One of my favorite local/neighborhood pizza places has a crust choice called a Keystone Crust, which is a double decker crust. Fish was a staple on Fridays during pre-Vatican II times .KFC also got rid of their potato wedges, but if you live where there's a Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken, you can have potato wedges
I worked at a Taco Bell back in the late 80s. Not only did it have real beef, it had *fresh* beef. We used to have to cook it daily. We took these big, rectangular containers - I'd call them pots, but they're too shallow. Into the container went fresh ground beef (not frozen), and a big package of seasoning. Unlike some other taco places (looking at you, Del Taco), this did not include oatmeal, just seasoning. We then took a tool that was a long metal handle with a piece of metal on the end that was like a bar that had been bent many times to make a number of parallel bars connected by small bends, kind of like a potato masher, and constantly stirred the beef to cook it up. Everything else was similarly fresh. We fried the shells, shredded the lettuce and cheese, sliced the tomatoes, etc. The only things that came in cans were olive slices, jalapeno slices, sour cream, guacamole, and sauces. Even the beans were fresh. We used to pressure cook those. That always made me slightly nervous. Nothing like an unskilled, marginally trained high school student operating an industrial pressure cooker....
Anyone remember Taco Bell's "chili burger", the Bell Beefer ? They had them in California stores in the late '60s, they were like a taco flavor 'sloppy joe' on a bun with cheese and onions, used to eat lots of those.

One I really miss is the Roy Rogers breakfast bar with the all you can eat creamed chipped beef. Not fast food but why did they stop selling onion flavored tater tots?
So I have seen lobster rolls in Maine, green chili burger in Colorado and guava cheese empanadas in Miami. All at McDonalds, Aren’t all these dishes just regional?

Taco Bell missed the point on the enchirito and beefy tostadas, they were the best items on their menu, they need to re-group and get back to the originals. Don't mess with a dish that's already perfect, good grief, who comes up with this discontinued item list! Whoever it is needs to be demoted! So did McDonalds on their onion nuggets and crispy apple pies, come on, you guys listen to your customers!!
I got one! Hardee's had fresh fried chicken. You could get an entire meal including mash potatoes, Mac and cheese, and apple pie. They are winning over KFC customers in my town and I never knew why it didn't last but I got a b on my presentation for speech of class with secret video of how it was prepared😂
Happy for your B.
The Hardee's where I live still has the Frisco Burger. Now they have one with chicken 🍗🐔
I love buffets and salad bars!!!
When Taco Bell had real beef.
😆IKR!!
And black olives..why would they not have black olives? They were delicious in the Burritos..😊
@stevensauer8539 My first job too 1986
Anyone remember Taco Bell's "chili burger", the Bell Beefer ? They had them in California stores in the late '60s, they were like a taco flavor 'sloppy joe' on a bun with cheese and onions, used to eat lots of those.
As a kid, the Bell Beefer was my favorite at Taco Bell.
I remember
I don’t remember them but I wonder if it was anything like taco John’s taco burger? I used to order them all the time. Was a burger bun with taco meat, and cheese. I miss them, altho I moved long ago to states with no taco John’s, and I don’t think they sell them anymore.
@@csailer2353 Taco John's taco burger and Taco Bell's Bell Beefer were very similar although I preferred Taco Bell's version. Both were really good, though!
LATE 70S EARLY 80S The Jack burrito. Deep fried deliciousness!!!!
Godfather's Taco Pizza YUM!
I'm mad that most of these were before my time and that I missed the ones I was alive for!
Another place I miss is Frisco Barrito, they had a 3lb BBQ steak and rice burrito on their menu.
I still miss the Enchrito and the McDLT.
That was awesome. 10 outta 10. Now I'm hungry
I remember when they had tacos that were made with fried flour tortillas. Those were the only ones my younger stepsister could eat.
You don't have this option at Mexican restaurants where you live? They're everywhere in Southern Colorado. We love a chicken taco on deep fried white (how you'd order it here).
i want the chilli cheese burrito back damn you taco bell!
That was my favorite
I LOVED the superbar!
My favorite order, soft taco, green burrito, and an enchirito, heavy on the red sauce. Sadly, no green burrito on enchirito
Half the things I used to make in the 90s at Carls people don't even remember. Remember the steak sandwich? It had some funny commercials which are still on UA-cam. We also had a different Bacon Swiss Chicken. Now it's this weird "hand breaded" thing. It used to be just a deep fried chick breast patty, and was amazing :D
In houston we used to stop at Wendy's for their apple dumpling with a clear cinnam on. sauce. I seem to remember the salad/ choice bar at the same time. And jack in the box had just started croissant breakfast sandwiches. We'd stop and get. Bkfst to go on our way to nursing school. N̈ow at 78, 😂i dont even get takeout coffee except about once every 2 weeks. I was spending over $600 a month. Bought an $80 Krups espresso machine and make my own. Get syrups from the discount wholesale stores, sugar free, and im a happy woman.😅😅😅
The frisco burger at hardees is still going strong in tennessee, one of my faves.
I loved the Pizza Hut Priazzo. So good!
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of intelligent effort.
What about the Long John Silver's chicken peglegs? I guess those have been forgotten by everybody.
My Catholic grandparents used to take me to the LJS on Federal highway in Ft. Lauderdale most Fridays during lent( when you're supposed to avoid meat). When I was little I wasn't crazy about fish so my Grandma would sneakily get me the chicken pegleg and slip it to me on the dl😂. I miss u grandma and grandpa 🤗✨💚🥀💙😉
What was a peg leg?
@@sylvia106 the large joint of a chicken wing, battered and fried at 350 degrees 6.5 minutes
Loved the frisco
They still sell the Frisco burger at the Hardee’s I go to in NC. They have a couple of them, even a breakfast one. They are great !!!
👍🏻
Hardee's still has the Frisco burgers in Kansas.
Man, two tacos for $.99. Take me back. The McDLT slapped.
