    Kristie, what a wonderful way to express appreciation to all the staff! My husband used to be "the gardener" at a small elem. school district of 7 schools. He is a very outgoing, friendly person who speaks to everybody. He would have been thrilled to pieces if one of the kids (and parents) had given him something like this. I hate to say it, but no one did. He did have one teacher who was wonderful. She always noticed the special things he did, like plant pretty flowers outside her classroom. One year she asked him to give a little talk to her (4th grade) class. He was so excited, especially when she had each child make him a card or a picture. So congrats to you for being so thoughtful!!

      Ruth Thomas A big thank you to your husband and all his dedicated years making the school a lovely place. That’s too bad he wasn’t acknowledged earlier for his hard work. I’m so glad at least one teacher finally made him feel special. I’ll admit, I don’t even know who the gardener is at my daughter’s school. But I know it takes more than just the teachers to run a school. That’s why I decided to give cards to the entire staff. 🙂

    Another wonderful tutorial - and this one is for teachers and staff. Being a retired teacher myself I can't tell you how much these mean to us. Each one you made put a smile on my face (and I know the bus drivers will be thrilled.) You have a overflowing heart that comes out of the work you do. Thank you for letting us watch and learn.

      Beth Hansen Thank you! I’m grateful for your kindness. And thank you for all your years of dedication to your students. My mother is a retired remediation specialist and my father is a retired school psychologist. I know the work continued well beyond school hours. 🙂

    Kristie, Another wonderful group of cards. As an older viewer, I wish I was able to do this for my children's school "in the day". I love your cards and get so many ideas from you and the sketches you use. I hope to buy a couple dies you use from "My Favorite Things" soon. I hope mine look half as good as yours.

      Yvonne Walker Thank you! I appreciate your kindness. 😊 I’m sure the current teachers would love to receive cards. You don’t have to have children in school to say thank you to a teacher. I love MFT dies and hope you enjoy them just as much. 🙂

    Yeah!!! You made my day again!! Love so many of your layouts on this video... favorites are OWH #183, OWH #23 and Mojo #162. There are many others that I loved. I can't wait to try them out. I am still working on your Spring Market video... love , love that paper. I loved your purple paper this video and the double matting of the sentiments, great idea. Your apple was too cute. You have such a creative mind. Thank you so very much for your inspiration and hard work to put these together. You are the greatest. On pins and needles for your next video :)

    I love watching all of your videos. It is amazing to see what you do, I am only starting in card making and only wish I will one day be as capable. I do have one question, I have seen you use a die cut not only here but in other videos that looks like a quilt block and would love to find one to buy......but have had no luck. Any advice??

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  6 років тому

      Lori Otto Thank you! I appreciate your kindness and support. I absolutely love the quilt die and use it all the time. The one I use the most is called Die-namics Quilt Square Cover-Up and it’s made by MFT. The quality is amazing and I love the faux stitching on the quilt pieces. 😊

    Great cards and technique!!! I have trouble cutting panels perfectly straight/square. They're close, but not perfect. Any advice you could share would be greatly appreciated.

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  6 років тому

      Kay Honeycutt Thank you! 😊 I think having a good trimmer is key to getting straight cuts. I’ve owned others trimmers before that never seemed to cut straight. I’ve never had that problem with my Tonic guillotine trimmer. Although, sometimes the paper isn’t perfectly square. That’s very frustrating.

    How do you like this cutter
    Tonic?
    Have you ever used Fiskars?
    Would you say the Tonic cutter is better I’m starting to think I need to upgrade to a better cutter.

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  6 років тому

      caroll Garcia Hello. I love my Tonic trimmer! Many years ago, I used Fiskars trimmers. But I was tired of buying replacement blades that would only last about a week. So I switched to the Tonic guillotine trimmer. I’ve had it for probably 7 years and haven’t encountered any problems with it. Tonic did discontinue the trimmer I own, but they recently re-released it under Tim Holtz name. It looks the same except different colors. 🙂

    Have you ever experienced your ATG glue to have a certain smell? I just bought one but I think I can't use because of the smell. It's not a really bad smell, it just smells gluey but very strong, it would be embarrassing to give someone a card that smells like that 😔

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  6 років тому +1

      Eva Jonsson I haven’t ever had a strong smelling ATG refill before. Do you use the Scotch brand or a generic? I buy my refills from Tape Jungle online. I would suggest contacting the manufacturer.

    • @evajonsson9631
      @evajonsson9631 6 років тому

      Kristie Marcotte It's the ones that came with the "applicator". I noticed it at soon as I opened the package. I've used it on some scrap paper and now, like a week later, it still smells the same so for cards it's definitely a No. Maybe the generic ones are better?

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  6 років тому

      Eva Jonsson I would definitely contact the manufacturer. It’s been years since I’ve used the Scotch brand refills. I really like the generic refills from Tape Jungle. They are way less expensive, especially if you buy them in bulk. 🙂
