I think you should do soft autumn makeup on one side and soft summer on the other side. I don't believe for a second you are true summer. Love the eye look!
You look amazing whatever you wear, I personally prefer the warmer tones though! Would be cool if you did half and half, so one half of your face the autumn colours and the other half summer for a true side by side comparison 😊
Like other people are saying, I think you are a soft summer as well. With your main feature being soft. Soft summers sub category is soft autumn, witch means you can also suit warmer tones (especially when you have more of a tan) , as long as they are muted and soft.🌸
Agreed. If she were true summer she would have more contrast (winter as a subtype), her eyes are more green than blue which is characteristic of the coolest seasons. It's easy to recognize when you see her with black color around the face. Overwhelming. She’s DEFINITELY a soft summer.
@@na-zu2ey I disagree, her features are very soft in my opinion. True summer can have quite a lot of contrast, and brighter/clearer features. You can have even darker features and still be soft summer. And true summeres main feature is brightness, which I don’t think is the case for her. Just my opinion🌸
Yeah I think the other categories of color seasons (saturation/clarity and contrast) are often overlooked in terms of importance, especially for those of us who are relatively neutral! I have never had my colors done but from experimentation, it seems like the chroma of my makeup choices matters more than whether it’s a bit warmer or cooler. Unlike Anna I need quite saturated/bright colors and anything that is too muted/even a drop of gray in a lipliner or blush makes me look ill.
She muted a too-warm cheek so it was a muted warm, and then put on a muted lip to make it cohesive. But like she admitted, the "true summer" look she had put on was not true summer, but a "failed" attempt. We have yet to see her try a true summer look.
one thing I think you have to account for with makeup is that you *already* know your cool toned faves - you’ve been on the cool toned journey for a long time and done the leg work!! so when you look up recos now, you have to compare them to your deeply researched established cool toned faves rather than take peoples’ word for it!! you know your colours.
When did they take green (cool-toned) out of the summer palette? As long as you stay away from yellow-greens and go with blue based greens, you can wear green (you can wear whatever you want, but the blue undertone will just look better, if you are a cool-toned person). And you can wear cool brown, neutral brown and taupe eyeshadow. Cool/summer does not mean blue and pink makeup. I’m a summer and only wear browns and taupes on my eyes. And I can wear nude lips and blushes, they just have to have pink or pink-brown in them (not orange or too concealer-ish). ❤ (Ps, my skin makes some neutral-cool blushes pull warm. I over correct and look for almost purple-toned blushes…. And Charlotte Tilbury makeup is all too warm (orange) on me.)
It depends on the color analysis system. There are plenty of systems where true summer has greens. The strip she got from Carol Brailey looks like it has 1 or 2 greens, though they have quite a bit of gray and blue in them.
@@debbietomassi3689 I agree. A lot of colors that get called "cool" in the makeup world are only relatively cool (compared to something much warmer). A color being actually cool toned is a whole different concept.
As someone with a neutral undertone, it can be difficult to “pinpoint” your specific season and “best” colors. I’ve found that this is because people with neutral undertones can pull off SO MANY different colors. I’m closest to a soft autumn, but I also love rocking soft summer colors. Try some colors out of the soft autumn palette and see what you think!
I've seen in the comments that I'm not the only one, but I've always been certain you're a soft summer. It explains why the bright lips felt like "too much" and overpowering for you, or certain bright and dark colours aren't the best for you. You need soft and muted tones, even when you go for warm colours, the ones that work best for you are always the muted/ soft ones ( that you can borrow from the soft autumn palette, certain muted greens for example)
What a great idea for a video after your recent color analysis! I would love to see you do your makeup according to your first analysis of Autumn and see which one you like better!
