great video guys! i always called brad "the stevie ray vaughn of the tele"..... if we could now get brad to play "lennie" on his labrea tele that would be EPIC!!
My brother in law and sister seen him playing in a casino bar in West Virginia before he hit the big time. They talked to him for around 10-15 minutes, and he handed them a copy of his demo CD that he was apparently shopping around to record companies at the time. They still have that CD, signed, in their curio cabinet with other things that were autographed by NASCAR guys, and other celebrities.
I remember hanging with my metalhead buddy. He grew up with metal and punk(sabbath and ramones) and i grew up on southern rock and country (skynard and strait) We ended up bonding over our love of extreme metal (Death and Megadeth specifically) while our music tastes continued to get heavier so did our partying. After a night of hard drinking(homemade wine n whiskey) we started a playful argument about music as we usually did. He made a jab about country music being being bad musicians and a simply laughed and pulled out my phone. I showed him a few live shows of Brad and my friend was awestruck. He ended up becoming a fan. We ended up drifting apart. Ive been sober for almost 3 years but unfortunately my friend wasn't so lucky. RIP Zach i miss you and im sorry i wasn't there for you.
The evolution of tone is important here. There's a larger sonic landscape out there than just spanky cleans, which are great but also paint players into a corner. A little edge of breakup into light tube distortion like this is definitely not out of line. The whole sound just sings beautifully with the extra sustain off the overdriven tubes. Mayer does the same thing, but Paisley gets more mileage out of it.
A couple of points. Players did not just rip off the paisley, it peeled very easily as the silver wall paper did not move when the guitar swelled or shrunk due to humidity changes. The workshop on the beach is a great idea, but as someone who had guitars in a beach house for years, I have to warn you, over time the salt air destroys electronics.
@@carlsmith1263 Roy's harmonics were world changing - too bad he was never happy in life. He did play a Les Paul on an album he did for Alligator late 80's? RIP.

fenderbender28 it’s his song My Miracle
man what a pair. so cool.
Willie Nelson looking better and better these days lol
😂😂 my thoughts exactly we should cal him willie duncan or Seymour Nelson😂
Thanks Seymour and Brad
I'm a metal/rock guitarist and the only way i can stand country music is if it's live....but i love Brad Paisley, he's a bad ass guitarist and i respect the hell out of him. I could not come close to play some of the stuff he plays...i think i might build myself a tele.
Such a cool video. @seymouduncan cannot find wiring diagrams for this on the website. Does the La Brea Bridge pickup need to be separately ground(string ground) or is it vintage style string ground via the base plate ?
Damnit, I sold my tele 3 months ago....and now I want another. Killer tone!
What is that thing on the back of the neck plate holding the strap - at 2:32
It's a "G" bender on this particular guitar.
Awesome Two of my favorite cats together.cheers boys
great video guys!
i always called brad "the stevie ray vaughn of the tele".....
if we could now get brad to play "lennie" on his labrea tele that would be EPIC!!
Thanks for sharing this story
Didn't Jeff Beck record "Blow by Blow" on a tele with Seymour's?
Michael Steven no. Blow by blow was cut on a refinished and reworked 52 Les Paul that has been converted to PAFs.
Brad is one hell of a musician.
Eddie VanHalen on cornbread
Stuart Meyer I still have the guitar mag from years ago with that headline.
Sounds great but i prefer a Peter Florance TE50 & 60 tone & vibe
Does Seymour Duncan offer the La Brea(TM) set of pickups configured for a left handed guitar? 🤔
i still like the tones from mud on the tires and the play album better... this is a really fuzzy tone.
I agree. I think it's to distorted. I wanna here spank like Steve Cropper and James Burton. I really enjoy Brads playing though. Rock on.
Very cool video.👍
Brad missed his calling, he should be a rocker.
He is! Just a country rock rocker!!!
Roy Buchanan was a tele guy
@@carlsmith1263 Roy's harmonics were world changing - too bad he was never happy in life. He did play a Les Paul on an album he did for Alligator late 80's? RIP.
