1 liter of water, 1 tsp of baking soda, 1 tsp Castile soap, 2 tsp of vegetable oil
🙂
Thank you for writing down the “recipe.” ❤️👍
is there any other soaps you can use ??
Can we use natural wash up liquid for dishes?
@@NaginaeHayat yes!
My father was an organic farmer back in the 60's on a 7 acre farm in the burbs in NJ . Which people came from all around to get veggies and we even had Restaruants buy from us . Bug control was our chickens . Fertilizer was always aged manure and water came from rain barrels that we put bags in to make manure tea to spray in the gardens .We did the picking and planting and in the winter mom and I would make seed pots from newspapers Our equipment was wheelbarrows and rototillers and our hands and backs
You received fantastic lessons from your parents.
Oh do I relate!!
It still is my way of life here in a small village somewhere in the outskirts of Nairobi!! Very satisfying.
What happens to the farm??
@@pajcka Unfortunately nowadays those type of lessons are being taught or passed down to the future residents of this country due to bad policies from people with authorities. That decision will have catastrophic effect for years to come.😕
@@quocjchau I agree. Because people have to eat something, but government don't like people who are independent in that way.

Cant believe the power of baking soda. Cleans, cooks, grease fire fighter, and now pesticide control
Pretty great product with so many uses!
Try sprinkling some cinnamon on the surface of the soil. I have and found that it works amazingly well. My tomatoes are in full midst of production. My strawberries are in full bloom. I have used cinnamon for the first time. Experiment with one plant and see the results...get ready to become a "believer". No pests of any kind. No fungus gnats or whiteflies. My what a relief it is!
Can't hurt to try James! :-)
How much cinnamon did use for m2?
@@landofeagle1023 lightly sprinkle on top of soil around each plant. Lasts a month or so then repeat..
Wow! Thank you so much... My dad passed away and I am here taking care of the garden and trees and have no experience. So thank you, Shasta

It never fails to amaze me when I find yet another use for Bi-carb. Thanks again.
Right? It really does some amazing stuff around the house!
Ants are trying to tell you that the soil around you where they nest is too dry, or aphids attack too much nitrogen fed plants, then the ants come in to use them as farmers, or combo of both. Great video btw, thanks.
Green mold was growing on the dirt of an outdoor potted plant so I put a few pinches of baking soda directly on it and that worked
I will do that for my curry leaf plant. We had so much rain all month in april and into may
Every aspect covered in a plainly understandable way, thus very informative and helpful…thank you!

I’ve tried this w/out success, Neem oil works best for me as a spray and also as a systemic application

neem leaves horrible taste if done close to harvest!

@Henry Gonsalves yes it's expensive. A little goes a long way though.
no brands in india sell real neem oil
At first I was thinking you use a lot more than I do. What I do is mix right in the spray bottle. Maybe 1/3 liter. 1 drop dawn dish soap, 1 drop 33% peroxide, 1 splash vinegar, and a dash of baking soda.
So far so good. I'm expecting ripe tomatoes in a week or so.
Thank you!!
Jeff I followed your seed starting mix this year with recommended amenities and everything has germinated and the seedlings are growing great. Thanks your videos. I appreciate it more then you know.
Epic David, glad to hear! What you got growing?
This will be my second year with a big garden, having a small 2x30 garden for years before. I’m growing a lot, trying onions from seeds for the first time, 3 types of kale (red Russia from you), lots of lettuce, beets, carrots, 3 types of cabbages, 2 types of broccoli, 4 types of peppers, and 16 types of tomatoes just germinated. Just a tip for anyone who does this, find out the perfect time on your garden to spray this. Spray during evening so that your plants have time to absorb it. Also do not overspray, if you do it will cause the leaves to slightly burn, don’t be alarmed it’s not terrible, but just avoid it. Also, this spray does work!!
Hi there! Does it work against flea beetle? I got an infestation.
Will it work for yard ants? They are everywhere...
@@dlspeed1 we use DE (diatomaceous earth) for ants, its organic and you can get 50 pound bags at livestock feed stores way cheaper per pound than the little 5 pounds bags in the fancy organic gardening stores. It's a fine powder, so don't breathe it in and don't let your dogs of cats sniff it as it should not get in the lungs, but it's actually edible. It was once used on a very broad scale to prevent infestation of our grain supply here in the US by placing it directly in the grain (you know, back when the government cared enough to make sure we had at least a 7 year supply on hand in case of emergencies), since then it has fallen out of use, which is sad since its very effective and safe to use. It actually cuts into the bodies of harder bodied pests and cuts open their exoskeletons and causes them to dehydrate and die. We place it around the perimeter of the house and directly on plants. Make sure it's going to stay sunny for a couple of days, since once this is wet it's not effective. Hope this helps :) God bless!
Does it work to kill aunts, too? my potato plant is destroyed by a bunch of aunts/insects!! Any suggestion to get rid of it? Pls help! Thanks!😊
@@deehope9477 DE (diatomaceous earth) does kill ants. it causes cuts to their exoskeletons and they dehydrate and die, we use this a few times each year to keep ants out of the house and garden as needed

