I knew It's going to be a hard swap, it took me right about 2 months starting from getting the engine, wiring, fuel tank, running gear out from the MK3 VR6, then cleaning and painting and buying new parts engine and running gear wise, then started to tear apart the MK2, old stuff out.. new stuff in, figuring out the wiring because I sticked with the CE1, getting the immobilizer written off and fixing small leaks.

Great video, thanks for keeping the Mk2 forum going. I've had at least one Mk2 in my life since May of 2000. I love these things and I'm glad you do too. I also have a good idea of the exorbitant amount of time you spent editing/producing this video.
My Criticism is that you need to upgrade the brakes. Those knuckles are for the smallest possible mk2 brakes (9.4"), which are not sufficient for any kind of performance use. My stripped out 8v road race car could fade and produce smoke from the 11" Corrado G60 front brakes.

Ok here is my situation. I picked up a 3.2L engine with wireharness, and ecu for a trade of my 16V head and $400. It came from a Audi A3 8P. Last year I brought a 02M Transmission with axels and everything. I was going to put it into my mk4 1.8T. The shop told me that the transmission was from a 24V VR6!!! I originally was going to put a 5sp transmission on the 3.2L but now decided to use the 02M since it’s rebuilt, cleaned, and won’t have to worry about purchasing another 02J.

Two 👍👍 up for a great video man, very informative. I've had my MK2 since day 1 but have been out of the loop for some time so I have some questions. What made you choose the Mk4 linkage? Is the throw shorter or does it just shift smoother and/or is there some other benefit? Also, you mentioned you are using the stock mk2 A-arms so the wheels will remain at a stock width. Would that also be true using the tubular A-arms? Last question for now I think... lol You mentioned you will be swapping out the gas tank for a MK3, I haven't gone through all your videos yet to see if you did this already but I would also like to do this swap. Do we need Mk3 straps if our MK2 straps are good? Also, keep up the good work man 👍

Hey man just for clarity, can the swap be done if my mk2 has ce1 without swapping the harness to ce2?

I think you can but there's a lot of wire splicing that needs to be done. From what I've gathered it's easier and cheaper just to swap it to ce2.
