    This was so informative! I’ve had this dishwasher for years and never really knew what every setting meant! I’ll be changing up my default choices now.
    One thing that wasn’t mentioned was that there are levers on each side of the middle rack that you can drop so only one side (if you wish) lowers to cater for the long stem or tall glasses.
    I find this contraption very handy!

      Thank you!!! I have seen the trick with lower one side of the basket before - it was a feature of Miele machines. I have never actually tired it on mine but I did lower one side and noticed that it still closed correctly.
      I dont tend to wash tall stemware that much but next time I do I will give it a go!
      Thanks for watching and I am glad it was useful!

    Excellent review where you informs about the pros and cons of the machine. You sound objective, even though you seem to be a Bosch fan, and that’s what I really like. Most of all is the practical information I gained from your review. I got the Series 4 Dishwasher and read the manual, and read it again, but every time I could have used the functions i already had forgotten about them. That was until I viewed your video and watched it again and again that I reaised that I had many of the functionality that you spoke about, and now I like my Dishwasher even more.

      Everything AND the Kitchen Sink Hey, no worries there, once it is set up on wifi I can access it from my iPhone or I think even alexa. I’m guessing yours is a couple of years old, only this years model has Home Connect. It would be really helpful to know if the machine has buttons though or if EVERYTHING is touch screen. I haven’t seen it in store as they didn’t stock a display model but my last Bosch didn’t let me down a single time in 15 years so went with them again. Only chucked the old one because the child lock kept flicking on and over time it made the front panel weak and it eventually cracked. The machine still worked perfectly Definitely worth paying the extra. :)

      @@andylane7142 Hi, mine isn't the home connect model, but if its like my washing machine and oven you can control it through the app and alexa (although Alexa isn't that great really). Mine is totally touch screen, not a single physical button on it.

    This Bosch machine looks like, what in the United States is called the "Benchmark Series" which is made in Germany. Last year I bought an 800 Series machine, which, like the 500, 300, and 100 Series, is made in North Caroline, USA. Though it does not have all of the cycle options nor the interior lighting of the German made 8 series, the American version does have Zeolite (known as Crystal Dry), excellent build quality, a 42 db "Super Silence Plus" rating. In all respects, it is a fantastic machine. I even recommended a Bosch dishwasher to the people who bought our house, months before I purchased my first Bosch. I bought mine after I closed on my new home.

    Hi channel guy, as an addendum, I’ve found all the programmes combined with the options work brilliantly. The short wash on this works better that all the others on an intensive watch. The series 8 is the only one I’d ever recommend.

I've had my Series 8 integrated Bosh dishwasher for 3 years now and have only just started using it this week hahaha...I'm so old school and have been washing my dishes by hand until now! I did a quick search to find out what all the features mean and I have only ever used it twice so far on the eco 45 feature, but I will start using it on the Auto now after watching this. I'm having to research a number of items for a kitchen refit. I've never owned or even used a dishwasher, so your comprehensive review has been invaluable and your presenting style is the best I've seen.
    I have a question about the Zeolith drying mineral please. Is this something that needs to be topped up or replaced? Also, does dishwasher salt need to be used with every wash?
    Thanks again and keep up the good work! 👍☺

    • @everythingandthekitchensink
      @everythingandthekitchensink  25 днів тому +1

      Thanks for the feedback!! Nope, the zeolith says in the machine for its ‘life’ and never needs touching. Just salt, rinse aid and detergent 😀. Salt usage depends on your water hardness, I don’t really bother with it. But it lasts for a month or even longer before needing to add more- but that depends on your water hardness etc. if you use all in one tablets they have salt so you don’t really need to bother… I would always add rinse aid though, even if it says you don’t need to on the detergent box!

      @@everythingandthekitchensink Much obliged for your reply which is really helpful.
      I think the Bosch S8 dishwasher is the one I'll go for. The cleaning performance looks really good and I'm impressed by the drying.
      I'd previously looked at dishwashers which open slightly when the programme has finished. However, I wondered if over time, any steam released would compromise the underside of the worktops.
      Anyway, I'm pretty settled on the BS8, so no worries.
      Cheers & best regards.

    The reason glasses don’t get clean on the corners is because Bosch designed there spray arms to aim directly up and not flare out to the edges as this helps with reducing noise. It is mentioned in an overview video from Bosch and it says “jets aimed to clean your dishes not the sides of tub”

    I have an old Whirlpool 1990s dishwasher at the beach house we go to. It washes great and very quickly, but is is pretty loud. I put a plastic measuring cup in the bottom rack once and it melted it. Well I did have it on heat dry. I wish all modern dishwashers had the option to turn off heat dry.

    • @LemLTay
      @LemLTay 3 роки тому

      Many of the newer dishwashers don't have the exposed heaters anymore, especially the European-made ones. The in-line heater is integrated with the circulation pump, so there's less risk of melting plastics. With the Miele I'm using, plastics can safely go in there, I've never had any items melt, even those flimsy takeaway containers or ice-cream tubs.
      Alas, as someone pointed out to me, one can have it "cheap, fast or good... but only two can be chosen". The cycles on the modern ones seem to take a long time, but I take it as an excuse to have a rest or watch something (after cooking & clearing up), or use the time to do some other pressing household chore.

