Firepower caught the magic of the likes of Screaming for Vengeance, Painkiller, and Defenders of the Faith, and Rob just wailing like that at 70 was unbelievable. He hasn’t lost a step.
Judas is an zombie band, they die and revive a lot of times and it's insane that they really started to be awesome as f with British Steel then got down with point of entry, got back with screaming vengeance, got down with turbo, got back again with painkiller, got down bad with juggulator, then got back yet again with Nostradamus and got really back with Firepower and Invincible Shield now on, it's just absurd they are that long on the metal industry
@@kjlim3743 in my opinion it's amazing how good some of the more, and then somehow miraculously bad some of them are. Play some amazingly iconic covers, and then there is some of the incredibly bad ones: point of entry, Ram It Down (and everything after it done by Mark Wilkinson. His covers are so terrible it's bizarre Judas priest seems to like them).
I realize we weren't going to agree on things when you put "Sad Wings Of Destiny" and "Sin after Sin" almost last. Those two are top of my list, and yes they aren't quite modern metal, but the song composition is so amazing.
Thank you so much for giving Nostradamus props, I don’t understand why people hate it so much, some of the solos in revelations, pestilence and plague, Nostradamus, etc. are amazing. I mean a band that released its first record in 1974 doing sweep picking!?? How often do you hear that? And that’s just one reason that album is good I could go on and on. It just needed to be shorter.
I literally came here just to see how you ranked Defenders of the Faith. I am SO happy to see someone give that album its due respect, it gets overlooked so much

Could be DOTF album underrated? Its the Old Testament of heavy metal for me on par with Powerslave at least
I just never hear it or its tracks played or mentioned as much as British Steel, Vengeance, or Painkiller. DOTF had a tough act to follow and did so perfectly in my opinion. It feels like people overlook the album and that's a shame
Yeah for me sad wings is fantastic and I get why it was omitted but Unleashed in the East is perfection. It's basically a best of from the 70s but with an added jolt. What those songs needed
Judas Priest are absolute metal legends and I can’t wait for Invincible Shield once it drops this week. My ranking has changed since the last live stream ranking you did on their albums. Here’s how I’d rank them now: S - Stained Class, Screaming for Vengeance, Painkiller, Firepower A - Sad Wings of Destiny, Sin After Sin, Defenders of the Faith, Redeemer of Souls B - Rocka Rolla, Killing Machine/Hell Bent for Leather, British Steel, Ram It Down, Angel of Retribution C - Point of Entry D - Jugulator, Nostradamus F - Turbo, Demolition
To start on a cheery note, I really like Turbo, though I cannot put my finger on why. I just like it. Apart from that I'm on par with most of your ranking. Maybe British Steel one tier higher for me, but I see your point. But for now I am super pumped for Invincible Shield. It's probably my most anticipated metal album for quite some time. And thanks to your review, this has only become more so. Cheers!
A lot of people dump on Point of Entry, and while it's not quite up to British Steel or Screaming for Vengeance standards, I still think it's a good album. Headed Out to the Highway seems like the song's protagonist has reached the point of utter nihilism, while Desert Plains evokes the image of a long night's ride to reunite with a long lost love. Don't Go, Turning Circles and On the Run are for me fun listens too. I think Metal Trenches guy is a bit hard on the album, but to each their own. We all choose our own favorites.
Wow. I stopped following after Defenders and still frequently spin Unleashed in the East but now I’m actually going to listen to Painkiller in its entirety as well as the others you have above Sin after Sin. Thanks for this. BTW, I consider myself a huge Priest fan but got stuck in decade 1.
Damn, I think "Jugulator" is one of the best albums from them. At least when Rob returned, Priest did not recorded something even close good to "Jugulator". Maybe "Firepower" will grow on me.
I agree with your perfection tier. Spot on. I do not have a "fun bad" tier though. If it's bad, there's nothing fun about it. Perfection: Screaming for Vengeance, Painkiller, Defenders of the Faith Fantastic: British Steel, Stained Class, Invincible Shield Great: Firepower, Hell Bent for Leather, Sad Wings of Destiny Good: Sin After Sin, Redeemer of Souls, Angel of Retribution, Jugulator Okay: Ram it Down, Rocka Rolla, Demolition Boring Bad: Nostradamus, Turbo, Point of Entry
I'm definitely a fan of your work, but consider my jimmies rustled on some of your takes here. I won't drone on and one about every little nitpick I have, as I can respect your opinion and I know you put in the work. The only thing I will comment on is that I think you're unfairly overlooking some of their 70s albums. That four album run from Sad Wings through Hell Bent for Leather is PIVOTAL in the development of Metal, and IMO is the band's all-time best run. It takes some time to stew, I will grant you, but I urge you to revisit those albums. They're very rewarding on repeat listens. In any case, keep up the good work!
