Primus has a live DVD called hallucino-genetics, it is mandatory viewing if you want to really appreciate what Primus does, it's really a pleasure to watch these guys live. Pick any song from that DVD or just start at the beginning and make a video for each song, the Primus army will be here for it.
You should check out the live version he does with Sean Lennon as The Claypool Lennon Delirium at Austin City Limits. Its awesome to see him play this.
A festival here in Chattanooga TN was postponed for a storm, we were chillin under a bridge and Les rode by on his electric bike. Luckily they still got to play that night, it wasn’t a Primus show though, Colonel Claypools Flying Frog Brigade… he has a lot of bands with other artists besides Primus
Good to see Aileen back with some Primus! ^_^ May I suggest a live vid next? Full title of the vid is: 'Primus - To Defy the Laws of Tradition (Radio Jam)' The vid is from May 1989, whilst this particular upload is from 18-yrs ago by a guy called Gilgamex. I specifically mention these details as it's still the best quality upload of this vid. 👍
Really enjoyed the song, no idea what genre Primus is and I have thoroughly given up trying (I am crazy enough as it is). Really enjoyed your reaction!
What a nice surprise. No joke, I watched 4 or 5 videos just last night of hyraxes (closest relative to the elephant) and now today we're blessed with Aileen and this reaction
I am BEGGING you to listen to DMV, he is tapping on the bass the entire song and it is glorious. Also if you want another amazing bass line accompanied by a WILD claymation video Laquerhead is a CLASSIC
Hello aileen, swing your face and reactions make my day. As a bassist also groves get to me as well. One these days I hope to work with you professionally. Have a great day
Great reaction Aileen you need to listen to there song (going over the falls) its about people making barrels and stuff to try to go over the falls and trying to stay alive a lot of people died trying to do so.
I'm so glad you reacted to this. It's one I always recommend, but I rarely get a response. The kid inside me can barely suppress a giggle. I see others are suggesting some amazing tunes - you won't go wrong. Let me say that the song that started me on Primus was Too Many Puppies, but every suggestion is a don't miss!
Ok Aileen we got the Les bit now but it's Clay-POLE as far as pronunciation is concerned. I know it's spelled -pool like swimming pool but it's defo POLE. 🤷♂️
Lacquer head! Please!(official video) And over the electric grapevine! And whenever you do Mr.Krinkle definitely do the official vid. Blue collared tweekers do the live performance where he has the silver helmet on
The music was great. The vid was madness of the best kind. all superb. My first time hearing Primus, and will listen to more! Impressive does NOT cover it!
Love that you identify as a bassist! So now you must react to the following two performances: Mr. Big - Addicted to that Rush (Billy Sheehan on bass) ua-cam.com/video/aqhNo6FJrek/v-deo.htmlsi=ZCRQsCOEFQJpQZb1 Level 42-Love Games (Mark King on Bass) ua-cam.com/video/aga7LgNRktk/v-deo.htmlsi=nGGeBpLgvETvKmzA Bonus: Jaco Pastorius- (the Jimi Hendrix of Bass) A genius that changed jazz bass forever ua-cam.com/video/JXOnhzoC-i8/v-deo.htmlsi=5ZpGOPhaTEVbSCa0
Hi Aileen 😊 Tremendously fabulous reaction to Primus's Southbound Pachyderm 😊👍 the more you you watch Primus or listen to Primus as I should say the more you find out that any and all of the videos make your mind as you say go into a fever dream and the true enjoyment is listening to the tremendous artistry and musicianship. For your listening and viewing pleasure, here is a live version in 2004... ua-cam.com/video/h4IvShMEKdY/v-deo.htmlsi=yIQdo5qmRpSGiDiX Yes, they do show the video that you just watched during the performance. Have a great day you and Arya with much love 😊👍💪❤️👑👑
First time seeing the music video but have listened to the track dozens of times on the CD 💿 blown away by the video.. btw Aileen I subscribed after the Winona’s Big Brown Beaver 🦫 reaction.. In my top 50 all time favourite songs.. Dave
This is one of Les's favorite songs to play live. The message is to spread awareness of the extinction threat rhinos, hippos, and elephants face. He also has a winery called Purple Pachyderm, which is very tasty.
John the Fisherman, Golden Boy, Shake Hands with Beef, Mr. Krinkle, DMV, Over the Electric Grapevine, Frizzle Fry, Groundhog’s Day, Too Many Puppies, American Life, Over the Falls, Mary the Ice Cube.