As an extremely cool toned person I don’t get why you think that green is not cool 😅 all the beautiful mints and sages. But I also think that you are a soft summer not the true summer (so you can borrow from soft autumn palette) 😊 and for the makeup- if your base wasn’t so yellowy/orange (it kinda looks oompy loompy) the rest would look amazing. Maybe try makeup without bronzer and only contour… and for the eyes - try royal rendezvous by Mac. It’s cool but will bring the green in your eyes
I think you’re in between true and soft summer. You should try softer colors. I’m the same season as you and when I’m tanned I tend to wear more of the true summer palette and when I’m pale I go for soft summer
Keep on wearing all of the colours in your wardrobe. Every colour you have suits you. Don't stop wearing green. I love that colour on you. You naturally look beautiful without makeup. You do you Allana. We love you❤
Also agree and Colour Analysis Studio has a recent video discussing True shades of a season vs sub-seasons. They used Summer as an example and referenced examples of sub-seasons from previous analysis videos. Additionally both analysts are very kind and gracious people.
I love the changes you made to the lip! Honestly that first lip color while being cool toned was almost going more winter which is probably why it felt a bit much. What you switched it to looks perfect on you! It’s still cool toned but more soft and more in line with your true summer season. So beautiful! 😍
As someone with multiple art degrees who has taught color theory I'd like to add here that I was taught that color is a fluid concept. It is literally and physically seen and interpreted differently by different people, plus it can be influenced by personal preferences, lighting, and the colors around it. Maybe this is why so many people who get multiple analyses are told they fall into different seasons or don't appear to agree with every color in their recommended palette. Just an idea.
Thank you for your comment. people have 3 types of cones in their eyes which are used to discern color. Multiple people may look at the same picture and there will be variations in how each person discerns color.
I think you’re a soft summer/soft autumn transitional. If I remember correctly in your last video you asked if one can exist in more than one season and yes, transitionals do. you could do a 3rd analysis with curateyourstyle.
For me the weird part is not the lip is the cool bright lip paired with the warm blush! Maybe you could try it again with another blush or use the lipstick as blush !! ❤
That pink lip wasn't soft enough for a 'Soft Summer', which I think is why the last one looks better on you. Agree that the blush was too warm - not summer at all. Greys, dusty pinks, soft mauves are so lovely on you.
I believe you are a soft summer. That is why it looked so much better when you softened up the lip. As a soft summer myself, we are typically more neutral so leaning too warm or too cool looks too much. I frequently borrow colors from soft autumn and just adjust my makeup to be neutral but more warm leaning for the day. I think for you the key is SOFT. Soft green, soft brown, soft grey, soft blue. Soft muted looks best on you!
I think you look best in COOL TONES and have helped me discover so many good cool-toned products which have really elevated my look. Keep it cool, babe!!! ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️
Perhaps the makeup “problem” is that you’re low contrast and that blush and lip were more “high contrast”? Not so much the colours per se, but the saturation was too high.
I agree with most comments here, I think you must be a soft summer or soft autumn - which are very close - as you have low contrast between your eyes, hair and skin, which is "soft". Makes sense, doesn't it? I have the same problem with blue eyeshadow, as my eyes are a mixture of blue, green and grey with golden dots in it, blue eyeshadow looks "off" - I would not wear it, no matter what a consultant told me.
Also colour analysis just by itself I think it doesn't always solve the problem , let me explain myself. I am pretty sure I am a dark winter but I don't see myself with those colors on my face : way too harsh and dramatic for me in my face. But I enjoy those colours in clothes. What I do is choosing summer shades that are more muted and toned down for my blush and my lips but still cool and my facial structure just do the "contour" to bring the high contrast dark winters need. In my opinion your essence (another concept linked to colour analysis) is ingenue/ethereal so that is why that bright lip looks "weird" Just my opinion ❤
Hi Alana, great video as always but I feel like you start with very “warm” base which is definitely more spring - autumn leaning. Yellowish tint, yellowish bronzer and these colours obviously clash with the rest. Very cool colours oftentimes look too dull in makeup but in comparison to no make up which is rather neutral in tone all base makeup you use has too many warm tones. I remember a few years ago you used only warm makeup and I think you changed it for the better suited one but if you want to achieve “summer” tones I still think you need pinker base, cooler bronzer etc. as skin gives more effect than eyeshadow, lipstick etc…try putting blush without bronzer as cheeks were originally warm. Just a suggestion to get a better result
Ok here’s my theory why absolutely cool shades of makeup (like void of warmth, cool blue, cool gray) don’t work well on most people. No matter what your season is or your undertone everyone has *some* amount of warmth in their skin, because you are alive. Humans are not gray…unless you’re dead. I would recommend to try blending out cool tones with your blush that’s a good hack. But to be honest I think most cool toned people should aim for neutral shades, maybe shades that lean cool but still have some amount of warmth. (Like this palette) Blue is never going to blend into the skin of an alive person perfectly. So as a makeup artist/hairstylist…the fact that you feel like you need at least a little bit of warmth in your makeup to look like it belongs there doesn’t necessarily change your season. And I’m not a color analysis expert but I have been dabbling in this world for quite some time and I think she was right. I like true summer for you. I think that eyeshadow palette is amazing on you.