I agree that those albums are IMPORTANT, but that's not the criteria I rank things on. It all comes down to how much I subjectively enjoy them from start to finish.
@@MetalTrenches Fair! And I understand that you probably like stuff that's a bit more aggressive. If that's the case, as an amalgam and upgrade of a lot of that early material, I would highly recommend Unleashed in the East, if you've not checked it out. It's probably my single favourite record of all-time. It takes a lot of that early material and injects more 5x more energy into it, and actually sounds better on the production front that those albums (especially when it comes to the Sad Wings tracks). The prevailing message here though should be that I think you're doing a great job with your channel. I'm slowly working up the courage to start doing something of my own on youtube and you're definitely one of my inspirations on that front. You rule!
I've listened to Invinsible Shield twice so far in its entirity and I have heard the songs released early several more times. It's too new for me to rank, but I am loving it so far! It easily beats the last two albums. I'll have a better feel for where to place it after around 10 listens. Here is how I rank the other albums. I love stuff off even the lower ones, though I've never gotten into the Ripper albums. 1. Screaming for Vengeance 2. Stained Class 3. Sad Wings of Destiny 4. Painkiller 5. Defenders of the Faith 6. British Steel 7. Hell Bent for Leather 8. Sin After Sin 9. Nostradamus 10. Angel of Retribution 11. Point of Entry 12. Firepower 13. Turbo 14. Rocka Rolla 15. Redeemer of Souls 16. Ram it Down 17 /18. Demolition/ Jugulator
Awesome video! We disagree on a good portion of the catalog but hearing different opinions is what makes it fun. My personal perfections would be British Steel, Defenders of the Faith, and Angel of Retribution. Spiciest take is I would put Screaming for Vengeance in okay tier. Also listened to Darkest Hour Deliver us and undoing ruin thanks for the suggestion fantastic albums
I like Screaming for Vengeance more than you do, but one thing I will say is the album is front loaded. Couple of excellent tracks on side 2 , but side 1 is stronger.
@@loganwhitehorse nah, there’s not a weak moment on that album. It is legitimately one of the best metal albums ever recorded. It’s the lean stripped back and approach that they hit so well with British Steel without a weird dud like the soccer anthem United.
@@Cwin-ny6bp Nah, buddy. Fever, Take These Chains, Pain and Pleasure are not terrific songs. It's a really good album, don't get me wrong. But it came out the same year as The Number of the Beast which is just a better album in every way.
I'm glad to see Redeemer Of Souls get some love. It was like a rough draft for the awesomeness that is Firepower. And IMO JP's true "get back on track" album.
Damn. The intro didn’t lie. Now it’s my turn. Best - Painkiller/Firepower/Invincible Shield/Screaming For Vengeance Awesome - Stained Class/Sad Wings Of Destiny/Jugulator (I’ll debate you all day on this)/Redeemer Of Souls Great - Angel Of Retribution/Sin After Sin/Ram It Down Good (but troubled) - Defenders Of The Faith/Killing Machine/British Steel/Nostradamus Weak - Point Of Entry/Demolition Worst - Turbo/Rocka Rolla
I think something not enough fans realize when it comes to what has helped a band like Judas Priest grow as a band in their latter years is their attention, at least Rob particularly pays, to other bands and subgenres of metal that have sprouted up since Judas Priest began. Not that you’d ever hear a true death, black, or nu metal sound to their music, Rob specifically has cited bands like Behemoth, KoRn, and Emperor as influences on his music taste and in some ways inspirations when it comes to writing and recording material. He understands and respects the landscape of the metal genre and how versatile it truly is, something so many legacy acts absolutely refuse to do and falter creatively because of.
I've been listening to Invincible Shield for the last 4 days now and it is easily my favorite album of the year so far. I would have put it it the very top tier. Great List
Speaking of Painkiller. I always wanted to ask you - did you ever considering ranking video games's metal OST like Painkiller, Infernal (some one even remember this game?), Dusk, Doom, Slain/Valfaris, etc?
