I use 1 part borax powder to 2 parts granulated sugar. If you leave it in dry form the ants will carry the granules into their mound so the next generation will also feed on it. No need to add water. And this is very effective.

I do the same thing, I make a runny past and dip cotton balls into the solution. Seems to work for me.

Be careful with this fix as it also kills bees, the entire hive.
Pollination is so important that even one less hive in an area could cut pollination/food production by high percentages.
Just my observation and experiences of using this "fix".
It will indeed kill ants too but I use white vinegar instead and that seems to work well at least on the ants in my gardens and the bees aren't bothered by the vinegar.

THE LEMON PLEDGE SECRET placed in a light coating inside along ant pathways the ants travel has stopped ants altogether. When I learned that ants use scent travel paths, on a whim I tried the Lemon Pledge and it works. I also put it under the stove as our stove has legs as well as the toe kick at the bottom of the kitchen cabinets. I only wipe up where human steps are so it's not slippery. Also, I use the Borax (Terro is the hardware store version retail product) which works well if put about the outside perimeter of the house next to both side of doorways and every 20 feet. I put a fresh batch down at the early part of spring (Terro has plastic housed product and I stake these in place with a 8" stake made from a metal closet hanger). We have a dry laid bluestone patio so when we see ants popping up between cracks, we use the Terro immediately a few inches away from the entry point on both sides and this kills off the nest in a couple days.

I hot glue a flat stone to a small saucer and flipped a terracotta saucer and hot glued it on top of the stone. Ants got in but my pup and cat couldn’t. Now if I could just find something to rid me of those pesky mosquitoes and roly polys 😞

@jmpowell654, actually, 'rolly polys' are actually a good bug. They clean up heavy metals! And are a sign that your soil is contaminated.

How do you control earwigs? We have very wet summer and earwigs destroy my flowers.

You can use ground cinnamon also and it's not harmful to pets or children

I don’t know about that. I tried cinnamon in my garden and it did nothing but make it smell Christmasy for a few days until it rained. Reapplied it several times and saw no decrease in ants or any other bug.

Without as many bees around nowadays I found that not killing the ants in my garden has increased my harvest... but I use this method to kill the six-legged🐜 SOB's that come in house😂

What about borax powder going to be interfered by the plants? Will it be hurting us when we eat it? I wait for an answer I wait for an answer

Boric acid is better than borax. It won’t hurt the veg or you. You can use boric acid solution on your eyes if you have infected eyes. If fact it has many medicinal uses for the body.
