    Excellent information included in this video. I’ve had great success with M3 spoons on fluke WHEN THERE’S A FAST DRIFT.
    That’s when you’ll scope out with a jig and become less effective. It doesn’t matter if you scope back some with a spoon. They still wobble like crazy down there. No action required by the angler. Just drop it down (baited properly) and it does all the work needed to get the fluke to bite.
    It’s all in the timing of when to use them. I was on the Helen H at Nantucket and met a group of older guys all excited to try the M3 spoons for their first time. I told them I’d used the spoons before with great success and would be willing to help them catch that day. Unfortunately we started the day with a slow drift so the spoons were not effective. Those guys didn’t listen to me when I said that it wasn’t the right time for spoons. They dragged them at that slow drift and managed to only get tangled and snagged. I picked a few fluke here/there on a jig at that point. Those guys managed to lose a few spoons and any confidence they had for them. Finally in mid afternoon the tide/wind got rolling. I told them it was spoon-time but they didn’t care. They’d given up. I caught 3 fluke in the 5 lb range in the next half hour while they picked a few Seabass. I even managed to catch maybe the biggest seabass of anyone on the boat that day, on that faster drift with an M3 fluke spoon.
    I’ll always have a fluke spoon at the ready when I go fishing for them. When the drift speed gets right it’s going down.

    Great explanation and comparison. Makes a lot of sense. Now I want to try and fast drift a spinner bait for fluke, haha. I recently dragged a bait with a small spoon on an underwater camera setup and never realized how much wobble they add to the trailer bait as well. Great video, thanks again

    Thanks for the vid, does the swivel take away the action of the spoon? I thought M3 recommended not using a swivel?

    • @nextdriftfishing
      @nextdriftfishing  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching Jo! We prefer the swivel for that reason. The swivel allows the spoon to move more freely. It also allows for a quick change if we want to swap color or size. Great question!

    These look like tangle city with the three way and spinning spoon. Any issues with tangling?

    • @nextdriftfishing
      @nextdriftfishing  Рік тому

      They're not bad at all. When you drop the spoon down its best to drop is a little slower than free fall. Once it's on the bottom it pretty much tangle free. Great question

    Hey Justin are you still fishing bass tournaments or have you transitioned to all salt….awesome videos and very informative they are some of the best I have seen. This channel will blow up if you stick with it!!

      Thanks a lot for the compliment. I really appreciate that. I've hung up my bass tournament boots to focus completely on saltwater. I'm sure at some point in the future I'll get the tournament butterflies again and do a few here and there but I'm definitely hooked on the salt. Thanks again for the support. Next Drift is here to stay. :)

    Thank you. Very informative video. What weight mono or fluorocarbon leader do you use for sinker and trolling spoon and what length leader do you recommend for sinker and spoon?

    • @nextdriftfishing
      @nextdriftfishing  3 роки тому

      Thanks Joseph. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. We usually use a 20lb mono leader for the weight and a 25lb fluorocarbon leader for the larger spoon. The smaller spoons we use a 15lb mono leader and a 20lb fluorocarbon leader for the spoon. Thanks again for watching.

    • @nextdriftfishing

      Not bad at all. Went you let it down, drop it slowly so the spoon doesn't whip around. If you drop it slowly you'll be just fine.

    I've been usingh Spinnerbaits for fluke in the surf and bays for fluke instead of casting bucktails. tipping them with Gulp or squid or live killies seems to get more hits then bucktails. I wish someone would make large saltwater sized Spinnerbaits for dep water Doormats and other species like Stripers