I think the only descending opinion I came away with here was Sad Wings of Destiny, I personally would put it at great tier at least. Other than that, I agree with your ranking for the Priest albums and now am super excited for the entire Invincible Shield album. I saw a 4-song EP of the singles released (probably not legit but at any rate) and listened to it a couple of times so I'm ready for the entire thing! Interesting you mentioned Sabaton during your thoughts on Nostradamus, since they're having said band open for them this spring. Can't wait for the show in Youngstown! Also, and I can't stress and emphasis this part of it enough, but at 72 it is truly incredible how great Rob sounds. He puts vocalists in the genre (or therefore adjacent ones) half of his age to SHAME!
PERFECTION: Sad Wings - Stained Class FANTASTIC: Sin After Sin - British Steel - Defenders - Painkiller GREAT: Screaming For Vengeance -Angel Of Retribution GOOD: Killing Machine - Rocka Rolla - Invincible Shield - Point of Entry OKAY: Firepower - Redeemer of Souls - Ram it Down .... The others...
1. Screaming for Vengeance 2. Defenders of the Faith 3. Painkiller 4. Stained Class 5. Hell Bent for Leather 6. Sad Wings of Destiny 7. British Steel 8. Nostradamus 9. Angel of Retribution 10. Sin after Sin 11. Redeemer of Souls 12. Fire Power 13. Invincible Shield 14. Ram it Down 15. Point of Entry 16. Turbo 17. Rocka-Rolla 18. Jugulator 19. Demolition
Agree but it's kind of apples and oranges. Maiden is epic, Priest is gritty. I like the variety in Priest's catalog, with some hard rock and doom to balance out the metal bits. Maiden's first 7 album run is unreal, but after that it gets a little bit boring.
@@loganwhitehorse Of Maiden, I actually prefer Paul DiAnno over Bruce, but of course I do appreciate Bruce as a huge influence on heavy metal vocalists the world over.
Great list trenches (except for Nostradamus how dare you) I really enjoyed invincible shield front to back listening on a drive home today, then immediately went to bionic records in Buena Park and purchased the LP. I loved how they took all the different colors they’ve done over the years with synths, 2&4 driving rock, a bit of early speed sound, and an overall great range of dynamics from track to track. Giants in the sky left me feeling super reverent in a sense considering what the lyrics are about. Ritchie really has brought some fire to this band. All respect to KK, but I’d argue with the past 2.5 records Ritchie Faulkner has really cemented his colossus into this band’s legacy. And most importantly I’m very glad that Glenn was able to throw down his guitar work. Grateful that they are putting out such amazing music
Good list there are deffinutely some placements i dissagre with (mostly their 70s output)but i still respect your oppinion and I understand your reassons and im happy that you got to rank one of my fav bands of all time. Also top 5 for me are: 1.Painkiller 2.Stained Class 3.Sad Wings Of Destiny 4.Sin fter Sin 5.Deffenders Of The Faith(i could switch this one with Screaming tho.)
I think 'Screaming for Vengeance' is rated one category too high here for me but a fun thing about rating Judas Priest albums is that every level of rating category-level gets represented eventually!
This has been my ranking for a bit. Haven't heard the new one yet, but not loving the first 3 tunes released. 18). Demolition 17). RockaRolla 16). Nostradamus 15). Jugulator 14). Point of Entry 13). Ram it Down 12). Turbo 11). Angel of Retribution 10). Redeemer of Souls 9). Sin after Sin 8). Firepower 7). Killing Machine 6). Screaming for Vengeance 5). Sad Wings 4). Painkiller 3). Stained Class 2). British Steel 1). Defenders
Your point of Firepower vs recent Metallica is spot on. As was your remark about recent Maiden. I love the first six Maiden albums, but i feel they've been overrated as fuck since. It baffles me that Maiden is the bigger band worldwide. Priest has been here longer, has more well known 'hits'(or at least classic rock/metal staples), have at least as many albums considered classics. JP may have a couple more flat out turds, maiden have less F's, but more boring chores. The Blaze and Ripper eras equally sucked. I dunno, at worst they should be in a head heat.
The a-side of Defenders of the faith is the best thing Judas Priest has done! People can disagree, but they should know that they're wrong if they do :)
Whiffed on Sad Wings, bro. That having been said, you nailed it on Screaming for Vengeance. That is literally one of the most flawless metal albums ever released and is the best thing they ever made. If you asked for and album to distill and define classic heavy metal, that album, along with Number or the Beast and Powerslave would be my top picks.
@@MetalTrenchesman, I even edited my comment to give you credit, but you insult me. I just think putting Sad Wings on the same tier as Rocka Rolla isn’t great.