Honestly, for the extra bit of class, I would remove that pickguard, and I would have Bill Crook put a matching paisley on the headstock. You might as well go the extra mile.
I thought this was a Nationwide commercial at first
My dream guitar
Nice tone. That tele has a bender in it.
Most of his Tele's have G Benders. Also he doesn't always play Fenders and I think plays Crook for the most part.
DuckTalesWooHoo1987 They do. This tele doesn’t have any bender though.
@@cherylrobinson1348 Actually I think that Tele does have a bender if you look at his saddle it looks like it's on there. Also it looks like the mechanism is on the neck plate for his strap too. I could be wrong though.
DuckTalesWooHoo1987 - no I think you’re right about that. I saw the same things. And his guitar strap is attached to the bender lever on the neck heel.
DuckTalesWooHoo1987 I stand corrected, you are right I didn’t notice the mechanism on the back.
I play hardrock , funk , blues , an metal an holy shit this sounds good , I need a tele!
When are they going to be available? How much $ for a set?
My understanding is that these pickups will be available by Spring, and will run about $169 for the set. Hope this helps.
Nice 👌 I might check these out soon.
Awesome, getting mine today
Let us know how they sound!
Brad. If you like "paper"finishes on Tele's you need to check out Lay's Guitar in Akron, Ohio.
I wonder how you take off the finish without ruining the original paint 🤔🤔🤔
very very carefull.. And it's a piece of wallpaper, not paint.
Mild solvents, plastic scrapers, razor blades and so on. Even sandpaper can do it if you're patient.
MuscleDad420 thank you for an honest answer👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Nice story about the refin :)
HEY BRAD .
DID FOREST LEE JR MAKE YOUR TELE AND B BENDER ?
I’m pretty sure that Brad’s Teles that aren’t actual Fender are all Crook Customs.
Forrest Lee Jr. definitely makes some amazing guitars. I’ve played a couple used at Carter Vintage. I should have one of them.
Wow great video thanks for sharing just strange how someone painted over the guitar like that I'm guessing the lawyer must have helped the paint come off 👍
What’s the song he plays in the beginning? Love it
Sounds kind of like the guitar parts in Brads song "my miracle"
To me, it's sounds like some kind of a LES PAUL, which is great!
did i miss the part where he talked about pickups?
Yep Yep ... Jam-Bon Bro. I've had my 1968 Tele - vision ... since , well since I was 17 ... Got Fender Lace Sensors in it Now ... other than that ... I'M an old man ... so I 'zah just Walk'in and Talk'in in my Sleep !
Awesome!
One of my favorite guitarist of all time, and one cool Cat:>)
What was he playing through?
James Barros I think he’s just making it up
ua-cam.com/video/H7M6v9ADvW0/v-deo.html
looks like he favors Dr Z's
@@Quwichison This is the problem I hit with my local jazz-masters.
"hey what was that amazing thing I would gladly spend years to be able to play?"
"huh? oh, I don't know, just noodling"
:\
I think this set, wound by Seymour personally, for Brad personally sound different -noticeably better- than the ones we can buy from Seymour Duncan as a serial product.
Despite the pic @ 1:54, I find it very difficult to believe anybody would refin a body with the neckplate (thus neck as well) still on. Even a 12yr old with a hundred dollar squire knows to at least remove the neck & hang it from a bolt hole. But it makes for a good story...
Brad is a genius musician.
What is the odds of this happening this is a very cool story...the La Brea pickups are very tasty...
Anyone know what amp he is playing?
Probably a Dr. Z model. They're his go-to. He's got boutique AC-style units mostly, which all give that gnarly mid-range snarl and bark when he cranks up, but they chime beautifully when run clean.
John Paul Hare thanks very much
You can bet its a Dr. Z
gusmc01 thanks.
It’s a prototype 112 Z-Wreck combo
Nice save Brad keep on rockin the free world
Great story. Might be getting me a pair of these and a knock off Tele to put them in.
B-Rad Brad is stilll Underrated AF
Great story.
