      I do Photography tours in Lisbon and I usually recommend to my clients a small typical portuguese restaurant called Cana Verde (in Alfama), for the simple reason it's the kind of place I would go to (not overpriced, not pretentious, decent food). For the world famous Pastéis de Nata, my favorite place is Pastelaria Santo António, although you really can't go wrong with most other places.
      Also, definitely, look for places away from the historical area as well because there is just so much offer these days.

    It's very interesting to me to see your suggestions. Many of this kind of videos talk about the same places, which you didn't in several suggestions.
    As to "you have to put olive oil in the sardines"... No, you don't (I don't). Many people even prefer the oil of the sardines (if they aren't dry) on the potatoes.
    Thank you for your suggestions (I'll try a couple of them) and please do come back to try some other places.

      We didn’t have rice with sardinhas and nor was it served that way to us anywhere. We did have it served to us once with the clams at Merendinha Do Arco (my personal favorite spot). Whether it’s right or wrong, I can’t say but I will absolutely say it was delicious and paired very well in my opinion. Then again, I am also Asian and we love just about everything with rice

      @@fomoyolotravel even rice with clams is not usual, it's almost a blasfemy. The clams comes with toasted bread with butter so that you can get all that wonderful juice from the pan.
      I need to recognise it was a nice choice of different representative plates from Portugal, with incident in fish and seafood. You can't go wrong when ordering this.

      Hello I am from Lisboa , glad you enjoyed visiting Portugal. Yes I understood that is what you ordered but that fish being so slim and small in the video it look like a horse mackerel (carapau in Portuguese), they are also a big part of our cuisine and I enjoy eating them. But it can be a robalo also, the only reason I said it could be a carapau is because I buy them at the fish market and they have around 600 to 850 grams but it is possible that is better for a restaurant to buy them smaller to make individual portions. You had a good experience in Portugal but it's just the tip of the iceberg regarding the food we have, next visit should be to Porto and Douro.

    • @fomoyolotravel
      @fomoyolotravel  2 місяці тому +1

      @@AkyraNN Thank you for watching my video and I know what you mean. I was just giving the restaurant the benefit of the doubt that they served us specifically what we ordered as the service staff was great and if they didn't have sea bass, I would assume they would have told us. It definitely was a smaller size compared to other types of bass I've had in the past so i see where you're coming from

      At 4:44 you can see clearly that it is a "robalo"
