  • Is the Quantum of Solace the PERFECT Bond watch from the Craig era? A classic look and size from a movie I have a lot of heart for made this a much sought after watch for me. But when I acquired a used version, I wanted to bring it back to it's original 2008 beauty so I did what anyone would do...I handed it over to the people at Omega to resurrect my timepiece and the journey and results are documented in this video. But will this iconic watch come back looking new, or will it only have a Quantum of improvement? WATCH to find out!

You’d be surprised how Rolex treats potential customers. The process of buying a watch from them makes buying a car from a sketchy used dealership seem like a stroll through the grocery store. I suspect a lot of folks switch over to Omega just because of how shitty the buying experience is with Rolex.

Great video! I bought this watch back in 2008 and wore it every day. I can’t tell you how many compliments I got on that watch. It was amazing time piece and kept pristine time as well. I lost my job due to Covid, and eventually in 2021 had to sell it. It was my most prized possession indeed, but had to pay the rent. I actually got emotional about letting it go!

It really goes to show that the customer experience is at the front and centre of everything they do, highlighted beautifully by the servicing and restoration work that they perform on our beloved timepieces. Spot on, on your testimony about Omega’s servicing David! I have a Seamaster, the 300M worn in Casino Royale, that I bought brand new in 2011 and I sent it to Omega in 2019 for servicing. I had the same reaction as well! It looked just how remembered it looking when I left Bachendorf’s in Dallas as a proud new owner. I can’t give Omega high enough complements for the work they do.

Great job by Omega! I have the same 42mm PO and will have it serviced by Omega some time next year.
Finding out if they replaced the entire case of your watch during service or just polished the scratches and dents out is very simple: If you can still find your serial number on the back, it‘s the old case. A service watch case comes without a serial number.

I have this same model 2201.50 Planet Ocean 42mm and IMO they are still one of the best looking modern Omega diver's and the best of the PO's aesthetically, I much prefer the more subdued toolish styling of it's matte black dial, white tri arabics and engraved solid case back to the newer much shinier/louder versions, it's a great watch!

Music for this video was impressive, could imagine the beginning score opening for the next Bond movie. Omega customer service is world class. I recently returned from a trip to Spain and Portugal and visited the boutiques. While I was only browsing, I was offered water, champagne and the latest Lifetime Museum Edition. No pressure in purchasing, as I was eyeing the 300m heritage watch. Complete opposite when I entered the Rolex boutiques. Unfriendly staff, no products for sale as everything in the windows and cases said “for display only”. Can’t fathom how they’re remaining open with nothing to sell. I own both Rolex & Omega, but hands down Omega has one up on Rolex.

Got to give it to you, you have single handily bought my Bond fandom out of the closet (much to my wife’s amusement). Been watching your UA-cam videos for a while now, and whilst I subconsciously already had a Bond appropriate wardrobe (not to mention the mobile number ending 007 for the last 20 years). I’ve now increased my Bond watch collection. So amongst my many Rolex’s I’ve acquired the non date ceramic sub, the Spectre Omega (which I love) and the latest acquisition is a refurbished 42mm Omega Planet Ocean 2500. The funny thing is I’ve already owned several of the 45.5 versions, including the limited edition Casino Royale one and the Blue Titanium, but 42mm is the sweet spot! I recently got rid of the ceramic 43.5mm 8900 version for the 42mm older version, am I crazy? No! Omega hit the mark with this watch, its better than my ceramic Sub. I’ve ordered the Casino Royale rubber divers strap for it which will take it to the next level. Strange to think that I turned it down in 2008 for the 45.5, but in todays modern world 45.5 is just too darn big. I’ve ditched my 44mm Panerai’s as the big watch fad is over. They look so unbalanced, even for a 6ft 90kg fit guy with 7.5inch wrists! Thanks David for the phenomenal and engaging output. May I humbly suggest you look into Thomas Maine clothing, their polos are better than sunspel in my opinion. Their merino wool ones are amazing, i own the short sleeved version which is spot on for the colder weather when layering which is key! God’s speed to you old bean!

Got this watch and change it between 2 other genuine black rubber bands. One with the clasp. Keeps it interesting.
I had two numbers fall off the face and they floated to the bottom. Omega in Thailand repaired it. A week later another luminated number fell off and they wouldn’t repair it.
It’s the service Centre on wireless road. I kicked up a fuss and they then repaired it.
I have 3 Omegas and decent watches. I wear them and get them serviced every 5-7 years but not blown away by them. I leave this Planet Ocean in drawer now as I’m scared another number might fall off. I have filled up 5 passports wearing this watch and if only it could talk!

I bought this watch in 2008 and handed it over to my father one year later because I fell in love with the orange PO Chrono. The chrono had to be serviced some years ago and it came back in the same condition as I bought it. I don't knoiw if Omega still does it but back then I also received a small plastic bag with all the parts they replaced. Next one to be serviced is the SMP 300 as Craig wore it in Casino Royale. After almost 15 years it deserves some service. Not having it available for some months almost hurts me.

That is a pristine restoration. But having watched this I've this to ask. If various parts are outright replaced its questionable how much of the original watch & history is intact. Does Omega during the process ask the client if they'd like a component part(s) replaced as an option? Or for the watch to be kept as it is albeit with the best restoration techniques applied.meaning it may not look 100% brand new. But is 100% original. Otherwise it is effectively a different watch.

Omega probably did not change the case at all. They just polished perfectly and deeply the steel case, like they are used to do it and like Rolex has been doing that for decades already. Probably the most practical, efficient and impressive Bond watch after the Submariner 5513..👍

That’s incredible. Respectfully, what does Omega charge a customer for this service? If he said it in the video I missed it!

During a service Omega will do a full disassembly, inspection, cleaning, repair/replace, buffing and polishing.
They will make your watch as close to "like new" as possible.
If you have a vintage Omega, DO NOT send it in, part of the history of vintage watch collecting is the history, each bump ding or scratch tells a story and will erase it.

Better get a Grand Seiko instead of chasing the logo craze

The watch market across the board has been absolutely repulsive for years. I’m a Bond fan and a fan of this channel but Omega has become too kitsch. Yet, I own several 🙄

Do you buy an Omega watch simply because you can’t afford a Rolex. Yes, thats usually the case.

I have this planet ocean and a submariner.
If you put them side by side and prefer the submariner you do not appreciate aesthetics.
Everyone knows a submariner and they have become a bit too common these days. My mates wife even wears one!

    Great watch. It's a shame it's a 45mm. It's too large. Would be perfect in a 40mm or 42mm.

Not sure why you are so amazed that a company can service their own watch. You also seem to have completely fallen for every last drop of customer service BS. We all love great customer service, but I do find the fawning overdone. Hope you enjoy your great watch though!
