    I'm always amazed how many cards you can get from one paper pad and how little scraps you have left over. Such cute cards.

    I keep saying it all the time, but thank you, Kristie!! Can I send you some heat & humidity from New England? No? Aw rats, I'll keep trying to sell it elsewhere. Thank you not only for sharing your talent and flair, but also for correctly guessing that "A Kristie Video" was needed to brighten a day. {{{Big hug!!}}}

      Tracy Tracy No thank you! Please keep your heat & humidity far away from Washington. I really prefer cooler temps and I don’t mind all the rain we get out here. Lol! But hopefully your summer won’t be too unbearable for you this year. And I’ll try to keep making videos to brighten your day. 😊

    I love your lots of cards from a 6X6 paper pack series. I find these videos inspirational and relaxing. I followed this formula for my Christmas cards this past year and it was the most enjoyable time I've had in a while making a bunch of same themed cards. Thanks for sharing!

    Kristie , I was so excited to see that you were using this older Doodlebug paper pad! It's so cute that I (of course) *HAD* to have it, but it's been sitting in my stash all this time. You and your fantastic, creative, wonderful mind have shown me so many *AWESOME* ways I can use it! Thank you for your time and the energy you used to create these wonderful videos for us. They are so very much appreciated! Take it easy, sweet pea. MWAH! :-)

      Karen Thompson Thank you! Obviously I had to have the paper collection as well. Not sure why it took me so long to using though. Too many 6x6 paper pads and too few hours in the day. Lol! 😊

    Oh boy this worked out so good. I have this paper pad and haven't used much of it. NOW I have , love your layouts and have already made 3 cards. You are the greatest. It's so funny because we seem to have the same likes in paper pads. I always learn something from your videos. I added crystal lacquer and stickles to some of the already prepared pictures so it added a more homemade effect. I love, love your videos. Thank you for all the hard work you put into them for our benefit.

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  6 років тому

      Rita Swanger Hello. I really don’t do a lot of preplanning. After selecting a 6x6, I choose coordinating cardstock, a few card sketches, and fold my card bases. Sometimes I’ll color images ahead of time, but not very often. I’ve been making cards this way for many, many years. So it’s kinda habit for me now. 😊

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  6 років тому +1

      Benedicte Hjalting Thank you! 😊 I prefer double sided papers, but will use single sided paper pads once in awhile. If there’s a way to trim the image a bit smaller, maybe 5” x 5”, you could add it to a larger card base. Then you could simply include some bling or other embellishments to the card. I haven’t personally used the large images that are sometimes included in the paper pads, but have seen other crafters make simple cards with them.

    Kristie, you said that you donate the cards to retirement homes. Do you know what happens to them? Do the residents receive them on their birthdays etc, are they made available for them (free or to raise funds for other uses) to give to each other/their families/friends, are they sold to the public at fêtes etc as fund raisers, or what? I donate most of mine to local charities to sell in their high street shops, but often feel that the price the staff/volunteers charge is a poor reflection of the work and materials used, and that the charity therefore loses income, and I would be better off handing over cash instead of cards. So I am looking to do something with the cards that I think generates more appreciation of their value. I don't really care if no-one ever buys them, because bringing some pleasure to the residents by their use, to me, would be better than someone bartering a lower price in the shop because they can get a mass produced one for the same money along the road. I have wondered about sending some of them as gestures of appreciation to the local hospitals, fire station, police etc. Has anyone else got ideas for good homes/uses for cards? I'm in Derbyshire in the UK, if anyone local can make good use of them :)

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  6 років тому +1

      Pam Holloway Hello. All of the cards I give to the retirement homes are considered gifts since I include an encouraging message inside each one. I regularly give cards to a rehab facility for seniors and drop off 30 cards every month. (There are hospice patients living at the home as well. ) The activity coordinator passes out my cards to random residents. Especially to those who may not receive mail or regular visitors. For holidays, I make enough cards for every resident. Usually around 90. The home currently has no need for blank cards and I don’t mind writing a message inside. I also donate about 30 cards a month to a small charity. They need Thank You and General card themes since they write messages to donors and clients. For their cards, I leave the inside blank. I have donated cards for fundraising auctions before and just don’t stress about the income earned. I’m just happy to help. I love giving my cards to others. There are always places that have a need for handmade cards. I would suggest asking around. Hospitals would be a great place to start. Make sure to follow any guidelines/restrictions they may have though. Example, no glitter or small embellishments. (Especially for young children.) Thank you for your giving spirit. 🙂