@@MetalTrenches it’s all good. You had replied by the time I refreshed, and I made the original comment while I was watching and I made the edit as it went along, as I found myself agreeing with you on most of the critical stuff. I did consider making a post as a joke about how you hurt my feelings 😂
I probably would put Turbo higher, just out of nostalgia, probably. I love Jugulator just for Cathedral Spires. All things said, I'd personally have placed Defenders first and Screaming third. But overall, I think you did a fantastic job on ranking Priest's albums. Always respect your opinions.
Invincible is getting crazy ratings after less than a week out.. It's a good album, but in the top of the Judas Priest albums? I don't think it'll last up there for most people. Again, i think it's a good album.. i just think people are too excited and ranking it way too high :)
While I would probably move them around a bit, I agree to the Top 6 albums, which are also the only 6 I need in my collection. 6 amazing albums... Stained Class will probably always hold that "special place" for me when it comes to Priest.
I actually agree the Nostradamus was pretty underrated. While I think it suffers from the same bloat problems as latter day Metallica and Iron Maiden, it also has a lot of strong material. I’d actually say you nailed most of this one other than my disagreement with Sad Wings. I might switch Defenders of the Faith with Firepower. That album is legitimately so good.
Just saying here, i got a bit offended with your feeling about British Steel... No problem to rank it there, but me honestly think that this album deserved atleast an fantastic 🥺 Thought i enjoyed any other pick, mainly Screaming Vengeance, that album is total perfection!
With so many albums, there's always gonna be lots of variations in peoples rankings, very excited for the new album. Here's how i rank them. 18. Demolition - 1.5/5 17. Nostradamus -1.5/5 16. Rocka Rolla - 2.5/5 15. Redeemer of Souls- 2.5/5 14. Point of Entry - 2.5/5 13. Jugulator - 3/5 12. Killing Machine - 3/5 11. Ram it Down - 3.5/5 10. Angel of Retribution- 3.5/5 9. Firepower - 3.5/5 8. British Steel - 3.5/5 7. Turbo - 4/5 6. Screaming for Vengeance - 4/5 5. Sad Wings of Destiny - 4/5 4. Painkiller - 4.5/5 3. Defenders of the Faith - 4.5/5 2. Stained Class - 4.5/5 1. Sin After Sin - 4.5/5
Always knew Defenders was their best record, thanks for confirming. Beat the shit out of that tape in my jambox in the driveway hacky sackin after Jr. High in the 80's. Who was that kid? What happened to my country? It's so much later than i thought. Sigh...
Though I do like and respect what Iron Maiden has transitioned into, what Judas Priest is still doing 50 years into their careers just doesnt make sense to me. Like how is Rob able to sing like this still? How are they dropping some of their best material of their career? We are literally witnessing living legends. What a treat. Rob truly is a god.
@DrDanka69 Agree. Richie Faulkner has reinvigorated Priest. A perfect fit and the guitarist they needed to be where they're are now. Just like Erik Rutan with Corpse.
Screaming for Vengeance is the perfect blend of their classic soind and 1980s cheesy metal. It sounds 1980s nostalgia but in a good way like GTA Vice City radio.
My ranking I would do these changes: Firepower - Perfection Sad Wings of Destiny - Great British Steel - Fantastic Reedemer of Souls - Good Killing Machines - Good Turbo - Okay Nostradamus - Okay Rocka Rolla - Okay Ram It Dawn - Fun Bad
20th century Only 1. Stained Class 2. Sad Wings of Destiny 3. Screaming For Vengeance 4. Defenders of the Faith 5. Painkiller 6. Rocka Rolla 7. Sin After Sin 8. Turbo 9. Killing Machine 10. British Steel 11. Point of Entry 12. Ram it Down 21st century 1. Invincible Shield 2. Firepower 3. Angel of Retribution 4. Nostradamus Still need to listen to the first Faulkner album Stained Class and Sad Wings are from a very special and brief moment in time of exploration into unknown poetic dark territory during an era of greatness in all genres. Nothing will take that away from us
Killing Machine and Angel of Retribution being so low surprised me. Nostradamus and Rock a Rolla being as high as they are also surprising. Opposite for me. Firepower is amazing, but Invincible Shield edges it out for me. Screaming for Vengeance 🤘
Point of entry has really great songs. Heading out to the highway, desert plains, hot rocking, turning circles, on the run, solar angels, don’t go. And sin after sin and sad wings are another stratosphere level to Rocka Rolla, though I quite like that album as well