That cheek color was throwing the makeup off, indeed. Summers sadly do not really suit bronzer or warmth on the cheeks. For me, the best blush is Bare Back, which I got because you recommended it, so thank you :) it is a perfect Summer shade.
try cool toned green and cool toned brown! Almost all colors have a cool version. When I see your eyes I don't see a warm green shade is cool and muted to me heheheh, still everything looks good on you!
For your green eyes you can use plummy taupe pink shades. You don’t have to use blues and greys. You can use a ton of colors. Brown exist as well just softer cooler iced cappuccino colors.
I feel as though you are a true neutral and can wear just about any color. Maybe you could do a mini series of trying different tones and colors side by side and see which you and all of us think you look best in. That might help. But tbh you look awesome in anything ❤️
In my honest opinion, I think you look gorgeous in this summer palette! You naturally pull it off so well. As for your colour analysis result, I agree with the others saying that your main/dominant feature is softness; I don't think colour analysis is supposed to be too regimented/strict; there are sister seasons, etc. you can lean on. In your particular case, I would agree that you're a natural summer. So long as you honour your softness, you can do cooler tones in the winter and warmer tones when you're more tan! Regardless, you are a beautiful lady, and can pull off any tone! Xx
Hi! I am also a true summer. Eyeshadow recommendation: soft glam palette - dusty rose, rose pink and mix mulberry and Cyprus umber. Foundation: cle de peau the foundation in O20. Use contour not bronzer. Lips - YSL the slim shade 12. Don’t fully apply - pad a little bit and use a clear gloss
I would love to see a side by side picture of you with your makeup done in the cool tones and one in the warm tones. Maybe even your shirt corresponding with the makeup. It would be really great to see them side by side. I have to say you always look gorgeous but I definitely have seen you use other colors in your makeup that compliment you more…this is so confusing🤔 I feel like I’m in the exact same situation with you. Whenever I go get foundation some will say I’m cool tone, some will say warm and some say natural. I am fair skin like you and feel same tone, blue eyes and drab brown hair(lol, I feel anyway) but was very blonde all my younger years. My veins are purplish blue but in some area a little green. When I get my hair colored /highlighted it always turns very warm! Every hairdresser tells me they have to put so much ash in the color to help tone down all the warmth my hair pulls. I also get very confused when I wear certain colors because there are some warm and cool tones that I feel look good on me. I’ve never had my colors done professionally but I have a feeling I would get contradicting results as well.
I think you suit more muted cool tones vs saturated?? maybe that's why the blush and lip colour seemed wrong, the blush was def more warm toned than cool I agree on that
Allana- for that dry skin buy every Hada Labo product you can, layer lightest to heaviest and seal in with your moisturizer-layers and layers of hydration saved my skin. I have “normal” skin now- crazy!
You should try the Dior Pink Lilac it is actually cool toned. Everything goes warm on me too! I have to lean more purple to get a cool toned pink. I used to also use Nude Beige all the time and so mad they’ve changed it. I use endless Cocoa all the time now or Mac Greige lipliner. So good!
For dark ashy eyebrows I found that Anastasia Beverly Hills brow wiz (Ash brown) is the BEST zero warmth.I always find brow pencils in taupe tend to be warm.
