Baking soda is your last chance go to cancer treatment. If you got it bad and pound the baking soda and water mix stay away from sugar and you have two chances slim and none instead of what the doctor told you none. I could only find one overdose case on baking soda.
Just a tip for anyone who does this, find out the perfect time on your garden to spray this. Spray during evening so that your plants have time to absorb it. Also do not overspray, if you do it will cause the leaves to slightly burn, don’t be alarmed it’s not terrible, but just avoid it. Also, this spray does work!!
@@dlspeed1 we use DE (diatomaceous earth) for ants, its organic and you can get 50 pound bags at livestock feed stores way cheaper per pound than the little 5 pounds bags in the fancy organic gardening stores. It's a fine powder, so don't breathe it in and don't let your dogs of cats sniff it as it should not get in the lungs, but it's actually edible. It was once used on a very broad scale to prevent infestation of our grain supply here in the US by placing it directly in the grain (you know, back when the government cared enough to make sure we had at least a 7 year supply on hand in case of emergencies), since then it has fallen out of use, which is sad since its very effective and safe to use. It actually cuts into the bodies of harder bodied pests and cuts open their exoskeletons and causes them to dehydrate and die. We place it around the perimeter of the house and directly on plants. Hello from NJ. Love your videos, I'll try this one today as I can see my pepper leaves starting to turn. Wish I knew this trick before my beautiful squash was totally eaten and rotten overnight by insects. Love the idea of using natural products.
@denisesmith9618. Try a fabric cover all season long to stop bugs that don't need to be pollinated by insects. You can hand pollinate things like squash with a small soft artists brush, then cover.

First off thank you for the nice tip as I am having an outbreak of powdery mildew and also my citrus plants are being attacked by spider mites, so I will use this spray on those plants. Also can you please guide me if I can make a solution of only water and baking soda and water my plants with it to help strengthen their immunity?
@smultanwala. There's no such thing as strengthening a plant's "immunity". Monitor plants & apply spray when needed. Constant watering with a baking soda mixture will put salt in the soil & eventually harm your plants.
Mix 1 liter water, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon natural soap, 2 teaspoon of vegetable oil. Spray plants twice a month for prevention, every three days to fight off infection.
That was a complete game changer for me . Hey Jeff last year I put in a few raspberries blackberries and blueberries. they did really well. Will you be doing a video on pruning and prep for the new year . I do not know what to do with them. Thanks
Thanks! Yes, definitely more berry videos on the way.....! Pruning of the Blackberries occurs mostly at the end of summer. Blueberry bushes I leave alone completely...only ever removing dead branches. Raspberries get superficially cleaned in the fall, then pruned once new growth starts in the spring and you can see which branches are old.

Will the baking soda foliar spray eliminate powdery mildew entirely? I need something to spray my plants before they get too bad
@@Ziggysdankgenetics it's a control method, for sure... Hard to say whether your entire outbreak will be solved though
@The Ripe Tomato Farms do you have any home made remedy recommendations that I could wipe out the pm with?