1. Screaming for vengeance 2. Defenders of the faith 3. Stained class 4. Painkiller 5. Sin after sin 6. British still 7. Sad wings of destiny 8. Turbo 9. Firepower 10. Invincible shield 11. Killing machine 12. Ram it down 13. Nostradamus 14. Angel of distribution 15. Redeemer of souls 16. Point of entry 17. Rocka rolla 18. Jegulator 19. Demolition
It's just a matter of where you came in with Priest. (Might have heard Breaking the law first, I'm not even sure if I did at that point. Sin after Sin was my first Priest album). Of course your ranking might be a bit controversial and there are a couple with which I agree and a couple with which I strongly disagree. Haven't heard Invincible Shield yet but the reviews and singles sound very promising. Firepower had a couple instant bangers but with just under an hour it was still a bit long... 2-3 songs less would have bumped it up even higher Perfection: Sad Wings of Destiny (my favourite album), Stained Class, Screaming for Vengeance, Painkiller Fantastic: Killing Machine, Sin after Sin, Defenders of the Faith (last third brings it down a notch for me) Great: Turbo, British steel, Firepower Good: Redeemer of Souls, Point of Entry (Couple of duds on both but the songs I like I really like) Okay: Angel of Retribution, Nostradamus, Rocka Rolla Fun Bad: Ram it down (Don't know where else to put it - half of it I really like and half of it I can't stand) Boring Bad: Jugulator, Demolition (Although Cathedral Spires is alright. But Demolition... more like DeNOlition)
I'd rank the albums before Rob's departure quite differently, bu starting from Jugulator I completely agree (except Shield that I haven't heard yet, but I'm hyped with all the singles). Despite that very different opinion, I had to give you thumbs up for that comparison with Iron Maiden (man I'd like them to release anything close to Firepower) and Metallica comment. The only thing I missed - is Shield better than Firepower?
I’m aware of Judas Priest and I’ve heard the singles but I’ve never sat down and listened to them. Is there a particular album you’d recommend to start with?
Great video, i actually agree with almost every ranking. And i know i’m in the extreme minority here, but totally love the Turbo and Nostrodamus albums.
I still love the song Bloodsuckers off Demolition , I cant help it I just do . I liked a bunch of Angel of Retribution too . And of course I love several albums before these like Screaming for Vengeance and such , but that should go without saying . Firepower is cool too . I havnt heard all of the new one yet but what I heard I wasn't big on .
9:07 just a note, it lost to Metallica's cover of Queen's "Stone Cold Crazy". Still BS, as the other nominations besides Priest were Suicidal Tendencies 'Lights Camera Revolution' album, Anthrax 'Persistence of Time' album and Megadeth 'Rust in Peace' album. It was overall complete bullshit that a cover song won out for best metal performance over 4 absolutely fantastic metal albums.
S - Screaming for Vengeance, Painkiller, Firepower, Invincible Shield A - Defenders of the Faith, British Steel, Killing Machine, Redeemer of Souls (Although the production almost takes this down a tier) B - Turbo, Sad Wings of Destiny, Angel of Retribution C - Stained Class (I feel this is overrated), Sin After Sin, Ram It Down D - Jugulator, Nostradamus E - Demolition, Rocka Rolla, Point of Entry
The Revolution riff is not a copy paste from Jane’s Addiction. The opening bassline is actually from an Ian Hill demo from the 70s and they rebuilt the riff around that. Great minds think alike, more likely a coincidence that Jane’s Addiction wrote the same riff 30 years after Ian Hill did
Haha, I'm team priest and have been saying their post reunion out put is > Maidens. Looks like Trenches agrees. But sad Wings and Killing Machine at mid. I'll be honest that stung. Also high praise for Nostradamas, my least like post reunion album. Its just not what i want from a priest album. So pumped to pick up my vinyl copy of Invincible Shield next week
I must be the only person alive who actually likes Point of Entry. I've tried now for decades to Listen to Rock A Rolla and just can't. Nothing like Sabbath sounds more like John Mayall on steroids. Hell Bent For Leather I would rank higher. Rest of the list for me is pretty spot on.
How Rob is still able to sound this incredible into his 70s blows my mind. Especially since listening to Bruce Dickinsons new album where he could barely sing now. Great tier list and vid though. I hate Nostradamus for how bloated it is for me but I definitely understand why some people would like it. But yeah my hot take is that turbo and jugulator make the fantastic tier for me.
Rob is the metal god, but they are definitely doing some electronic wizardry in the studio with his voice. He doesn't sound like that live at this point. It's no disrespect, he's my favorite metal singer of all time. Just a fact of life.
