I have indeed heard of a people's crusade. I heard one of them followed a woman's goose because they thought it was blessed by the lord ... does that still happen? Are there any blessed trench rats or what? Seriously though if I play play this game I'm gonna make a joke war band based off of that very goose crusade. I'd say a farmer and her goose truly were blessed by the lord with divine knowledge. The goose blessed with leadership and strategy, and the women blessed with charisma and the ability to translate for her goose. They've won many battles for the lord and amassed a great following, however it all nearly came to an end when the woman was assassinated by a dread commando. Miraculously the goose survived, and the war band still follows him, although now all they can do is follow because no one else can speak goose.
I think this group is mixed with a lot of Andalusian and Byzantine remnants by their styling. Also isn’t it weird that they seem to have more access to Communicants that most war bands out of New Antioch?
The creator has hinted at a byzantine remnant faction before actually, although nothing is set in stone yet. The Trench Pilgrims I feel are deliberately set up to be a sort of blank slate, they can be from anywhere or serve any goal really. as for access to Communicants; both factions can recruit the mercenary unit the "communicant anti-tank hunter". So you can get one as new Antioch but its not part of their core army. The communicant that the Trench Pilgrims get is supposed to be the more brutish and malformed one the one that couldn’t really handle the change too well which is why only they have it.
@ you raise a good point. Communicant Anti-Tank Hunter is definitely a different beast when comparing their Ranged Stats. Oh! And the Red Brigade of New Antioch, the official third party release does have a type of communicant that can be hired for ducats.
Question. If communicants are made by the church and given to trench pilgrims then why are they only in the Trench Pilgrim army and not New Antioch? I understand why from a Doylist reason that you gotta make each army list different, but what's the Watsonian reason that New Antioch doesn't deploy such a useful weapon? (Unless I'm actually mistaken and they are in both armies.)
