Thanks for the video, replaced My Wife’s today, did it this way, worked good, the turn signal connector gave me a hard time, but the balance was good, I did buy 12 clips, used about 7, and the push pin, your right just went to the Jeep Dealer and $24, thanks.

You’re welcome. Glad to hear that it worked out for you. If I’ve helped at least one person, then I’ve done may job and made it worthwhile.
Amazing how those clips break so easily but in that regard, maybe it makes for pulling the fender off more easily. It’s not a bad thing as long as you’re ready with spare clips on hand.

good info, but you can just take the fender shroud off and leave the fender on. If you have a jack stand remove the tires and its a breeze. You can also delete that puppy, wrap the negative and place it back in the empty battery box and remount the box. Then connect the positive to the positive on the top. You will have to fish it up.

There’s a black plastic tab on the backside of the positive lead on the main battery, it clips to a raised edge on the stock battery, pry it out and the positive lead comes off easily

Just a heads up…you mentioned the new main battery was about an inch shorter. It’s possible you have the wrong battery for the truck. Some have H6 like you got, and others with the tow package or auxiliary switches have the bigger H7 battery.

Good to know. Thanks for the heads up. Makes sense as we have the tow package with the auxiliary switches. We’re not running anything on them or towing anything so I’m hoping we’ll be ok.

@@EverydayATV no problem. Your video was actually helpful, that’s how I changed my batteries on my Gladiator as well and it was super easy. Thanks for sharing the method.

Guys! Don't remove the whole fender!!! Just the inner fender lining!!! Its much easier and you don't brake the fender clips!

If you remove the aux battery then connect the positive from the aux to the positive on the main battery and tie the aux ground out of the way you wont need the aux battery anymore. I removed the aux battery from my jeep 4 years ago.

@@OldGrowthRedwood what’s your preferred method, assuming you’ve had to go through this Jeep engineering design nightmare? Hopefully you had an easier time. I had a friend with an ‘18 JL do the method shown by Wayalife (removing the fuse/solenoid harness at the top of the battery box) and ended up damaging one of the connector plugs. The third way is remove the inner fender liner. Probably would have had some broken clips there too.

Taking a fender off to replace a battery? I’ll pass

Right?? What crackpot engineers came up with this design??….absolutely crazy. Other alternatives are to take out the fender liner and replace the plastic rivets or disassemble a fuse distribution center that sits up on top of it and pray all of your electrical items still work after you put it all back together again. Bottom line is all 3 methods suck. Shouldn’t be this hard.

No need at all to remove the Fender or the front wheel as others have shown.