Hello from the other end of Canada, PEI. Thank you for your videos
For fungus on zucchini row milk is also supposed to work if delegated in water by 1/10.
My first garden in a clay pit, zone 10a. I had to buy compost and other stuff and I make my own fertilizer and first it worked very well but than the mildew came, the tomato miner fly and the flea beetle and I lost 2 squash and maybe I'll lost some of my tomato plants. I guess the soil which I bought is not the best. I'm working now on the zucchinis they look much better than the squash. I try your recommendation and hope it'll help to control it. Thank you!🌷
Thank you. Well explained. Please do more written instruction so to understand better.
- 1 liter of water
- 1 tea spoon of baking soda
- 1 tea spoon of natural castile soap
- 2 tea spoon of vegetable oil. I recommend canola or neem oil.
:-)
Thank you dear with Love and Gratitude in my Heart. I will definitely try this. God Bless🙏❤️🙏
Jeff I have an apple tree which was planted last fall. The other two are doing wonderful. They are getting leaves and looking healthy. This one has not one leaf. the branches and the main stalk are alive still. They have color and they bend comfortable. Not dry or brittle. Do you have any ideas what it could be? Do you think it has a fungus or bacteria problem? Will baking soda help?
Thank you Jeff really appreciate your gardening tips 🇦🇺🙏
Thanks so much wendy!
Great idea. First timer and so this vedio will help much thank you jeff.
Thanks Robert, best of luck this season! 🙂
Hi, thanks for a great video, very informative 😊 Could you please tell me how long does this mixture last for or should you use fresh every time?
I have that exact toque, my wife got it for me about 10 years ago 😅 you're rocking it!
This was super helpful! Thanks for making this!
Thanks Cheyanne, glad to hear! Hopefully your garden is healthy this year!
This was SO helpful. Every other video I watched talked about sprays that I was not comfortable with. Baking soda for the win 🙌🏽🤎
I have a similar recipe fir my roses but i use potassium bicarb and neem oil along with the soap. But will try the veggie oil on my veggies since pure neem is so strong.
Here in Mississippi where we don’t have much cold weather, insects are a constant battle!
I can totally imagine that Stacey.....beneficial insects and organic sprays would be much more important in your climate without that winter kill-off.
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms I’ve only done organic and plan to keep it that way! Neem, companion planting, and staying vigilant do pretty well but I’m excited to try the baking soda spray this growing season.
@@StaceyUncluttering same here Stacey.... I focus on the soil and the conditions, and the plants do most of the work staying healthy in their own!
Thank you for the information on the purpose of the soap and vegetable oil.
Cheers, thanks for watching!
I am grateful for this video. I do have a question. What about neem oil. I Had powdery mildew problems last summer and bought It but I’m not sure how well it worked. Maybe I don’t understand its function but I would sure love to see a video about it. I will absolutely use the baking soda cocktail because I already use baking soda for so many other household things. Thank you
Hey Troy, great question. Yes, lots of people use neem oil for powdery mildew treatment/prevention with great success. Neem oil isn't allowed in every country though....
Neem oil is king no other solution can match its functions..
It works on almost all problems regarding pests
@@Ultimatefitness360 does neem oil work on those little beetles?
@@michellebarnhill5130 it works on all pest problems but does not harm beneficial insects
How much neem oil would I add to this mixture
Nicely explained. A layman can understand clearly. 👍👍👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Love your style, so glad I found you
this beautiful🌄morning in Indy🇺🇲...
Can't wait to watch all your videos! Thx 💌👩🏼🦳✌️
Edit:
one thought... here in the states, we tend to have 💩 added to our food & deodorants that are really bad for us, like aluminum🤬!!! So be careful of the aluminum in the baking soda, we get enough of it these days falling from the sky...🤢
Great point about the aluminum.....totally agree! 🙂 Thanks for watching, appreciate the support!
Wow that's great! It's been so wet in the southeast that fungus and mildew is an issue. Thank you
Yeah, we're just entering our wet and cold season up here Bill..... Even seeing more outbreaks indoors as well
Thanks for your hard work on this video, very appreciated 😇 it's pretty awesome how you did this educational video, Thank you...

I suggest to add the links from Amazon. All the products you are using will help. These days people are ordering everything online.. Also will help you..
Thanks, will do, definitely!,
Excellent baking soda idea!
Thanks Yanni! :-)

Hey Ronnie, thanks for checking it out! 🙂
Can I use nother type of soap, like liquid soap?
Congratulations on having a perfect garden. I have learned a lot from your videos
Hey thanks! Far from perfect, but that's half the fun!
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms Yes, I'm also trying to take care of my garden. Things are not going well. The harsh climate and many pests are causing my plants to not grow well.
Awesome channel, great format and delivery !
Thanks CM, and thanks for watching!
Thanks Jeff ❗ that's some great news will have to try thanks for sharing 👍 we all can keep learning 👍💥♥️
Thanks Jeff for the info. What could I use in place of the castile soap?
Same question
Any liquid dish wash soap .
Good morning. Happy gardening
Thank you so much for your vital informative information on not using store-bought cynthetic pesticides. I like your solution 😉 😀
Thanks Rinda, happy growing!
Thanks for the information. I have mildew on my gerbera daisy leaves and will definitely try the baking soda solution. I much prefer homemade solutions to those from the store shelves. (BTW, can you lighten up on the uptalk. Not a cricism, just a request. I'll continue to tun in even if you don't).
Love ❤ all your natural ideas
Love your exciting informative content 👌 👏 👍 😀 thank you
Thanks Rinda, and thanks for watching! 🙂
Makes sense for sure,
Can you use peppermint or tea tree Castile soap? Or just the plain no scent?
You do know that both raspberry and blackberry bushes are mean, vicious, evil plants that will attack you if you come within 5 feet of it, right?
Yes help me with red raspberries
Turmerec mixed into soil near the base of the plant works against fungus.
Yes!!! Thanks so much for this!!
Hey, thanks for watching! 🙂
Thanks and I'm giving it a try on one citrus tree with curly leaf.
I haven't been able to get any castile soap so will use washing up detergent.
What time of day would you recommend works best? I like your summary at the end because I simply do a "print screen" :)
Hi Virginia, I've always sprayed in the morning on cloudy, non rainy or windy days for best results.
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms Thank you :)

So you use peroxide and baking soda mix or only peroxide?
@ Admirer of Creativity
Can you please provide the amount of mixture that you use on your plants. Thanks.
