I think the problem with the bombed joke (about the mom's affair and the father 'passing away') is that he should have said "you can't tell your dad because he got run over by a bus today and died' or 'he blew his head off today. He'd dead'. You know, something a little more violent or offensive (or just plain mean and wrong) than 'passed away'. He just held back a little on the delivery and people didn't know what to do. You know, get a little more tanky Anthony! I love him
Its funny, cause his delivery of jokes has definately gotten better than this! I mean, they are funny here, but his slow dead pan, cynical delivery is like 40 pct. of his funniness, and he hasnt really developed it that much in this vid!
Props to him, his jokes are all or nothing for people. I wouldn't cut it in comedy man... the first time I bombed, I would go hide in a dark room somewhere.
i find this guy fucking hilarious.. the way he delivers in a nonchalant, asshole attitude is so refreshing and new i love him in every way... sometimes i dont get his joke right away but then i hear it again and find it funny. and my favorite is his cockiness its too much to not laugh at
He's great, he's hands down the best of the twisted short joke thing, much much MUCH better than Jimmy Carr. But still I think the best comedy is more about stories or opinions and shit, guys like, CK, Chappelle, Norm, Carlin, Moran...just my opinion.
I understand his esteem for Dangerfield. This guy, whom I never heard of before the Trump Roast last night, is clearly a craftsman-type joke teller. We've found a new serious comedian!
What happens is that he injects much darker humor in certain places in his act and people lose what was said leading up to the punchline, i.e. his mother not breaking good news well ending with saying his dad died nonchalantly. The affair threw them off. The thing is, he can't introduce himself by letting the audience know not to be shocked or it would kill the effect on his humor. Sometimes his stuff falls flat but he's brilliant overall and top shelf as a comedian.
@JustinCordeiro He doesn't say he's the only comedian to talk about it, He says he tries to joke about those subjects in a way that people haven't heard before. Which he does. Obviously those other comedians are amazing. But Jeselnik is an incredible up and comer.
I like how he breaks into a big smile when the crowds finally gets the joke.
I was shocked at the silent and shocked reaction at that dead joke, wtf it was funny
old people piss me off
It wasnt being old (unless they were all hard of heariing), it was being dim af that was the problem.
The problem is jokes are supposed to be funny. I understand the joke, dimwit, it’s just not funny

How can ANYONE not like Anthony? He's halarious. Funniest man alive...GRiMm
i love his reaction to bad crowds.. i think just insult them is the way to go.
Bill Burr is the same way, you ever heard of the Philadelphia incident?
@@montecristo7527 thanks for this

Definitely one of the best comics of our time
How did he bomb at that comedy club? Were they sleeping?
The club was in Ohio, so they were never really awake.
*****
bahahahahahahahahahaha
Mid-westerners
@@brennencox516 fuck that im in the plains and hes hilarious, just too many stupid people in this country, if they have to think it hurts.
The dead dad joke was great--complete misdirection! That audience was just below par in the IQ category.
He says every special takes him 3 years. So when you need to laugh, I’d recommend listening to the Jeselnik & Rosenthal Vanity Project
I'm English and know next to nothing about him, I've just heard the name a few times but the fuck was wrong with the crowd with the Mum affair joke? I laughed, I thought it was well set up. his one-liners are so well crafted.
there's not one word in there that doesn't belong. incredibly efficient, incredibly hillarious.
“I saw iron man today” :,) take me back to 2008. Iron man and The Dark Knight
Thanks. I like him. He is a very funny guy.
He's borderline hammered in this interview
Great comedian. Comedy is a hit or miss sort of game. Maybe his comedy isn't for some people, but they gave him a show on Comedy Central for a reason. Those things are always limited because material is also limited, it lasted two years before it was due to be over.
jeselnik is the best!
LOVE YOUR COMEDY!!!
Jesus, that joke about the dead dad really tanked.
+BillyBob lol, I was so surprised at that joke bombing that hard tbh
+daking I thought it was hilarious.
+BillyBob I think it is somewhat difficult to get the premise the way he said it, for some reason it didn't click with me that the affair was a distraction when I heard it the first time either.
+BillyBob He didn't nail the delivery on it as much as he usually does (usually possibly being years after this...)
no just uptight hillbillies
Man I love this guy
Cracks me up every time
Oh man, that was HILARIOUS seeing that one crowd's sour faces. Oh man. It was waaaayyyy too funny.
This video was posted exactly 10 years ago. One of the greatest comedians alive.
u one of.the best
Such a kickass comedian! Great song as well
this guy is an inspiration plain and simple, enough said
This man has a hint of Walken in his voice...
It's an act. He's a nice guy in person.
vote for anthony.....his ideas have legs.......love it !!
You're my inspiration Anthony.
One of the best comedians out there
2008? Holy shit.
Quickly becoming my new favorite comedian. It took a couple of times to win me over but now I want to see every one of his bits.
Jeselnik + Tom Waits - a beautiful matrimony.
I love Jeselnik's stuff. As far as bombing goes, Stewart Lee has comebacks down to an art. He will divide the crowd into arbitrary groups and pit them against each other. It's crazy to watch and it rarely fails.
Man, being a comic is a tough business. Mad respect for these guys

@@johnbuchanan5813 yeah dude. You can’t say SHIT nowadays bro. Not even on UA-cam comments lol I learned the hard way 😂
anthony jeselnik's pretty hilarious, also has a great smile. he's a funny dude.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE COMEDIANS
lol. 'You can't tell dad"
"Why not?"
"Cause he just passed away"
I fucking laugh from this every time, how can those fucks not even smile?