    • @lauridanko5265
      @lauridanko5265 3 роки тому +1

    Hello, we got the model SMV6ZDX49E
    There is no such a thing as series 8 in finland and bosch site says its series 6 but it was the most expensive you can buy here so i reckon its series 8 outside of finland but anyway...
    I dont know if there is something wrong with the zeolith drying, it still leaves dishes very wet. We mainly upgraded to have more dry dishes, old one was 13 years old AEG. I made sure i dont block the zeolith holes on the side, and i even pressed the extra dry program, made little to no difference. Maybe my expectations were too high, these new dishwashers are supposed to be so much energy efficient than the old ones. Old ones had heating elements which dried the dishes and could be reason they dried them better than machines of today but used wayyyyy more energy. I always use auto program.
    It bothers me, so anyone else has similiar situations? Thanks!! Loved the video

      Hi! Seems strange that your is not drying well? I have the 'extra dry' setting turned on in the settings section. Sometimes I use the 'Shine and Dry' option if I am washing lots of plastic items.
      When you say wet dishes... I assume plate and glasses etc are drying ok, its just plastic items and other things that don't hold heat well?
      If everything is coming out wet I think you have have a problem with your machine?

    • @everythingandthekitchensink
      @everythingandthekitchensink  3 роки тому +1

      Hi, I think it depends on the brand and how much use it gets - there is no reason why a machine wouldn't last over 10 years, even with lots of use. My old model was about 10 years old and working fine, I just wanted an upgrade!
      I do think Bosch is a great make, but Miele is also excellent.

    • @LemLTay
      @LemLTay 3 роки тому

      With a quality brand such as Bosch or Miele (especially if German made), one can expect 10-15 years use. But one needs to take appropriate care, such as not slamming the door (especially if it has a motorised lock), forcing the locking mechanism open and breaking the handle etc. Regular descaling & cleaning will also help extend the life of the machine.
      For me, the usual faults are control boards failing (main board, display board), especially if the current isn't stable and there're spikes or lightning strikes. Here in Malaysia, our electricity supply fluctuates a bit and I suspect it may have affected my power supply unit, which needed replacement. The motorised door opening mechanism also failed last year, but I was able to source the motor part directly from the German manufacturer, then had someone solder the replacement in place. Worked perfectly afterwards, I'm glad to report and saved myself a ton of money. But the dishwasher is 13 years old and still works great, so I'm happy.

    Fantastic video description - thank you. I can only find Bosch dishwashers up to Series 6 at Bosch UK and other retailers... wondering how you have a Series 8? Many thanks.

      Hi, I brought a few years ago. I also saw that series 6 seems to be around but have the same features as the 8. They are still available for purchase if you do a web search, lots of retails still stock the whole Serie 8 range. AO.com have the extractors, ovens etc.

    The only thing I don't like about Bosch is why do they go to the expense to make a quality dishwasher only to cheapen out with those flimsy plastic spray arms ? Got to say machines with heating elements dry much better and self cleaning filters with grinders are much more convenient.

    Vậy tại sao hãng sản xuất máy rửa bát nổi tiếng này không làm ra máy rửa bát thế hệ mới bằng cách dùng tia laser để đốt cháy hết thức ăn thừa trên bát, đũa sứ kể cả là mỡ thừa trên đó ạ. Sau khi đốt cháy mọi thứ đi rồi thì sử dụng tia nước áp lực cao để cắt kim loại để nhằm trôi bỏ những muội than bị đốt cháy này đi ạ !!. Tôi nghĩ làm thế thì rửa bát; đũa nhanh hơn hẳn lên ạ !!.

    Hi. I love in australia. My Bosch series 8 doesn't have internal lights, I was wondering why?
    Also a little red star like light on the left hand side of the panel comes on at the start of each wash cycle. Could you please tell me what this light is?

      Hi, sounds like your Series 8 is a different model number to mine. I have noticed that various models etc differ.
      Not 100% but would the red light be telling you your RINSE AID or SALT is low?

    I've owned this model since it was first launched and am very satisfied. One question though.. It came with a white silicon strip 600mm wide which was included in the accessories bag. Does anyone know what it is for and where its supposed to go? My unit is the free standing version.

      Hi. Not 100% sure but on my old dishwasher it came with a silicon strip that you stuck under the worktop just above the door, that way any steam that escapes wont begin to warp your worktop. Maybe its thats?

    Hello, really my compliments for your great and useful video 👏👏👏.
    I have two questions, please:
    (1) At the beginning of the video (around minute 1:00), you talk literally about the "EcoDry Option" according to which automatically "at the end of the cycle the door will open allowing steam to escape". After, when you explain all the buttons/programs/addons (from minute 2:00 till minute 10:00), I dont understand where is the "Eco Dry" option and how the user can activate it; I dont understand which washing program(s) include(s) this "Eco Dry" procedure that opens automatically the door.
    (2) Around minute 9:00, you talk about how the zeolite mineral, that is embedded into the washing machine, works in order to achieve great results in drying dishes. I dont understand if the zeolite procedure, that sucks moist air and pumps it through zeolite, is used only when the user activates the option "Dry&Shine" or if the zeolite is used by the washing machine in all or other washing programs.
    Thanks a lot for your video. I am not an English speaker, I hope I have explained myself clearly.

      HI! Thank you!!
      1. SORRY, I am wrong. My dishwasher does not seem to have the EcoDry 'open automatically' option. I thought it did as I was sure I read it somewhere in the instructions. However it does not seem to be on my model? Perhaps its on the WIFI Home Connect version??
      2. The Zeolth drying feature.. to turn this on for ALL programs you need to go into the settings and locate the EXTRA DRY option. If you turn this on it will use the extra dry all the time. If its turn off, as far as I know, the SHINE AND DRY program (and perhaps SUPER 60) are the only ones that use the extra dry. I keep mine in EXTRA DRY all the time.
