    A turbo'd Sentra with 300+hp and a 6spd manual trans sounds amazing....but what would matter just as much (if not more) is how it actually feels and performs in the real world. Not to mention what pricing will be like too. If it will be priced as high as a Civic Type R and gets crazy markups as well, I doubt it make a lot of sales.

  • @juanticimo

    • @Holmesson
      @Holmesson 9 місяців тому +1

      The Sentra SE-R Spec-Vs were pretty quick and handled well, but they were absolute garbage. A friend of mine's Spec-V threw a rod right through the block on a road trip from Texas back to Kansas. Engine failures were typical. The rest of the cars fell apart over the years due to shit build quality and terrible reliability, which is a shame. I used to be a big Nissan guy. I owned a '93 Sentra SE-R, which was SR20DE-T swapped. That car was ridiculously fun and stupid fast. I also owned a 5-Speed Maxima SE and a 240SX fastback. I always figured I'd import an R32 Skyline GT-R someday, but life took me in several different directions. I hope this new Sentra rocks. I hope it performs well and makes Nissan some money, so they can up their game and start cranking out awesome cars with solid build quality again.
      Cheers 🍻

      I had a 2002 and 2011 Spec V and it wasn't hiccup free but it was pretty reliable for me. There was a recall on the 2002 2.5l but never had another problem except c.o.p issue. Transmission issue on 2011 (2x) but I think that was poor repair by mechanic and partial hard driving and also c.o.p issue. Old Nissan was at least top 3, but now...😐 Wish they would ditch that cvt though😔

      @@Holmesson
      I have to respectfully disagree, engine failure was not typical for the Spec, I still have my original Spec V. The paint is in great shape and the motor is still going strong with ZERO issues, the only major repair I had to do with it in the past 20yrs was the lower control arms and that was 2 weeks ago. The only 2 things that needed to be done were reliability mods such as removing the close coupled cat and install a header, and also locktite the butterfly valves. Other than that these cars are rock solid. There are several Facebook groups that are heavily active and Jim Wolf is still producing engine build parts for the QR. It's a GREAT car that I will never get rid of. Sounds like your buddy drove his Spec like he stole it as it is VERY hard to throw a rod on a stock motor especially with the Spec's low rev limit at 6200rpm's.

    • @Holmesson
      @Holmesson 8 місяців тому

      @@SiCaRiI_DaGgEr Hey, that's great that you've had zero issues with yours, but Nissan had recall thousands upon thousands of Spec-V's, Altimas, and whatever else used the QR25DE due to the reasons you listed and more: the stock pre-cats getting sucked into the engine, destroying the piston rings and blowing motors due to material interference or extreme oil consumption/starvation - and the 4 butterfly valves that open by vacuum at 5k RPM which have screws that get sucked into the engine and destroy the piston rings and cylinder walls. I can't remember which occurred to my buddy's car, but a fatal mixture of one of these issues paired with spirited driving ultimately resulted in a rod going straight through his block. I remember the carnage well... I saw the pictures.
      That said, I'm sure there are plenty of reliable examples out there that haven't had these issues. I'm glad you can count yours among them. It sounds like you were aware of the potential engine destroying issues and addressed them accordingly. Hope it continues to give you thousands of trouble-free miles. Cheers!

B17 was a bit of an old platform and everything I've read about the B18 has been positive except for lack of power and the soul-sucking cvt. Just give it enough power this time. Upgrades that made it into the Juke RS never made it to the Sentra Nismo. Had it had the power/tune of the Juke RS it would have been a true Civic Si competitor.

      They have better turbos than the Jukes 1.6 and besides they used the 1.6 on the 2016 model of the Sentra Nismo it only pumped out about 188 horsepower.I thought they were gonna slap the 2.0 VC turbo from the Altima/Q50 or at least the 1.5 VC turbo from the Rogue which gets around 201 horsepower. The 2.0 from the Altima/q50 would definitely be able to get to 300 horsepower easily. I got a tune on my Altima 2.0 it gets around 305 horsepower and about 328 lbs of torque. It would of been really fun on the Sentra with a manual.

    You are much younger than me Joe and going back to the days when Nissan was known as Datsun. Friend of mine had a Datsun 510 sedan that was marketed as a sporty sedan that had a manual transmission. This was in the early 1970s and the car was fun to drive for what it was. Of course with today's technology much more is possible like this Sentra. Thank you for shining a light on these special vehicles.

    I just purchased a Nissan Sentra SV August 2023. I love Nissan and is the only brand I buy!! I love the CVT how it shifts so smooth. My 23 Sentra is rosewood, with the black and beige interior, heated front seats and steering wheel! This is my 4th brand new Sentra! I never had transmission problems because I got it flushed every 30,000 miles. I got regular tune ups and oil changes. My one Sentra had 240,000 on it when I traded it in! I am a big Nissan fan boy!! I wish I could afford the Maxima!!

    🚙👍🏼😀The first new car I bought was when I graduated high school in 2004! It was a 2004 Nissan Sentra spec v!! I put an AEM cold air intake, Greddy Evo 2 exhaust on lowering springs!! With a 50 shot of nitrous! It actually was pretty quick! I used the nitrous a good bit and it took it just fine!! Back then my buddies and I used to have so much fun and drive the crap out of our cars!! I currently own a 2023 Civic Type R FL5! Between 2004 and now I owned 4 different new Civic Si’s over three generations of Si’s! I traded my 2019 FK8 type r for my current FL5! What a blast it has been over the last 20 years! I have always had a thing for sport compact cars that are also practical!! I say Nissan should do it!! I would love to see this in production!! Keep up tue phenomenal content Joe been watching for several years!!! 😀👍🏼🚙

      no worries Nissan didn't lose their way, they simply focused UP MARKET as shown by the GTR and the Z in the background, and both have been runaway successes. yeah, just got back from the 2023 World Cup Finals at MIR and you couldn't throw a rock without hitting a GTR (or something RB26 powered) even a few of the super famous ones spent the 4 days there trying to get into the Finals (ie, Kimbo and Alpha Racing). as if to make point, John Odom of No Prep Kings was there again with his Pro-Mod GTR, although that's just a body, that speaks to the crossover notoriety Nissan's achieved in the traditional drag racing world of 'Murican V8's.

    100 percent interested. I own an FK8 now and will not overpay for an Fl5 or Integra Type S. So 100 percent going with a different manufacturer for my next car. This looks like a really fun and economical option. More importantly it has a manual transmission which is a necessity personally when buying a sports/sporty car. Sports cars should never be automatic

    This is what Nissan needs and I would JUMP on it the day it's released. I owned an '92 SER boy do I regret selling it as well as the 200sx SER. I currently own an '02 Spec V (hence my name) in very good condition with low mileage 64k that I will never sell! If Nissan releases a Nismo Sentra close to this package they def will have my money. This segment is still alive and Nissan would do great in it 6spd w/ turbo 2.0 around 300hp would be great and would sell like crazy. Love the review and great as always Joe!!
