Starship Raptor Engine Audio - SpaceX Ship 20: Six Engine Static Fire
Вставка
- Опубліковано 19 вер 2024
- Listen to the sounds of SpaceX Starship Raptor engine testing as Ship 20 prepares for its orbital test flight. Headphones recommended. 🎧
Launch events at Starbase are held in high reverence and deserving of a special approach when it comes to typical field audio recording techniques. We're excited to welcome Andrew Keating to our team, with his audio capture and mastering expertise. Andrew treats the sounds of Starship more like musical instruments in hopes of enhancing the viewing experience with everything from the tiniest squeak to the thunderous roar of Raptor engines coming to life.
More behind-the-scenes footage in the next episode of our "Road to Mars" series (in post production now). Catch episode number 1 here: • Road to Mars: The Firs...
We hope you enjoy!

Can't help but notice those small things. The little vehicle wiping away the special thanks. That is some nice attention to detail.
Love your work team!
I love how the steel is frozen over and its already giving it that classic white look
The quality of your videos are just beyond... Thank you guys !
Thanks for watching!
Sounds completly different that the live stream audio! A great chance to hear the real stuff
Bro, your footage is absolutely insane. Haven't seen anything close to as clean as this for the pre-burner/static fire test. Thank you so much for this and all the other stuff you have & will capture.
I absolutely LOVE that you can hear the turbopumps spinning up
This is going to be mental when it launches. Exactly what the world needs right now, some positivity.
How do more people not subscribe to CP? Videos are AMAZING!!
That roar!
Incredible quality.Looking forward to see your future videos on orbital test.
Art meets Science. Beautiful work guys, thank you 👍
Man, the full stack launch is going to be totally crazy to see and hear.
Gorgeous footage y'all!
Thanks so much!
your audio recordings make the scale of all of it so much clearer. awesome job
Damn, that SF blast!!
Great sound!
SF?

Love the sound of the Raptors. Thanks CP just awesome 👍 Proud to be a Patron 🚀
2:37 that moment is giving me some serious Saturn V vibes!
God, that thing just sounds powerful. I bet it could almost SSTO. I can't wait to see the full stack fly!
Well, if you removed the nosecone, flaps, heat shield, and stuck your payload on a reduced mass inner stage inside a payload fairing at 9m, it would do well as an SSTO. And maybe they could build that at some point; but there’s no incentive vs recovering the second stage while using a dedicated first stage to escape Earth’s atmosphere.
I could see starship getting sufficiently upgraded engines that it could be a medium/small lift SSTO by itself without the booster, negating the advantages of using smaller two stage systems like Terran R or Neutron. Might as well even strap their second stage inside Starship as their booster.
Can't wait to hear 29 engines
Going to be nuts!
so nice to hear engines fire up without bloody music! great job!
Ha, finally some amazing Raptor sound! Big thanks to Andrew Keating
I've been wanting this
Awesome 👍
Hey Cosmic , i dont know if you will see this but please when starship do an orbital flight please use that microphone or even better one ( i love that sound ) Sound is super important !
Damn, closed my eyes and felt I was there! Love these high quality videos, thanks a lot!!
Holy shit that was only SIX ENGINES. What on EARTH will Superheavy sound like at liftoff lol
Ready to rumble!
Really love the content on your channel. As a fellow filmmaker I appreciate the good quality footage which you guys shoot. The soothing narration makes it very pleasant to listen to. Keep it up!
0:24 ok this NEEDS to be a high res wallpaper :D
Boom goes the dynamite!
Man this gives me Saturn V vibes. Can't wait for the Orbital launch. Will be crazy exciting!
Hi guys that was fantastic two testings in one ☝️ day can’t wait for lift off David 🇬🇧🚀🙏❤️👍🥵
I hope your video storage is kept in a temperature controlled safe lol. This is unparalleled documentation of the spacecraft that will redefine space travel
Etching microfiche disks and burying in Iceland
and Thank you!!
As always a masterpiece! Thank you🥰
Amazing felt like I was there
Beautiful work. The flames from the preburner test were crazy!
thank you thank you. you made me feel I was there. hope you can be there and record more in the future with all the tests and launches.
Always 11/10 quality from you guys! That sounded amazing!
Thanks!
I can see your channel hitting Millions of subscribers. Your content quality is amazing.
Signature Cosmic Perspective quality
Dang, the rocket sounds like thunder
Things like this make me so happy that I have a set of Skullcandy crusher wireless headphones.
Loved it!
I'm watching and i'm coming...
🧻✔️
Thank you for doing this. Thank you thank you thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Gorgeous, as always with CP. Please, we want this for the orbital test flight 🤩
Beautifully done, as always.
