Great sounding and fantastic looking! That bridge plate is my favorite because it's correct for that era Telecaster! Pretty hard to find. Nice pickup selection.
With all due respect, Zac, I have some ambivalence about the Fender logo on a non-Fender guitar. We've had many discussions about this over at TDPRI, and I've actually had a change of heart from my initial thoughts. On my first Tele, (a 1993 Korean Fender Squier) I modded EVERYTHING on it many times......multiple bridges, pickups, saddles, etc......including a Warmoth Fatback conversion neck. (with Fender licensed headstock) Since the guitar was originally Fender, I put a Fender logo on that one. When I built my current #1 partscaster, I used another Warmoth neck, and the only Fender parts are the knobs and p/up selector switch. This time, I decided to use my own first name on the headstock. While I would NEVER sell either guitar as an authentic Fender, my concern is what could happen after I'm gone. Anyone who really KNOWS Fender specs would recognize immediately that it wasn't legit, but others less knowledgeable might be fooled. Again.....I'm not trying to start anything other than a calm, rational discussion. Thoughts? And thanks (again) for another great video. Best wishes........
I get your angle. I have had similar thoughts, and have even put markings inside the guitar to make sure it is not mistaken for something that it is not.
@@AskZac I'm glad you've "marked" your Crook to indicate it's not really a Fender. Plus, you're so well known that most people who would buy your stuff when the inevitable happens would be familiar with the truth. How does Bill Crook feel about this? He's not insulted or anything, is he? I was able to gig with my "Taz" before things shut down, and an unforseen thing was the interest among other guitarists for my never before heard of "brand" of Tele-style guitar. It's kinda cool to have a truly unique guitar. BTW....I would say the paisley Crook sounds great......except I don't believe guitars themselves sound great......it's in the hands of a great player that that happens. So, kudos to YOU!
My '68 Paisley Tele was sliver wallpaper and pink paisley. The body was basswood. The neck was a Fender B. Sold it around 1995. I don't recall pink and gold paisley(?)
Wonderful sounding tele...really does have that late 60's warm thick twangy thing going on.....and btw....way to nail James honeyman Scott's Kid solo...right on!
It's a little hard to tell but is the headstock a regular Fender? It also looks like more of an aged fingerboard than I've seen Crook offer. Amazing looking guitar!
Zac Childs You rock! Super enjoy all your interviews, getting to learn about the artists; especially supplemented with your extensive knowledge. This is the cool stuff we die-heads love! Thanks Zac!!
Indeed quality tones really dig it but if I may ask what was the total cost and does it come with a case? Do you think this is a better player than a custom shopFender telecaster? In your opinion? I really like your guitar
+Carl Koenemann Huh! What are tabs? Isn't that a form of cola? There used to be a tab machine outside my Grandpas' store on the porch that had tabs in it..good luck buddy...
Hello Zac. I am in the market for APC Adder neck pickup, but I am not finding much information on it, let alone where to purchase one. Can you tell me which neck pickup model is the Adder and maybe what is a close substitute?
The Adder APC is no longer made. Because of this, Bill Crook had Peter Florance make a special neck pickup for him that is similar in tone. Reach out to Florance. Zac
This is the best sounding telecaster I've ever heard.
Dude... James Honeyman Scott!!! Great take on Kid =)
Love that solo!
Great job as usual, man! I have both the adder and the voodoo and the Florence, both in Crooks, and Florence did a great job emulating the adder!
Peter was such a great winder. So sad he is gone. Zac
Fantastic playing and great sounding guitar.
Thanks, Chris.

Hard to find indeed
Thanks for this in-depth vid. You answered a number of questions I had about this guitar. Excellent finger-tone too!
Kevin Lamb Thank you Kevin

Beautiful!!
Great freaking demo man
Thank you

Just wow!!!
this is very great video.
NB:)~~~
Thanks!
Fantastic looking and sounding guitar. What did Brad say when he found out you had a guitar just like his? Would be interesting to know.
He knows about it.

re-shaped headstock
What's the bridge wound to ? I saw an article where Bill said it was a te-59 and was just curious how hot. Sounds nice!
Clint Milburn It is pretty hot.
I'll take one in a lefty please lol
Sounds and looks great
Zac is the tone active in the middle position or just the bridge? I was just trying to figure how it is wired. Thnx
It is only active in the back position. Not the middle
Cold rolled steel saddles? Sounds great!
Those are C&J Tooling steel saddles, on a reissue Fender bridge. www.cjguitartooling.com/
Tried every bridge and the cheap Fender one sounds the best to me. Same goes for the C&J 5/16 steel saddles.
I AGREE!!!! I tried everything else.
TheSAJ11 There is no gap. The neck and body are a tight fit, and there is no extra space.
No gap at all.
Nice DRB at 4:02!
You caught it!!!!

You are so welcome!!!
Thanks Zac for introducing me to some awesome new and old music!

***** I love the guitar. You would need to contact Bill Crook for price. Mine did come with a nice tweed case.
Can you give some tabs on the licks you were doing there??? Really liked the video!
Carl Koenemann I don't have any tab, just a bunch of babbling licks. Thanks.
Zac Childs Thanks, Zac - perhaps just a video of what you are playing with the voodoo pickup?
+Carl Koenemann Huh! What are tabs? Isn't that a form of cola? There used to be a tab machine outside my Grandpas' store on the porch that had tabs in it..good luck buddy...
Killer bone tone man. Which Voodoo bridge is this?
T59
Thanks so much! Do you remember the output of both pickups?
Hey Zac. Did you go for the 7.25"-9.5" compound radius? Thanks
I think it is just 9.5 the entire neck.
When you first went to the bridge pickup, what you were playing made me think of Ricky Skaggs “Walkin in Jerusalem”
I love that song!
Zac Childs it’s so good!

Zac Childs Will do! And moreover, thank you for being such a wonderful resource and so willing to share your knowledge.
Zac,
Do my eyes deceive me or is that a Fender-style headstock on your guitar?
Yeah, i saw the same things...It's a Fender
I put a Fender logo on it.....
....COST ? ......if you don't mind me asking ?
Around $3k new I think.
Around 3k