I gotta say I'm mostly in agreement with these rankings! Although personally I'd move Sad Wings, Sin After Sin & Killing Machine up to great, move Screaming for Vengenance down to fantastic and Defenders down to great. Defenders is awesome up to a certain point but for me at least the album runs out of steam after Eat Me Alive. Painkiller is the only perfect Priest album in my opinion and it's generally just one of my favourite albums ever! I have to give Nostradamus a re-listen too. I haven't listened to that album all the way through in years but I seem to remember thinking it was a good idea/concept just poorly executed! I sometimes wish they explored that sound more after that album. I guess now I gotta check out your Maiden ranking video, Maiden are my favourite band and if that intro is anything to go by, I'll have my pitchfork on stand by just in case! 😂
Cool to see Nostradamus get some love. Not one of my favorites as it's a bit bloated, but the best stuff is pretty good. I'll always go to bat for Angel of Retribution and Turbo.
Id just interchange Nostradamus with Sin after Sin, and put Sad Wings Higher than Nostradamus. I just fucking love Dissident Agressor(good Slayer cover)

Firepower is a perfection ranking; I will take no arguments. Hooks for days, riffy as hell, and Rob sounds phenomenal.

It's one of the best examples of a late career classic I can think of
Firepower caught the magic of the likes of Screaming for Vengeance, Painkiller, and Defenders of the Faith, and Rob just wailing like that at 70 was unbelievable. He hasn’t lost a step.

I disagree with a lot of this ranking, but also strongly agree with some at the same time. I can’t wait to listen to Invincible Shield
Crazy how Judas Priest are still kickin' over FIVE DECADES of a career \m/
Painkiller is my #1 traditional metal songs ever
Wow. I stopped following after Defenders and still frequently spin Unleashed in the East but now I’m actually going to listen to Painkiller in its entirety as well as the others you have above Sin after Sin. Thanks for this. BTW, I consider myself a huge Priest fan but got stuck in decade 1.
Excellent list! I swear your videos just make me want to revisit albums
Then I've done my job
Totally hyped for the new album
Damn, I think "Jugulator" is one of the best albums from them. At least when Rob returned, Priest did not recorded something even close good to "Jugulator". Maybe "Firepower" will grow on me.
I'd call it "heavy" but not "good."
I agree with your perfection tier. Spot on. I do not have a "fun bad" tier though. If it's bad, there's nothing fun about it.
Perfection: Screaming for Vengeance, Painkiller, Defenders of the Faith
Fantastic: British Steel, Stained Class, Invincible Shield
Great: Firepower, Hell Bent for Leather, Sad Wings of Destiny
Good: Sin After Sin, Redeemer of Souls, Angel of Retribution, Jugulator
Okay: Ram it Down, Rocka Rolla, Demolition
Boring Bad: Nostradamus, Turbo, Point of Entry
now we need a judas priest and iron maiden stadium tour
I wasn't excited for the new album at all when I heard about it, but after this video I'm quite pumped for it now
Priest’s most recent album was so good that I had reasonably high expectations.
@@Cwin-ny6bpand the singles only support that
The Tipper Gore PMRC clip really took me back. Kudos to you, sir.
1. Screaming for Vengeance
2. Stained Class
3. Sad Wings of Destiny
4. Painkiller
5. Defenders of the Faith
6. British Steel
7. Hell Bent for Leather
8. Sin After Sin
9. Nostradamus
10. Angel of Retribution
11. Point of Entry
12. Firepower
13. Turbo
14. Rocka Rolla
15. Redeemer of Souls
16. Ram it Down
British Steel has a couple weird duds on it. Screaming for Vengeance is like an even better version of British Steel without the duds.
@@loganwhitehorse Take These Chains is a great song, and the other two are good too. You’re way off on Screaming for Vengeance.
I'm glad to see Redeemer Of Souls get some love. It was like a rough draft for the awesomeness that is Firepower. And IMO JP's true "get back on track" album.
Damn. The intro didn’t lie. Now it’s my turn.
Best - Painkiller/Firepower/Invincible Shield/Screaming For Vengeance
Awesome - Stained Class/Sad Wings Of Destiny/Jugulator (I’ll debate you all day on this)/Redeemer Of Souls
Great - Angel Of Retribution/Sin After Sin/Ram It Down
Good (but troubled) - Defenders Of The Faith/Killing Machine/British Steel/Nostradamus
Weak - Point Of Entry/Demolition
Worst - Turbo/Rocka Rolla
Great List
Can’t wait to check it out!
What a year for classic metal, thus far! A new album from Judas Priest and a brand new Bruce Dickinson album. Will you be reviewing the latter soon?