I've been waiting specifically for the reaction to this song; I love it so much. Thank you! Also, I just want to say: Too many puppies are being shot in the dark Too many puppies are trained not to bark At the sight of blood that must be spilled so that we may maintain our oil fields
I don't think that Primus has tobe "thrust upon you". Everyone is free to choose to engage with them or not. The only thing that no one has a choice about, is how the experience will affect you. The same goes for any experience, because you won't know until you experience it, how you will be affected. But as far as the "fever dream" aspect; I would say that psychotropic elements were involved in the writing process. So you're not wrong. But when you look beneath the surface, there are layers of meaning to Les' lyrics. Plus it says something when you can take an odd meter and make it groove so naturally.
This is a deep track. You're on course with Primus. Just keep doing it. Just know that Sailing the Seas of Cheese is a magnus opus and redifines what we know about music.
Not as crazy as some of there other songs as far as the bass is concerned Tommy The Cat was unbelievable but the drum work in this video was fantastic keep the Primus songs coming
Mr. Krinkle is pretty good. Fun music video and you get to hear Les work his magic on a double bass.
If you watch the video pay attention to the background and remember it’s done in a single shot. It’s like watching a fever dream.
I second this recommendation.
Jon the Fishman 😎❤🎶🤙
"Too Many Puppies" needs to be listened to!
I love the whole of Frizzle Fry. Bought the album after seeing them supporting Jane's Addiction about 90/91.
@@PUNKinDRUBLIC72 Frizzle Fry and Sailing the Seas of Cheese are peak Primus, imo. Not a bad song on those albums.
@@dangerkeith3000 Agreed!
Shake Hands With Beef
Over the Electric Grapevine is criminally underrated
THIS!
It seems like les claypool, Maynard James Keenan, and buckethead all came on the same spaceship together.
Primus has a live DVD called hallucino-genetics, it is mandatory viewing if you want to really appreciate what Primus does, it's really a pleasure to watch these guys live. Pick any song from that DVD or just start at the beginning and make a video for each song, the Primus army will be here for it.
Is that the one that came with an e.p?
💯
I concur. It's even better on hallucinogenics.
I'm convinced Les claypool is from another planet.
If you watch the original Men in Black and slow down the office scene he's on the big screen for sure
Best of all, he (like all of us here) h8s the low class rubbish who didn't vote for Harris.
@ bchooper5603 There is always a More-on that has to bring politics into everything. I feel sorry for you.
Planet El Sobrante
Cry harder. Keep calling names and looking down your ignorant nose, that's how Harris lost. Also, she and people like you are idiots
You should check out the live version he does with Sean Lennon as The Claypool Lennon Delirium at Austin City Limits. Its awesome to see him play this.
One of my favorite Primus tunes! That intro!
Jilly’s on Smack live @ Bonnaroo!!🔥 Also check out Mr. Krinkle!
Les has also done several side projects. They're all good, but Oysterhead is my favorite. They only had one album, 'The Grand Pecking Order.'
Seeing your face in the thumbnail is enough to tell us what kind of reaction we should be expecting 😭It’s the best day for a new Aileen video too 🖤
"On the Tweak Again" has a nasty bass line that'll draw you in an spit you out leaving you smiling while asking wtf just happened
Try the live version of Ground Hog Day. Superb!
Some other very good Primus songs:
Shakes Hands with Beef
Too Many Puppies
Those Damned Blue-Collar Tweekers
Their cover of Devil Went Down to Georgia has good claymation.
Lacquer head is a good one
Love love love this song 💖
You would really enjoy 'Ol' Diamondback Sturgeon'! Very nice groove to it while a bit more mellow than most of Primus' music.
Loved it and I was hoping she would review this 🤩
that’s great you reviewed this. Primus is definitely an exotic taste. But always hits the spot
Every time I hear this I can't help but think about the guy I saw dropped on his head in the Fox theater in Atlanta mid 90s
Good to see Aileen back with some Primus! ^_^
May I suggest a live vid next? Full title of the vid is: 'Primus - To Defy the Laws of Tradition (Radio Jam)'

