I got the goofiest smile on my face at the reveal. What a fun gimmick! Imagine if a bag company tried to explore this design space today; I'd love a bag that had a smaller hinge opening like this (maybe not spring loaded, save on weight there) for a quick-access top compartment. I'd love something like that.
I own the sage version of this. Its not that strange at all. In fact it is one of the most structurally rigid bags i own. Its not at all heavy, compared to a goruck e.g. The internal compartments are smartly layed out and the pull up tabs are really useful indeed, since the laptop can slide down in its safe space without issues. The materials are superb, and you cannot tell how much stuff is inside the backpack. It always stays in its shape no matter if its empty or filled. btw im 190 and it fits my back just fine, compared to others in its size. Again, I couldn't disagree more on the usefulness of the pull-up tabs.
hey Clint, I have the North Face Access Pack V1, it has a few more pockets (with pull tabs for 2 phones) and a pocket in the laptop sleeve for your charger. there are no bolltle pockets but 2 quick access pockets in the front. I have used it and it's extremely durable and is still like new. the only thing I don't like about it is it has a slanted bottom and won't stand on its own. I think the shoulder straps look better on. this V1 as well as I find them comfortable.
@@ThePerfectBag I used it for a year and loved it except for the fact it wouldn’t stand on its own, it’s still in excellent condition as these were extremely well made. I have retired it and I am thinking of selling it but keep putting it off because I have a soft spot for it. I am now using the Modern Dayfarer Active Sling Pack as my EDC is smaller now and I have less to carry. (I love this pack for the lighter loads. My Travel pack is an ALPAKA shift pack V2 and I also have the ALPAKA tech brief 14” in VX21 dark green. For slings I have the ALPAKA tech case V2 dark green, the Bellroy lite sling in bone and the AER Day sling V2 in black VX. My packable backpack is the Bellroy lite backpack in bone. I recently purchased the Able Carry Daybreaker 2 in VX42 dark green for day hikes.
@@ThePerfectBag I’m looking forward to the review on the coyote version, I was torn on getting that when I got mine but decided on the dark green version as most of my pouches are green. I love that the daybreaker 2 lets me use my pouches rather than a pocket for everything. (How our tastes change over the years).
Yeah I hope folks enjoy it - this isn't going to be the right bag for most - but like a delorean, there's someone out there who will just have to have it

I still own and use the original bag released in 2016. It's a great bag and still used as my primary office bag when I go in. Great for working out of
Love that!!!
I love how you review all types of weird and wonderful bags.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Love to hear from someone who owns and loves a bag I've explored
What about weather resistance?
That is a weird spaceship 🚀 bag 😂 I wasn’t ready for this.
I was so shocked when I tried to open this thing for the first time!

The daybreaker 2 is so underrated - I just got the coyote and am making another video on it
