    My name is Gena ...not Kevin . Anyhoo . I read a lot of the comments and there seems to be people writing that want Sean to not be in dining reviews . I’m the opposite ! You need the different personalities to get a true review . I have 2 boys that i can base if they would like or dislike a restaurant or food by Sean !!! Either Sean is not adventurous ( like my teens) or he hasn’t been exposed culturally as the others ( Steve’s taste is s little plain and picky too ) ....and that’s ok !!! He’s young and will develop his taste buds and reviews . I think he’s adorable and his honest and non presumptuous attitude is refreshing !!

    My husband and I quote Charles so much in our every day lives. Our old favorite was when he was talking about them "angrily throwing cheese" on a pizza, but pretty sure the "old chicken in a rocking chair that died with hate in its heart" is our new favorite Charles line... haha... cracks us up everytime.

    Charles "Peas" Boda - the chicken died of old age with hate in her heart. I love Charles! Pete - try steaming fresh vegetables. That makes a huge difference in taste/texture. Also try roasting root vegetables, like carrots, parsnips and turnips.

    The Pete Show: A Survey in Mansplaining
    Pete pretends like he want to care about everybody's opinions, but in reality, if somebody doesn't agree with him, he rudely interrupts to talk the other's opinion down. His opinion is not the only one that matters. STOP INTERRUPTING when somebody doesn't agree with you, Pete! It's arrogant, rude, and so petty. He acts like a petulant child when somebody doesn't completely agree with him.

    Much of the problem with skinless, boneless chicken that is used in most "add on" recipes is that the government requires it be cooked to 165F. By the time the customer gets the chicken the temp goes even higher and the chicken gets even dryer. Compare this to typical fried chicken that is coated in egg wash, flour, and other "secret" ingredients which all act a a sealer and keep the chicken moist. Fried chicken is almost always moist. Skinless boneless is almost always dry in high volume restaurants. It's even dryer when it is pre-cooked as an option. The lesson here is avoid ordering skinless boneless chicken as an add-on in restaurants.

      I order chicken ALL the time as either a side or as a main dish. It sounds like it wasn't simply a dry chicken issue but rather one that suffered from woody breast syndrome. This issue can be exacerbated if the chicken is frozen and/or cooked at too high of a temperature. Dried out chicken with woody breast syndrome is not a good combo. Usually in my experience though it's not the entire piece of chicken that has the problem, just a portion of it.

    Cheesecake w/balsamic? My grandmother used to make a fruit compote/balsamic reduction that was fantastic on lemon sponge cake. Maybe that's what they had in mind? Chicken breast can be pounded and cross cut to tenderize. But if they are buying bulk, discounted chicken, it should be stewed. Also if you salt chicken before cooking it can draw all the juices out causing it to dry. I salute you all for your bravery.

    I used to work at TTS, and I saw it go from linen napkins and tablecloths, to paper napkins. They cut so many corners, they were always on the chopping block to be closed due to these issues. It's an overflow restaurant for the other restaurants. The only thing it has going for it is porch seating for the parades.

      I was one of those who didn't care for Charles in the beginning, but after hearing his style of reviewing things...it was clear he was informative, detailed, and well spoken...just in a very monotone way (took some getting used to). Sean has been on The Dis about the same amount of time as Charles and I just don't see him being a strong and detailed voice when it comes to food and dining. He seems to be more versed in rides and attractions. But then again he comes off sounding unsure by constantly throwing in "uhhhhh". Bottom line is that if you have a show about food, you wouldn't want someone who has little to no food or dining experience. You wouldn't put in someone on a show about music if they only have Justin Beiber CDs in their collection.

    Aged balsamic vinegar on ice cream or fresh fruit is VERY Italian and super delicious - but it has to extremely high-quality aged balsamic, and we know Tony's ain't got it.

    • @caitandrews533
      @caitandrews533 6 років тому +4

      yea a proper balsamic reduction is really pricey and out of Tony's reach I'm sure....maybe they just need to take the sugar out of the soup and add it to their reduction =)

    • @SDErrico2010
      @SDErrico2010 6 років тому +2

      Carrie Lynn - Yeah, they either buy the reduced commercial balsamic you can buy at any grocery or take a low grade balsamic and reduce to a syrup on the stove. It is noting like the taste of a true 100 year old aged balsamic drizzled over some real vanilla ice cream with fresh sliced strawberries. That's decadence.

    ive been watching this show for a while now and I can't understand why Pete is so stubborn with his opinion and will not let anyone have a different opinion without him letting them know that they are stupid and wrong. Charles, Craig, and Steve sometimes have great points but gets interrupted by Pete and get told that they are wrong if it goes against what he said. God forbid if you interrupt Pete, he gets all pissy. I love this show but it gets so toxic when Pete hears an opinion different from his.