I had my color analysis done and for a moment I thought it was too much money to spend into "looks" but it has proven to be a great source of savings ever since!! I cannot tell you how many clothing/makeup items I've bought along the years and never managed to pull off, only to end up giving away or tossing out. Now I know for sure that what colors will work and it gives me next level confidence every time. Best decision ever. 100/10 recommend.
Hi, I think we have very similar colouring, and I also struggle to walk the line between cool and warm tones. I’ve found that despite falling somewhere around the ‘soft summer’ category, very cool toned makeup looks awful. Grey washes my eyes out. Cool browns are much prettier. Pinks can look very bright on me and i prefer a muted red or brown lip/check. (Love the colour of glossier cloud paint in storm). I think this system does not consider my neutral skin tone. I find cool foundation too pink and warm too orange/yellow. Also a total misconception that summers cannot wear greens, browns, burgundy. We have brown hair, greeny eyes and red cheeks! Just my personal experience 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you - I've been looking for a summer makeup video and haven't really found any good ones! I just got categorized as a soft summer by a professional
You should skip the bronzer/contour altogether and use the mauve blush alone for facial color. It was your contour and too-warm blush that needed to be wiped off, not the lipstick. Also i think the haircolor is too warm. Would love to see a look that is completely true summer! No one will think its right if you only try it out half way.
Allana I love the look. Would love a part 2. I love the eyes. The topper is so pretty. Can you tell me if it’s a shimmer or it if it has glitter in it. I can’t put glitter on my eyes so if you have time to respond that would be awesome; or if someone else has used this also awesome. TIA. ❤❤❤
I think that at least part of the issue is that you have a neutral undertone, meaning that you can play on both sides of the cool to warm spectrum. I love you in both, so please don’t give up on the warm palette. The best thing about being neutral is that you have freedom to choose xox
I still think you are a soft summer leaning to soft autumn. thats why too much makeup doesnt look good and you feel weird in it. This lipstick is too bright for your muted features and the blush is very warm. soft summers wear just barely there makeup, no shimmers, no bronzers(sorry). And I think you can handle some of the soft autumn colours as well, but we see you edited, camera can lie, lighting can lie, so we cant be sure:D
Colour is so hard to define, for some people it's clear but some are not that obvious, personally I like the bit of coolness in your makeup but that maybe due to my own neutral to cool undertone. But I've always liked the more warmer tones on you as well!
There appears to be plenty of green options on the true summer category! They just all have a touch of gray or blue to them so they’re a bit mossy or muted.. but they are still green. I have the same exact eyes as you (also maybe skin and similar hair) and I feel weird in blue. I wear a lot of taupe-y greens (think camo) and earthy purples. And I usually do taupe eyeshadow but I was a plum shadow girl for years.
I am also cool toned, only I’m winter. I do love blushbaby blush by mac and bare back by nudestix. I feel that a lot of blushes on my skin get warm, even though its cool on the pan. I loved the eyeshadows on this makeup look!
Rms strobe eyeshadow! It’s neutral cool tone, it’s perfect, you will love it. For blush Armani tint baby pink one saie blush baby, Sisley lipstick rose portofino
The whole season thing for me is more to learn how to play around with colors than anything. I'm a cool sumer but I love black, even thought I really looked tired in black haha but to fix that I put a darker lip or more blush... I can go in the winter colors easily, but never in the warm shades because my main thing is the coolness. Maybe your main thing is softness, so soft warms look good too.
I think I am a soft autumn and I can. wear soft summer makeup and colours occasionally ( especially in the winter lol) but I also found out I’m a olive undertone and ever since I add a green corrector to my products I wear way less makeup and get way more compliments hahahah
I’m a soft summer. I just picked up Nars Dolce Vita, I got the liquid and the powder. I just love it, it’s so nice for Fall. But, it’s definitely the color I’ve been missing in my collection. I also picked up Honest Beauty Plum Berry, it’s really a lovely berry color for this time of year ❤. I think you’re very neutral, so there are going to be some slightly warmer tones that you can probably wear. For Mac lips you can also check out Mehr, Modesty and the Viva glam in Planet. All nice cooler tones.