Officially the most excited I've ever seen a bassist about claymation while listening to a Les Claypool masterpiece for the first time. 🤨
I think you would surely enjoy Les' collabs with Buckethead under the name Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains (C2B3).
Any song will do.
Really enjoyed the song, no idea what genre Primus is and I have thoroughly given up trying (I am crazy enough as it is). Really enjoyed your reaction!
Listen to Lacquerhead by Primus.

Claypool, always surrounds himself, with master musicians !
"Shake Hands with Beef" is Pure FUNK! The "Claypool Lennon Delirium" is Les` Collab with Sean Ono Lennon....yes John Lennon`s Son....Fantastic!
I got to see CLD at Bonnaroo 2016.
Fantastic!!
Aileen, you gotta check out one of Les Claypool's side projects called Les Claypool's Fancy Band. You'll dig it !
You have to hear "De Anza Jig" and Les on that banjo bass
I'm so glad you reacted to this. It's one I always recommend, but I rarely get a response. The kid inside me can barely suppress a giggle. The Mars Volta - Son et lumiere + Inertiatic ESP
John the Fisherman ❤🎉
I always felt this was possibly inspired by Set the Controls For the Heart of the Sun by Pink Floyd.
Introduced my Metal head friend to Primus, and out of all the songs, he chose this as his favorite. Still miss you, Jason...😢
You should also check out there songs John the fisherman, Anti-Pop, and Shake hands with beef
Ok Aileen we got the Les bit now but it's Clay-POLE as far as pronunciation is concerned. I know it's spelled -pool like swimming pool but it's defo POLE. 🤷♂️

Try Over the Falls for a different perspective of Primus
I'm just going to pretend that you chose this because I recommended it. 😊
Lacquer head! Please!(official video) And over the electric grapevine! And whenever you do Mr.Krinkle definitely do the official vid. Blue collared tweekers do the live performance where he has the silver helmet on
Primus is one band I have seen the most live, and was not on purpose. They just always there. Good stuff!

Yes, they do show the video that you just watched during the performance. Have a great day you and Arya with much love 😊👍💪❤️👑👑
Check out 'The Toys Go Winding Down.' I don't think I've seen anyone react to that one!
I would suggest 'Mr. Krinkle' for your next Primus reaction.
First time seeing the music video but have listened to the track dozens of times on the CD 💿 blown away by the video..
btw Aileen I subscribed after the Winona’s Big Brown Beaver 🦫 reaction..
In my top 50 all time favourite songs.. Dave

Yay more Primus!! This song was a blast to watch live when they came to Reno.
Day I-lost-count asking for Palantir - Lost Between Dimensions
This is one of Les's favorite songs to play live. The message is to spread awareness of the extinction threat rhinos, hippos, and elephants face. He also has a winery called Purple Pachyderm, which is very tasty.
I cant wait for you to do the Fisherman Trilogy
Too many puppies next!
Don't care which one you pick, plenty suggestions already. I will be watching.
All this Primus songs take me back. I meed to sit and relisten to everything of theirs.
John the Fisherman, Golden Boy, Shake Hands with Beef, Mr. Krinkle, DMV, Over the Electric Grapevine, Frizzle Fry, Groundhog’s Day, Too Many Puppies, American Life, Over the Falls, Mary the Ice Cube.
I definately second John the Fisherman (and anything that is on the Suck on This live album) - also "Welcome to this World"

Golden boy doesn’t get enough love. Fun to play too
What an ingenious device
Boredom encompasses my time
I don't know what I should do🤘✌️🖖🎸🎤🥁
Aileen, you are so pretty! 😊
"Too Many Puppies"(Hint: It's NOT about Doggies)😞❤👨✈️
seeing them on NYE! VIP!
If you want more great bass playing, I recommend checking out Jaco Pastorius. He’s easily one of the best to pick up the instrument
Anything from the Brown Album!
How about "Those Damn Blue Collar Tweakers" or "John the Fisherman"?
Please do Those dumb blue Collard Tweekers live at Woodstock. Thanks
I've been waiting specifically for the reaction to this song; I love it so much. Thank you!
Also, I just want to say:
Too many puppies are being shot in the dark
Too many puppies are trained not to bark
At the sight of blood that must be spilled so that we may maintain our oil fields
I’m excited for this one
Les did all this claymation himself. Awesome song… check out lauqerhead or Kalamazoo Bobs Partytime Lounge
I've seen primus live too many times to count. This song is played as an encore alot. 15min versions of it are incredible.
The songs about the extinction face by elephants rhinos and hippos lol this is my favorite of their forsure