    A lot of people on here are hating on Sean, but I actually thought this was one of his better reviews. He had in-depth and thought out opinions. He seems like a picky eater, but honestly, a lot of people are, so it's good to have that perspective on the show.However, Charles is right about Pete. I'm intrigued by the cheesecake/vinegar thing as it looked like there were strawberries on the plate too. Did you mix all three together? I've made mascarpone ice cream served with strawberries soaked in balsamic vinegar (and sugar). It was pretty darned good. I know there's a wide gulf between cheesecake and ice cream, but since both use custard as a base with one baked and the other frozen it might have the same effect.

      Bethany Walker, I see what you're saying, and I suppose you're right that a review show should be representative of different palates. However, Sean still fails to be able to describe what he doesn't like about certain dishes, which doesn't function well in the context of a food review.

    Great review guys. I love it when you get a bit riled up. Diet madness aside, My feeling towards vegetables is much like yours Pete. Up until the last few months I hated, with a capital H, asparagus. That was until I marinated some in citrus vinaigrette (balsamic vinaigrette will work too) and grilled it. This is now my favorite veg and great for low carb. Slicing zucchini or summer squash and doing the same is really good too. Keep up the good fight. Going the low carb route here too. Scott

    One dish was all salt; one was all pepper. Soup disgusting. Two meals inedible. Dessert with runner marks down the plate. But it's getting better lol. As long people keep eating here they don't have to make it better. Guests put their food blinders on the minute they step off the plane and will pay $50 for Chef Boyardee as long as it includes a good parade spot.

  • @robertofenloch9595

    The salt complaints could (probably) be solved with one simple request...tell them you have low-salt dietary restrictions. You mentioned how well they catered to your low-carb diet, so low-salt should be easier to do. Assuming they make all the food to order.

    Having gone to culinary school, and having a sensitive palate, I think these guys do a pretty fair job. It is enough for the average person to see if they would enjoy it. I've not eaten at Tony's, probably won't until something drastically changes. Keep up the good work gentlemen.

    Now they need to do a review of Ale & Compass, the replacement for Captain's Grille, which was just as infamous on the DIS Unplugged as Tony's!

    Pete, what is your favorite restaurant in the United States? (Have you dined at Daniel in NYC?)
    Charles is a star.

    You guys need to a line of DIS Unplugged t-shirts. Have cartoon versions of each of you with a signature comment. You all have so many funny ones. I would buy the whole line to wear in the parks! Charles' chicken comment would be perfect for a T.

    I did not see this coming. Pete keeps saying 'outstanding' at Tony's?. Salad everyday has definitely altered his tastebuds. Next week Pete re-reviews Boatwrights and leaves pleasantly surprised. I am amazed Disney can't serve decent Italian food (which always has a decent margin anyway) at a good price. Disney's margin must be HUGE on this stuff.

    So I am guessing I will still avoid this place a little longer... Maybe a retry next year December...

    Hope your right Pete. Tony's should have a traditional Italian menu that compliments the theme. The food I had there wasn't bad but it wasn't high quality. Hopefully this new chef will turn it around and make it the dining jewel of Main Street USA. Keep us posted. Thanks for all you reviews because it actually enhances our trips and plans to Walt Disney World.

    Well, I'm sold. We're going to reserve it again for December's trip. I *LOVED* my salad last time, HATED my Chicken Parm... The time before I had Butternut Squash soup and a Flatbread Pizza -- they were both... GOOD. Ate meatballs off my kids' plates, and those were good, too! The chicken there is SO bad, and the pasta that accompanied it was watery and tasteless. My husband liked the steak enough to want to go back (over trying the new menu at Diamond Horseshoe). I'll stick with the ice cream (it is NOT gelato, despite what the menu reads) over the balsamic cheesecake... ugh, gross!

    I know pictures can be deceiving but based off the pictures and the review it seems like Tony's is better then it was 2 years since I ate there. I'm so glad to hear that they are a least trying to make it better.

    A balsamic REDUCTION can have a bit of sweetness to it. Maybe this just wasn't reduced enough?