Defenders is my fav Priest album. Pretty good list my dude!
Speaking of Painkiller. I always wanted to ask you - did you ever considering ranking video games's metal OST like Painkiller, Infernal (some one even remember this game?), Dusk, Doom, Slain/Valfaris, etc?
I've done some videogame related content in the past and it bombed, so odds are low
it's a pity
Rob is crazy for still sounding this good.
PERFECTION: Sad Wings - Stained Class
FANTASTIC: Sin After Sin - British Steel - Defenders - Painkiller
GREAT: Screaming For Vengeance -Angel Of Retribution
GOOD: Killing Machine - Rocka Rolla - Invincible Shield - Point of Entry
OKAY: Firepower - Redeemer of Souls - Ram it Down
.... The others...
Screaming, Defenders, Killing Machine, Painkiller... My top four:)
Mine too, Painkiller being no1, followed by DOTF, KM and then SFV.
1. Screaming for Vengeance
2. Defenders of the Faith
3. Painkiller
4. Stained Class
5. Hell Bent for Leather
6. Sad Wings of Destiny
7. British Steel
8. Nostradamus
9. Angel of Retribution
10. Sin after Sin
11. Redeemer of Souls
12. Fire Power
13. Invincible Shield
14. Ram it Down
15. Point of Entry
16. Turbo
17. Rocka-Rolla
18. Jugulator
19. Demolition
I can't wait for the new album! I prefer Priest over Maiden.
For me they are joint first favourites. I've never been able to to say who is better. They compliment each other so well.
Agree but it's kind of apples and oranges. Maiden is epic, Priest is gritty. I like the variety in Priest's catalog, with some hard rock and doom to balance out the metal bits. Maiden's first 7 album run is unreal, but after that it gets a little bit boring.
Me too
@@loganwhitehorse Of Maiden, I actually prefer Paul DiAnno over Bruce, but of course I do appreciate Bruce as a huge influence on heavy metal vocalists the world over.
@@wheelsofmercury Di'Anno was great. Just think how different Maiden would have been if he stayed in the band.
Great list trenches (except for Nostradamus how dare you)
I really enjoyed invincible shield front to back listening on a drive home today, then immediately went to bionic records in Buena Park and purchased the LP.
Also top 5 for me are:
1.Painkiller
2.Stained Class
3.Sad Wings Of Destiny
4.Sin fter Sin
5.Deffenders Of The Faith(i could switch this one with Screaming tho.)
I think 'Screaming for Vengeance' is rated one category too high here for me but a fun thing about rating Judas Priest albums is that every level of rating category-level gets represented eventually!
This has been my ranking for a bit. Haven't heard the new one yet, but not loving the first 3 tunes released.
18). Demolition
17). RockaRolla
16). Nostradamus
15). Jugulator
14). Point of Entry
13). Ram it Down
12). Turbo
11). Angel of Retribution
10). Redeemer of Souls
9). Sin after Sin
8). Firepower
7). Killing Machine
6). Screaming for Vengeance
5). Sad Wings
4). Painkiller
3). Stained Class
2). British Steel
Need this? 🍼👶
@@MetalTrenchesman, I even edited my comment to give you credit, but you insult me. I just think putting Sad Wings on the same tier as Rocka Rolla isn’t great.
@@MetalTrenchesI mean, overall this is a pretty good list. I just strongly disagree with that one.
@@Cwin-ny6bp apologies. I think I replied before you edited it
@@MetalTrenches it’s all good.
Judas Rising on Angel of Retribution is hell of a opener and a banger.
Sad Wings is one of the best albums EVER!
No problem to rank it there, but me honestly think that this album deserved atleast an fantastic 🥺
Thought i enjoyed any other pick, mainly Screaming Vengeance, that album is total perfection!
Firepower is my number one Heavy Metal Album and my Favourite Judas Priest Album.
Sad wings shuld be higher for sure
Uh... yea.
Sad Wings should rank higher for Genocide alone.
Yeah on the same rank as the debute is wild 😅
@@wesleybush8646 The Ripper is like their best song ever.

Black Craft clothing. It's Lilith.

Sin After Sin fuckin' rules... CALL FOR THE PRIEST... I'M DYYYYYINNNNGGGGGG!!!
I was shocked by how down you are on Angel of Retribution. It's one of my favorite albums!
Jugulator is honestly not bad
Always knew Defenders was their best record, thanks for confirming. Beat the shit out of that tape in my jambox in the driveway hacky sackin after Jr. High in the 80's. Who was that kid? What happened to my country? It's so much later than i thought. Sigh...