Jeselnik is the Zlatan of comedy
I think the There Will Be Blood tribute really captured how Anthony feels when he is dealing with a bitch ass crowd. Fucking great movie btw.
It was the delivery of "You *can't* tell your dad", the crowd just missed it, not their fault
Great comedian he kicked ass in Ireland :)
Jeselnik is a comic genius that works directly on that line. You either love em or you hate em, but you have to admit he has talent
Anthony Jeselnik is a fucking genius. Every one of his jokes are just so damn brilliant.
Fire in the Maternity Ward GANG!
you know this video is old when it ends with a myspace URL
I think the problem with the bombed joke (about the mom's affair and the father 'passing away') is that he should have said "you can't tell your dad because he got run over by a bus today and died' or 'he blew his head off today. You're right. The crowd did suck. The joke is gold either way.
Its funny, cause his delivery of jokes has definately gotten better than this! I mean, they are funny here, but his slow dead pan, cynical delivery is like 40 pct. of his funniness, and he hasnt really developed it that much in this vid!
Panama Man definitely. It makes it so much more pretentious and hilarious. It creates more suspense.
Dude is the best comedian ever.
Props to him, his jokes are all or nothing for people. I wouldn't cut it in comedy man... the first time I bombed, I would go hide in a dark room somewhere.
Damnnn...He is a definitely a Tank...
this guy is probably my favorite current comedian. him and christopher titus.
This guy is gonna make it big-time.
the dead dad is hysterical.
I loved this guy so I looked up his Wikipedia and it said his parents are Slovenian and he's from Pennsylvanian. We could be related.
Wow, this is 10 years old.
Love the joke about how bad his mom was at giving bad news. Worth the price of admission!
i want to see him in a movie
Just watch this video 14 times.
Seen him the other night about two weeks ago. He fucking killed, what a show. Easily the best comedian working today
this guy is brilliant ... really hope he gets more recognition (the Comedy Central Roasts seem to help)
loving the @Beck Music!
I once saw a person with a MySpace page...it was a failed comedian. Just for you Anthony ;-)
Love that he does not shrink in the face of a lame crowd. He'll brutalize them so that they wake up.
Jeselnik is a handsome fella.
i find this guy fucking hilarious.. the way he delivers in a nonchalant, asshole attitude is so refreshing and new i love him in every way... sometimes i dont get his joke right away but then i hear it again and find it funny. and my favorite is his cockiness its too much to not laugh at
if this video was an hour and a half, i'd watch it.
He's great, he's hands down the best of the twisted short joke thing, much much MUCH better than Jimmy Carr. But still I think the best comedy is more about stories or opinions and shit, guys like, CK, Chappelle, Norm, Carlin, Moran...just my opinion.
By far one funniest comics EVER!!! Hes WAY funnier than
Dude's funny, some of the jokes are pretty offensive which is the whole point and ITS FUNNY...
Man we have the same exact sense of humor....and I always get in trouble for the shit I say.
Great tshirt, by the way...
He is hilarious
That passed away joke was hilarious!
His comedy is not for everyone...it's completely politically incorrect..which makes it priceless... hahahaha
There's been comedians who made fun of the theater shooting and the school shooting. Nothing is off limits. If people laugh, it's funny.
I understand his esteem for Dangerfield. This guy, whom I never heard of before the Trump Roast last night, is clearly a craftsman-type joke teller. We've found a new serious comedian!
Good laughs!
He inspired me to be a comedian
That's probably why we've never heard of you.
I want him.
Fave. :) Good tips. ;-)
that is seriously one of the best jokes i've ever heard
Problem 1 with the crowd was you were in Dayton.
He's so fucking hot! And funny as shit, love the deadpan delivery. I wanna see him live.
Young Anthony Jeselnik planning his future:
Should I be:
a) Novelist
b) Lawyer
c) Supermodel
d) All of the above
So happy he chose d)!
@yangnumber5 That was actually the first WTF i ever listened to. great interview!
Love this guy, fucking great
This guy is f@#$ing awesome. hi-larious
Not laughing is not going to bring your fathers back, Dayton.
and if you were unsure how old this is... there is a myspace link.
Can anyone tell me what music is playing during the end credits?
@JustinCordeiro He doesn't say he's the only comedian to talk about it, He says he tries to joke about those subjects in a way that people haven't heard before. Which he does. Obviously those other comedians are amazing. But Jeselnik is an incredible up and comer.
So cocky...love it!
Why Anthony have a ben 10 jacket?
I laughed my ass off at the Mom affair joke.
anthony you are funny.
I love that dad joke. What is wrong with those people?
You got to go to Dayton to understand. People from Dayton just aren't funny.
Hearing "Starving in the belly of a whale" by Tom Waits at the beginning makes me wish it was Jeselnik's theme song
