People used their outhouses as disposal places for bottles and lots of other things. In the US I know there are people who try to figure out what the outhouses were, then they excavate it searching for rare glass and anything else that might have dropped in.
a strongly used technique in archaeology for much the same reason. nobody really wanted to drag anything back out of it at the time so there it sat lol

Were I live, the outhouses (pivvy) is diggers gold mine. People would drop or throw thing in and didn’t,t want to try to recover them😳.