OK, so we established three things (well, maybe four). (1) You know the chemistry and the gardening. (2) Yes, you are a true Canadian, as proven by the baking soda box ...in English et en français (and only a Canadian would be gardening with a tuque on his head). (3) You also have a green baseball cap ...and, wait a minute, what was the fourth thing ...oh, yes, I remember (4) Great tip. Thanks ! :)

Thanks and I'm giving it a try on one citrus tree with curly leaf.
I haven't been able to get any castile soap so will use washing up detergent.

For fungus on zucchini row milk is also supposed to work if delegated in water by 1/10.
Hello from the other end of Canada, PEI. Thank you for your videos
Thank you for sharing Sir
Hi, thanks for a great video, very informative 😊 Could you please tell me how long does this mixture last for or should you use fresh every time?
Hello, I used sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) for a long time to fight powdery mildew and insects, but after reading that the salt it contained was bad for plants, I stopped and I switched to potassium bicarbonate. It has the same effect, and you use it in the same dosage as baking soda.
Very cool Pierre, I'll have to try that!!
As a foliar spray it shouldn't be an issue. The issue is when the salts build up in soil around the roots
You can put cinnamon powder into the soils to kill fungus.
Where do you get potassium bicarbonate?
@Pierre: I went with your suggestion of using potassium bicarbonate....just came in the mail! I also am leery about salt-on-plant spraying. Thank you to both you & The Ripe Tomato Farms for great information and help! :)
Congratulations on having a perfect garden. I have learned a lot from your videos
Hey thanks! Far from perfect, but that's half the fun!
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms Yes, I'm also trying to take care of my garden. Things are not going well. The harsh climate and many pests are causing my plants to not grow well.

Jeff I have an apple tree which was planted last fall. The other two are doing wonderful. They are getting leaves and looking healthy. This one has not one leaf. the branches and the main stalk are alive still. They have color and they bend comfortable. Not dry or brittle. Do you have any ideas what it could be? Do you think it has a fungus or bacteria problem? Will baking soda help?
Your channel is one of my favorites on youtube! I have tried dish soap and water to help against pests, but it never really worked for me. I am going to try your recipe! If you had an affiliate link to the castile soap, I would have used it. This will be a first for me LOL! I've never even heard of castile soap before, but I ordered some just now because I trust what you say! I have an aphid issue on my roses recently, so I hope this will help! Also hoping to do some preventative spraying on my strawberries! Anyway, thanks for the content!
Thanks Ded Head! Hope you can get your pest situations under control! Let us know how it works out! 🙂

Hey Corina, best of luck this year! Let's hope we don't get it at all though! 🙂
I heard that ground cinnamon sprinkled on top of the soil works,
@@jennifercooley3313 hi Jennifer, possibly for soil-borne spores... But ones on the leaves and ones coming from the air would circumvent that.
You can also spray the leaves with a milk and water mix directly.
It works great
I used Dr. Bronner's Hemp-Almond castile soap and pure olive oil with the baking soda. I read somewhere that Almond oil /extract can be used for bug control in your home, so I figured that it would work on our plants as well.
Did it work@?
Makes sense for sure,

Don't use vegetable oil if the temperature is above 80 because the leaves will suffocate and die
Here in Mississippi where we don’t have much cold weather, insects are a constant battle!
I can totally imagine that Stacey.....beneficial insects and organic sprays would be much more important in your climate without that winter kill-off.

I've had powdery mildew all summer and getting ready to plant for fall. How do I treat the soil that is contaminated as well before I plant? I heard you have to wait a few months to plant if we get powdery mildew because the soil is contaminated too.
Would this repell polinators? Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Kelly, yes, as with all insecticides, its not going to discriminate between good and bad insects. That's why you only apply it to hotspot outbreaks..rather than just broadcasting it everywhere. Cheers! 🙂

First off thank you for the nice tip as I am having an outbreak of powdery mildew and also my citrus plants are being attacked by spider mites, so I will use this spray on those plants.
Also can you please guide me if I can make a solution of only water and baking soda and water my plants with it to help strengthen their immunity?
@smultanwala. There's no such thing as strengthening a plant's "immunity". Monitor plants & apply spray when needed. Constant watering with a baking soda mixture will put salt in the soil & eventually harm your plants.