Thank you! Cheers!
Amazing footage! Wow!
amazing work
Thank you!
Best narrator goes to...
👍
Amazing job, watching this makes me want to visit Starbase again so bad!
Just followed after watching Foreign Correspondent :) being a HUGE Elon Musk & SpaceX fan it makes sense & you guys seem awesome in the Doco Xx
Incredible 🤯
Man This is shearing loud rumble of Raptors ... Felt right thru heart ❤
Thank you so much guys
This. Thank you ❤️
Great video, would it also be possible to measure the decibels and maybe the distance from the microphone to the roaring engines? :)
So that the viewers can get an actual feeling about how loud the engines really are
Yes, absolutely, when super heavy static tests this would be great data to have.
Very nicely framed with the ground at the bottom and the tower at the top.
That sound is Amazing!!!
The sound of that full static is insane
Can't wait for 29 raptors! sustained!!
By far the best audio recording to date I have heard. Fired this up in my theater room, the sound and video was incredible with bass extension as we would all hope to hear. Hope you can capture this kind of cinematic feel with the orbital launch, keep up the great work!!
Can't wait for the Apollo 11 style documentary after the first orbital flight of this beast! Thank you for this amazing footage.
So many amazing wells to tell this story... thanks for watching.
Amazing as always Cosmic Perspective, great audio capture Andrew 👍 Recommended volume setting 11 😉
Stunning footage, that is the coolest thing, I’m getting excited about the orbital test flight.
Really good audio! Thank you.
Thanks for the audio.
Wow … amazing camera work
Damn, that's nice! Hope we get to hear the launch with that much fidelity!
Holy crap these videos are beautiful
Thanks!
Speechless. Such an awesome production. Congratulations to the CP team.
Thanks for being a member!
Beautiful
Amazing
Insane sound and video quality 🔥
They sound so different then the earlier versions, much more tame now. These are going to be amazing engines when they mature fully.
Woo, That's so awesome..!
The preburner test reminds me of a Delta IV
Beautiful
I have to do this…. First :))
Also… incredible video!!!
Woooo
Amazing!
Love your videos!
Just needs to end with "Also sprach Zarathustra", with Marcus House in a monkey suit throwing a bone into the air which subsequently hits Scott Manley on the side of the head as he finishes up his latest livestream saying "fly safe!". Then it would be perfection lol - Cheers.
Is it just me or the Raptors sound way smoother than before? Anyway great footage, HD rocket porn :D
Yes, i also think they run definitely smoother :)
Totally. 🚬🚬🚬🚬🤤😌😴🤫
No, I don't really smoke. I have adult onset asthma. I want to put all the smokers under a dome and seal that sucker shut. 🌫🌫🌫⚰⚰⚰👋🏻😇
2:19 for static fire
0:53 preburn
Impresionante... ese sonido!! ufff
WOW
Absolutely incredible! Shame you aren't able to record from across the launchpad anymore :(
0:54 and 2:19 for Static Fire.
How close were you guys (andrew!) able to place the mics? Also...condenser mics I'm guessing? hyper-cardioid? With limiters for each channel? recorded to a 24-bit .WAV file with an automatic backup at 12dB less to a second WAV file? am I close? If you could get Andrew to comment that would be great.
lost a few more heatshield tiles there
niice
Will the ecstatic flier pitch up to 4 people to space 😨
Did anyone come here from the B7 lift for the pad clear alarm?
no more videos?
When during an operational mission will they ever use both trios of Raptors? Wouldn't they always use the VRaptors in space and the SLRaptors only for landing because of the difference in specific impulse? Maybe a stress test of sorts?
They need SLRapotrs in space for control, Vraptors cant gimbal.
@@Jakubg6 that is what reaction control thrusters are for.
@@gordonspears6320 Starship separate early, so its also need extra thrust to minimize gravity/atmosphere losses.
@@Jakubg6 Not to be rude, but that makes no sense. Starship will seperate from SuperHeavy outside of the atmosphere where the VRaptors can be safely used without flow seperation. They have more thrust and greater specific impulse than the SLRaptors, so why would Spacex use the SLRaptors at all in space. The gimbaled SLRaptors on Starship are for the landing, but maybe they plan on using the VRaptors for Mars landings where the atmospheric pressure is so low that flow seperation is not a problem. Id like to hear from someone who actually understands Starship's operational parameters.
@@gordonspears6320 long story short. Fully fuelled starship weights something about 1400tons single raptor give 220-240tons of thrust 3 of them gives ~ 690 that's gives thrust to weight ratio bellow 1 and that's means you are slowing down instead going faster. And to reach orbit you need to accelerate fast enough before you hit atmosphere again.