Ok I’m so obsessed with your journey. I see so many people weighing in against Carol but I feel like she’s the Adele of colour analysis. I’m also a true summer and have learned some makeup colors don’t work well for me. For example, mauve is the exact color of my red cheeks so although that looks amazing for some, it doesn’t work for me. Maybe the greys for you don’t work well because of your eyes so lean into the neutral and cool browns. Personally I lean into the icy pinks and silvers. Also, my eyes are super blue and I love royal blue although it’s not summer. But it’s SO flattering. I feel like it’s the same for you with green! Moral of my long comment: trust in Carol BUT don’t shy away from the colors you love!
Honestly on some of your other videos I saw peoples comments and they were so rude. I didn’t realize everyone is an expert all of a sudden 😅 I think you look amazing and I always lean towards wearing what you like and makes you feel good 🫶
Saw the colour analysis and was a bit surprised. I started following you, because I really like your vibe, but also because we share some very simular shades (apart from me being a peachy neutral skin tone) and contrast levels and I get inspired by your makeup looks. I've taken so many tests, and everything point towards a soft autumn for me. First intuition was that you might be a soft summer, which means that you are more neutral leaning cold, and also share some colours with autumn (ex greens). Does your eyes have any gold flakes or warmth to them? If so, you might be a soft autumn as well, even though you lean more cold..
It’s almost like the makeup is too cool, or maybe we are not used to seeing you in those colours? As others are saying, I feel like your main feature is the softness, and I would say that you are either a soft autumn or soft summer! It would be so interesting to find out if Colour Analysis Studio would have a different result!!
You mentioned that you want to wear certain colors but think you “shouldn’t” because they feel outside of the palette. I struggled with this a ton when I tried to find my season. (Im a deep winter but thought I was a deep autumn because I see a ton of warmth in my skin tone and get compliments when I wear orange). all of this is relative! You can absolutely wear any color, just a slightly cooler version would be “best”. It really doesn’t need to be STAUNCHLY cool. Also the vibrancy of the tones is a factor. You might be better off sometimes wearing a softer warm-ish shade versus a harsh cool tone!
The eyes look GREAT! I honestly also think the lips look great, too! The blush is just so non-harmonious with the eyes and lips. As weird as this sounds, maybe look into a pale purple/lilac shade of blush. A lot of times they show up as a soft pink. That may be very beautiful. I still think you’re a Soft Summer, though.
Colour analysis is silly - Wear what you love and what makes you feel fabulous!! I always think you look amazing. That said, a travel vlog to Korea would be super fun to watch! ❤ It looks like such a fun and interesting place to visit. Also, you are my favourite UA-camr / Content creator 🥰
I actually really like those lips, but I agree they didn't work as well with the warmer leaning cheek. I love this eye look, it is so pretty and soft. I think if the blush was more in harmony with the rest of the look I would really like it, but the lips you ended up doing were really pretty as well. After having my color analysis done the thing I've struggled most with as a Bright Winter is finding a lip that feels "nude" for me but that doesn't wash me out. Sometimes bright colors on my lips feel too much when I have a stronger eye look and nudes are too nude. I think it is all just playing around and seeing what works, but for me switching to bright winter colors immediately looked right and now if i go more warm with my makeup it actually looks really off to me, even nudes that I used to love wearing.
Some makeup recommendations from one summer to another! Sephora rouge gel lip liner in The Nudest (holy grail, I’ve bought at least 4 so far - EDIT - just got to the end and saw you used it 😂 so you know!!), MAC Modesty (you may already have it or have tried it but I find it a great tone!), and Revlon powder blush in Rosy Rendezvous!
I think you're slightly more neutral/leaning cool! I got a colour analysis done and I was neutral leaning warm and got a True Spring analysis. But with my make-up I can't wear anything that is suuuuper warm. I need neutral with a tinge of warm 🤣 I basically decided to now detach from the colour analysis thing and let myself do my own thing! It was super helpful to get a baseline but whenever I watch 'true spring' analysis it's with the idea that you're fully warm toned and I'm not! So, I'd say trust your instincts because you seem to be drawn towards a lot of neutral tones.
Personally I think you're a soft autumn, but you also suit both cool and warm tones - making you a neutral. I mean really who cares you're beautiful no matter what you wear.
