Always fun to see reviews of ILE bags, since they they're my local bag maker and they don't get enough coverage. I think for folks that are more everyday and travel oriented rather than cycling, the Race Day and Travel Pack would be interesting because offer a very fast-access-oriented take on clamshell bags. Also, if folks sign up for their mailing list, they do big sample sales from time to time where you can get great deals on prototypes or scuffed models.
I have a couple really funky prototypes and rarities from those sales -- best prices I've ever seen on dyneema tech pouches and such!! Plus a rare not-quite-Default Mini with a single messenger/sling strap, which is my favorite bag for riding my motorcycle in particular
Heck yeah, I just ordered my first ILE, the 22L default patchwork and I am so excited. I have never had anything better than a $40 Walmart backpack and everything I keep hearing about this one is amazing. A lot of money but seems like it will last me forever, I live out of a backpack most of the time, so excited 😊
I love that ILE made it onto your channel, or any channel at all really 😂 They make incredible quality stuff, with a great warranty to boot. I'm not a huge fan of roll tops (which is their specialty) but the Radius, Radius mini, and the Race Day have all been in my regular rotation, and have never let me down. Huge fan of that company, and a huge fan of your channel. Thank you as always!
I love every ILE bag I've yet handled, even if sadly I haven't gotten my hands on a Flaptop yet -- given how many errands I run by bicycle, might be one of my next buys in the future. I've heard it's a clone of a much older and long-since defunct Bay Area messenger bag company's design, which is why it's so different from basically any other ILE pack (edit: though with plenty of modern touch-ups from Eric and co. to suit their house style of course!). Love that ILE doesn't really overcharge for sailcloth options and has multiple colors of X-PAC at any given time, to boot. Also those big side pockets with cinch straps over top are extra handy for heavy-duty cycle locks -- the bike carries your waterbottles for you on the move, so you can just pop the bottles in the backpack to carry with you after you've locked your bike up
Great info from you here! The Flaptop was a fun bag to test for me - not practical for my life, but I can see how this would be a gamechanger for a lot of folks!
@@ThePerfectBag oh one more tidbit -- the really creative thing a full-size messenger flaptop like this can do, that I've seen bike messengers haul large parcels with, is using the flap and its straps as a sort of beavertail to cinch down boxes or other items that are too large to fit in the main body of the pack (you can also kinda do it with a smaller flaptop like on the GR136 Genesis or Savotta Jaakari S, or even some Klettersack-type rucks like the Tom Bihn Shadow Guide if they have two full-length straps, but it's definitely less secure without the full flap to grip it)

Yeah - I’ve wanted a radius for awhile - and I missed the last sample sale. Thanks for watching man.
That would have been awesome back when I lived in a big city doing groceries. Really cool backpack
