This is a priceless video. Thank you so much for walking us through the construction. I'm studying Classical Architecture to get my proportions right and this video really helps to illustrate all the nuances. P.S. It would be amazing if you'd find the time to make similar videos. I'm mainly struggling with Ionic and Corinthian capitals. I have 9 years professional experience in SketchUp and yet modelling those capitals seems impossible to me.
So glad to hear you found the video helpful. That's my objective. And thank you also for suggesting other ideas. I will definitely keep this under consideration and notify you here should I be able to address the Ionic and Corinthian in other videos. Cheers!
@@TheHomeDesignMentor Thanks a lot! I watched your other videos as well, which are also very interesting. Will be looking forward to more construction/tutorial videos from you. Also, it's very good to realize that apparently SketchUp is very popular in American Architecture companies. In Europe (Germany to be more specific) I'm struggling to find a job where they use SketchUp.
I believe you Can use UA-cam and overlay text if it turns out corrections are required. So you don’t have to redo it all. Takes a lot of work to make these videos.
Yes, it does! It has extensive illustrations for the Parthenon as well a few other detailed plates on other Athenian monuments. As for the Greek entasis, it's hard to find much about it because it did vary so much. I think it was quite individualistic per building.

🏛️I knew there was something I was missing with my 4”x4”x8’ columns, the proportions 😮
wonderful. thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Thank you.
I believe the torus fillet congé is 3.75 units. 11.25-7.5.
Also i think you’ve got units for half the abacus extrusion not the full. At the end (18:40).
Yes, I misstated from the full width there.
I'll have to go in and look at that closely.

Great.
Glad you enjoyed. Classical architecture is so wonderful!
@@TheHomeDesignMentor absolutely. Classical architecture is the eternal style.
Does Turner's book cover the Greek orders at all? I've not found a great reference for Doric or Ionic entasis since it varied so much
