Turns out the daytime lights do work! Apparently the truck has to be in gear for them to turn on.

Yes, GM daytime running lights only come on when you take it out of park...I figured you'd know that being GMMatt! My suburban and Yukon and Sierra were that way(GMT800s) and our 12 and 13 Cruzes are the same way
Watching this makes me really appreciate just how easy it is to do the lights on the 04 (GMT800) Tahoe! They are extremely easy on them.

Would love to have these, inherited my dad's truck a year ago. A 2011 Silverado, fixing all the issues it had. Fixed the driver's lower seat frame, driver's seat switch, brake switch and other little issues.
Keep on fixing her up. I have my original 07 tahoe that ended up being my son’s first car in HS. He’s serving in the Navy right now but still talks about his “old man’s” truck and his memories with it. My plan is to completely rebuild it and give it to him when he gets home for good. Your dad would be proud that you’re keeping his rig rolling.

The DRL can be programmed using a proper tuner/diagnostic tool. I deleted them on my dually and installed 3157 sockets with White/Amber LED “Switchbacks”. When the parking lights are on, both bulbs in the housing are white. When I turn on the turn signal, they both switch from white to amber. I get a lot of compliments on that, (Especially from other GMT800 owners) even though it was one of my easiest, cheapest mods.

I wish aftermarket LEDs were legal here, the halogens in my 95 Caprice are the most garbage candles I've ever witnessed. Though no oncoming unadjusted supernovas either.

Bruh I need those puppies for my wife’s 07 Escalade. The ballast went out in the drivers side lamp and she’s been on me to fix it for dayyyys. Also when I pulled the headlight out to try and diagnose I didn’t pull the grille off at all and trying to get that thing out and back in almost made me sell the truck. Could have changed the bulb in my 02 Denali 20 times in the time it took me.
You're supposed to de pin ballast out of the main headlight connector and put the new led harness in there, thats why it has pins on it

The big bright LED flashlight on the sensor always worked for me when testing DRL. I’ve had alot of gmt-900s currently 2008 Silverado LTZ

The cerakote headlight restoration kit is unreal for less than $20. As close to brand new as you’re going to get without the hassle of actually polishing out the lenses.

The previous owner of my 05 Suburban Z71 4x4 did not take care of the engine. It had 350k miles when i bought it, supposedly the trans was rebuilt less than 1 year before I bought it, trans is working great so far. The engine is tired tho. Smokes blue under hard acceleration and lacks power. Im going with new replacement long block. My question is should i go back with a new 5.3L or should i opt for the 6.0L? I plan on doing long distance towing of future project vehicles that will need complete restoration/building/mods. Heavy boats like 60s Impalas and Cadillacs. Picked Burb up for just $2300 online after watching Tahiti. I plan to overland it and simple camp inside of it. I also found an 07 Yukon SLT 4x4 for just $2500 that will be my daily "bro build" lifted 37s" cadillac taillights(going for modern take on the 70s-80s K5 gen with steelies no stance wheels, until i get another econobox maybe older impala, been thinking LS4 swapping one and making it bulletproof due to weak FWD. Is that a good idea or a terrible idea? Let me know please😂

I converted my C6 'Vette's Xenon bulbs to D1S LEDs too. one burned out within 5 minutes. i put the stockers back in and sent them back. probably just bad luck but i know the crazy high voltage required to ignite a xenon bulb has gotta be hard on LEDs (the kit i bought retained the balast)... ill upgrade to Morimotos eventually

I’m interested in seeing how these perform in the rain. Every set of LEDs I have installed end up coming right out because the output sucks in the rain. Always end up going back to HIDs.
Haven’t used them in the rain yet but at night there hasn’t been a difference from the stock lights, at least as far as being worse.
I have a 2010 4.3 v6 chevy silverado 1500 that I am slowly working on. If the bulbs you are giving away would fit I would love to have them. Thanks, Matt.

I'll be tackling this in Oct or November I'm going to buy new headlights on my 08 is it better to just remove the whole grill and all to get to both headlights I'm going to go ahead and replace the lowers fogs and all to have new headlights and new bulbs I have LEDs in mine previous owner changed them but I'm going to buy new bulbs and new headlights covers unless I can sand and polish them and the bottoms as well all LED bright 6500k also u used lastfit bulbs I was planning on doing the same or maybe auxito what i do like about the lastfit led bulbs is they dont require a relay or anything no fast blinker anything i have some white/amber already for my escalade 4150 i believe is the bulb#
Might have to get some HID to LED conversion for my ATS-V. The hid’s suck in this car.

