I had to download quicktime. Then close everything out then try to open it all again.
it does work for me. i'm using 14.0 too. maybe because i have quicktime installed on my pc as what scott suggested.

It doesn't work for me in vegas 17
I renamed C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 17.0\FileIO Plug-Ins\compoundplug folder to compoundplug.deleted, then reopened vegas and still imported video did not have audio track.

2021 and its no longer vegas BUT it still works. i tried all sorts of dumb stuff for literally hours... watch your video and BAM my audio works again. Thank you so much and have an awesome day and life :)
I did it a few times before with these same instructions but from other videos on this topic except it didn't work at all until now, until this very video, same instructions... but it suddenly worked just now. Good thing I didn't give up trying. I was on the verge of reinstalling the program completely. Ah, I am so happy. Thank you.

Still works on Vegas Pro 13 in 2021 almost 2022, Thank you Sir,
When you do this with Vegas 17, you are not able to add the video track.
So I'd probably have to put on audacity and record whole file in it and then put the audio in and synchronize. :/

This totally fixed it for me! For some reason tho, the files were in "Program Files", not "Program Files x86". Thanks so much for this video!! I was so panicked after recording for 1 hour and seeing no audio when I imported into Sony Vegas. Glad you helped find a fix to this~ :D
depends on if you're using vegas 32 big (11 and earlier in the x86 folder) or vegas 64 bit (the other foldler).
I did this and it caused a lot of problems with both the audio and video cutting out at random spots.
Worked for me on Vegas 15 - so weird, I've been using this program for 3 years and never had the problem until tonight.
Thank you, LonePC! Four years after you made this video, it helped me fix the same problem in Vegas Pro 17, except I had to go to C: > Program Files > Vegas > Vegas Pro 17.0 > FileIO Plug-Ins to get to the compoundplug folder.

Helped me a lot.
My problem is my camera made separate folder for VIDEO and AUDIO, in my previous version of Vegas it was ok and the program fetch the audio and synchronize withe the video... Now I have Vegas 13 and I wanna re-edit my old videos and the sound is not there, just empty cases in the sound section...
This still works on Vegas Pro 18!

Worked for me in version 18, imported a Dolby Digital audio soundtrack unfortunately it didn't import the video track.

I'm using Sony Movie Studio Platinum 13 from Steam and it didn't fix the problem.
Now when I try to add media, it says "Warning: An error occurred while opening one or more files. The reason for the error could not be determined". When I drag and drop a video, it says "None of the files dropped on Movie Studio Platinum - Steam Powered could be opened."
When I rename the folder back to compoundplug, the video doesn't come with audio again. *I could not find any tutorials on Sony Movie Studio Platinum 13 on how to fix this problem.*

Doesn't work on Vegas pro 17, in fact it makes it slightly worse because after changing the folder name you cant simply drag a file onto the timeline any more, you have to use the import function in the file menu and navigate to it.

Fixed but the audio still bug i saw video duration 00:23:47;00 but at audio just 00:11:53;00 when i import,the media is not Sync with audio.

UltraSpiderCole I found a solution, it make take a while but it works, basically you can make another UA-cam account upload the video you don't audio for, and download it via mp3 from a website but that's on your own risk if you want to do that, but it been working for me