Though I do like and respect what Iron Maiden has transitioned into, what Judas Priest is still doing 50 years into their careers just doesnt make sense to me. Like how is Rob able to sing like this still? How are they dropping some of their best material of their career? We are literally witnessing living legends. What a treat. Rob truly is a god.
Because they got a younger more hungry guitar player who lit a spark for them. At least my thought
@DrDanka69 Agree. Richie Faulkner has reinvigorated Priest. A perfect fit and the guitarist they needed to be where they're are now. Just like Erik Rutan with Corpse.
@@DrDanka69 that definitely makes sense.
Agreed, Screaming/ Defenders are absolute metal perfection. But I loved Turdo!
Screaming for Vengeance is the perfect blend of their classic soind and 1980s cheesy metal.
It sounds 1980s nostalgia but in a good way like GTA Vice City radio.
My ranking I would do these changes:
Firepower - Perfection
Sad Wings of Destiny - Great
British Steel - Fantastic

Stained Class and Sad Wings are from a very special and brief moment in time of exploration into unknown poetic dark territory during an era of greatness in all genres.
And sin after sin and sad wings are another stratosphere level to Rocka Rolla, though I quite like that album as well
1. Screaming for vengeance

2-3 songs less would have bumped it up even higher
Perfection: Sad Wings of Destiny (my favourite album), Stained Class, Screaming for Vengeance,
Painkiller
Fantastic: Killing Machine, Sin after Sin, Defenders of the Faith (last third brings it down a notch for me)
Great: Turbo, British steel, Firepower
Good: Redeemer of Souls, Point of Entry (Couple of duds on both but the songs I like I really like)
Okay: Angel of Retribution, Nostradamus, Rocka Rolla
Fun Bad: Ram it down (Don't know where else to put it - half of it I really like and half of it I can't stand)
Boring Bad: Jugulator, Demolition (Although Cathedral Spires is alright. But Demolition... more like DeNOlition)
10:43 That sticker should've said "SNOWFLAKE ADVISORY"!
Turbo is awesome 👌 really enjoyed this video even though I would drop Firepower to good and bump Invincible Shield to perfection. The Lodger seals it.
I’m aware of Judas Priest and I’ve heard the singles but I’ve never sat down and listened to them. Is there a particular album you’d recommend to start with?
The top ones I listed
Great video, i actually agree with almost every ranking. And i know i’m in the extreme minority here, but totally love the Turbo and Nostrodamus albums.
I still love the song Bloodsuckers off Demolition , I cant help it I just do . I liked a bunch of Angel of Retribution too . And of course I love several albums before these like Screaming for Vengeance and such , but that should go without saying . Firepower is cool too . I havnt heard all of the new one yet but what I heard I wasn't big on .
I have a soft spot for angel of retribution. Hyped for the new one!
S - Screaming for Vengeance, Painkiller, Firepower, Invincible Shield
A - Defenders of the Faith, British Steel, Killing Machine, Redeemer of Souls (Although the production almost takes this down a tier)
B - Turbo, Sad Wings of Destiny, Angel of Retribution
C - Stained Class (I feel this is overrated), Sin After Sin, Ram It Down
D - Jugulator, Nostradamus
E - Demolition, Rocka Rolla, Point of Entry
I mean I didn’t say they were “mid.” I just don’t like them as much as the higher stuff
You're not alone. Heading Out to the Highway and Desert Plains are killer songs.
You're definitely not the only person who likes Point of entry. What I love about Priest is that each of their albums sounds great in it's own way.
"Fun bad" is a catagory only reserved for Judas Priest! It's like bad but still good the only way to describe those 2 albums lol ;D \M/
Good list the only thing I disagree with is hell bent for leather it should be at the very least great tier
Judas priest =heavy metal and heavy metal=judas priest. Nothing else. 🇬🇷🤘
Nice to see Nostradamus not getting completely destroyed - Point of Entry, Angel of Retribution and Killing Machine would all be a lot higher for me
I need to hear more the new material, but at this point i think Firepower is a little better, wich is no problem at all. Judas is on a great moment.
I will stand by Juggulator, that album is HAARRDDD!!!
Defenders of the faith is my fav such a gem
Cool to see Nostradamus get some love. Not one of my favorites as it's a bit bloated, but the best stuff is pretty good.
I'll always go to bat for Angel of Retribution and Turbo.
Id just interchange Nostradamus with Sin after Sin, and put Sad Wings Higher than Nostradamus. I just fucking love Dissident Agressor(good Slayer cover)
