Pantomime (Sparke) tutorial with Steven Mead

  • Steven Mead gives a 25 minute explanation of how to approach this well loved euphonium classic, Pantomime by Philip Sparke.
    It's hoped that this will be useful for anyone who has played the solo or intends to play in the future. Apologies for the slight distortion of sound at times.
    This movie was made at Barkham Farm, North Devon on Sunday March 1st, 2020.

    中学で初めて吹奏楽部に入って、トランペットとかトロンボーンを吹きたかったのにユーフォに選ばれて、どうしようってすっごくガッカリしてた時に、ミードのパントマイムを初めて聴いた。その時初めてユーフォっていいな、すごいなって思えた。出雲であったリサイタルで生でミードを見れて、生で聴けた時は本当に感動しすぎて涙が出た。私が今ユーフォを吹けてるのは絶対にミードのおかげ。そんなミードがこんな風に動画の投稿をしてくれるのが本当に嬉しい。ありがとうスティーブンミード!!!

    Oddly enough, I fell in love with the Euphonium because of a cartoon.
    It has such a beautiful sound.

    I am a Brazilian euphonist, I really appreciate your work and I really wanted a mouthpiece from the series that Mr. Mead uses! pity that Denis Wick does not expand musical boundaries and does not sell easily here! can you interfere in any way to facilitate? pardon my English ! lol

    Hi, Mr. Steven, what a mouthpiece you use, it looks different in this video? what are the differences between Besson euphonium 2052 Prestige silver and gold. But for mouthpieces, that's the difference between silver and gold. thanks

      for now the best answer I can give you is that it's a clarinet mouthpiece designed by an alien...but more news soon :D
