- Artist Vicky Bickel talks about The Juliana which she finished many years after Julie Poland began constructing it. In the late 1980’s, when Julie was in high school student, she started building the Victorian doll house with her father VCU professor of physiology Jim Poland. At age 26, Julie was killed in a car accident. Jim and Jerry Poland and their daughter Jenny Poland collaborated with Bickel, who finished the doll house over the past seven years in Bickel's studio at the Hanover Arts & Activities Center in Ashland, Va. Juliana was born 5/6/69, I was born on 6/5/69. I am currently working on two 1/12th scale Victorian dollhouses myself. It is sad to know she was not able to see this masterpiece completed, but you've done a wonderful job and it pays tribute to her memory.❤
When I see dollhouses like this I think, “That person should be an architect, or work with an architect so we can have more beautiful houses like this in the world instead of ugly tract developments!” But I guess they are architects, just dollhouse architects :) I also wonder who makes all that furniture? How many people helped contribute to that dollhouse? How many countries contributed to the contents inside? Absolutely mind boggling in a wonderful way :)
I’m actually an architect, working on getting ready to build a neighborhood myself, but not a subdivision, a Victorian styled neighborhood, with my own home perched at the end of the cove, tree lined brick laid street, all homes being built are from real 1880s to 1890s blueprints, only plan to tweak the interiors to modern standards and what people like, however 3 homes including mine at the end of the cove, will be built to exact specifications, including period correct wallpapers, fretwork, transom windows etc, very excited to get started. It’s been difficult to get investors on board, prices will be starting in the upper $300s to the low 600s for the 2 remaining period correct homes not including my own

That is so awesome...she had a loving heart to put most of this together! I had a doll house that my granddad built for me. Nothing this elaborate but I loved it! It was so special!
This is truly spectacular! I would have loved a doll house just like this even as a 58 year old woman.
Get yourself one, I have my big posh one and tinker with others, but my sister Stella bless her who is 65 loves hers to play with . How ever you use yours it will be a great way to escape the toils of daily life good luck.

Beautiful doll house she had drawn and she passed away before it was finished but I bet she enjoys looking at it from heaven thanks for sharing that beautiful doghouse with everyone that she made from scratch

It's 1 inch to 1 foot, or 1:12 scale.
What the ....is this ......This is a huge beautifully decorated to the t to my ultimate favorite taste of a posh rich but modern Victorian style suburban dollhouse. Why or can u PLEASE POST LONGER VIDROS OF EACH AnD EVER ROOM PLEASE?? I would love to see the ENTIRE DECORATED DOLLHOUSE JUST LIKE IM SURE MOST PEOPLE WILL. But u made the video so so very short we don't get to see each every room that's the ultimate biggest decorated in classic rich posh modern Victorian style ..

My conservative guess would be that this dollhouse, if it were even for sale, would sell for about $20,000 to $35,000, maybe more. You'd be better off starting with a kit house and putting it together yourself, then finishing, decorating and furnishing it. It can be quite costly to furnish a dollhouse but you can make a lot of stuff yourself from kits. There are also a couple of forums where members can help you if you get stuck on something or have a question.