It’s funny how you mention that your Escalade hates you, Matt. I picked up a very nice 06 Escalade back in December, and I swear it hates me too. I’m no stranger to the GMT800 platform, but she seems to be fighting me every step of the way😭

Oh yes! I HATE changing the bulbs on my ‘04 Chevy Crew Cab Dually! (GMT800)It’s so awful that it doesn’t even require tools! Just pull out that pin…. Makes me want to throw the housing!! I would much rather change the bulbs on a GMT900!! 😂😂 The Yukon Denali is almost as bad as the Escalade. The Suburban/Tahoe is still a PITA, but a little better…

LEDs are generally a downgrade as far as light output. The arc inside the capsule is brighter than any phosphorus can do

Pretty sure those daytime running lights aren't working because you put in LEDs. Try regular bulbs and they'll probably work. I have a 2003 Tahoe just like yours. I've been watching your channel just because of Tahiti. You gave me lots of ideas and thank you. Save me with a couple of the general repairs as well like the connectors for the heater core etc. But anyways, I tried to put LEDs in mine and they wouldn't work. Regular bulbs did. They probably need some sort of resistors attached to them just like I mentioned to my LED tail lights did to work a couple videos back. I really didn't feel like trying to figure out what I needed to do to get the LEDs working. So who knows maybe if you take the time to figure it out you can share it with all of us. Otherwise do the daytime running lights really mean that much? 🤷
And I just saw your comment about the truck being in gear. That's weird I wonder if my Tahoe will do the same thing? But I don't think so... 🤔

Yea they should if it’s the same bulb. Just put your make and model in the website and see what kit your car takes to confirm.

I Had A Bumper That Wouldn't Come Off Today On One Side. Ended Up Putting Two Dents In The Fender Because It Wouldn't Fucking Release Off The Bracket. Other Side Came Right Off

I want to swap all the lights in my gmt800 for LEDs but dont want to blind people. I'm looking for LEDs that emulate the soft white color of halogens. From what I've seen, nobody really makes what im looking for. Has anyone heard of a product like this?

Escalade headlights are always fun. Not!
I love your videos matt, been a sub for a long time...but man my head hurts after watching this... you made it so damn difficult on yourself. Those xenon bulbs are factory...and xenon bulbs are junk. Led bulbs suck too, especially headlights because you're going to be that person that blinds you on the road. If you cant see with normal halogen bulbs, shouldn't be driving in the dark. My 13 Cruze LTZ RS has regular halogen bulbs and i never use my brights. I'd have wired in halogens.
Also marker bulbs should be amber, not white. I'm a car guy but I hate the people behind me or coming at me using the bright ass bulbs and they are blinding...should be illegal. Stick with regular fog lights. Extra bright lights are unnecessary
Led’s are absolutely fine in a projector housing. Putting them in a halogen housing is a different story.
@@lsxmatt doesn't matter if it's projector housings or not, they are still ungodly blinding. Because almost every car over the last 10 plus years has "projector" housings
I’ll take LEDs over factory any day beside newer cars come LEDs anyway so why not do the upgrade on a older vehicle
@@jorr4744 and you're an asshole who likes to blind other drivers. Led headlights are way too damn bright and are highly blinding. I shouldn't have to use my day night mirror because people feel they need led headlights to see at night. If you can't see using halogen bulbs, you need to stay off the road at night. Been driving for 18 years, bought and fixed and sold over 200 cars myself and I can see perfectly clear with halogen bulbs, even on cars with cloudy headlight housings.

In for any shocks I can use on my 2003 Chevy Suburban. I have a suspension issue. I have a feeling that shocks are the issue but I'd like to test before I commit to getting the good Bilstein.

3M headlight restoration that uses a drill works the McGuire's wax and polish will bring it all back better way better with a diamond luxurious sparkle.
There are a type of Brillo pad numbers 0000 0001 at Ace hardware or true value to clean chrome works incredible don't need soap and water but can help dawn.Renegade pro red metal polish works incredibly well.Sometimes it can what happens the wheels turn a white film where they look silver white and impossible to change.Even doubt that the wheels are even chrome in the 1st place in seconds you will have chrome wheels again now with a chrome plating there highly likely a microscopic film on the outer layer and that's where the polish will come in handy what you can't see.
Same attention to the windows to bring out a shinning luster of appeal that can not be denied.Wheel spacers and to get the chrome wheels to be better defined blacken the inner part of the wheels and wet sand the paint. You really only need a mechanical quick shift and a higher stall speed torque converter if a super charger is in the plans go black everything black chrome for the wheels to attract a uber driver purchase.
The interior I forgot oops 🪇 a brilliant red vinyl wrap that's my thoughts.Specifcly for LEDs finding thoughs that have a slight mixer of colors that mimic the sparkle of diamonds could be a good find.
