I use to be a short order cook years ago. I saw a lot of thing go down and because of that I'm very leary about eating in any restaurant. Some times the fancy ones were the worst.
Always stick to plain, simple, edible and easily digestible food on a cruise ship. It is not a gourmet restaurant no matter how bright and pretty its lights are. I'm talking a spinach quiche, a couple of boiled eggs and a fruit salad, a couple of hot dogs and some beans, some chicken soup and crusty bread, a well-done steak with a baked potato, spinach and mashed potatoes, eggplant sandwich on some parmesan bread, and maybe a couple of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with warm milk for a late-night snack. How about some yogurt or cottage cheese topped slightly with fruit? How about chocolate chip cookies with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream? Buttered french toast with canadian bacon? 😋😋😋
1, you don't have to refrigerate ketchup. 2, nobody does refrigerate mustard. And 3, e coli comes from human poop and salmonella comes from chicken poop. Beef poses no greater risk than any other ingredient.
Some cruise ships have a designated sushi bar and a master sushi maker, don't think it's fair to label all cruise lines this way, these things are literally everything you eat on a cruise, are you supposed to bring your own food 😅
Pretty much true, but if you refrigerate it you do need to place it back in the fridge before you gets warm. Also you shouldn't let it be in direct sunlight.
When I was 13, my mom took us kids on a cruise with my grandparents. We wanted to experience the fine dining restaurants so we went to a steakhouse that cost $40 just to get in. Even though the steaks tasted amazing, they were really no better than the beef we could order in the main dining for free.
Wow, where to start. I haven't seen sushi on a buffet on a cruise ship in years. Most lines that offer sushi have dedicated restaurants that make it fresh to order these days and do a very good job at it. Pizza on the buffet may not be the best but again several lines have pizza restaurants that make pies to order in full view of the customer and are usually quite good quality. I personally don't care for soft serve ice cream so I go to the ice cream station onboard where I can get scoops of a fair variety of flavors served by an employee in more sanitary conditions. Almost every restaurant on land also keeps mustard and ketchup on the tables. It is used up way too fast for it to go bad. The cruise I just got off of a few days ago, as far as I could tell, had no iceberg lettuce, at least on the salad bar. They had nice mixed greens. And this was not a high end cruise line btw. I just have to wonder how many cruises the writer for this video has been on in the last few years and on how many lines as this information seem outdated. I would have warned folk away from the main dining room which on most cruise lines is the worst option as they are really fancy looking cafeterias where the food has been prepped for hours ahead of time and kept warm/cold until service as there is no way they can make that many meals to order. Just about any other option is going to be better. But, as always, these are just my opinions.
Must be wearing a mask in the car with no one else in the car haha 😂 just eat the dam food and enjoy a vacation. Do they know that it has a 1 hour turn around on curse ships on average. They are so timed in on these ships. Like a well oiled machine
Well, this list pretty much eliminates much of cruise food.... I guess canned soup that you open and heat up yourself is all that is left... Guess I won't be signing up for a cruise.
or just eat from the fancy restaurants on the ship where the food is made to order. but by doing that or eating off the ship is wasting the money you spent because the buffet food is included/free
When I was a young teen, my mother was seeing a gentleman and they went on a cruise (without me and without Mom’s sweetheart’s sons, much to my disgruntlement). I then fantasized about the day I myself would be grown up and would go on a cruise with my sweetheart. Well, there goes THAT fantasy!
Don't listen to most of what this video says as most of it is just plain wrong. My wife and I have been on many cruises including one last week and except for the main dining room which always disappoints the food was very good, even that on the buffet. I have noticed more differences between ships in the same line than between lines so some may be better than others but I have never experienced or heard of outbreaks of any kind of food born illness. Other issues, maybe, but that is a whole different discussion :D
If you google problems on a cruise ship, the best option is to not take a cruise in the first place. I would not take a cruise even if I won the 200 million dollar lottery !!
I contracted the Norwalk virus when a cruise ship docked in my town and for that reason alone, I’ll never go on a cruise. I was so sick, I was wishing for death.
This is literally everything you could possibly eat on a cruise.
Guess you bring your own food 😂😂😂
Bread and water guys ohh an a hazmat suit apparently

Ok, I guess I shouldn’t eat on my cruise then 🤣💀
This assumes that you are eating at buffet style food. Cruise ships mostly have restaurants which are basically like same as most places on land.
I worked on cruise ships for eight years and con confirm this. Also, avoid the crew mess food.
Did you work in the galley? I’ve heard they hold on to eggs for months to years, under the belief that flipping them over once a week preserves them.
@@UncleEbenezer77 Musician, but word got around about things to avoid, and I did get the chance to eat at most of the restaurants.
So you expect me to eat healthier on vacation than I do normally???

I grew up drinking out of a green garden hose during the summer, nothing I ever ate made me sick, unlike the delicate flowers we call kids these days.
Here here! 🍻
Just so you know we have the same food safety rules on our ships that you do on land
Taken many cruises never got sick from any food….sea sickness yes…

This narrator’s voice is so pleasant. Much better than that usual high-pitched and overly-dramatic whiner.
Actually mustard is vinegar based. It doesn't need refrigeration unless it's been around for more than a year.
Same goes for Ketchup.

Spending all that money on a cruise... to only eat fruits and veggies 😂😂

It's a floating Senior Center. I say just go for it in these final months.
they have cruises for all ages
Tellin me you can't look at an egg and tell if it's cooked or not?
Ma’am…I’m confused. What is we supposed to eat⁉️
Jeez, what's left...Saltines???
Okay, I have to go make some pizza now!
I love fruits and veggies as much as any Tom, Dick or Howard, but who wants to go on a cruise and subsist on raw snacks?
i will still eat all of these
Must be wearing a mask in the car with no one else in the car haha 😂 just eat the dam food and enjoy a vacation. Do they know that it has a 1 hour turn around on curse ships on average. They are so timed in on these ships. Like a well oiled machine
Why does Kelly sound like she had a cold while recording this?
I like to be able to leave when I want _ so no cruise for me!
Well you can leave the cruise ship any time you want to......
Technically
@@christianoliver3572 lol
when a ship docks at a port you are free to come and go all day long. some cruises dock at a different port every single day, sometimes overnight
ok.... what can we eat?
Well, this list pretty much eliminates much of cruise food.... I guess canned soup that you open and heat up yourself is all that is left... Guess I won't be signing up for a cruise.
ignore this nonsense
So You have to eat Your Meals off the food ship when You go on excursions.

@@kngrfdegj5940 The point stands that this video kind of killed my fantasy

It really does depend
Disinformation! Most cruise ships know how to serve food properly!
This was very disappointing for a foodie cruise nerd these are definitely not facts 🎉
Eat nothing?
Just the uncut apples.🍎🍏
What just don’t cruise or starve
Lots of salad ingredients are contaminated. 😢
I suppose it's steak and taters ....
So, according to you we shouldn't eat tanything.
Can't imagine a more vain and soulless activity than a cruise ship trip.
says someone who has never been on one
Don’t believe it!
So bascially eat nothing
it's a cruise! Eat everything!
and i was JUST going to go on a cruise lol
have fun!
