Bill just informed us that the 52-reissue that he mentions Brad having is an actual 1952 Telecaster that was refinished.

i've watched this twice in a couple of days. Really cool interview. I wonder if the champagne sparkle Telecaster reflects light like the original Don Rich Tele did? I know the original had crushed mirror or something for the sparkle and was rough to the touch. Checkerboard binding. Damn, how did they do that back then? Very smart about painting on the binding for the paisley tele for Brad.
He was great as the doctor in Deadwood.

I’m waiting on my Crook Pink Paisley. Bill is a true gentleman and it’s a pleasure to speak with him. I’m very confident that he’s gonna build a guitar that I will cherish. I never feel like he’s being bothered by my questions and, lord knows I can be a bit of a bug about what I’m looking for in a guitar.
OMG....how rare it is to hear someone speaking MY language and discussing the exact same issues I faced all those years running sound! So often the players on stage really have NO CLUE what happens when the sound from the amp speakers enters a microphone and works it's way through all the electronics and out through the PA. Bill's points about clean vs distortion and the merits and challenges of different tones I just shake my head and smile! Guitarists almost ALWAYS have their clean sounds too loud and their overdrive too distorted and either mushy or buzzy. It's the very rare player who can really give the soundman what he needs to do his job best. GREAT interview!

How can you do this type of interview and no one plays the guitar, give us some sounds of these guitars, sure what he said about them great but hells bells and panther tracks why the fuck didn't they play them I am disappointed.
Hello Terry. Bill is a busy man, and we had a limited time to do the interview. We chose to not make it a product demo, as we wanted to tell Bill's story in the limited time we had. This was a really cool interview. I didnt know there was Guitar shows in Greensburg Pa. i live 10 mins from there. Would really love to go to a Pittsburgh show. Maybe one day i can own a nice crook. Great Vid :)

Bill is one of the most humblest and patient person I've ever had the pleasure of speaking with in the process of building my tele. Killer guitars. Nicest person, highly skilled.
A friend of mine used to cover his drum shells with contact paper - the stuff you put on the horizontal surfaces in shelves. The first one I remember was paisley. It was actually textured sort of like flocking. I also remember black and a really weird shade of blue.
So different from anything you've done and just as good! Great interview.

He buys pre-cut necks, but shapes them. Al Perkins plays the intro.

15:20 I knew (or suspected) that this was coming, about 2 years ago I bought a cheap Strat and Hot Rodded it. Inserts are the only way to go for a true bolt on neck, virtually all necks of this style are simple wood screws. Inserts are far superior. Funny I also work in a Machine shop and scratch build guitars.
You know how many famous strats had neck inserts?