I think you should do soft autumn makeup on one side and soft summer on the other side. I don't believe for a second you are true summer. Love the eye look!

Cool browns and plummy tones might feel better than gray and blue shadows.

You do you Allana. We love you❤
A baby pink blush would look very fresh and suit your soft colouring.
Try Colour Analysis Studio. They do the on-line analysis. It rules out all other options. Julia and Alexandra are THE BEST❣️❤️❤️❤️

I totally agree with you!! I defs naturally gravitate to any of the softer sides of the world. Give me all the sage green and pale blue!!
The blush is stunning and cool toned indeed.
But in general, just wear what you feel good in. ❤
In my opinion your essence (another concept linked to colour analysis) is ingenue/ethereal so that is why that bright lip looks "weird"
Just my opinion ❤
Agree that your “essence”/bone structure makes as much of an impact as your color season!
i think you are a soft summer. but also it’s not that restrictive. you can still wear green. it’s about the shade of green that flatters you the best
Yes! Removing bronzer is a big thing which changes everything, also changing base
You look waaaay better in usual warmer tones! And keep rocking the greens, you look sooo pretty in them!❤
Ok here’s my theory why absolutely cool shades of makeup (like void of warmth, cool blue, cool gray) don’t work well on most people.
Love the official end look. You look great.
I think your top lip is starting to get that duck lip/sex doll look. Don’t over fill :((
That cheek color was throwing the makeup off, indeed. Summers sadly do not really suit bronzer or warmth on the cheeks. For me, the best blush is Bare Back, which I got because you recommended it, so thank you :) it is a perfect Summer shade.
Ashy eyebrows are cool toned.
try cool toned green and cool toned brown!
Also, lip blushing is amazing! You won’t regret it! It lasts forever !
you look so amazing in these colors!!! I think the eyes look so bright and alive and you just look so effortless
Bold pink Armani blush looked really nice on you! :)
Would love a video of your fave blushes for cool tones on pale skin. Everything pulls warm on me 🥲
I have the exact same problem and the only blushes that have worked for me are pale purples/lilacs, like Clinique Pansy Pop.
You must try nudestix bare back!! It's 1000% my fave cool pink ever EVER
@@allanaramaa the only blush I’ve liked so far has been Nudestix naughty n spice, so I’ll def try that one next thank you!! :)
You should try Sephora Collection's skinny brow pencil in neutral gray-brown I think you will love it. NOT the triangle pencil, it's too waxy.
How is she not a soft autumn??
I love the eyes so much!! I think you are very close to neutral - soft summer/soft autumn.
i also love your face without makeup 🥰
You look soft autumn, with a neutral undertone so you can dub on the soft summer palette. Jessica Biel is similar to you. In my opinion ❤
Lipstick was the right tone, but too high of contrast for your face.
Haven’t watched the whole make-up yet, but have to say that eyeshadow is definitely making your eyes POP! Can really see the green.
I think you pull off warm and cool undertones but the cool makes your skin look luminous
True summers have greens!!!!
The blush is not the right tone. The one you held up was more accurate
The original lip looks beautiful
These colors definitely suit you. The Anna Edit was a deep Autumn.
Honestly on some of your other videos I saw peoples comments and they were so rude. I didn’t realize everyone is an expert all of a sudden 😅
I think you look amazing and I always lean towards wearing what you like and makes you feel good 🫶
Soft summer! Soft summer! Soft summer!
You totally saved it at the end, looks amazing! 🤩
Hot take…try wearing the total opposite colors of “true summer”….… For science. May surprise yourself hehe
Hi - you could try T2 in Lisa Eldridge (I got colour matched to that and I have the same fair skinned neutral undertones, and it's perfect). X
Allana the makeup is beautiful, love the eyes
Soft summer!! 💕
Loving the eye look and you are, of course, right about blush and lip being off. Edit - love the lip gloss at the end. xoxoxo
Most super models are soft summer; lucky you!
Personally I think you're a soft autumn, but you also suit both cool and warm tones - making you a neutral. I mean really who cares you're beautiful no matter what you wear.
